The wait for labour

Anyone up for a support thread for those of us waiting to go into labour? I am 37 +2 today. My first baby was born at 39 + 6 but I was in prelabour from 38 + 6. I am on maternity leave and I have lots of things I would like to do but nothing I really need to do. The bags are packed. Just waiting now. Anyone else?

No progress here either, booked for induction tomorrow (will be 42 weeks by scan dates, 41+4 by my own more accurate ones Wink) Would have preferred if things started naturally but am more than ready to meet this baby now. Getting very excited!

Badgerbird · 25/05/2017 21:38

Seeing as you were so dilated at your sweep cel hopefully it won't take much tomorrow. Good luck :)

peaceloveandbiscuits · 25/05/2017 21:46

No progress. Still hurting but hasn't got worse, just constant.

AFlibbertigibbet · 25/05/2017 23:39

Evening, another one here wanting to join please, due 9 June with baby no 2, but have a c-section planned for 2 June as baby is an unstable lie and likes doing regular somersaults.

Currently on my fourth night on the antenatal ward - if the little acrobat goes head down or breech for 48 hours I can go home. Unfortunately it seems to be enjoying spinning around too much.

Good luck to all of you!

giddyasakipper · 26/05/2017 07:44

Good luck today Cel!

tiba · 26/05/2017 09:27

Major period type cramps this morning on and off for about 3 hours.

Managed a bath and they had calmed down.

Not ready yet!

space83 · 26/05/2017 09:59

Can I join please? Second growth scan today ( less than 10%) with breech transverse bubba 37*2. Getting csection date hopefully...been a rollercoaster with this one, defo just sticking at two!!!

Sundaygal · 26/05/2017 10:10

I'm 36+5 but feel this one may be early. I've had regular, uncomfortable tightenings and pain up and down my back in waves for the last 3 days. This is number 3 for us. As much as I'm done with this pregnancy - its been rough, I also want to wait until my parents arrive to help with the other two ... we'll see what happen!

Congrats Jon - beautiful baby!!

peaceloveandbiscuits · 26/05/2017 10:30

Can't stop crying today Sad

LikeaSnowflake · 26/05/2017 10:49

40+2 today. Had an attempted sweep yesterday but cervix still closed. Bit of bleeding after but nothing since. I felt closer to labour last week with lots more cramping etc.

DC1 came at 40+6 following a sweep. Disheartened at the thought of another 4 days, let alone waiting even longer...I am grumpy!

Cel982 · 26/05/2017 10:57

Thanks giddy! Going in at 2 o'clock. Very excited/nervous - think I'll be more settled once I actually get in there.

JonSnowsWhore · 26/05/2017 11:10

Peace have the pains progressed at all? Could you ask to go in to be examined maybe something's happening & they can speed it along a bit? I know how rubbish it feels.

Good luck today cel can't believe the baby is still clinging on when you're 5cm Grin

peaceloveandbiscuits · 26/05/2017 19:48

Starting and stopping today. I've got a sweep booked for Tuesday. Going to try and spend this weekend eating and sleeping as much as possible.

Badgerbird · 26/05/2017 22:07

I've been out celebrating my due date today Smile Its been a long wait and a bumpy journey and feel very lucky to have got this far!
Now on mission Get Baby Out!

Hope all going well cel

Welcome new peeps!

Hope you get some rest and grub this wknd then peace and you've managed to stop crying Flowers

peaceloveandbiscuits · 26/05/2017 22:32

Thanks! I'm not used to this starting stopping bullshit; last time it just started with a bang and that was that.

Was distracted this afternoon by lovely friends so no more tears :)

Cel982 · 27/05/2017 02:34

Hi all. Still on antenatal ward waiting for bed in delivery, which is very busy apparently. However in the meantime I seem to have gone into labour naturally, which is great. Contractions fairly intense last hour or so. Starting to dream of epidural...

1stTimeRounder · 27/05/2017 03:45

Wow good luck Cel sounds like you'll have baby soon!

I've woken up with some period like cramps in my lower abdomen. Actually hoping this isn't it starting as I'm 37 + 5 and not quite ready to meet baby. Was hoping for 2 weeks of feet up! Plus too hot to sleep now 😐

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 27/05/2017 07:03

Hi cel glad things are getting going for you!

Peace hope things don't take too much longer, it must be so frustrating.

I lost my plug over the course of yesterday but MW warned me that might happen post sweep. No other signs at all! 40+6 today, argh!

LikeaSnowflake · 27/05/2017 07:10

With my DD I was 40+5 and had a sweep which caused me to lose my plug and I went into labour properly the next evening and had her about 8pm so you never know it might now happen!

I'm at 40+3 now this time and nothing yet. Everyone said to me 2nd babies come earlier but it's not looking that way!

mrspage1985 · 27/05/2017 07:19

Can I join? 39+4 and so ready for baby to arrive! Got reflexology later to help with my numb foot and I'm secretly hoping this also brings on labour!! X

SunshineAllTheWhile · 27/05/2017 08:15

Welcome to all new waiters! Smile

Thinking of you cel! It's baby time!

Peace I hope you have a lovely weekend resting. I know totally what you mean - last time my waters broke at 38 weeks and I had a baby 8 hours later. Hopefully there is a bang getting ready to happen for you very soon!

Getting even more impatient here now - due date is Thursday & this is the most pregnant I've ever been - DS1 was a week old in the world by now & I had been convinced this one would be an early bird too. Shows what little I know Sad. I also keep thinking about how much bigger this one is growing by the day and how I'm going to manage the delivery in comparison Shock

Is anyone taking this waiting in their stride? If so any tips would be welcome!

SunshineAllTheWhile · 27/05/2017 08:16

Oh and how are you all getting on JonSnow?

Badgerbird · 27/05/2017 10:57

Hi mrspsge Smile hope reflexology is relaxing (and gets things moving). I've booked in accupuncture next week at 40+5 just incase I need a helping hand to get things going...

cel here's hoping that baby is with you reeeeeally soon!

sunshine thinking about you asking for waiting tips, not sure if you saw my post below but i just try and book in really nice (cheap/free) things to do so I've got something nice each day. I love walking and being outside. Try to see friends.
Maybe do stuff with your DS that will be more tricky to do with 2! Swimming, padding pools? Can someone else have him for a couple of hours so you can get a coffee out alone at all? I'm trying to make the most of this time on my own whilst I have it Confused
I also still have house projects like her nursery to sort, some painting, a photo wall etc that I do bits of here and there....
Ask me again in a few days when I'm going mental though!!?!Shock

notasillysausage · 27/05/2017 10:58

40+2 and really grumpy today. I had very little sleep last night, so feel rotten today. DH is working so I am looking after 4yo DS and just want to go to sleep! The tv has been on none stop and DS is getting out so many toys the house is a mess. Feeling very emotional Sad

JonSnowsWhore · 27/05/2017 11:39

Oh god sunshine this baby just will not be put down to sleep! We're literally tag teaming taking it in turns to sit with him for 2 hours at a time during the night because he won't sleep if you put him in his crib 😳

Tried putting him in his poddle pod, swaddling, talking to him so he know we're there. He's being such a sod but too cute with it!
