The wait for labour

Anyone up for a support thread for those of us waiting to go into labour? I am 37 +2 today. My first baby was born at 39 + 6 but I was in prelabour from 38 + 6. I am on maternity leave and I have lots of things I would like to do but nothing I really need to do. The bags are packed. Just waiting now. Anyone else?

Another one waiting here!
Due 9th June.
3rd baby.
1st born 38+6 weeks
2nd 41 weeks
I'm awful at waiting!!
Also worried about her just slipping out Wink

peaceloveandbiscuits · 29/05/2017 19:53

Bah. Even by my "I know when I had sex" dates, I'm now later than I was with DS Angry 39+2 by hospital dates and 38+5 by my dates.

M2R2 · 29/05/2017 20:19

Peace its weird how they calculate it by their calculation I conceived before my last period 😒

peaceloveandbiscuits · 29/05/2017 20:22

Mmm I conceived this baby on the last day of my period, eight days before I had sex.

Frizziee · 29/05/2017 20:58

Me today:

Yuk I feel nauseous
Ooh I wonder if it is a change in hormones and labour is on its way?! Yay!
Do I feel nauseous?
Did I ever feel nauseous?

Repeat for back pain and every other possible labour symptom.

MissMooMoo · 29/05/2017 21:06

Thanks all! @teenybean we are OK now.
Baby was very poorly straight after the birth, apgar of only 4, and was taken away before I even got to see him but it already feels a lifetime ago now that he and I are home.

CaipirinhasAllRound · 29/05/2017 21:23

I had IVF with both babies and so the date is accurate yet the midwives still changed it!

peaceloveandbiscuits · 29/05/2017 21:45

Caip that's hilarious! I thought with IVF there was one possible date!

faithinme · 29/05/2017 21:48

Can I join? First baby due on 1st June and already suffer with anxiety which midwife has told me will slow things down if I am uptight and panicking so trying to keep calm!
Not sure what to expect really though but praying I don't go overdue and need inducing I've heard it's not nice!
Due a sweep on my due date - does it hurt?

peaceloveandbiscuits · 29/05/2017 22:00

Having someone's hand up your fanny isn't ever going to be pleasant, but it's more uncomfortable than painful - unless you're not at all ready, then I imagine it could be quite sore.

I'm having one tomorrow, so I'll let you know! When I had one with DS I was already 2cm dilated so it wasn't really painful at all.

faithinme · 29/05/2017 22:06

Thanks peacelove I will keep a watch out on here for your update!
What's the best way to use my birthing ball? So far I'm just bouncing up and down on it which is comfy Grin

peaceloveandbiscuits · 29/05/2017 22:25

Don't know, I didn't need it last time and haven't got one this time.

Applesandpears23 · 29/05/2017 22:28

Rock back and forth, left and right and circle your hips. In labour you will probably want to keep moving rather than sit still or bounce up and down.

We have another one! Mini Sunshine born yesterday at 16.40, 8lb 3oz of complete squidge.

Another convoluted & slightly horrific labour story for the memoirs and we're stuck here for another 2 days being treated for sepsis.

Mini sunshine is the only one on the bay who isn't crying on a regular so keep torturing myself thinking about all the sleep I'd be getting at home 😂

How is everyone else doing? Flowers

gigi556 · 30/05/2017 11:22

Congratulations sunshine!

Still pregnant here 😩😩😩 (40+5).

Body giving all the right signals but just not gone into labour. Lost a bit of plug on Sunday. Have had some prelabour contractions in the night and lots of BH day and night. See the midwife this afternoon and getting some more acupuncture today as well. Cannot wait to meet this baby!

notasillysausage · 30/05/2017 11:23

Congratulations Sunshine, I hope you and mini are on the mend and home soon. Did you have a boy or girl?

I thought the baby maybe on the way last night, was getting a few cramps but they came to nothing. Getting fed up now and a bit bored of the wait!

Applesandpears23 · 30/05/2017 11:24

Congratulations Sunshine! Sorry you had a difficult birth.

Gigi, I'm 40+5 too and have the midwife tomorrow for a sweep 😩 The days are certainly dragging now, fingers crossed these babies arrive soon!

peaceloveandbiscuits · 30/05/2017 12:07

Hope you're recovering well sunshine.

Sweep this morning was painless, just very uncomfortable. Glad my memory served me well. Got a score of 3 but think she was being mean. Contracting like mad and had some blood, so fingers crossed.

teenybean · 30/05/2017 12:45

Glad everyone is doing well with their new babies Smile
We're 37 weeks today, so baby can now come whenever he/she feels like it! Smile
I'm spending the day going through all of the baby clothes from my last two, getting very very sentimental & a little weepy at how my babies were so small, but have grown into such amazing, beautiful children!
Hope everyone else is doing well & more babies gorgeous babies come along soon for everyone

faithinme · 30/05/2017 13:29

Hope to see some more beautiful babies on here being born soon!
I have everything ready at home and very fed up of being on mat leave now with no other children to look after I just can't wait for her to arrive Grin

mrspage1985 · 30/05/2017 13:50

Got my sweep today - fingers crossed it sets things off 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Congratulations on the new babies that have joined xx

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 30/05/2017 14:52

Congrats sunshine! Although sorry about the sepsis, that sounds horrendous.

I'm 40+9 today. Have an induction booked for Friday so I've managed to change my mindset so I'm geared for that, and anything sooner is a bonus. I'd be going crazy otherwise Smile

Fingers crossed baby peace comes soon!

giddyasakipper · 30/05/2017 15:31

Congratulations sunshine and good luck to everyone with their sweeps! I have mine on Friday - I can't believe I'm actually looking forward to it!

LikeaSnowflake · 30/05/2017 17:46

Congratulations sunshine. Hope you both recover quickly and get home soon.

40+6 here. No baby, no signs. My DD was born at this point and I really didn't think I'd still be here waiting for him.

Next midwife appointment on Thursday. Hopefully a more successful sweep will be given and he will come before induction on Sunday!
