Hyperemesis Support

I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
//sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
//www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
//cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

OnNature'sCourse They know how to hit a woman when she's down, don't they? I hope that the redundancy pay was good, anyway?

The weird dreams have started. First one last night involved my child being bullied and then having a Benjamin Button sort of moment and turned into a 7mnth old?? With autism so Idk what happened there but the kids bullying my sin were hooked up to those fake contraction machines as punishment.
2nd dream was me being at a QI recording and I knew the answers and then I e's walking along the Thames river and then I was in my old college and Idk what was going on but I'm blaming Donald Trump for it.

Lemondrop99 · 16/06/2017 13:08

Do you get a decent paid notice period Nature? Hope you're not too stressed about it and can try and make the most of your break now. I still can't believe there's three of us just on this thread in this position!

cantdothisagain2017 · 16/06/2017 13:11

The dr explained to me when she was doing my scan that is like a patch of bleeding/a blood clot round the gestational sac
I'm not sure what has caused it but she said it's the most common cause of bleeding. I'm really worried about it and just trying to rest today

Thingymaboob · 16/06/2017 13:11

Hi everyone. My EDD is 10/01/18.
Less nauseous today. Still off work. They're not happy!

Thingymaboob · 16/06/2017 13:12

@DeadDoorpost I get weird dreams too! I just posted about having an orgasm in my dream! Really freaky!

Thingymaboob · 16/06/2017 13:15

@cantdothisagain2017 I think it's fairly common reason for bleeding and nothing to worry about but I would also be worried too. I'm glad you're resting. How many weeks are you now?

OnNaturesCourse · 16/06/2017 13:19

Lemon... I get 8 weeks which will start once I get my meeting next week to formally issued noticed. The notice period will mostly be on garden leave. I do have the chance at redeployment in the 8 weeks but unless the job ticks all boxes, isn't training heavy etc then I'll not take it. I'm not taking any old thing just to stay. We worked out we could live comfortable for around 20 months if we are careful.

All.... Yes, I did have crazy dreams. Some sexual too, DP loved the mornings lol. Xxx

millsbynight · 16/06/2017 13:24

New thread Grin

Still here. Currently curled up in bed watching One Born Every Minute. Good news is I've been managing to keep food and fluids down since being on buccastem.

DeadDoorpost · 16/06/2017 14:20

I could never watch One Born... I'm still not enthused about being pregnant 😂😂 mind you I can't watch anything with real-looking blood in it either so...

Hollyhop17 · 16/06/2017 15:59

Hi everyone. Sorry to hear about reduncdancy On. Sounds like you have a good plan in place. It is shocking how many of us are in the position of losing our jobs. Hugs to all worried about it.

I am having such an odd time with HG at the moment. Keeping good and fluids down, apart from one meal, normally dinner. From early evening the nausea gets really bad and then for the past 4 nights once I've gone to bed I have had epic throwing up sessions. 6/7 times. I know it seems trivial to complain when I only have 3 weeks left, but I am so tired of STILL being sick at 35 weeks.

I thought finally leaving work would really lift my mood, and having an induction date, but I still feel quite low and gloomy. At my NCT class this morning the other girls were excitedly talking about their mat leave and how nice it'll be to have time off before the baby comes. I just thought, another thing I wont really get. The nausea is still quite bad so dont feel up to doing much during the day.

I'm sorry to complain, I know others have it a lot worse. Waves to everyone.

Lemondrop99 · 16/06/2017 16:55

Holly look how close you are to the top of the list now! I'm officially #weljel 😂

Hollyhop17 · 16/06/2017 17:33

I was excited to see that there are only 4 people ahead of me. I'm having a sweep on the 4th of July, so hoping I might bring it forward by like a day 🤣. If I go naturally I can use the MLU, which is so much nicer than the Labour ward...

How is work Lemon? Are you back in the office?

pippanippa · 16/06/2017 18:42

Holly congratulations on finishing work and getting nearer to the top of that list! It is horrible that you're still ill, especially seeing others enjoying things. But, on the other hand, I found that everyone I knew that breezed through pregnancy (I was so jealous!) found it quite a shock when baby arrived and they were suddenly absolutely exhausted with no sleep. I on the other hand felt marvellous for the first time in ages, I didn't even notice the sleep deprivation as I just felt so well. It was such a nice role reversal Wink.

