The wait for labour

Anyone up for a support thread for those of us waiting to go into labour? I am 37 +2 today. My first baby was born at 39 + 6 but I was in prelabour from 38 + 6. I am on maternity leave and I have lots of things I would like to do but nothing I really need to do. The bags are packed. Just waiting now. Anyone else?

I'm very anxious about who will have my 2yo when I go into labour. No local family.

Oh I know, my single biggest concern about the whole birth fandango is getting DD sorted - getting my friend here in time, not leaving her upset (if I'm at the 'can't string a sentence together' stage by the time we leave for the hospital), etc. Was much easier the first time around when we had no one to worry about but ourselves!

My mother assumes she's coming to look after #1 but she's third on my list of people to call. I don't want to piss her off in case we need her which is why she has already left two huge bags of her clothes in my spare room and I am just nodding and smiling.

Maybe when the time comes your calls to her phone just weren't connecting so you had to call someone else in??

Just put the pram together! I don't know if it's bad luck still but it's a travel system so we needed to have it here for the car seat

My whole family is in the states and my mom and sister want to know immediately when I go into labour. I haven't decided if I'm going to tell anyone... DP thinks we should keep it to ourselves so as not to get distracting texts/calls... His mom wants to know too! Lol

39+3 today... Have started to have a really bad back ache last night. Took some paracetamol so I could sleep. I'm wondering if it's the start of things (FTM) as the midwife said baby was slightly back to back (thinks it's perhaps rotated on its side a bit). Been having loads of Braxton Hicks and period pains for weeks but no proper contractions yet... We are ready to meet this baby.

Still here and pregnant! 40+4.
Bounced on my ball last night and got our my breast pump to stimulate nipples.
I have been having contractions all night,nothing regular enough though!
I have resorted to trying sex this morning, it better work!

gigi my family all live in Canada and my mom also wants to know asap when I go into labour, I told her thats pointless as she will just sit by the phone for hours/not sleep. We will call people when baby arrives.

After something of a marathon labour, our baby girl was born at 4:17pm yesterday. She's amazing 😍

So wish I'd just had an epidural earlier though, that stuff is magic.

cel I understand, I'm very private person I think we might do the same. My family live in Spain so I could let them know but don't think they gonna come over till baby's been here for a few days. Don't really wNt DH family and our friends down the road knowing and texting every 5 mins though.

Aww yay the first one born on this thread! Congratulations! Now will it be me or Gigi next 🙈 hopefully mine doesn't take all week once I'm induced!

Aw, great news spam, congratulations!

Still waiting here (40+6), have been having sporadic cramps today and (TMI ) slight diarrhoea so hopefully that's a good sign. We didn't find out the sex of our baby and I'm dying to know at this stage, as well as just being very ready to not be pregnant any more!

Ooh cel didn't realise you were overdue aswell, think I was trying to skim read the middle of the thread at the hospital the other day.

Can we count my due date as tomorrow? It's meant to be 12th June but obviously I know they're taking me in tomorrow, just depends how successful the induction is seeing as it's a little early!

I basically am @JonSnowsWhore! I've had two successful sweeps and everything looks good but baby is staying put. I've tried pretty much everything I think, so the race is now on to Wednesday's induction.

Hi everyone I'm 32weeks today and it's my first child I've had what I think has been a brilliant pregnancy no sickness no pain etc but all of a sudden my ribs on one side feel like they've broke I'm in constant pain and have trouble breathing is this normal ?
