The wait for labour

Anyone up for a support thread for those of us waiting to go into labour? I am 37 +2 today. My first baby was born at 39 + 6 but I was in prelabour from 38 + 6. I am on maternity leave and I have lots of things I would like to do but nothing I really need to do. The bags are packed. Just waiting now. Anyone else?

Been at the hospital for 11 hours now but still waiting for the induction to start Sad. They've been so busy. I'm shattered and know sleep is off the cards tonight.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 03/06/2017 04:38

I'm in labour, at fucking last.

giddyasakipper · 03/06/2017 06:06

Good luck peace! I was having contractions for about 6 hours yesterday but they seem to have disappeared overnight - I'm really hoping they pick up again and turn into something soon as I'm exhausted!

gigi556 · 03/06/2017 06:56

Good luck peace!

Hope everything gets going again giddy. The false alarms are so annoying!!!!

I lost a huge blob of my plug this morning following yesterday's sweep so I'm hoping I have my baby in my arms soon...

giddyasakipper · 03/06/2017 07:25

Fingers crossed we have some babies this weekend!!!

teenybean · 03/06/2017 08:08

Good luck peace & giddy

notasillysausage · 03/06/2017 08:10

Good luck Peace and I hope things get going for you again giddy.

Thanks for the link gigi it's really interesting to see the percentages and how likely I am to have this baby in the next week.

I've had a bit of an eventful night, sorry if this is tmi but I was sick yesterday and there was a lot of blood in it and I generally felt quite woozy. I rang the hospital but they just said to keep an eye on it Hmm

So I went to bed and was having contractions from about 2.30 to 6.30 but no regular pattern to them, I also had another show but no blood in it still. The contractions have stopped now but the baby has been a little quiet. I have felt some movements but not enough to reassure me given yesterday's events so I am going in for monitoring at 11am. I do worry I'm wasting their time a bit as I have felt some movements but after the last 12-24 hours I just feel I should get the baby checked out.

giddyasakipper · 03/06/2017 08:39

Hope it all goes well for you today sausage!

gigi556 · 03/06/2017 09:32

notasilly, its better to be safe and reassured. Definitely not wasting anyone's time!

I'm booked in for monitoring on Tuesday if this baby doesn't come by then... I'm hoping it doesn't come to that. Going to get out in the sunshine and distract myself from thinking about when this baby might turn up.

Applesandpears23 · 03/06/2017 11:20

So exciting to hear everyone''s news. Hopefully some new babies today/tomorrow.

I have fallen into a pattern of contracting in the afternoon but nothing at night or in the morning.

Baby ItsNice arrived this morning. It's all been a bit of a shitter to be honest. Broke my waters at midnight after hanging around since 11am, agonising contractions within 10 mins. Managed for an hour then asked for an epidural which didn't work initially Sad. Then had a few hours of painlessness before being fully dilated at 5am, pushing for an hour but baby was wrong way and the epidural wore off. Finally delivered by forceps at just after 7am.

He is 10lb Shock. Very beautiful though.

Good luck to everyone else! Hopefully more babies soon Smile

faithinme · 03/06/2017 13:49

@ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual congratulations! Wow that's a big bubba! So happy for you x

Applesandpears23 · 03/06/2017 14:04

Congratulations! Sorry the delivery was shit. Are you going to get out today?

I don't think so unfortunately. They're being a bit of a pain about leaving my catheter in, and also I need to wait for baby's blood type. I'm quite nervous about being in overnight without dh, I'm so tired at this point that I just can't imagine coping.

notasillysausage · 03/06/2017 15:11

Congratulations its nice , I hope you get home soon. I had forceps with my first and it's no picnic, but it will soon be a distant memory. Take care of yourself!

I got back from monitoring earlier, they were happy with the baby's trace which is great and baby has been moving a bit more. The mw gave me a really vigorous sweep so a bit sore now, things have moved on a little but still not completely favourable.

They offered to bring my induction date forward to Tuesday if I wanted because of the reduced movements but I would rather avoid it due to previous labour being induced and awful. So I am sticking with Thursday unless any more concerns over baby's movements.

The mw did say I'm having niggles/ v mild contractions on the monitor but I'm not feeling anything since last night. Fingers crossed tonight brings the baby!!

peaceloveandbiscuits · 03/06/2017 15:26

LadyTennantofTardis · 03/06/2017 17:43

I'm 36+5 had terrible SPD for last few months and now in bed recovering from awful food poisoning. Grumpy!

LadyTennantofTardis · 03/06/2017 17:45

Also have to go for scan as they think baby is breech, so so much for my planned waterbirth. V grumpy

notasillysausage · 04/06/2017 08:31

Congratulations peace!!

Anymore baby news? Did everyone sleep well?

tiba · 04/06/2017 09:37

39+4
No sign of baby yet.

That's after spicy curry and busy day gardening too.

Around 4 hours sleep which is as good as it gets for me now Sad

tiba · 04/06/2017 09:38

Congratulations Peace and Itsnice! X

faithinme · 04/06/2017 10:30

Congratulations @peaceloveandbiscuits ! Flowers
Nothing for me yet getting fed up of this big body. Went on a long dog walk last night and ended up scrubbing the kitchen floor and cupboard doors at about 1am - DH had to rescue me as I couldn't get up haha

notasillysausage · 04/06/2017 11:03

No signs for me yet either. I'm 10 days overdue but not really done much walking, I'm really sore walking now and it seems to take me forever! I'm going for a walk this afternoon, although don't know what length I will manage.

I bet that was a shock for your DH at 1am! It's horrible getting stuck, I got stuck in the bath the other week and DH had to help. Oh the glamour of pregnancy Grin
