After 10 years of fertility treatments, countless failed IVF cyclces and four heartbreaking miscarriages (all at around five weeks), my brother phoned me tonight to tell me that he was sitting on his sofa looking at a scan picture of a little tiny being with a strong heartbeat at seven weeks! Its early days but all the signs are good and this is the furthest they have ever come. I am just sending a heartfelt plea for all of you, whatever your beliefs, to send a little prayer or positive thought that this little baby makes it. I really really believe it makes a difference. We've been praying hard ever since the IVF cycle and I dreamt they had a little girl! They will be wonderful parents. So please send a thought of strength and life and hope and love and whatever else to help this most precious little person make it safely into the world.
thanks with the biggest lump in my throat xx

Babies are Angels that fly to the earth,

their wings disappear at the time of their birth

one look in their eyes and we're never the same

They're part of us now and that part has a name

That part is your heart and a bond that won't sever

our Babies are Angels, we love them forever.

hunkermunker · 10/03/2007 01:22

Oh MM - trying not to let DS1 see me crying. I was a latecomer to this adventure but it has touched my heart.
Congratulations to all of you, and can't wait to see pictures of Neve.
It's so so so nice to have a wonderfully positive story on MN.
Congratulations to your bro and SIL - they must be on cloud nine, as must you.
xxxx

time4tea · 10/03/2007 10:19

what a beautiful end to the story... and all the better because it is really a beginning.
enjoy these precious early days, and take out & read this thread in case of drab days to remember how lucky we are.

here's the meaning of Neve in the original Irish spelling Niamh.. how apt indeed.

niamh: "radiance, lustre, brightness."

melbournemum · 10/03/2007 10:23

oh everyone is just beside themselves, no-one in our family can quite function properly at the moment, its all too overwhelming. I've had my head in the clouds all day. On that note, I was re-reading through the thread as I was putting the special mumsnet message book together for them tonight and realised how appalling my spelling and grammar was in post about Neve's birth. You'll have to forgive me, you're lucky my fingers hit any keys at all they were shaking so hard! My parents are coming to Sydney tomorrow from the country as well and Katie's mum is already there so our entire family will be together for the most wonderful occassion imaginable.
You'll all be with us in spirit too.
Can't wait to post on how gorgeous she is in the flesh!!

thank you time4tea, that meaning is just perfect for our little Neve bean. I"ll print this new post out and add it to the book just now.
Perfect.

Also wanted to thank you Donnylass for the utterly beautiful poem. You are amazing. I laughed out loud when I read through the posts from you and Aunty Strawberry before Neve's arrival.
I just love this thread so much, I'll miss it when we finally sign off (can we wait until she's 18??)

Such wonderful news - I tried very hard not to cry.
I presume Neve is a variation on the traditional Irish name "Niamh" which means "radiance, lustre, brightness". The story behind it is as follows:
The daughter of the sea god Manannan she was known as "Niamh of the Golden Hair," a beautiful princess riding on a white horse. She fell in love with Fionn's son Oisin and lived with him in Tir-na-nOg ("Land of the Young") where 300 years passed in what seemed like three weeks.

Congratulations to the proud mum and dad and their radiant daughter!!!

Uki · 10/03/2007 11:18
