Can ongoing brown discharge have a happy ending? :(

I'm scared.

Im 6-7 weeks pregnant according to my last period.

I had light brown mucus and stains last week.
Yesterday I had watery brown just once on the tissue when I wiped.
Today I've had mucusy dark brown stringy discharge nearly every time I wipe and the odd 5p Sized brown mark in pad.
I have back pain but it could be due to long day at work
I'm so upset and can't chill out

Can this have a happy ending. . ?

It depends on the EPC, my first I had straight away within a day, the next few times I had to wait a few days. Be prepared cause on one occasion they scanned me (I was 6 weeks) and they said they couldn't tell and I had to wait 2 weeks. I'm not saying this to make you feel worse, just so you're a little more prepared if they do say that.
Private can be quicker but it depends as they not work weekends either.
Try and phone EPC today as they may at least book you in for Monday.
Tell work you're not well and go home if possible although if your job isn't physical then you may prefer the distraction.
This is a awful time as you just have to wait and there's nothing you can really do. X

I had brown mucus, pink & red from 5 weeks right up to 22 weeks. No cause ever found & im expecting my DDs arrival in 2 weeks Smile
Ring EPU today, mine was closed weekends but they booked appointments early morning for this kind of thing.
Good luck Flowers

Thank u all for giving me courage to phone. I think I'm just so scared of bad news . every one around me is pregnant at the moment. (Including my neighbour who just announced earlier today)...
Epu were kind and have booked me a scan AM tomorrow .
How does this work. My last period makes me nearly 7 weeks but I know I ovulated late and couldn't have conceived til after4th march.. That means foetus will be a lot less than they are expecting? Will they assume its stopped developing if I don't mention late ovulation? Will they even be able to see anything if I only conceived after march 4th? Would there be a heartbeat?

She asked if my symptoms had disappeared I said yes. My sore boobs vanished too . she sounded sad when I said that . . like . oohh.

Now Im sure I'm getting bad news and have to go myself. Uuurgh x

Yes, I had brown blood for weeks. I even had a big red bleed at 10 weeks and there was still a heartbeat.
Good luck hun xx

PTphonehome · 31/03/2017 17:06

I had a scan last Saturday as I said before. My symptoms had gone. They are back now though.
Keep positive.
I've booked a private scan for Wednesday for another check as still brown/pink when wiping sometimes and cramp's on and off.

Tattybogle89 · 31/03/2017 17:08

Thank you xx will there be a heartbeat at that stage? Will I need a vaginal scan? Xx

Brown can be okay as old blood. But I'm glad you're getting a scan.

Tell them you're unsure about dates and ask for hCG progression blood test. They need to take 2x at least 48h apart.

If you're 7 weeks then something should be visible. If you're 5 weeks, then possibly not, or just the sac, but bloods should be able to tell you if things are progressing.

Yes. This is him. Smile

BertieBotts · 31/03/2017 17:12

Yes it will be transvaginal. Heartbeat can be visible from 6 weeks but isn't always.

Tattybogle89 · 31/03/2017 18:15

Aw no. Had hoped it would be abdominal. That makes me very nervous. I'm not so good with vaginal things.do they cover you up during scan?

Lol chip monkey thank you x

You can ask for an abdo scan and if they can't see anything, they can then do a vaginal scan. However, be warned that if they can't find a heartbeat on the abdo scan you will be seriously stressed and upset usually, so it may just be best to go straight to a vaginal scan.

I asked that the sound was turned off for me until they could confirm whether or not there was a heartbeat - I was in EPU for suspected ectopic and it was confirmed through the vaginal scan. In the end I went straight with the vaginal scan as I was a worried mess and in a lot of pain, plus bleeding heavily.

I wish you well for tomorrow's scan.

MotherofA · 31/03/2017 18:36

Yes this could be nothing . X

Tattybogle89 · 31/03/2017 18:42

Sorry doodle Sad that sounds hard. What was your symptom's for ectopic if you don't mind me asking x

I freaked out about a vaginal scan, thinking it would be uncomfortable like a smear, but the probe is much smaller, I hardly felt it.

I hope everything works out for you.

Banderchang · 31/03/2017 18:43

I had what you're describing and had an abdominal scan at 6 weeks. They could see a heartbeat (single flashing pixel). He's 8 years old next week.

Mine turned out to be due to a sub chorionic haematoma, and I was told I had a 50:50 chance of miscarriage but it worked out ok in the end.

Fingers crossed for you - it's such a worrying time.

BertieBotts · 31/03/2017 18:47

Wear a skirt or take a blanket with you, they don't need you naked from the waist down, but they often do for convenience. Just ask if you're uncomfortable.

Tell them you're nervous. The scanner is smooth so it's much better than a speculum. They will put a condom on it and use lube, ask them to go slowly, and breathe. It is not too wide. Thinner than a penis! Good luck.

Tattybogle89 · 31/03/2017 18:53

Bertie I would Have thought they would have provided a sheet! ? I don't own a skirt and don't fancy rocking up with a blanket!?

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 31/03/2017 18:58

Sometimes - I have been offered one at one place but not another.

BertieBotts · 31/03/2017 18:59

You could wear a cardigan or hoodie and use that?

Tattybogle89 · 31/03/2017 19:03

She did tell me on the phone to make sure I had a full bladder.. Is this typical with internal scan? I remember being told this with my tummy scans? I'm not overweight or anything don't know if that makes a difference on abdo scan ?

OP posts:
Tattybogle89 · 31/03/2017 19:03

Def carrying a cardi in..

OP posts:
isambardo · 31/03/2017 19:12

Yes, I think a full bladder is standard. The dildo cam is a bit undignified but it's very slim and worth it to get answers. It was just me, dh and the practitioner in the room and I think they gave me a sheet or towel. I had brown bleeding plus some big red bleeds too but all was fine, Ds is now 2.

All the best for tomorrow.

TickleMcTickleFace · 31/03/2017 19:13

I had this at 7 weeks, then at 10 weeks and it carried on until I was 22 weeks - the reason for all the drama is currently charging round with a tube from the wrapping paper Confused I had an abdo scan at 7 weeks and they could see the heartbeat flickering away so you might not need an internal scan. Flowers it's a scary time but fingers crossed all will be well Flowers

TheImprobableGirl · 31/03/2017 19:21

If you drink a pint of water about half an hour before your appointment then your bladder should be full enough. As pp have said Brown blood is better than fresh red blood. Do keep a log of symptoms- for what it's worth the sore boobs and needing to pee more came and went for me before the 12 week scan and the baby was fine .
Flowers for tomorrow, a transvaginal scan is a lot easier than it sounds- they have seen thousands of nether regions so don't feel embarrassed.
