Hi Lesley, Hugs to you.
I have been away for a while, struggling with well-meaning mother and painful haemorroids I am afraid. Did such a good job of pushing dd out quickly that I traumatised 'other areas', hours of breastfeeding a hungry baby has not helped!!!
Don't get too depressed, I promise you that it will all be made up for when you dear little one arrives. All the best - you are nearly there !!!
I have missed loads on this thread recently, did I start something with the carrot cake?
I am working on this typing and breastfeeding thing - not very successfully at present....

Cogratulations to hewlettsdaughter, dolbear, Fennel, emmagee, Metrobaby and peppergirl and all your babies

spots · 27/04/2004 19:03

Lesley, May is apparently the best time to have a lucky baby. Your baby might have read this in the newspaper and be holding off for a little bit on purpose. But don't fret, Prufrock who was being c-sectioned today was always technically an april mum... we're not lapping you yet. When was your given date by the way? Is this your first? I'm getting a bit slack on the division between april and may anyway and just popping in like Egypt to say May is Nice! and hello. Come visit us any time, we will treat you with the respect due to an April threader.

motherinferior · 27/04/2004 19:08

Lesley, so many people are hanging on with you - you are NOT alone!

Hugs.

Just want to say hi Lesley and hope today has been ok, have been thinking of you and keep lurking to see how you are. Take care, it will all happen soon (fingers crossed for asap)

Fennel · 28/04/2004 08:56

hi Lesley

Good luck with the sweep today. apparently it ups your chances of spontaneous labour in the next day or two from 60% (if you're 10 days over now) to 85%!

SpringChicken · 28/04/2004 14:04

Ooooooohhhh........Can i maybe sense some action from Lesley ?!?!?

I do hope so - if you are in labour Lesley.............push.....push.....push

beansprout · 28/04/2004 14:05

Lesley, go girl!! All we need are some pom poms and we could form a cheerleader troupe - am happy to actually do this if you think it would help?!

Lesley76 · 28/04/2004 14:43

Hi everyone! I?m so touched & encouraged by all your kind messages of support! Especially since I know how busy you new mums are and how little spare time you have.

Had appointment at the hospital today. They did a scan to measure the amniotic fluid and monitored the baby to check movement and all was fine, so I wasn?t put under pressure to be induced yet (despite my advanced age!!!) However they do want to induce me on Monday night if I?ve not gone into spontaneous labour by then

I also had a sweep, which was unpleasant & uncomfortable but not really painful. Like someone pressing up inside you very hard. Doctor was extremely nice - kept asking if I was OK and offered several time to stop if it was too sore. I know this doesn?t relieve the pain but it does make you feel like you have some control and they realise you are a person and not a lump of meat on the bed.

Apparently I?m already 2cm dilated ? they seemed to think this was good news but I don?t want to read too much into it. As I recall, some of you were 2-3 cm for weeks and nothing happened ? is that right? Or am I being a pessimist as usual?? I really don?t know what to think?????.

Apart from this I?m feeling quite well ? ungainly and tired of course but I guess that?s normal. DH is back to his wonderful supportive self after being very stressed out earlier in the week and moaning about the state of the kitchen floor & other crucial matters. You would think I was planning to give birth on it

Am still following the April Mums thread and reading of all your BF issues. Hope its getting better and bleeding bits are healing up. I?m so impressed that you are all keeping going even when its so painful???.bravery awards all round!

