I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Haich - it's good if baby is on the left side. My midwife said that baby needs to be on the left for a faster delivery. DD changed daily till I went into labour, but thankfully was on the left in the end and active labour was about 12hrs.
Don't worry too much about the growth scan, they're really common here. I had 2 with DD and I will have one in 2wks. They're less concerned about my very small bump this time around because DD was a good size.

Hollyhop17 · 20/06/2017 21:03

Haich, I am well pleased to see only 2 people ahead of me, when did that happen?! I am so glad I am being induced, I just cant imagine 5 more weeks of this. If you come early you could well deliver next month! I have also had a ton of braxton hicks today, makes my nausea worse too. As does his hiccups weirdly. My LO is on the big side, 70th centile. I have my 36 week scan on Thursday, keen to see how much he weighs now and hopefully if he is engaged... Just see it as another opportunity to see them!

DeadDoorpost · 20/06/2017 21:32

@LucindaE you misread my post.. my scan is in the 6th my due date is still the 19th. 😂☺

LucindaE · 20/06/2017 22:00

DeadDoorPost Silly me - what a daft mistake to make! I may be harrassed today, but that's no excuse. All luck for the scan. Blush Hollyhop No race there, unfortunately! weasledee Let's hope I've got that addition right, anyway.

I dont mind Lucinda, still only 2 people ahead of me!!

Oklahoma · 21/06/2017 09:04

Deaddoor my scan is 5 July so I'll race you to freedom. There are quite a few of us due around the same time.

Lucinda my DD is actually 21 November which as far as I can tell is pretty much the one date the baby is guaranteed not to come.

Progress meeting for Oklette at nursery this morning, she is also being exceedingly clingy at the moment. Think a combo of house move, baby on the way, me being ill and the heat. Poor little thing.

Plodding on here. Some ok days but the heat is killing me. It makes the nausea so much worse

pippanippa · 21/06/2017 09:33

I am very jealous of all these scans coming up. They give a quick scan at each appointment here but do the proper, detailed, scans separately and I've just realised that my 20 week scan isn't actually booked until 22.5 weeks so will be waiting a while yet.

Otherwise plodding along here, but no particularly bad days like last week (yet!). Still hot here, so not venturing out of the house much. Hope some of you are having a good day!

Lemondrop99 · 21/06/2017 10:13

Happy heatwave.....

Hyperemesis Support
HGpg · 21/06/2017 10:54

When is this heatwave going to stop!? Am starting to constantly smell like a trucker!

Had my anomaly scan yesterday - all perfect which is such a relief as was so scared about all the medication I have been on - and it's a boy! Celebrated the good news by puking up my dinner :)

DeadDoorpost · 21/06/2017 11:02

Oak are you finding out what you're having or keeping it a surprise?
pippa at least you know when it's going to be. My midwife hurried the x-ray department up for me so I didn't have to wait... I think she knows how nervous I am about the whole thing. I also told her about the sickness and she felt so sorry for me and redid all my weight measurements etc when I told her I'd lost another stone from the last appointment.
HGpg heatwave should stop tonight or tomorrow according to the forecast. And yay for a boy! I think mine's a boy but could be surprised. I just hope they didn't miss me having twins coz that would be too much for me (runs hugely on both sides of the famalam)

1984FS · 21/06/2017 12:06

Hi Everyone,
I spoke to a GP today who has swapping me over onto Cyclizine today (from Phenergan). Is this much the same or better in anybody's opinion? He did seem very concerned about my dehydration in this stupid heatwave and you will be pleased to hear did not recommend ginger!! Wink so generally an ok outcome I think. I now have some ketostix which I will have a go with later. I hope to get up and move around the house a bit today if the heat allows, my legs feel numb from being stuck on the sofa!! Fingers crossed. Hope everyone is doing ok so far today and keeps cool. X

weasledee · 21/06/2017 12:11

Loving the ginger pic Lemon Grin

Lemondrop99 · 21/06/2017 12:13

1984, cyclizine and phenargan (promethazine) are both antihistamines so quite similar. That's said, sometimes one only works for one person while not for someone else. I found cyclizine did nothing but phenargan was slightly more effective. Others swear cyclizine was their miracle drug. So definitely worth a go. That said, if you don't see any improvement, do go back as there are other things you can try

Thingymaboob · 21/06/2017 12:13

@1984FS
Hmmmm. Cyclizine is the same in my opinion. Unfortunately I don't find it effective at all but I do still take it at night as it's effective at generally relaxing me to point I can sleep but its not ondansetron. Did your GP consider ondansetron? Why oh why oh why are GPs so resistant to prescribing it?

