I'm due on Sunday and thought it'd be nice to see if anyone else is due soon?

How are you all feeling? This will be my second and we've been told it's a girl. If anyone's around and fancies a moan chat about this last stretch, step forward!!

I was reading about a woman last night who went for a sweep and was told she was 7cm! She went to hospital and got to 10 without any pain and then had her waters popped by midwife and had baby in 20 minutes! How is that even possible?!

LittleMiss77 · 13/07/2015 20:24

Really? Oh, if only....

Does anyone know the success rate of a membrane sweep or are there too many other factors involved?

coneywonder · 13/07/2015 21:03

I'm pretty sure it's 5% I'm gonna try and find out.

coneywonder · 13/07/2015 21:05

"The review found that overall the intervention is associated with a 24% increase in chance of delivering within 48 hours, a 46% increase in chance of delivering within a week and a 74% reduction in likelihood of going 2 weeks over dates"

coneywonder · 13/07/2015 21:05

Posted too soon twice then! I like those odds!!

DulcetMoans · 14/07/2015 05:31

Checking in, still pregnant. Hmm No plans for the day - not sure what more bouncing I can do to help!

LostSoulsForever · 14/07/2015 06:10

Checking in too. No movement here either. Due date is Thursday & am booked in for sweep at 40+5, although midwife seems confident I won't need it (I have no idea what she is basing theory on).
Hang on in there everyone, surely someone's baby has to decide to put in an appearance soon!

LittleMiss77 · 14/07/2015 07:31

Still pregnant here too. No twinges, no BH...

The nausea I had at 5 weeks appears to be making a come back and i'm really uncomfortable each time baby has a wriggle... there's not much space in there and it feels like he's trying to get out a la Alien, as opposed to via the normal route!

Sweep booked in for 230pm tomorrow and another appointment for sweep #2 is booked in for Monday should i need it - lets hope he makes an arrival by Friday!

coneywonder · 14/07/2015 07:57

Still with child here too.

Sweep booked for tomorrow. No plans. Bored out of my skull. Should make the most of being bored I suppose!

Ahardmanisgoodtofind · 14/07/2015 08:04

No new arrival here either.my sweep is tomorrow at 4 (3rd time lucky maybe)going to spend the day hunting down end of term teachers gift for ds,I don't remember it being a thing when I was little

laura825 · 14/07/2015 08:05

Also still pregnant here! I've got a sweep booked in for Thursday, I really would like her to arrive before then though.

I also don't have any plans today going to bounce eat pineapple and Google lots probably!!

clarabell4680 · 14/07/2015 09:42

Yep 40+6 and still here!!! Not having any sweeps but hope he comes soon! Surely there is no more room in there for him! My stomach can't be anymore stretched!!

coneywonder · 14/07/2015 09:44

Can I ask why your not having a sweep clara? I didn't want one on my due date and I'm still debating whether to have one tomorrow. Be interested to know your views on it.

Anyone else wanting to hibernate?

clarabell4680 · 14/07/2015 13:53

I just have read a lot up on it and I don't really see the point in it, considering the odds of it working are so slow. I want as little intervention as possible when baby is happy in there at the moment, so I think he will be ready when he is ready (hopefully) So many of my friends have has zero success with them and ended up having niggly contraction pains for days but then nothing happens... I would rather let nature take it's course and hope it doesn't come to an induction!
Looks like most FTM's are about 9 - 14 days late so I have a few days yet to hope he comes naturally!
Each to their own though... do whatever works for you. Trust your instincts!

coneywonder · 14/07/2015 15:32

This was my attitude up until a few days ago. I feel like I don't want to give myself false hope. I think I'll sleep on it and decide in the morning. I refused my one last week and I honestly think the only reason I want one tomorrow is so I'm less likely to need any other intervention. Wah I dunnoo

LittleMiss77 · 14/07/2015 15:43

Talk it through at your appointment Coney. My midwife is excellent and gives both sides of the story - the pros and the cons as well as what she would do if it was her. There is no pressure and she respects the decisions that i make.

I'll be having the sweep tomorrow as im (wrongly?) hoping that it'll work and I wont need to be induced.

I've been so 'what will be, will be' in relation to my pregnancy and havent even thought about a birthing plan. However, I went for a tour of our MLU and after seeing how lovely it is, i'll be gutted if i cant give birth there (all inductions are managed on labour ward)

clarabell4680 · 14/07/2015 15:53

Exactly...it's your decision entirely, don't be swayed by hour midwife. I just don't think there is enough proof (for me) that they actually do anything and I worry about the other implications they could have too. So leaving as is for now!
I'm the same littlemiss...my MLU is amazing and newly refurbished too so I would be gutted not to be able to give birth there...we just have to hope we're not induced!! I read that only 23% of first time mums are induced...that give me hope!

coneywonder · 14/07/2015 16:15

My midwife is useless but I'm seeing a different one tomorrow so I'll chat to her and ill also ask her if she thinks baby is back to back after my normal one flippently mentioned it to me last week.

I have done research about the sweeps and other intervention and I'm worried about it hurting but I really need to get over that.

My MLU is where I plan on having baby also! Fingers crossed we all get to use them because they are so much nicer aren't they?!

LittleMiss77 · 14/07/2015 16:40

mine is only a year or so old - 5 rooms, pools in 4, beanbags, balls, fancy lighting, TV, DVD, couches... one room has a pull down double bed for everyone to snuggle up in.

My only complaint was that the rooms were really bloody hot and most had no windows (brought some cooling spray to try combat that!)

clarabell4680 · 14/07/2015 17:06

Oh I am glad you are seeing a different one tomorrow Coney, nothing worse than a useless unhelpful midwife! Let us know how you get on! I hope they aren't back to back, fingers crossed! People have said sweeps just feel like a smear really, so hopefully it won't be too bad if you have one.

Littlemiss, sounds like my MLU too, whereabouts are you?? Mine has a great birthing pool room with mood lighting, this is where I would love to give birth but again, all dependent if I have to be induced. I am willing him to come before the 14 days over!!

LittleMiss77 · 14/07/2015 17:16

Clara I'm in Coventry....

I was surprised at how small the centre was given that its where they push all low risk births. I asked when we went round about where id go if it was full and the midwife laughed and went 'dont worry about that, its unlikely we'll be full'
