The wait for labour

Anyone up for a support thread for those of us waiting to go into labour? I am 37 +2 today. My first baby was born at 39 + 6 but I was in prelabour from 38 + 6. I am on maternity leave and I have lots of things I would like to do but nothing I really need to do. The bags are packed. Just waiting now. Anyone else?

SunshineAllTheWhile · 24/05/2017 18:30

Ahh! Great news & superb work Jon! Gorgeous 😍

1stTimeRounder · 24/05/2017 18:53

Hey can I join too... due June 12th with my first so some time to go, but already feel like baby has run out of space and movements are painful. I finish work on Friday so hoping to have a couple of weeks chilling / nesting and then meet baby!

Congrats Jon ... so cute 😍

Badgerbird · 24/05/2017 19:02

Yay!! Big congratulations jon!!! Smile

Blimey cel looks like you're next then Shock

Hi 1sttime :) Not long till mat leave then you can enjoy it a bit more.

So on top of the period type pains and achey back I actually scrubbed skirtings today!! Early labour signs/body getting ready hopefully :)

Spam88 · 24/05/2017 19:22

Aw yay! Congratulations Jon! What a gorgeous little baby 😍

Hope so! Had a show about an hour ago, lots of achy pain in my tummy and lower back but no definite contractions yet... Bag is packed and at the door and my friend is prepared to come over to look after DD as soon as I call. Fingers crossed!

MrsJW15 · 24/05/2017 20:47

Had a pessary put in about 6 hours ago. Had a show and have had loads of lower back pain. Generally just very uncomfortable and hoping this is a good sign! We are at home until contractions get very close together, or 24 hours has passed.

teenybean · 24/05/2017 23:20

Ohhhh, can I join? We're due 20th June, but ds was a couple of days early & dd was 2 weeks early, do I'm hoping this one is too.
Congrats to the ladies who have already had their little bundles, jon your baby is beautiful!
I'm so bloody hot & uncomfortable, as soon as we hit 37 weeks, I'm ready for baby to come!
Heartburn, braxton hicks & piles are not my friend! Sad

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 25/05/2017 06:53

Hi teeny

Cel and mrs I hope things are moving for you!

I have my sweep booked this morning so hopefully that will work. I've been feeling fairly relaxed about being overdue but I've realised I'm pinning a lot of hopes on my sweep!

notasillysausage · 25/05/2017 07:18

Congratulations Jon what a gorgeous baby and well done!

Good luck to all those having sweeps/inductions! It's my due date today and still waiting, I have a sweep next Wednesday but that seems a lifetime away.

Cel982 · 25/05/2017 08:54

Morning all! Hope everyone's hanging in there. Not much progress here, a few sporadic contractions this morning but they seem to have settled now.
How are you getting on, MrsJW? MissMoo?

peaceloveandbiscuits · 25/05/2017 09:19

I'm really really really done today. Can't do it anymore. Have back ache and tummy ache, and have caught a cold so feel like I've been beaten up. 2yo wants to be on me constantly, I want to be left alone. I've got a friend coming over later so need to do housework but hurt every time I move.

Cry.

WoopWoop200 · 25/05/2017 09:25

Can I join pleeeeease?
I am 38+5. Been in 'Latent phase of labour' since Monday. Half tempted to squeeze myself like a tube of toothpaste so baby pops out Grin
Hope everyone else is holding up. Congrats to those who have delivered Flowers

JonSnowsWhore · 25/05/2017 10:51

Thanks everyone, got home at midnight last night, but there's nothing like getting home to sleep in your own bed!! Keeping an eye on here to check for updates from everyone else!

peaceloveandbiscuits · 25/05/2017 11:49

Can't remember what contractions feel like ffs.

JonSnowsWhore · 25/05/2017 12:15

See mine didn't feel very 'tight' this time like the braxton hicks did, they were just like the worst period pain you can imagine

peaceloveandbiscuits · 25/05/2017 12:16

Ah that'll be them then.

Badgerbird · 25/05/2017 14:53

peace I really hope you sacked off the housework and cancelled friend coming over unless they are gonna look after your 2 yo! Sounds like you are on your way to having your baby....

Hope sweep went well unusual

Bet it's good to be home jon, hope you are both going well ;)

Hi new peeps Smile

Was getting a bit excited by bedtime as had a few symptoms but a great nights sleep and I feel back to "normal" now...

Applesandpears23 · 25/05/2017 15:27

Just saw midwife. Bad news is baby is back to back. Good news is baby is fully engaged (0/5 palpable).

itsmeyouknow · 25/05/2017 15:27

Can I join I too ? 15 June, first one was pretty much on time.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 25/05/2017 16:01

Cancelled friend, begged DH to come home and look after 2yo. I've had a very hot bath and been lying in bed with TENS attached. Every so often I turn the machine off to see how I'm faring, but the pain is sickening. So although the TENS masks the pain, I still feel really achey and weak. I hope this is the start of something because I can't ask DH to stay at home every day if I'm going to feel like this for ages.
I can only remember the bad bits of labour from last time, so keep thinking, ach, I'm fine, it's not that bad yet... Confused

tiba · 25/05/2017 17:22

38+1 today. FTM.

Moses basket delivered today.
Bags packed.

Never been so scared and excited at the same time.

Not enjoying the sweltering heat. It's been 28 degrees here!

giddyasakipper · 25/05/2017 17:32

The heat is horrendous isn't it! I'm seriously considering ordering a paddling pool to lay down in!

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 25/05/2017 19:02

Peace that sounds rubbish, I hope it's the start of everything for you.

Apples great the baby is engaged although Angry at back to back.

My sweep was fine although no changes/signs as yet which is a bit gutting! Induction booked for the 2nd, fingers crossed it won't be needed.

vanilla8 · 25/05/2017 20:14

Can I join you all, 40+1 today and had a sweep yesterday.
Spotting has now stopped and still no sign of progression, except active baby and more rib pain!
