I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Holly: hope all goes well tomorrow. Keep us posted when you can and know we will all be thinking of you and sending positive vibes your way.

Mellee: sympathies. I had horrible constipation at the weekend. Actually started to wonder if I was going into labour because cramps and back ache were so bad at one point. Hope the cream works quickly and that it's the end of the constipation and piles for you.

Sorry to the newcomers and the continuing sufferers. I found bread awful to bring back up. Haven't brought up pasta and the one time rice came back it was pretty much completely digested so it wasn't an issue.

Sorry not been on recently. DS and I were ill and then he got a rash (cue instant mum panic) which turned out to be a possible measles rash - thankfully now pretty much gone - and I've had near constant back pain since yesterday afternoon and lots of braxton hicks, so I haven't felt like talking much.

LucindaE · 05/07/2017 21:36

Hollyhop Yours does seem to be unusual in that if it worsens again, it is rare for it to be as bad as in the first tri. Poor you! Any news about baby's position?
weasledee Sorry about boss sulking. He needs to try just one day of it...
Lemondrop Sympathies about heartburn from early on. It is so miserable. I hope your meds still help it a lot?
pippasnippa Much sympathy about things getting bad again. I hope it is a short lived hormonal surge.
NatskuI believe that is called 'metaclopramide' in the UK? A lot of people find it really helpful.
Beansearch I am glad orange squash has been good today.

Melleebacca Poor you. Take it one day at a time. You will get there.
TwoDrfiters I remember your disappointment. It was awful.
I hope everyone is more or less OK.

bean pregnancy IS a diet if you've been as sick as I have 😂😂😭😭 seriously though, just enjoy eating foods that you can stomach and worry about it later.
Today's food has consisted of cereal (Coco pops) and pizza and a donut. Pizza 1 had jalapenos and was amazing and pizza 2 had spinach and I am so happy right now. Spinach pizza is my favourite.

Oh, and to make it better I've just got in the shower and my DH wolf whistled me as I did so. So now feeling good as opposed to fat and rather fed up Grin and I was worried he's stop finding me attractive.

DeadDoorpost · 05/07/2017 21:44

natsku if the one you've been prescribed IS metoclopramide then that was amazing for me while it worked stupid body hating drugs didnt help my car sickness though and ended up being sick the day of my 1st scan. That was horrible fun

weasledee · 05/07/2017 22:43

Good luck holly!! :)

DeadDoorpost · 06/07/2017 08:28

Good lucky Holly!

Lapin387 · 06/07/2017 08:28

Hi,
I'm 33 weeks and my sickness had got a lot better the last 6 weeks with only 1-2 vomits per day and even some sick free days. Now I feel it coming back again. Is this normal? I thought I was finally getting free of it? I don't know whether to keep on with work, which I returned to 6 weeks ago, (but keep having to leave early and have unpredictable days off sick) or to get signed off or start maternity leave early. Or if this is all just a blip with the hot weather 😕

Lemondrop99 · 06/07/2017 09:17

Thinking of you today Holly!!!! Hope all goes super smoothly.

Hi Lapin. Sorry to hear it's come back. I'm only 27 weeks so I don't know, but there are others on here who are further along and still suffering. I have heard of it coming back in the third trimester Confused

Lules · 06/07/2017 09:29

Good luck Holly! Very exciting day!

LucindaE · 06/07/2017 09:50

Lapin I am so sorry it has returned. I hope it is just the heat and perhaps one of those dreaded hormonal surges, but I am afraid it can return in the third tri, and the only thing to do is to consult with the doctor about resuming the meds if it gets worse. It is very rare for it to get as bad again as it was in the first tri. In fact, it is only Hollyhop who has found that. Much sympathy. What meds were you on?
Good luck Hollyhop.
DeadDoorPost Nice to have a boost.

Good luck Holly can't wait to hear you're in the pink castle!!

Lapin yeh I found it got worse again towards the end with Oklette but mine never really got better so I don't know if would be the same where it has eased.

Scan was fine AND it's the first time I have ever visited my hospital without throwing up. Small victories. And it's a boy! Back to feeling utterly lousy today after a couple of days of feeling semi human. Sigh.

Hang on in there ladies, we will survive this!!

pippanippa · 06/07/2017 10:23

Glad the scan went well Oklahoma and exciting to hear it's a boy!

Good luck today Holly!!!!

Natsku · 06/07/2017 10:40

Ooo a boy! I'm hoping for a boy this time round, OH is hoping for a girl (probably because he practically raised his little brothers so thinks boys are little terrors!!)

Checked Doorpost and it is metoclopramide, was prescribed it before for nausea after a head injury and it worked lovely then but do seem to remember it not doing much for travel sickness. Now to find out if I can use it as the same time as travel sickness tablets.

Good luck today Holly glad your team have agreed that you should have the section no matter what position baby is in now.

DeadDoorpost · 06/07/2017 11:10

LADIES we have another healthy boy! After having a slight melt down last night thinking the baby was dead (I hadn't felt him move all day and was just feeling weepy by then which didn't help) it was good to see him moving about a lot.

And husband is happy too. So one more boy to add to the never ending amount of boys on his side... so many

Natsku · 06/07/2017 11:18

Ah that's brilliant Doorpost!

Love scan pics! They look like cute little aliens, especially the 3D/4D ones. Got my scan on Monday, can't wait!

LucindaE · 06/07/2017 14:38

Great about good scan results! Thinking of of Hollyhop approaching the legendary Pink Castle.

Lemondrop99 · 06/07/2017 15:06

Boys, boys everywhere!!!!! 💙 Who on here is actually expecting a girl?

So, I know it's totally unreasonable as she probably a little bit busy today, but I'm dying for an update from Holly Grin

pippanippa · 06/07/2017 15:33

Lucinda ours could be a girl....hopefully keeping it a surprise...so who knows Grin. I'm also guilty of repeatedly checking in in case there's an update from holly.

LucindaE · 06/07/2017 17:27

pippasnippa A girl will be unusual on this thread atm. If this thread is typical, there's going to be a shortage of girls for that generation! I always call it 'The Pink Castle' for boys or girls, as when I was a kid we had a Snakes and Ladders board with the last square depicting a pink castle in the clouds, which I thought magical. As Hyperemesis is so like a hateful board game - drink a cup of water, climb a ladder, get told to eat ginger, go down a snake, I began to think of those who had reached the end of the journey as entering the Pink Castle.

Lemondrop Meant to include you in that post, too.
Yes, indeed, about Hollyhop.

Lapin387 · 06/07/2017 18:04

Thanks Lucinda.

I'm not actually on any medication. Cyclizine, prochlorperazine and promethazine all sent me to sleep for about 8 hours each time. Wasn't keen to try metoclopramide due to the risk of extrapyramidal side effects. And ondansetron wasn't offered but I didn't push for it either because of the constipation issue. I'm already constipated and just vomit laxatives. So I've been managing by resting really, and time off work when bad. Luckily I've never got dehydrated, food has been my problem.

I've requested to start my maternity leave early, so if approved will stop at 34 weeks next week. Tiredness and stress are big triggers for me so I think it's for the best 😕

Natsku · 06/07/2017 18:10

Metoclopramide doesn't seem to be doing much for me so far, was feeling fine most of the day until mid-afternoon which has me wondering whether I ought to be taking the doxylamine in the afternoon as well as in the evening as it makes sense that that my sickness gets worse when its worn off.
