Yikes in that case - there is a long way to go yet! Surely there must be some sort of bump bra device out there? I feel a google coming on....

florenceuk · 08/06/2004 19:38

Sometimes I think my bump is sore just where bubs is poking a bit too hard. Probably everything loosening up a bit and stretching - as are the achey joints.

My bump is quite large and noticeable now - have had lots of people commenting and asking if I am off on maternity leave imminently (er not for 4mths). Just remember, however big you are now, you will be much much larger by October, I promise!

huppa · 08/06/2004 21:00

beansprout - during my last pregnancy I bought a kind of elaticated belt thing that sat under the bump and supported it. I know that´s not a very good description but I found it quite useful. Not so sure I´d want to wear it in summer. It was from the Anita maternity underwear range. I´m not sure if they sell it in England but I´m sure a search through google will reveal all.

geogteach · 08/06/2004 21:38

Spent all day at Bluewater (Topshop have already sold out of their new maternity range!)Got a couple of things, DD is 1 tomorrow (can't believe its only a year since I last went through the birth thing!)and I am going away on a hen weekend - first time i've left DH with both kids. Seem to be stupidly busy, DS has just been diagnosed as being profoundly deaf so I have to take him for emergency ENT appointment on monday, I also have annomaly scan next week, some of the folks at work are going to be forgiven for thinking i'm already on maternity leave!

motherinferior · 08/06/2004 22:00

Geogteach, just popping in/lurking to say about your son: National Deaf Children's Society seem to be v good if you don't know about them already. Hope you're OK. Oh, and my dd2 is nearly one and I'm FULL of admiration for you in having another so soon! (Bit envious too

Toots · 09/06/2004 13:33

Hi all. Geogteach, sounds as though you've got a lot on at the moment, take it easy, won't you. Can't wait to see Top Shop maternity stuff. Going to be in Oxford St next Friday. Hope they haven't sold out.

Beans - there is something called a belly bra, funnily enough. Supposed to be good, although costs £30 - which ought to buy you a person to hold your bump and open doors for you if you ask me. I've been lent one, which is fantasticlich, though haven't tried it yet. Good point about the pelvic floor Bibiboo, I've been neglecting mine.

I'm feeling really tired today. And weepy. It came on suddenly when dp was about to leave to take dd to nursery. I had this sudden rush of 'don't leave me you two'. Would like to spend today being cuddled and stroked and told everything's OK. Was wondering why I was feeling so weepy and anxious and just realised it's just a pregancy symptom, not anything real. Although that hasn't helped enormously. Does anyone else feel like their pregnancy is slowing down? mine zoomed from about 13-20 weeks, but 20-22 have seemed like aeons. Perhaps it's the run up to the scan which is Monday.

Anyway, must pull self together. Am going to book for snazzy west end haircut, to see if that makes me like my hair any better, and then get to WORK. Like a demon, like a dervish, like I've got a deadline

BIBIBOO · 09/06/2004 13:54

Morning Toots,

Haha, I know how the "don't leave me" feeling creeps up on you... I get clingy like a poorly toddler when I'm not in check of my emotions (which is never these days!)
I always thought my pelvic floor was doing a fine job until baby put it's weight on my bladder, now it needs a lot of help just to keep the wee in - goodness knows what else would fall out if I stopped doing my exercises altogether! So keep clenching or tensing or whatever it is we're meant to do with them...

I need a belly bra too! Jealous now. I might slip into poorly toddler mode when I get home and foot-stamp until DH buys me a belly bra. None of my knickers are big enough now - went into M&S on weekend and bought their biggest undercrackers (sorry, "Full B" in a bigger size and they still don't cover belly and bum at same time - it's one or the other now. I'm going to have to give in to the maternity knickers now aren't I?

BIBIBOO · 09/06/2004 13:55

That should have read "Full Briefs" - sorry

beansprout · 09/06/2004 14:21

Demon dervish Toots - good luck with the scan, hope you enjoy the best 20 mins of tv this year!

Geogteach - sorry to hear about DS, that must present a whole series of challenges. Hope the appointment goes ok.

Bibi (and everyone!) I am struggling to ensure that this Bean remains a mat. pants free zone!! They really are the item that I dread the most (and I include my mat. shorts in that). I bought bigger (as in dress size) pants and they are remaining under bump. Thongs were recommended but I think dp should be spared that.

I too have my clingy/needy moments. No change there then

florenceuk · 09/06/2004 14:33

Toots my scan is Monday too! DH can't make it unfortunately as he has a function that pm. So I'll have to cope with demon toddler in the scan room myself. I don't think it will be a relaxing 20min. Maybe I should take some reins and tie him to the chair. I'm definitely going to find out the sex - anybody else as well?

Re knickers, I just bought minis from M&S in a size up and they are fine - just sit under the bump.

sooz31 · 09/06/2004 14:50

knicks-wise, I managed to last throughout my last pregnancy with Marksies' normal cotton briefs, think they were called 'bikinis'. shallow ones, sat nicely under the bump and were v comfy.

Plenty of aesthetic reasons not to go for mat-knicks, but also think they'd be too hot for summer?

Want to share little proud moment with you - yesterday DS (2) did his first standing-up wee in the loo yesterday... he just toddled off before getting into the bath and stood on the stool all by himself, he was so cute. Am so proud!

