Libertybelles - When all you want is no time and to be up on your feet and feeling useful once again hey! Thanks

Sunflower did you say you had to be induced previously? What's that like? I have been into triage twice (29 weeks and 39 weeks) for reduced fetal movement (prob cos my placenta is anterior and so in some positions I can't feel her as easily) and they've said because of this I have to have a consultant appointment to talk about being induced (I'm assuming they wouldn't let me go to 42 weeks?!) - from what I understand being induced is more painful?

Sunflower2016 · 24/01/2016 14:37

Libertybelles..
I've been induced with both previous pregnancies and they were both very different experiences ..
With my eldest - I was induced at 12 days over, I had the pessary in the morning and labour pretty much kicked off straight away, much to the midwifes disbelief - as my mum ( I was 18 at the time) had to practically force them to check me at 6pm and I was 8cms dilated and rushed to delivery room Smile I managed all that time on just paracetamol, and I do not have a high pain threshold! Lol .. Just after midnight my little girl was born and the only other pain relief I had was pethidine Smile .. Apparently first babies take longer with inducing but that was not the case for me - and I'm sure with many others too ..
My second experience wasn't so great ..
I was taken in on the 12th day - had the pessary .. But nothing happened .. Cut a long story short - numerous sweeps and pessaries over the next 3 days still nothing .. And then finally on the 4th afternoon they took me down to have my waters broke and put on the drip ( pitocin) .. I didn't like the drip .. It makes contractions come on very hard and fast and were painful .. I actually was advised to have an epidural - as I wasn't coping too well .. Which I did and that did give me a few hours relief until pushing - where they turned it down so I could feel it .. And then my little boy arrived on the 5th morning Smile ..
Now with the second experience please don't let that scare you in any way .. The hospital were way understaffed as it was a bank holiday and I do believe that i would have been taken down sooner if it hadn't been .. Plus my experience was not helped by numerous nights of no sleep, and not much food, as I just didn't want to be in hospital - let alone still be heavily pregnant, I missed home badly! So in some ways I prob didn't help myself Thanks
Everyone copes with pain differently and situations differently Smile x

Sunflower - thanks for the reply! Useful to know, it's so hard to plan these things when it's different every time and different for everyone! Hey ho! We'll see what happens. I hope we're all here in the next week saying our babies have been born!!

Sunflower2016 · 24/01/2016 14:41

40+1, also not impressed. Been running up and down the stairs, to no avail. DS was born at 40+1, and I was told this one would "definitely" be earlier Angry

I've never known anything so frustrating! I've been having a really low, hormonal day today and I think it's all the hoping and then having nothing happen. Fingers crossed for all of us CakeFlowers

Due after?? That's so unfair!!

Blerg · 24/01/2016 23:25

I hear you on the babies on FB! 4 so far all born and were due after me. One is using my fave name for girl. Is ok as is online friend but doesn't help!

I am 40+12 tomorrow (in 30 mins). Only fun part is being asked by strangers when I'm due and watching their mouths drop when I say 'oh, 11 days ago'.

LibertyBelles · 25/01/2016 00:04

I seem to have developed insomnia now which doesn't help! I'm knackered but quite zen about being overdue in the day but when I go to bed I get all worked up!!! Help

Jenjen86 · 25/01/2016 00:09

Oh Blerg you must be losing your mind!are you booked for an induction?

Libertybelles I totally sympathise! I usually get to sleep around 3 then my lovely bf has his alarm set for 6.30 which wakes me up til around 9 and then I maybe doze for another hour. I suspect if I could sleep I could relax enough to go into labour haha. Sadly not much advise other than I try to tell myself little stories (non related to babies etc) to steer my mind away from worrying. Good luck!

LibertyBelles · 25/01/2016 00:18

Thanks Jenjen - it's so annoying isn't it. I know I need to relax I just can't
