I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

It's crazy to think there are next year's babies baking already! Exciting!

Oklahoma · 06/06/2017 12:34

Woohoo!! I am miles from the bottom now!! 16 weeks today. Sorry have been quiet have been in hospital with cramping and bleeding (I think my body must just hate being pregnant). Having a scan in next few days so hopefully all ok.
Will reply to everyone properly when I have the energy. Hang on in there...

peaceloveandbiscuits · 06/06/2017 13:15

Hello gang! I have indeed reached the pink castle, albeit through the servants entrance at the back.

Baby boy was born on 3/6 weighing 8lb 7oz but has been in NICU until about half an hour ago when he came down to post-natal with me Smile

I vommed in Waitrose the morning I went into labour, which was not my finest moment, and once in labour, but have been vom free for three days now CakeCakeCake

I'm glad to have bumped a few people up the list.

Lemondrop99 · 06/06/2017 13:30

Oh peace, I shouldn't laugh but vomiting in Waitrose! I mean that sort of behaviour is acceptable in Lidl but Waitrose! (Clutches pearls)

I'm so happy for you! Huge congratulations and I'm glad you're feeling better and that your little boy is out of NICU.

OnNaturesCourse · 06/06/2017 13:33

Congratulations!!! WineFlowersCakeGin

mrsb87 · 06/06/2017 13:40

Congrats to the new Mamma's!!
Great scan flossy, I had a scan too on Saturday while I was at the hospital. It's a little sad to be at the bottom of the list. Boo!
My sense of smell has gone INSANE this past day or 2. The fridge is one big NOPE.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 06/06/2017 14:02

You know you live in Surrey when you're in Waitrose buying goats cheese and beetroot crustless quiche when you're in early labour.

cantdothisagain2017 · 06/06/2017 16:07

I feel so dreadful today. I've pulled muscles in my throat and stomach from being sick so much. My lips are dry and I feel absolutely horrendous.
Dh has to work so I'm struggling with dcs and I just can't believe the gp won't give me anything. I called them again and they said I have to wait to see the specialist at hospital again on Friday but Friday seems so far away 😔
I'm really struggling. Ketones aren't too bad so at least that's something but for how long I don't know as I am just getting steadily worse

cantdothisagain2017 · 06/06/2017 16:09

Wish I could buy ondansetron online I'm desperate. I hate my gp

YoureNotASausage · 06/06/2017 16:33

Hi, I'm 7 +4 with #4. I get horrific ms during my pregnancies and am just not coping well. I've just been to the GP and he's prescribed me cyclizine but I feel scared to take it. Reading online there seems to be lots of people with bad side effects?

Also he said I can take it when I really need it rather than 3 times a day and that it would work ad hoc, does anyone do this effectively?

I think I will bite the bullet and try one, I can't live like this for another 10 weeks.

pippanippa · 06/06/2017 17:11

Congratulations peace, what brilliant news, I hope you and your little boy are recovering well and enjoying your first day together, I remember when my little girl finally joined me from NICU a few days after she was born, being reunited was lovely Smile.

Sorry to all those suffering today. youreNotaSausage don't worry, cyclizine is safe, there are some side effects, tiredness seems to be the most common one, but it will affect everyone differently so is worth trying for a couple of days at least to see. I have been taking something similar and I am still sick but it has really helped with the feeling of nausea.

I have had a surprisingly good few days, still being sick of course, but only 2-3 times a day and have out of nowhere got some energy. Today I went for a walk with DD and didn't have to sit down for 2 hours afterwards, it was a miracle, I felt like I was being a proper mum again. I know it's probably just a fluke but am grateful, I have been feeling very guilty about constantly relying on babysitters. Hope some of you are having a good day too.

millsbynight · 06/06/2017 17:48

fourcornered what a beautiful boy! Congratulations! He's absolutely adorable. Congratulations on making it to the pink castle also peace

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone, especially mother hen Lucinda. Have been alternating between lucozade, chocolate milk, full fat coke, and the syrup from tinned pears Grin Have been having cravings for tinned pears. I also managed to keep a McDonalds meal down today after only 3 bites of a croissant for breakfast before feeling sick.

