The wait for labour

Anyone up for a support thread for those of us waiting to go into labour? I am 37 +2 today. My first baby was born at 39 + 6 but I was in prelabour from 38 + 6. I am on maternity leave and I have lots of things I would like to do but nothing I really need to do. The bags are packed. Just waiting now. Anyone else?

Had attempted sweep, cervix not open so couldn't do it properly, though she did say cervix is soft.
So irritable today - everyone has spent the last few months saying what a big baby and he will def be early, that now I am so annoyed. I don't do patience at the best of times. Had so many people calling and texting, I know they mean well and just care, but I seriously wish I could just switch off my phone! (I daren't because then people will be popping round!)

Mrspage1985, I had the same comments re the big baby and coming early it's so frustrating! I also get asked if it's twins frequently, it is so rude

I can't take another week of heartburn and worry. I just want to be back at home safe with my baby.

Congrats @sunshine ... great news. Still pregnant here at 38 + 1... although have only just realised that some of the "painful movements" I've been having are actually Braxton hicks! I'm such an idiot for not realising before but think it's because I've been busy in work and now on mat leave. Loads of them, belly getting really hard but not very painful, no show or anything either yet... the wait continues

notasillysausage, good luck with sweep today! I had some acupuncture yesterday which seemed to stimulate more BH. Will have more tomorrow if baby still hasn't arrived... I'm booked in for a sweep on Friday if we still don't get any action!

It's DPs birthday today and he's got the day off so thinking a day out of lots of walking may help too!

Thanks gigi, just got back from the midwife and she managed to do the sweep but it didn't sound very favourable and baby is slightly back to back 😒

I hope all your efforts come to something today, it sounds hopeful if the BH have ramped up.

I've been booked for another sweep on my birthday (lovely!) and then an induction next Thursday if nothing happens. It just seems so far away!

I had grumbly pain and pink discharge all yesterday, which ramped up in the evening, so I trotted off to bed at 9:30 knowing I'd need to rest. As soon as I fell asleep, all the pain stopped.
Got a few niggles when I got up this morning, went for a walk with my friend and our boys, and realised I'd lost my plug when I got home! My goodness, that shit is thoroughly disgusting. I didn't lose it myself last time as it all came away with the sweep. Now having some bad pain, so, again, fingers crossed something happens!!

@peaceloveandbiscuits hope this means you will be delivering soon

I'm preparing by watching Bad Moms!

I had loads of BH last night and found it hard to sleep. Plus cramps which felt like baby making it's way lower into the pelvis. Had GP appt today for 38 weeks and he said babies head is quite low down.

Lots more BH today and cramps, so thinking baby might in the next week or so, maybe sooner. Very excited bit also shattered.

Fingers crossed for everyone else. @peace sounds pretty promising to me...

Good luck peace! I'm feeling really frustrated today- really hot and can't get comfortable. My pushchair was supposed to be delivered today and I've been trying to contact Mamas and Papas all day on the phone with no answer!! Absolutely appalling customer service which is making me feel all stabby as their lines are now closed! End of rant!

@giddyasakipper that's really annoying, feel your pain.
I had a rant at Mothercare as the changing table they delivered took 3 of us 2 hrs to put together and then it was really wobbly even though we'd followed all instructions!!

Seriously we've put together an entire house full of ikea furniture but Mothercare changing table defeated us... it's going back. Bought a 2nd hand ikea one off eBay for 1/3rd of the price!

I went to Ikea this morning to get drawers for our 3 year old's room. Realised an hour ago that I'd forgotten to pick up one of the pieces so now I have to go again tomorrow. Grrrrr

Having a lot of movement this afternoon and sharp punches feeling very low - wonder if this means she's dropping lower?

Haven't caught up yet but Baby Badger arrived 12.32 on 29th

40+10 here today. Got another sweep booked for tomorrow, induction on Friday. Bah!

Thanks for all the well wishes! Been having regular contractions and more loss all afternoon. Hoping something happens tonight or tomorrow morning.

Been on a long walk with the dog and DH this evening - got home and had a loong string of goo but was thin ( I know tmi) hoping this is a sign of things to come x
