It's standard here to offer a sweep at the 40-week appointment. Just double checked in my notes, where there's a breakdown of what happens at each appointment, and by 40 weeks it clearly says "offer membrane sweep, complete Bishop Score."
So obviously it differs from trust to trust. Check your notes to see if you have a similar document?

mrsjskelton · 25/01/2016 14:15

Congratulations Bee! Tell us more!

My MW was happy at 2 days over to do the examination/sweep - she said it might be pointless (it was) but seemed to be happy to oblige. At the end of the day it takes 2 minutes Hmm

Thanks all, just had a look in my notes and 40w is "routine" where I am and the sweep is at 41w.

Feel more knowledgeable and empowered already [grins]

LibertyBelles · 25/01/2016 14:45

2manysweets yeah that's what my notes said! I find it super odd how much is varies!!

LibertyBelles · 25/01/2016 14:46

running she didn't do my bishops score but I tried to work it out online from the random symbols she wrote down and think I'm about a 2.....is rubbish Angry

mrsjskelton · 25/01/2016 16:52

What's the Bishop's score and how do I find it?

LibertyBelles · 25/01/2016 16:57

I just googled it - it's basically how likely you are to go into labour/how likely induction is to work. Based on things like position of cervix, baby's station etc perinatology.com/calculators/Bishop%20Score%20Calculator.htm

Runningupthathill82 · 25/01/2016 17:50

So I'm in labour! Will hopefully be checking out of Overdue Club very soon....

LibertyBelles · 25/01/2016 17:59

Jenjen86 · 26/01/2016 09:25

Day 5,482....still no baby.

Congratulations to those who have gone into labour / had their babies :) I am incredibly happy for you (and of course terribly jealous haha)

LibertyBelles · 26/01/2016 09:31

Jenjen I feel your pain, my due date buddy from nct went into labour yesterday and had her baby Angry

mrsjskelton · 26/01/2016 09:59

Midwife appointment today and I know she's going to book me in for an induction Envy how long can I put that off for? I want every chance of going into labour by myself!

OP posts:
LibertyBelles · 26/01/2016 10:15

mrsjskelton what week midwife appointment is it? My understanding is that you can ask to go to at least 42 weeks without induction

Runningupthathill82 · 26/01/2016 10:17

I have a newborn to snuggle! Quick and straightforward labour last night, DD born in the pool with just a bit of gas and air.
A million miles from my traumatic and lengthy first labour. Am so happy - hope your babies are all here very soon too.

Jenjen86 · 26/01/2016 10:19

Congratulations Running, so happy to hear such good news :)

mrsjskelton · 26/01/2016 14:10