MrsDoolittle · 28/04/2004 16:37

Hi Lesley, On the breast feeding issue, as I said frequently at the time "only because she is so gorgeous!" Thankfully though we are getting into the swing of things now - I threw out the breast shields this morning.
As for the house, it's still a mess and now I don't have the fact I can't bend as an excuse. Suddenly it doesn't seem to matter so much now. Dh observed today that all I cared out about was myself and baby, as for the rest they could all be on another planet - I guess there is some truth to this.
Just think this time next week you will be a Mum and it does go someway towards making you feel a little better. If you are like me you will love the releif you will feel after the sheer weight on your front has gone
Anyway, we are all thinking of you - after all you the only reason we are checking out this thread!!

dot1 · 28/04/2004 19:47

Hi Lesley - just saying hello and hoping for good news very soon..!

poor old ds is now constipated - we think due to giving him 1 bottle of formula (BAD mummies...) sigh. So it's back to a breastfeed at 10.30pm and a possible change of formula. I can't quite believe just one bottle could bung him up, but he's definitely not reacted well to it, poor thing... Meanwhile I've got one breast that's very sore - possibly got an infection? So am going to ask at baby clinic tomorrow - although I'm not sure to be honest if health visitors look after Mums as well as babies...

Anyway, Lesley you've got all this come - very very soon!!

Lesley76 · 29/04/2004 06:36

Oh Dot and Mrs D - sorry to hear about your sore bits..........but your babies sound gorgeous. Shame we cant have pictures

HD are you hanging on in there??

I am STILL here - nearly 24 hours after the sweep and NOTHING. No bleeding, not one cramp or even a little braxton hicks. If DH wasn't there when the dr told me i was " ripe" and 2cm dilated, i would think i imagined it. Mrs D - weren't you several cm dilated for WEEKS??? HELP??? Why is this baby not coming out??? i don't want to be induced on Monday!!!!

Lesley76 · 29/04/2004 06:37

OOPs sorry wrong emoticons.........

Lesley76 · 29/04/2004 06:39

Does one bottle of formula REALLY upset babies that much??? Oh dear, i thought this was just propaganda put out by the BF police........shows you how much i know... Is he Ok today Dot??

hewlettsdaughter · 29/04/2004 09:14

Hi Lesley, I have been checking this thread for news from you although not posting much - still having breastfeeding problems, going to a clinic today to try and sort them out (haven't fed without nipple shields since Sunday so pretty scared!).
Good luck at your clinic dot. Take care Lesley.

Lesley76 · 29/04/2004 10:59

I CANT BELIEVE IT!!!! I have a show! After only about a year and a half of being pregnant!!! So what does this mean in terms of timescale - will i go into labour in hours or days???? If the answer is weeks please don't tell me.................

beansprout · 29/04/2004 11:01

I don't know as I am new to this game but will say this: YEEEAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

Toothache · 29/04/2004 11:17

Go Lesley Go Lesley Go Lesley!!

At last! I was 1-2cm dilated with ds for a few days before the show. About 5 hrs after the show my waters started to trickle..... 12 hrs after that DS was screaming in the arms of a rather emotion DH.

Keep walking around.... if you have a birthing ball, get bouncing on it! Get some food down you and keep your energy up... coz tonight you might just need every calorie!

Lesley76 · 29/04/2004 11:33

So am I Ok to take 4yo to hairdressers now, then nursery, then go to Safeway for the shopping?
I mean, something might happen this afternoon?

Was going to go to the health food shop for raspberry leaf tea tablets but might give that a miss....

Egypt · 29/04/2004 12:14

OOO lesley well done!!!! Good luck. Stick a super dooper sanitary pad on and get walking around Safeway!!!!! (take some spares and a towel too!) You'll not be long Comeon you can beat that May thread

mears · 29/04/2004 12:20

Good luck Lesley - hopefully things will happen today but it could be a day or two...

Dot1 - rather than formula have you tried feeding on one side only? Breastfeed on one breast till he comes offon his own, wind him and then put him back on that side. He will egt more hind milk and is more likely to settle for longer. You could express the other side and give him that in a bottle instead.

Sorry to but in but coudn't resist

motherinferior · 29/04/2004 12:21

The hairdresser DEFINITELY - as you know, it worked for me.

LesLEY, LesLEY...

SpringChicken · 29/04/2004 15:40

Turtle35 · 29/04/2004 16:05
