Welcome back Piglit, do you feel re-charged? I am soooo looking forward to my holidays. did you actually wear a bikini whilst away?

Poor Bibi - must of scared the bujeesus out of you!

Love the weather but fear it's a little to stuffy for me, went out for a walk at lunch time and could hardly catch my breath (have trouble doing that at the best of times)

have my scan tomorrow and I am so excited I could wee myself - what's new there.

Toots · 12/06/2004 16:32

Sorry about your knees Bibioo. Yes feeling pretty content today. Welcome home brown Piglit.

Turtle, how was your scan? Mine was fine. Lovely even. Baby playing with legs. DD was really good, too, which was nice.

piglit · 12/06/2004 17:25

I'm afraid I did wear a bikini on holiday. I caught sight of myself in the mirror and looked more like a beached whale than a pg laydee but I thought it was all in a good cause - my bump looks so much nicer now that it's brown!! I know, such vanity - besides the only people who will see it are me and dh! I just hoped that people thought I was pg and not just a fat lardarse in her bikini....

Glad to hear your scan went well Toots. Enjoy your scan tomorrow Turtle - it all goes so quickly!

By the way, is anyone planning to watch that thing on C4 on Wednesday called Born too Soon? It's about preemie babies and one of them is only 25 weeks (just 2 weeks more than me) when it's born. I don't usually watch anything like this now that I'm pg but I really want to watch it. Am I mad?

BIBIBOO · 12/06/2004 17:31

Thanks for the concern gals, but I can't milk it any more - grazes on knees are cleaned up, bruising has come out and it isn't half as dramatic looking as it was when there was blood seeping through my nice linen trousers and dirt and grass stains all over the rest of me! Funny though, how I instantly reverted into little girl mode and just wanted to cry my heart out because I'd fallen over

Good luck tomorrow Turtle - how exciting! Hope it all goes well and you get a lovely set of pics of baby. Make sure the sonographer lets you have a good look and doesn't hog the screen! Who's going with you?

BIBIBOO · 12/06/2004 17:36

Piglit, you're not mad, yo're a normal, curious pg lady (she said, trying to convince herself of the same!)I wan to watch Born Too Soon as well, but after the state ER left me in, I might record it and watch it when my mood seems especially stable. V interesting sounding isn't it? And it could be positive, showing how preemie babies can survive against the odds...

piglit · 12/06/2004 17:47

That's what I thought Bibiboo. I usually avoid tv hospital dramas about babies or pg women for obvious reasons but I thought this might be more of a documentary with "real" medical information.

BIBIBOO · 12/06/2004 17:53

I still watch Holby and there's usually a pg lady/new baby crisis every week, I think although it makes me all weepy, it gets rid of my build up of hormones for that day and I feel better afterwards. On the other hand, maybe I just like crying...

florenceuk · 12/06/2004 23:35

Hi everyone

Had my scan today - lovely neighbour babysat DS which was great, as they were running about 1 hr late and the waiting room was stinking hot - unbearable. Everything is fine, and baby 2 will be a DD! To be honest, I didn't really mind which gender, but now I have an excuse to do lots of shopping for new baby clothes!! Suffering terribly from hayfever which is horrible.

Piglit, I can't imagine wanting to bare my bump now - you are very brave. I gave up forever on bikinis after taking a good look at the crepey tummy and stretch marks caused by DS...

piglit · 13/06/2004 12:06

Glad to hear it went so well Florence and congrats on your dd!

I hope everyone is well today. Can anyone think of an excuse not to be at work today? Is there an EU ruling about pg laydeez not getting too hot?? My office is really hot and I'd rather be at home....

BIBIBOO · 13/06/2004 12:37

Our office doesn't have A/C, just tonnes of fans whirring away like mad - surely there is a law about us lot not getting too hot, is very bad for us - any law expert type people out there?

Congrates on DD Florence - how lovely. Get thee to the pink aisles!

Turtle35 · 13/06/2004 13:46

Hi everyone, I am actually working from home today - what a skiver I am! I actaully had a verruca frozen yesterday on the bottom of my foot and am limping around the place (that's my excuse and I am sticking to it)! Actually my house is like a sauna and think an air conditioned office might be nice.....actually no I would choose home any day.

