I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

@YoureNotASausage
It's my first time and I'm almost 10 weeks so I don't know but I'm in a living hell right now!
Unfortunately ondansetron is no longer a miracle drug! It does stop me throwing up but feel super nauseous today despite taking it 😭😭😭😭😭😭🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩☹️

YoureNotASausage · 12/06/2017 13:22

Hang in there Thingame, I remember how shocked and low I was the first time to be so unwell. It's really cruel to have to suffer like this rather than enjoy excitement but you will be able to look back and feel epic for being well in hopefully a few more weeks. I've a mountain to climb to get to where u are😭. But we can do it.

Lemondrop99 · 12/06/2017 16:03

Sorry to hear Mother Hen has been feeling poorly Sad migraines are the worst! Hope you recover soon

Sausage, weeks 6-10 were the absolute worst for me. Weeks 11-14 weren't great either. I got slowly better since week 16-20. Since week 20 things have been better. Not gone but nothing like that first trimester. Hang in there!

Thingy, sorry you're having a bad day. Ondansetron didn't relieve my symptoms entirely either. I've always have peaks and troughs, feeling awful some days but better on others. Perhaps you are the same? I expect you're still doing a lot better on the ondansetron than you would be without it. Fingers crossed this is a blip that will pass. You know you can tak other drugs with ondansetron (cyclizine, promethezine and I believe metaclopramide and proclopramide too). I top up with promethazine when I'm having a really bad day. Something to discuss with your GP?

I had my 24 week check with my GP today. We've decided I am going to try taking proclopramide on my bad days, instead of ondansetron. Proclopramide didn't help me much before but I was far worse back then, hoping it can help me now and keep me away from constipation city!! Otherwise check was fine, no trace in my urine this time. I also had my whooping cough vaccination.

I handed in my maternity leave dates today. I have 30 days holiday to take so, even triggering my mat leave just a few days before my expected due date, I get to finish work on 11 August Grin Just nine weeks! I'm dead excited.

Individual consultations start tomorrow so should have some idea about number of job cuts and whether I am being made redundant....

Thingymaboob · 12/06/2017 16:18

@Lemondrop99 I'm 10 weeks on Wednesday so really hoping it will start to improve.

I haven't showered since Thursday (I think!?!?!) The thought just made feel sick. I will shower NOW! #4dayswithsickinmyhair

Lemondrop99 · 12/06/2017 16:33

Fingers crossed for you. I sat on the floor of the shower once and got DH to wash my hair!! It's hard but you might feel slightly better after a shower

millsbynight · 12/06/2017 16:46

Quick question: those of us signed off work, does anyone else just sleep on bad days? Like all the time? I napped for 6 hours today after a full night sleep. I just feel constantly exhausted.

@Hollyhop17 gorgeous nursery pictures!!

Mustang27 · 12/06/2017 16:50

@FlapAttack88 how did you get on this afternoon.

Sorry you are suffering Lucinda.

Thingymaboob · 12/06/2017 17:00

@Lemondrop99 I've showered now. Feel very nauseous! Think I just found it exhausting

@millsbynight I'm not signed off yet but probably will be this week. I have been on annual leave for 4 days and have been taking long naps.

DeadDoorpost · 12/06/2017 19:05

mills Didn't need signing off as i finished uni but im sleeping all the damn time.

I've not been around for a while so hi guys waves it's been an interesting week.. my nan got rushed to hospital with pneumonia and that's just after an emergency operation as well so not good. Kept on the downlow just in case things went sour but she's doing fine thank goodness.
As for me... I decided to see if I could go without taking a tablet today as I woke up feeling totally fine. Ate toast and a Viennese finger biscuit no problem. Was rather happy. And then spectacularly threw up about 2 hours after in the bin in my bedroom. First time I've never been able to make it to the loo. So tablets it still is for me. 😣😭😭 and then threw up 30 mins later but feeling much better now.

questions do you get weird cramps on either side of your stomach? I'm 17 weeks so is this normal? And I'm also suffering from a weird type of constant headache that's not painful enough for me to say it's a proper headache but it's certainly there and being felt. What do you reckon I should do? I'm still keeping fluids down and having no problems passing urine...

Thingymaboob · 12/06/2017 19:13

@DeadDoorpost glad your nan is ok
What medication are you taking?

Melleebacca · 12/06/2017 19:32

Deaddoor - mild cramps on the sides of the uterus are likely to be round ligament pains, which is just part of everything stretching. Most common in second trimester. If you're really concerned, mention it at your next appt.
Headaches are a side effect of ondansetron. I also get them when my dehydration levels are in a certain range.

