The wait for labour

Anyone up for a support thread for those of us waiting to go into labour? I am 37 +2 today. My first baby was born at 39 + 6 but I was in prelabour from 38 + 6. I am on maternity leave and I have lots of things I would like to do but nothing I really need to do. The bags are packed. Just waiting now. Anyone else?

40+3 here! It's baby #2, I went 10 days over with my first so hoping this one is more punctual. I've been incredibly uncomfortable for days now, SPD and just so much pressure down low... Head was only 2/5 palpable at my midwife visit yesterday so hopefully things will kick off soon. I've been having loads of very strong BH for weeks now, but nothing I'd call a real contraction.

The last time around I had no twinges or anything until my waters suddenly broke in the middle of the night. This time feels completely different, every time I stand up it feels like baby is just going to drop out onto the floor

AmyG87 You know things like spicy food is all just a myth right?! Don't put yourself through it if you don't even like spicy food!

Summer my baby also turned between 34 & 36 weeks so definitely still time :)

I'm being induced on Monday 29th at 38 weeks, but still convinced that my body is going to give up before then, I'm 36+3 today. So bloody exhausted I haven't even got the energy to do any of the cleaning that the rest of you are doing! I'm sitting here in silence like a bloody zombie

37+5 here. DS was born at 38+4 so I'm going to be cross if I'm still pregnant next Wednesday

I'm 37+5 today so the waiting game is on! Hospital goes by scan dates which put me at 38+2 but I'm fairly certain of the conception date so sticking to my own schedule.
It's my first and as of last week she has been down low and engaged. Haven't felt any Braxton Hicks but do get the occasion period type twinge and some low back pain. I'm getting weekly massages to relieve any tension and help me relax. It has really helped manage the SPD pain and I want to be as comfortable as possible in my body when I go into labour.
Hoping she will arrive a bit early like I did myself but no pressure! :)

Hello ladies, I'm writing from a hospital bed - 38 weeks and admitted with a suspected pulmonary embolism on Tuesday 😩

My first baby arrived at 38+2 & i have secretly hoped that this little one would arrive a little early (and put me out of my endless Hyperemesis misery). It's not looking very likely AND the midwife told me yesterday that they baby has decided to turn back to back! Thank you child 😐

Let's do this ladies! We just have to grind out this last leg! Lots of love to you all

Joining you all - I'm now (Friday!) 41 weeks and had my second sweep yesterday. 2cm dilated and everything looked good, but just need to get things moving! Cel982 I know what you mean - when I stand it suddenly feels like the baby drops down!

First time, so constantly analysing things to see if the are a contraction!

Been up since 3am with lower back ache and lower abdominal cramps. Really hoping this is the start of things! Although slightly concerned at how painful I'm finding it already...

39+4 here and joining in on the waiting game! Due Date is 22/05.It will be nice to actually talk to others going through the same thing rather than winding up DH or others around me with 'OMG I think this is it' comments at every twinge

Booked in for a sweep when 40+3. Had lots of period type pains on and off and had BH since 34 weeks which are a lot more frequent. Also had loads of discharge but no show yet. Can't get comfortable in bed. My leg keeps going numb and I could cry with the pain. Spam88 I therefore totally sympathise wth you and hope this is the start of something for you (fingers well crossed ) Have also been having sharp shooting pain in cervix which literally make me feel like that whole area is going to break. I have no idea how dilated I am at all as no one has checked!

What are you ladies doing to speed up the process? This is my first baby so I reckon I'm definitely going to go over and have to be induced (positive thinking right there!!!!) but I might start on the raspberry leaf tea and castor oil....

PS SunshineAllTheWhile please let us know how you get on; really rooting for you and lots of love. Also had hyperemis too throughout the whole preg so would really like to see the back of it now.

Thanks sleepyjeanie! HG is just the worst... I wouldn't wish it on anyone So many strange things set it off; possibly the weirdest is seeing people's wedding photos?! Guaranteed to knock me sick! But we can't be pregnant forever (can we?!) so normality is due to resume soon(ish).

I'm so fed up of moaning about being pregnant now!

DH and I used to dtd a lot, it passed the time, kept him happy and who knows, maybe the prostaglandin helped me along. Less so with the second one.......

That's so weird about wedding photos setting you off **SunshineAllTheWhile!! For me it's been the smell of things or certain associations with smells that have set me off. I wouldn't wish HG on my worst enemy. Vile. On a more positive note, I hope you get discharged today.

I am having some really severe period pain cramping. I am sooo uncomfortable. But hopefully this means things are moving in the right direction.

Thanks Frizz and Jonsnow. If she turns then that's fine but Tbh i would quite happily have a planned c-sec as i would like to be sterilised at the same time. This is my 3rd baby, im 40 and the pregnancy has been really tough. Im so tired and in a lot of pain. I can't wait for it to be over!

Last day at work today!! does a little dance

37+2 today and not ready in the slightest.
Hoping to hold on for another 4 weeks at least

Water's went about half 6 this morning, midwife has been out to check me over. Cervix not doing very much at the moment apparently. Contractions are coming every 2-3 minutes though and I'm so fed up already 😩

Well shit. After thinking I had until next Monday to prepare, hospital has just called me after my 2nd lot of blood tests today & my liver enzyme & bike levels are rising so they want me in this Monday at 37 weeks to be induced 😳

Hiya! 39 weeks today First baby so not sure what to expect. Been getting regular BH and odd sensations down there. She's def engaged! Don't think she's coming any time soon though.... famous last words! I'm one of those ones still happy to be preggo and not wishing her along just yet. Wait till I'm overdue, then I'll be bitching and whining prob!

sleepy are you expecting someone to check how dilated you are then? All new to me, I didn't think anyone was gonna check me till im in labour.... should I be prepared? Sorry to hear you're in so much pain.