Currently stuffing my happy face with danish and fresh decaf coffee. Anyone else want to join me?!

beansprout · 09/06/2004 15:08

ooh, count me in Sooz! Chocolate croissant for me!

Am impressed by DS! There are still plenty of grown men who don't seem to quite manage that

Turtle35 · 09/06/2004 15:40

Sooz that must of wrenched your heart - how wonderful. I am struggling on the knicker front too. I have some g-strings that sit under the bump and add an extra roll and the one's that go over the bump tend to roll down as the day goes on. Really don't want to resort to mat knickers!

I just let out the loudest burp at the office and shocked myself, thank god no one was around my desk at the time!!

Am off to eat a Starbucks Croque Monsieur - they are addictive!!

BIBIBOO · 09/06/2004 16:21

Don't know if I can cope with the under bump knicks - they weren't my fave before I was pg as I didn't like my jeans or waistbands rubbing my tummy, always felt like I should hoist them up. But mat. knicks are going to be sooooo hot for summer - if it wasn't for the pesky goings on downstairs I'd go commando...

Turtle35 · 09/06/2004 16:29

Bibi I am with you on the pesky goings on down there. It's awful!!

BIBIBOO · 09/06/2004 17:00

Aren't we just gross creatures? All those leaks from everywhere, boobs are the worst though, although continuous snot is getting me down too. Going to shut up now before I turn you all green!

Toots · 09/06/2004 17:55

Honestly, I turn my back for a couple of hours and you're all gusset-mongering. Bibi, you are without a doubt the WORST offender , but you're my kind of gal with your big u-crackers. I've gone for size 18 (ususally 14) Peacocks full b's at a pound a pop (a pound - at that kind of money, I can change them every time I sneeze, do you see?) They are charming in a fifties type of way and have a little bow. You lot in your minis and thongs, what do you think this is, a holiday? I am in fine spirits having done some work and made some niggly phone calls (car, accounts - that kind of thing) Oh, and I've had a kip, so lucky me.
Florence UK, I am going to produce an enormous packet of chocolate buttons and a tacky placky new toy for dd as soon as we get in the scan room.

Sending you all love for a non-weepy, non-leaky lovely weekend.

beansprout · 09/06/2004 18:06

I did wonder (momentarily) if this is what disposable mat. briefs are, but no, they are for the tsunami that comes later, which will make this look like a walk in the park.

Ladies, we've only just begun....

I like the way this thread is getting down to business - a few weeks ago it was "ooh, my trousers are a bit tight" and now we are looking for cheap knickers to leak into all day... nice.
Toots -

beansprout · 09/06/2004 18:07

Toots - with your insights and cheap pants, you area wise woman. If you ever set up a cult, count me in.

BIBIBOO · 09/06/2004 18:22

If I can't be gusset mongering on this site, then I'd be stuck for a whinge! Not suitable for office coffee-breaks, DH really doesn't want to know all the gory details (bless him), non-pg friends are getting ever so grossed out with me, and as you lot know what it's all about, you're stuck with it haha

Sorry gals, maybe I'll keep a Leak Diary instead to gross out baby when he/she's older - or would the be considered child abuse?

Toots - I'm into the sz 18 M&S pants too - and I'm usually a 14, so at least we're not alone. Can't tell you how disheartening it was to go up TWO sizes and still not cover all my bits entirely I can see me going down the Peacocks knicks road soon enough, and carrying spare pairs round with me for when my pelvic floor really can't be bothered anymore.
Thongs are out - can't imagine anything worse than a teensy little thong getting in all the wrong places and having to be recovered at various point during the day.

Anyone every worn paper knicks? Like the Maternity disposable things? Pre-pregnancy when I had St Tropez and other lovely beauty treatments, I wore them regularly and they are fine for an hour, saving your own knicks from fake tan, but I can't imagine wearing them as a matter of course for day or weeks after the birth - nooooooo! I want SOME dignity at least! Am I just too fussy to be a pg lady?

Toots · 09/06/2004 21:11

I bought some disposable ones for hospital. Thank goodness I tried them on beforehand (particularly hard up for fun, on probably about day 11 overdue) they burst on impact - not remotely big/stretchy enough.

Have hit my deadline! Am stunned and delighted and already over my alcohol units for this week.

piglit · 12/06/2004 12:48

Morning laydeez. I hope you are all well. I can't believe I've been away for 2 whole weeks (where does the time go??). I now have a brown bump but no doubt it will be its usual pale colour in a few days.

I haven't had a chance to read up on everything that's been happening whilst I've been away but I did see something about bumps and bladders. I've had quite a bit of discomfort where it feels like bump is pressing (jumping?) on my bladder. Does anyone else find that? I end up having to go to the loo every 20 minutes.

BIBIBOO · 12/06/2004 13:30

Nice hols Piglit? Brown bump sounds lovely , but I'd settle for a pale white one if only I could get rid of stretch marks!
I fell yesterday and cut both my knees - cue big sympathy! - so spent day sitting in sun feeling v sorry for myself while DH and MIL brought me glasses of cordial and generally mollycoddled me.

Nice weekend everyone?

piglit · 12/06/2004 13:58

I hope you are ok Bibiboo. Make sure you milk that sympathy....

BIBIBOO · 12/06/2004 14:27

Anyone else feeling suspiciously well, happy and content today? Is this normal in pg?