I also have my scan this afternoon - yahoo, I am so excited I couldn't sleep last night. My DH is coming with me, he wouldn't miss it for the world. We have agreed we want to find out the sex.

Florence congratualations on the news of a little girl. Oh this is making me feel very broody and might even shed a tear.

Piglit I am with you on watching the program on Wed, I think it will be educational. I am sure it will have a good ending too. God I hope so.

Turtle35 · 13/06/2004 14:30

Piglit I think it's fantastic you wore a bikini on your hols (you go girl), I am off to Italy in August (yes I am completely bonkers) feeling very warm today can't imagine how Italy will be in August but anyway, I am tempted to bring along a bikini also, any suggestions on finding some nice pg bikinis?

piglit · 13/06/2004 14:37

I just bought a plain one and a bright flowery thing both from M&S. The advantage with M&S is that you can buy separate sizes for tops and bottoms. I did also wear a pre preg bikini top which had been too big before pg and it was, ahem, a snug fit. Dh said my cleavage looked like Barbara Windsor's in her Carry On days.

Are you flying to Italy? I'm trying to find out more about flying later in pg as I want to go and visit some friends and family in August and wasn't sure if I could fly that late. It's only an hour away and I thought that would be fine but my s-i-l said that she thought flying isn't good for baby after 30 weeks.

BIBIBOO · 13/06/2004 14:45

hope this helps

piglit · 13/06/2004 14:47

Thanks Bibiboo - that's very helpful!

Turtle35 · 13/06/2004 14:55

Piglit, I am flying, I will be 31 weeks, I checked with the airline and they do request a dr. note but I shouldn't think there would be a problem as long as I don't have any complications. I think it's actually two hours to Sorrento where we are going but I think I should be able to handle it.

Just ordered a bikini from Jojo maman bebe, will let you know. There is no way I could fit into anything but a pg swimsuit at 7 months!!

BIBIBOO · 13/06/2004 14:58

Am v jealous of you all and your holidays! I want to go, but wedding has cleaned us out this year - boooo!

piglit · 13/06/2004 15:30

Turtle - ooh, how fab. I love Sorrento.

Toots · 13/06/2004 15:47

How hot? Have to go to bank and other bits and pieces and have stupidly left it til hotter than hell lunchtime.

Florence UK hoo-hah for your scan.

Where is Beansprout?

piglit · 13/06/2004 15:48

Beansprout is on holiday this week. What a fab week to be away.

Turtle35 · 13/06/2004 15:53

I just tried to sit in the sun! I am a complete maniac, it's so bloody hot!

Toots, how did your haircut turn out? I read you are never supposed to do anything drastic with hair when pg?

Piglit, it's my first time in Sorrento, the hotel has a fab pool and rooms are air conditioned so think it should be ok.

Bibi - how about a long weekend away somewhere in the UK? that is if you live in the UK? at least it will be a break for you. Congrats on the recent nuptials!

Bean are you around?

piglit · 13/06/2004 15:59

Turtle - Sorrento will be fab. I've been there 3 times and although it's hot it doesn't seem too bad because the sea keeps you cool. Much nicer than hot and humid London IMHO!

Turtle35 · 13/06/2004 16:18

are there any specific questions I should be asking at this scan? will they tell me things like the placenta is normal and positioned well, there is plenty amniotic fluid, my uteris is such and such a size or do I have to ask? Will they let me listen to the baby's heart beat?

BIBIBOO · 13/06/2004 16:19

I've got a week off work in August so might do some day tripping - my ideal would be a week in France, seeing lovely cathedrals and historic sites, but DH is more into his rollercoaster type hols, so we've got to compromise. Maybe a few days in West Wales by the coast or a break at Centre Parks...

Still jealous of you overseas travellers, but am not at all jealous of trying to wedge myself into an aeroplane seat!

piglit · 13/06/2004 17:26

Turtle - they check all the baby's bits and pieces (bladder, spine, heart, bones) and ask if you want to know if it's a dd or ds. I don't think you can hear the heartbeat as such but you see it booming away on the screen. The let you know about the placenta and the size of the baby too. Takes about 15 - 20 mins.