Lucinda - sorry to hear about the migraines. My mum swears by a little bit of baking soda and salt in water when it starts coming on.

Lemon - yay 9w of work! It's lovely to have something closer to count down to.

Holly - nursery looks fab. DD is obsessed with Mickey at the moment, so she would love that.

Waves to everyone I've missed.

In agony from stupid constipation. Staying close to home as much as possible till everything settles down. Pregnancy sucks.

Thingymaboob · 12/06/2017 19:37

Just a quick question- how much ondansetron are people taking?

Hollyhop17 · 12/06/2017 19:41

I have had a pregnancu style melt down today. Problems with the mobile site has meant I have typed out 3 long messages which didnt post. I just sobbed after the last one didnt work Sad.

My DH has, hopefully, got it working on another browser...

Survived first day back although left at 3 due to massive vomming session. Bit annoying as I hadnt been sick since spectatular session at nct last Weds... 2.5 days left, cant wait for it to be over.

Lemon, woohoo 9 weeks. I hope it flys by for you! Fingers crossed re redundancy.

Thanks for lovely comments re Nursery, DH will be ever so pleased with your comment Mother Hen! It is a big weight off my mind and has made me feel a lot better about preparedness.

Haich, exciting times ahead! Do you know when the move day is? Sure Oklahoma will have some good tips for you.

Dead, glad to hear your nan is ok. I would mention headache to midwife. I think it can be a sign of pre-eclampsia. Probably best to be on the safe side.

I really hope your migrane goes soon Lucinda. Waves to everyone.

DeadDoorpost · 12/06/2017 20:29

Thingy im on ondansetron. And I take 1x4mg tablet a day but can take 2 if needed. 1 seems to do the trick for me. I'm lucky in that respect.

Mellee and Holly I'll keep it in check but glad it's a side effect of ondansetron even though it's not affected me before. If its not gone by tomorrow I'll do something about it.

Thingymaboob · 12/06/2017 20:31

1 a day was doing it for me too but now I've had to take 2 today. I'm still so anxious about taking it!

FlapAttack88 · 12/06/2017 21:04

@mustang27 thanks for thinking of me. All is ok. Has been a traumatic day as they cancelled my appointment at local hospital as the consuktant specialist off sick. I just broke down as I had dragged myself through the weekend staying strong and I just couldn't keep it up any longer.

They couldn't re book me til thursday and I jusy cried down the phone. Vomiting has been so much worse with the worry and I just felt battered to bits thinking about another 3 days. They took pity on me and sent me to another hospital that is actually the even more specialist place.. was really lucky as the consultant who saw me had to get the cardiac specialist to see me too as wasn't sure so would have been referred her anyway

Was there for 3 hours and never spent sp long being scAnned but finally she said she was happy all looked ok and that although there are some things that would appear to the less trained eye as a bit abnormal that she thinks things are ok and all structures seem.ok.. its just the angle of the heart and it needed a trained eye to work.it all.out.

So fingers crossed thays the all clear now.

So relieved and exhausted now .. think will take a couple of days to sink in againthat all.is ok x

flossyfloss · 12/06/2017 21:05

I take 3 a day and sometimes 4 of it's really bad xx

Thingymaboob · 12/06/2017 21:09

@FlapAttack88 I'm so pleased. Are you feeling relieved?

flossyfloss · 12/06/2017 21:10

Flapattack cross posted. Thank goodness all is ok I'm so pleased and relieved for you Flowers

Thingymaboob · 12/06/2017 21:12

@flossyfloss thanks for sharing. Why do I still feel so bad for taking it?

FlapAttack88 · 12/06/2017 21:14

Thank you all. Very relieved. Amazed how awe some the NHS is and the dedicated staff. Lady stayed late to see me evwn though she had to call.someone to pick up her daughter. I think it just needs to sink in now.. was such a long time there with so many people I was truly bracing for bad news.. the first lady who saw me today said it didn't look good but then sorry she had read the wrong measurement .. so My emotions were all over the show x

cantdothisagain2017 · 12/06/2017 21:30

I feel bad taking ondansetron too but found a good page of info basically saying the risks are so small and it's reassured me a bit. I needed 2 today as felt really sick this afternoon and had to look after the children so had to take it

cantdothisagain2017 · 12/06/2017 21:31

This reassured me
