Aw, you guys...

Love the lullaby idea Bibiboo, but afraid (while not wanting to sound unappreciative) that I would be copiously sick if I drank warm milk (although I might as well get used to the smell of milk sick?)

I drop off ok, but just wake up 3-4am and that's me done. I'm the most radiant zombie in town today!

Toots · 03/07/2004 22:23

Allyco, that's horrific. I'm so sorry. Sending you love and support for getting through this. Unload here whenever you need to. Take every offer of help, won't you. You must be reeling.

Bibiboo · 04/07/2004 16:35

My belly took on a weird shape this morning and I didn't like it! After shower sat on bed to rub oil in belly, was sucking stomach in (as far as it would go) to rub th underside, and saw a big round protrustion abouve my belly button - was this my baby's head or botty? It seen went away, but it was so strange I've been thinking about it all day. Is this to be expected from now on?

Bibiboo · 04/07/2004 16:36

I'm that shocked I can't even spell anymore. Please ignore moose brain.

littlerach · 04/07/2004 16:43

Yes, I have the most amazing protrusions now (am 34wks), sometimes a foot, often the bum!!!

Toothache · 04/07/2004 16:46

lol Bibiboo - Yup you willnow feel like you have an Alien trying to escape through your abdomin.

I actually managed to get hold of the baby's foot through my flab the other day! It was kicking just under ribs and I grabbed it..... it soon removed it's foot from my rib.

beansprout · 04/07/2004 17:13

They have FEET??!!!!

Turtle35 · 04/07/2004 17:22

Bibi - how funny it must of been really strange to see the bulge! Another milestone of pregnancy me thinks. Imagine grabbing it's foot, I have such a big grin on my face. I love it

did anyone read the Evening Standard yesterday about the miracle foetus 4d scan images. They were amazing! I can't and wont give an opinion on abortion at 24 weeks, I am almost 24 weeks now - say no more.

Bibiboo · 04/07/2004 17:37

I think it's going to take a bit of getting used to, the idea of being able to grab baby's feet and the like. Next time he/she rears his/her gorgeous head I shall give it a loving pat though

Told the ladies in work about it and one kindly suggested that maybe it was a fist I saw (I think she thought that was less scary than a head), but if the fist's that big, then goodness help me when it come to birthing the head!!!

Bibiboo · 04/07/2004 17:55

Just read the Evening Standard Article online Turtle - quite upsetting really. Couldn't find the 4d scans one though, but did find something on BBC website about that - sooooo cute being able to see babies "smiling" and yawning!

beansprout · 04/07/2004 17:57

Wow - grabbing feet 'n' stuff...! I'm still too gobsmacked to react quickly enough - more at the "oh my god my belly is MOVING!!!" sort of stage. Will try and have my wits about me tonight (such that they are).

motherinferior · 04/07/2004 17:59

Bean, if you need any help in identifying a newborn baby's willy you know who to ask (not me)

beansprout · 04/07/2004 18:06

But MI your dds are utterly gorgeous!!!
I'm sort of hoping for one-with-a-willy but then again, without would be fab too!

I'm still getting over the idea that s/he has feet!

Turtle35 · 04/07/2004 18:06

Bibi how many weeks are you now?

Bean I know it's gonna be sooooo weird when it happens but really fun too!

I have great news, I have been given the go ahead to work from home on Fridays and Mondays. I am so pleased, it will make such a big difference in my life not having that awful commute 5 days a week. Hurray!!

beansprout · 04/07/2004 18:13

Turtle - that's fab!! I was wondering how you had got on!! That will make such a difference, I'm really pleased for you!

Bibiboo · 04/07/2004 18:24

Congrats Turtle - v jealous! It takes 4-5 months to set up a work-from-home scheme here, so no good to me. I'm 24 weeks and get nervous everytime the word 'hospital' is mentioned or when I think, only 16 weeks left to go...

I can't wait to hold my baby, but I want that birth nonsense to be over with sharpish! Being pregnant is nice, but I am getting impatient now and want to be a mummy. Feel like I've been pg for ever and ever. I found out the day my period was due, so it's been a long time.

Anyone else getting the jitters for real? I mean, I was always nervous about birth, ut it's getting scarier every day now.

beansprout · 04/07/2004 18:32

With you all the way there Bibiboo, feel exactly the same, and then I feel overwhelmed by the permanance of it all... eek!

