I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Cross posted Lemon so glad you had a nice consultant. It's a relief when they say that but the extra scans are nice to break up the last 2 months but not good if there are concerns. Why the extra vitamins? Just die to the level of sickness?

millsbynight · 05/06/2017 20:56

Hi ladies can I join?

I'm 10+0 and due Dec 30th

So I think I suffer from HG! Apart from working the bare-minimum 4 days a week at a pretty cushy admin job, I'm bed-bound and have palmed by beautiful DS(6) of to his dad's most weekends as I just can't handle doing anything except sleeping and vomiting at the moment. My nausea is off the charts - it lasts all day everyday, I vomit at least 3x a day but it's mostly just bile and fluid coming up although sometimes I throw up whole meals, I can't keep water down and get really bad headaches from dehydration. Im fact I just had a glass of water and threw it all up so I know it's serious.

I've vomited at work and on the way to and from work a lot. I'm thinking of seeing my GP to get signed off for a few weeks - does any one know how easy or difficult this is?

I was really bad with DS throughout my pregnancy but never clicked it was HG and I wasn't working at the time so could rest during the day.

My daily life is in pieces, I struggle to keep it together on the tube, I struggle to meet friends as I start feeling nauseous, my work is suffering, my poor DH is being mum and dad at the moment plus doing all the household chores as I just can't right now. I can't go down in to my kitchen as it STINKS. I start gagging when walking down the stairs just knowing I'm going down to the kitchen. Doesn't smell when not pregnant but makes me gag and dry heave and sometimes vomit in the sink if I go down in there. Also the utility room makes me gag, the smell of washing powder sends me over the edge.

Sorry for all the rambling. I'm just really suffering and glad I know what it is now! Just don't know where to go from here...

DeadDoorpost · 05/06/2017 21:15

mills my mum had the same problem with the washing powder while pregnant with me.. That and she couldn't stand the smell of my dad or the entire house so moved back in with her mum it got so bad.

mustang DH is really looking forward to it. He s wanted kids for a long time (He's 28 and from a large family) so he'll definitely be helping out once the baby is born. He s helping out now as well. I'm just glad he likes kids coz it means I can have a break for maybe 9 months then be the one to go to work instead of him. It's what's keeping me going at the moment... roll on a job with a publishing house!!

millsbynight · 05/06/2017 21:27

Waves also to weasel and thingy!

@DeadDoorpost that's hilarious 😂 Your poor dad! My DH has asked a couple of times if I think he smells, thank god he genuinely doesn't. When I was with ExP and pregnant with DS we visited his parents a lot and they had a dog and the dog stank so bad. He was a cute little lap dog and kept wanting cuddles on the sofa and I'd just sit there and dry heave over him. Dog never stank when not pregnant.

I also have fond memories of vomiting in my handbag on a plane, vomiting in a McDonalds drive thru in a foreign country and staff yelling at me in a foreign language to go inside to the toilets, and vomiting in the sink in the ladies toilets in a shopping centre in front of a long queue because all the toilets were taken.

Looking forward to all that and more this time around!

weasledee · 05/06/2017 21:31

Hi mills, this is my 3rd and with my previous two my docs have been very supportive, signed my off as they could see how unwell I was. I was sick all day every day upto week 14 and then it turned into "normal" morning sickness :)
Give them a call....

Mustang27 · 05/06/2017 21:39

Dead I shall keep everything crossed that is how it goes, he sounds great and sahd looking after you and your wee one is awesome. I sympathise with your mum my oh stinks not any other time just when I'm pregnant it's like rotting dead dog or something equally horrific smelling Blush. I did suggest I moved out for awhile but he is super needy so won't happen Sad lol.

Mills that sounds awful, I doubt they would argue at all with signing you off and maybe try some meds. They are often not a miracle cure but if it helps you keep some fluids down and not feel totally awful it's worth it and most of the first meds they give are completely proven to be safe during pregnancy.

FlapAttack88 · 05/06/2017 23:16

Hello all. Sorry about the nose vomit ... oh thay horribke :(
Thank you for the good wishes for 1st day bavk at work.. went ok but just can't wait to start maternity already and am only 22 weeks. I feel enormous, nausea still but not a patch on hg anymore.. this feels more like i imagine "normal "morning sickness?!?! It's a relief in a way that I am now having more issues with more standard pregnancy things like my giant cankles... I didn't have any oedema with my first really until the very end but this is so bad I can't get my shoes on!! Think the sunburn has made it worse. I actually had to stop and put my feet up on a stool at work during my free as the swelling was so bad and sore. .. Lots of Hmm expressions. .. I didn't wven care haham. I also hd to wear my giant slouchy winter boots to work which is totally out of the strict business wear uniform policy... if anyone dare challenge me I will.unleash the tomato cankles and orge cocktail sausage toes

FlapAttack88 · 05/06/2017 23:16

Lucinda thank you for my hand scrawled note you can't read haha.. was it about me.being a silly fool.for getting sunburned !!

fourcorneredcircle · 06/06/2017 04:47

Born yesterday evening,
Our very long awaited baby - a son. He was just shy of 7lb.

Ended up having a EMCS. Shudder.
Things got scary for a while but we're both recovering well. Absolutely in love.

LucindaE · 06/06/2017 10:38

Before congratulating FourCorneredCircle I must welcomemillsbynight. You mustn't struggle on as you did last time, sounds exactly like Hyperemesis with that increased sense of smell.
Bossy Mother Hen says do go to the GP to get signed off and get meds. I am concerned about those dehydration headaches - have you got kesostix to check how bad it is? How do you find the juice of tinned fruit - particularly peaches, flat full sugar coke, Elderlower Water, ice lollies, soda water, Dr Pepper, Lucoazade, sips of chocolate milkshake - maybe soya, slices of melon, cuppa soup, nibbles of crisps and cheap ice cream? Someone had the good idea of cocoanut juice.
FourCorneredCircle What a lovely baby. Flowers StarGrin. I hope you feel fine now? Sorry it was a nasty birth experience. You say long awaited: how long is that? Welcome to the Pink Castle at the end of the dreadful Hyperemesis board game.
DeadDoorPost and Flossyfloss and Lemondrop Happy news!
CaptainWarbeck I meant to say, have you got heartburn with the returned sickness? Might an anti acid help or a change of one.
byvelds I so agree with the great advice of others. Sorry the doctor was awful and uninformed.
FlapAttack GrinNot sure what the message was, ha, ha. No pecking was involved. I was really sorry to hear about the legs. My OH had that terribly through neglecting to put on sun tan cream in Malta. He called them 'my lobsters'. Grin
Waves to Hollyhop Mustang and everyone. I'll add the due dates.