Yay it was a better day here, success!! (you have to love it when only throwing up 6 or so times in a day is a good day!)

Hollyhop17 · 16/06/2017 18:47

Yeah I get that Pippa. I keep thinking life with a new born cant be as bad as this. I feel likeI I'll be able to do anything when I'm not feeling so nauseous. Also, my DH can help, which always makes me feel like it must be slightly easier. The burden is shared, unlike HG...

So glad you're feeling better and able to keep stuff down. I know what you mean, at my class today, I said I'm only throwing up one meal a day now and only sick 6/7 times a day. Which is quite good but they were all shocked!

Lemondrop99 · 16/06/2017 19:17

Pippa I've had a few people with HG tell me that a newborn is a doddle in comparison, so hopefully we've all got that to look forward too!

No news on the work front Holly. I should get a redundancy meeting next week. I think I'll get job matched but there will be more people than vacancies so I'll probably have to go through an application process before giving out if I get made redundant or not. I'm still mostly working from home, to friggin hot for those trains and my manager isn't pressuring me to rush back in so I don't plan too!

LucindaE · 16/06/2017 19:29

DeadDoorPost What an awful dream! The sort where you are so happy to wake up. I remember very vivid dreams - one about pulling chewed up biscuits out of my mouth by hand Shock.
Hollyhop You are so right. I hope that is six heaves, not six individual sessions?
Much sympathy over those having to go through redundancy.
millsbynight I am glad the buccastem is helping.
can'tdothisagain I am sorry to hear about that. I certainly never heard of that.
Waves to all.

Yeah Lucinda, one session but 6/7 heaves. The last few tend to just be bile. It is weird that it is just at nighttime for the past few days.

Lemon, glad to hear you aren't being pressured into returning to the office.

Melleebacca · 16/06/2017 21:20

Holly - with it being night time heaves, I would say it's exhaustion making the sickness worse.
Any nesting urges to help pass the last few weeks? I wrote a list of all the cleaning I want done before baby gets here, and I'm trying to tick one room off a week. I only clean when I'm not feeling too awful and then go back to lying down.

Pippa - I second the newborn easier than HG. For the first 6w of DD life, it felt like a dream how easy it was because I had energy again. Then she started sleeping a bit less and was less predictable, but I never got the newborn haze that people talk about. I think it might change with number 2, but at least I will be able to eat chocolate for energy.

Waves to all.

Oklahoma · 16/06/2017 21:33

SO true on the newborn being easier. Not feeling sick 24/7 is the best feeling in the world. I remember sitting on the sofa sobbing with happiness because weetabix didn't taste of anything after I had DD. I don't think I had realised how sick I still felt on my good days when I thought I was ok.

Hollyhop17 · 16/06/2017 21:38

Thanks Mellee. That makes sense, I have been more tired at night time than usual as I have been back at work. Hoping having a slightly less tiring day today will result in no being sick. The nausea is here sadly though. When isn't it, eh?

I do have some nesting urges, but to be ashamedly honest, I have someone coming in to clean the whole house next week. The smells of cleaning products really set me off... DH is putting up shelves in nursery tomorrow, so I can plan and put up books.

How is your nesting going?!

Melleebacca · 17/06/2017 01:48

Holly - rest up. I find sitting in the nursery really calming.
Nesting is going as well as it can with a toddler. I wrote my list 2 weeks ago and I'm yet to tick off any rooms. I can always just spend an hour in the nursery to tick that one off if I get really desperate.
When I was nearing the end with DD, I started trying to do one small chore a day, to distract me from the endless countdown. I can post a recipe for some good cookies that aren't too offensive and can help with lactation. I made them and froze them for snacks.

Oklahoma - yes, yes, yes! It wasn't till my first meal in hospital when I realized how sick I must've been, even though I would've said I was good all 3rd trimester. The bad aftertaste of eating anything was finally gone!