Can we talk about scratch mittens or something leedle and cute please? Not quite up for being a grown up today (it's bad enough having to do a passing impression at work).

Bibiboo · 04/07/2004 18:51

Okay, scratch mittens it is then - I've seen a pair which I think are adorable, but my friend thinks are horrible - they have the words LOVE and HATE across the knuckles

I think they are ace.

sooz31 · 04/07/2004 18:54

That's great news Turtle. I work from home once in a while and it's a real God-send. Yesterday for example, I fell asleep in front of the Hewitt/Coria game, I was working so hard!!!

We've got builders arriving next week, so somehow that's taking over?!! Baby's room? We'll be lucky to have a bathroom!!

So, since I feel a bit like DH and I are not quite as organised by db's arrival as we were for ds, I'm curious to know how much you have all done in preparation for 'October'... I've started NCT classes (refresher ones - good, but scary - moving on swiftly), but not purchased a thing! What about you?

Turtle35 · 04/07/2004 19:18

Sooz, I think as part of my nesting I am making endless lists to remind myself to do things otherwise I forget everything. One baby step at a time.

I have purchased a TS, yippee we went for the bugaboo frog in the end, it cost a fortune but so many people have said it was "the best investment they made".

Bibi if it's any consolation I am scared sh..less of October and really want if over with too.

OK I know this is crazy but I went to the Hermes sale today in London and bought.....wait for it Hermes baby pj's!! They were so adorable and less than 50% off so I couldn't resist. I am sure as soon as she pukes on them they will be ruined but I am claiming pg insanity at the moment.

beansprout · 04/07/2004 19:18

Scratch mittens with Love and Hate on them? Really?!! Wow, think I will get some just to annoy people!!

Sooz - we don't have a room for db so prob moving after Xmas. Have been given some stuff but none actually bought yet. Doing AN yoga but classes come later. Not being very thorough at the moment, but I think will be ok...?

sooz31 · 04/07/2004 19:32

Yes, lists. Good start! Good thinking!

Wowee, Turtle! hermes pjs!! Splendid stuff! I'm kind of imagining your turtlett(e) all scarfed up, a la francais BCBG chic!! I'm sure they are gorgeous.

Am v. that you have gone for the bugaboo. DH has ruled it out since we discovered how much the house renovations were going to cost us! And because we already have a perfectly good pushchair... !!

Love the idea of the Love/Hate scratch mits, Bibi. IKWYM about wishing it were all over soon... but can I suggest you make the most of your and DH's time together as a couple, especially while you're not too big (cinema, meals out etc)? Because for a while those things will stop!!

piglit · 04/07/2004 20:10

We've done nothing for bump yet - haven't even bought him any scratch mittens. I keep thinking we've got ages and ages but a couple of people have expressed surprise at this and given me a whithering "ooh, bad parent alert" glare.

However, I am going to John Lewis and Mamas and papas tomorrow armed with my favourite credit card so that may all have changed by tomorrow.

geogteach · 04/07/2004 22:46

Can confess have also done nothing for DB, fancy an E3 Explorer as I will need a double, but feel I should really economise and take one of the maclaren's i've been offered. Had the day off today as DD was ill, have to say I enjoyed it, I'm also enjoying the knowledge that I only have 7 days of work left (I only work 3 days a week and school holidays take up first 6 weeks of my mat leave). Also found out date of DS operation today, 2 weeks tomorrow, maybe when that and work are out of the way i'll start planning for DB!

cerys · 05/07/2004 11:44

hello all, hope everyone's doing OK, especially Allyco.
I am feeling slightly less exhausted this week and on Monday night had a burst of energy and spent hours tidying the girls' toys, books etc. DH got worried and thought I was nesting (the day before DD2 was born I cleaned for Wales, even the windows!) but it was nice to feel a bit less zombie-like.
I am looking very pregnant now, but am only 22 or 23 weeks. I am now gritting my teeth whenever people say "ooh, aren't you big" or "is it twins?"
Grrrr! The other one that really winds me up is "I expect you want a boy" - as if DD2 was a disappointment and that this baby is another try for one.
I am trying to eat healthily, but some days better than others. I wish the supermarkets wouldn't put ice cream bars on 2 for the price of 1 - it's all their fault, not the fact that I have no willpower at all when it comes to chocolate.
Sorry, will stop ranting now!