Lemondrop99 · 21/06/2017 12:14

Great new HG! Another boy! There seems to be disproportionately more bit babies on this thread than girls. Naughty boys Grin (I'm having a boy too). Blows the old wives tale clean out the water about girls causing more sickness!

1984FS · 21/06/2017 13:06

@Lemondrop99 @Thingymaboob
Hi Both, thank you - quite similar opinions there on Cyclizine.. I will see how I get on with it, I just don't want to get any worse as I'm already not loving life right now! X

Thingymaboob · 21/06/2017 13:15

@Lemondrop99 I was told it was boys who caused more sickness!

DeadDoorpost · 21/06/2017 13:21

@1984FS cyclizine worked for 1.5 weeks for me then just totally became ineffective. If you find they work then yay! But as soon as you notice them not working then phone your GP up immediately. Usually they'll follow the NiCE guidelines so move you on to another drug. Try it out but always let them know if they're not working.

As for me I barely slept last night 2nd I've currently thrown up everything I've had today so far. Which isn't usual if I've had a tablet so maybe I'm just suffering from the heat today

Thingymaboob · 21/06/2017 15:08

Silly me. Woke up feeling quite well and started getting worried about disappearing pregnancy symptoms. I should really take those nice hours and enjoy them because sickness always comes back. Grrrrr

LucindaE · 21/06/2017 15:59

Hollyhop You are indeed near the top of the dreadful Hyperemesis board game, The fabulous Pink Castle is within sight...
DeadDoorPost I wonder if this humidity is a factor? I'm not sure if there are thunderstorms generally threatening, or just here in northern Powys.
Good luck to all those awaiting scans. The chances are massively in your favour all will be fine.
HGpg Good scan news!
Thingymaboob That is one of the awful things on this thread - sufferers don't enjoy the good days - earlier on, anyway.
Lemondrop Is is interesting that at the moment there is a large number of boys expected - normally, it's pretty evenly distributed, if that means anything.
Oklahoma Changed it.

Waves to everyone.
Let's hope this list is right. Confused

Afternoon all. I found cyclizine did nothinh for me at all, but then apart from ondandsetron, promethezine has been the best for me. Sadly, while ondansetron helps pretty much everyone, all the others ones are very individual, so no way to know without trying. I hope it helps.

Sorry to those having a bad day. I am having an uncharacteristicallly good day today, even the nausea has been minimal. Given I have been struggling these past few days, I'll take it! Currently sat in my new paddling pool, which is lovely and cooling but need to get out as it has zero back support, boooo.

Hyperemesis Support
HaichM · 21/06/2017 17:13

Holly: glad you enjoyed the paddling pool. I don't think I would have the energy to set mine up and I wouldn't last long in it with my back anyway.

Mellee: I didn't know that about the left side. Baby loves that side so I'll see it as a positive especially if it means labour is less than 31 hours this time.

Cyclizine did nothing for me either but there have been women on here who found it really useful.

Does anyone know whether mumsnet has a 'friends' function?

Hollyhop17 · 21/06/2017 17:15

What's a friends function Haich?

Thingymaboob · 21/06/2017 17:17

I rung my midwife today as have been feeling very drained / short of breath and she said my iron levels were good! I'm shocked I'm not anaemic as I have had a diet of hula hoops and potatoes for weeks. I guess I have been taking pregnacare so at least that's ok!

1984FS · 21/06/2017 18:10

Not holding out much hope for my new medication - but hoping the temperature drop tomorrow will help us all. x
