After the inital shock of finding out I am pregnant again, I have started bleeding today. Phoned the emergancy gp and of course he said that it could be a miscarriage, so he tried to get me an appointment at the EPU but noone is there, so I have to phone my gp tomorrow.. I have a very slight pain on my right hand side, and the bleeding is light. I asked about ectopic pregnancy and he said I would be in serevre pain, which I am not.

just taken some more painkillers, hopefully I will be able to sleep tonight. The pain was so bad while I was in gyne waiting room, that I was crying. My dad had to get a nurse to help me. My mum held my hand while they took blood, bless them. They said that if I get a scan tomorrow to phone them and they will take me over as DH is really poorly atm.

Awww, SKG Good luck for tomorrow. I am glad you have something for the pain and hopefully it's an infection which can be cleared up and all will be well. Let us know after scan.

SparklyGothKat · 05/01/2007 01:18

Poor DH is so ill atm, he has this fluey blu going round and on top of that he is so worried about me. I can't drive atm, because of the pain and the codine, and he is having to do everything, he has told me that I am not to do a thing till we know exactly what is wrong. The pain has gone now thanks to the codine but god it does wipe you out a a bit. Never have I had a pain as bad as I had tonight...

SparklyGothKat · 05/01/2007 10:07

Woke up with no pain!!! It started a while later, so took more painkillers. I threw up this morning, so I hope that is a good sign. I felt better as soon as I threw up lol!! Still waiting for the phone call to say that I have a scan, knowing my luck I won;t get one.

Fingers crossed that you get the call to go for a scan.

Good luck. Glad you felt better after being sick!!! Obviously a good sign

UCM · 05/01/2007 11:12

I would phone up and remind em! They might conveniently forget if they are busy and haven't heard from you. Glad your pain is gone.

mrsmaddyd · 05/01/2007 11:15

Just to say good luck sgc. I really shocked at the service youve had, where i live they scan you immediatley. On both my miscarriages i was scanned same day as was bleeding and on last pregnancy was scanned when had pain just in case. i didnt go full term but do gratefully have a healthy happy baby.

All the best xxxxxx

VeniVidiVickiQV · 05/01/2007 13:36

you can get a private scan if you wish....

they cost approx £150 i think. You shouldnt have to do this, but, it will help put your mind at rest.

SparklyGothKat · 05/01/2007 13:54

can;t afford £150 atm otherwise I would.

AitchTwoOhOhSeven · 05/01/2007 14:03

as INFURIATING as that is, it is, strictly speaking, the protocol with eps (although at my hosp they scan earlier). they'll probably scan you earlier if they see anything in your bloods that is worrying them.

which brings us back to the hcg results... do you have yesterday's figure yet? and an appointment to go back tomorrow for more?

ScoobyDooooo · 05/01/2007 14:03

i think you can get a private scan cheaper than £150 i thought they were about 80-90 just for a basic scan, will have a look, is that still to much?

SparklyGothKat · 05/01/2007 14:04

Lister took my bloods and they are checking my hcg levels, I have to go back tomorrow for another test. Who do I phone for the results or should I just wait till tomorrow?

OP posts:
AitchTwoOhOhSeven · 05/01/2007 14:21

tbh i'd wait til tomorrow. one result doesn't really tell you much.
otoh, mind you, if it's over 1000 then it would put you in a stronger position to demand a scan as it's usually 6wks or hcg of 1000 that you can actually see somehting in the womb. but it does sound like they are being very strict about interpreting their hosp protocols...

it's such a pain, all this, but the fact that your yucky infection might be the cause of all this is really positive. hopefully the uncertainty will be over very soon.

SparklyGothKat · 05/01/2007 14:33

just phoned for my results and the snotty receptionist just said a doctor will phone you tonight..

im glad you r feeling better sparkly. i dont understand why they are doin this.

at the start of this pregnancy i had the same symptoms as you. light bleeding and pain. i went to the qe2 (the first of the 2 useless hospitals u went to) i was preped for theatre started nil by mouth etc and a drip put in to keep me hydrated and a man came to my bed side and scanned me in the a & e. they could see where sac was but not much in it so i was allowed home drip removed etc and i was then re booked to come in a weeks time. i was 5 weeks at the time.

it is thease inconsistencies witin the nhs that make me sick. depending on the day depends on he treatment you recieve.

lister are just as bad and for what it worth the only way i think your goin to get seen is if you go back to qe2 a & e dept. and insist they do something. masking the pain is not good enough you have a family to look after and they need to fix it. explain that even with these pain killers you can still feel stabbing pains and that you are worried if the feteus is viable are the tablets safe?? etc
i know its difficult and i hope you get the care you need.

if the dr insisted then they could fit you in for a scan anytime of day and that the gynae ward have mobile scanning units.

UCM · 05/01/2007 15:15

I know we all know about Ectopics on here. But I wonder if Corries latest storyline involving one has caused a surge in people needing scans or sommat??

I hope everything is ok SKG.

PinkElephant · 05/01/2007 15:30

God what a nightmare this is for you Sparkly!!! I hope they get things sorted for you. It looks like it all depends how good the hospital and your GP are, both of mine acted quickly and there was no messing around and I was not allowed home for 2days until they were convinced what was going on. P.S - watch your bowels on the codeine.

Aitch - apologies, yes I'm still grieving!!! I was merely trying to suggest Sparkly give a clear picture of what was happening for her. Pain is so subjective.