GP has prescribed me Buccastem - does anyone know if it works/helps? He said it sits under the gum so no risk of me throwing it up if I was taking an oral tablet but also said I could come back for something else if this doesn't work. I'm worried though as after researching Buccastem online it says not to take in pregnancy!? My mum is too scared for me to take anything given the horrors of thalidomide in the 70s & 80s.

GP has also signed me off work for 2 weeks with a review thereafter for another possible 2 weeks. He was surprised I'd been making it in to work so far. Work was unhappy but my job can easily be filled by a temp so I think they're just more annoyed they have to faff around on the admin side of things rather than worry my job is really important.

Threw up some lucozade but apart from that have spent all day in bed sleeping.

cantdothisagain I know what you mean by pulling muscles from being so sick. When pregnant with DS I started vomiting streaks of blood around 14 weeks. I asked my GP wtf was happening and he said because I'd been throwing up so much I damaged my oesophagus!!! Shock

weasledee · 06/06/2017 17:49

After feeling horrific yesterday and getting signed off by the docs this morning.... this afternoon all symptoms have gone away! Highly stressed obvs, normally with my HG is starts and never stops for a solid 8 weeks! Anyone had sporadic bad sickness....? Confused

flossyfloss · 06/06/2017 18:50

Weaseldee that happened to me last week, symptoms completely disappeared for about 8 hours I was having kittens but it came back with a vengeance Sad

pippanippa · 06/06/2017 18:59

fourcornered I missed your post, sorry, things have moved v. quickly on this thread, he's beautiful, congratulations, hope you're both recovering well!

NonStopDisco · 06/06/2017 19:03

oklahoma I was in last week with the same, after a vaginal examination, blood tests and a scan they let me go as bleeding is outside the pregnancy, but have to have a follow up scan in the morning- little worried because they can't tell me what is happening!

Sickness has completely gone again (aside from a single dry heave when I hit the water too hard the other day), I'm assuming I'm one of the lucky ones where 16 weeks is the end of sickness?

mills Buccastem is the same as Stemitil, I was on this but in tablet form. Docs will prescribe it because HG is more of a risk to you than medicine is to baby

waves to all sorry not read the thread for a while will catch up later!

weasledee · 06/06/2017 19:06

Thanks flossy :)

LucindaE · 06/06/2017 19:11

YourNotASausage Welcome. No. four? Goodness, you are brave. No need for me to recommend kesostix, coke, etc. You've had great advice over cyclizine. I am not medically qualfiied and suppose the GP knew what s/he was saying, but I've always understood that it doesn't work properly unless you take it regularly? Very likely I have got it wrong, though. Have you got childcare help in place?
peaceloveandbiscuts Again congratulations. Star[ FlowersGrinBrewCake Much sympathy about Waitrose puking. I'm glad baby is with you now.
millsbynight I am so glad the liquids are going down.
can'tdothisagain That is infuriating;' do phone 024 7368 2020 Pregnancy Sickness Support about getting meds. They will ring you up with good advice.
GA from pippanippa Glad to hear of good days. They are often a sign of the turnaround.
weasledee Very likely it is just a good day, just from being able to rest and not worrying abut work. Obviously, it can make you nervous.
Oklahoma I am so glad you are moving up at last.
Apologies if I've cross posted or overlooked anyone. Waves to OnNature'sCourse Disco Hollhop and everyone...

mrsb87 · 06/06/2017 19:17

can'tdothisagain have you tried calling out of hours? They're often a lot better at prescribing meds than GP's.

pippanippa · 06/06/2017 19:20

Oklahoma sorry, I missed your post too, how stressful and worrying, I hope everything is ok.

Thingymaboob · 06/06/2017 19:26

@weasledee @flossyfloss
I'm 9 weeks and woke up not heaving yesterday and today, which was weird and a relief but I was also worried. I was sick 8-10 times on Sunday and was very close to going to hospital, I have previously had miscarriage so was convinced that less vomiting was a sign!
I am feeling very nauseous this evening. I did vomit once which is so much less than usual. I have cried 50% of the day. I am not coping in work (NHS trainer). Feel bloody awful all day. Was teaching earlier and had starry eyes. I took my blood sugar which was normal. Given that my entire team (apart from 2 admin) are medical professionals, they could be more sympathetic. There's another team (all admin) in my office and they're lovely, always asking how I am, giving me hugs and generally checking in. I feel really really pissed off.
