I'm a bit nervous about opening this thread as I've only foundt out I'm pregnant and anything can happen...anyway, due date 1st november, I still cant believe it.....
This is my second baby but I'm even more anxious about this pregnancy than first time round...I'd been wantind a 2nd baby for over a yera now, but dh wanted to wait longer, and now it's happened, but it wasn't planned at all!!!

We're both over the moon though, but trying to contain our happyness just in case....(easier said than done)

anyway, I fell better now, having shared this with you..

off to play with dd1 now!!!

Hi everyone......what an emotional week for you Bunny! I have been bawling at the pooter for the last few days! Funny how things are put into perspective....my skin is dreadful....really bad... and I have been moaning all week about it until I read about what you have been through and I immediately shut up!!

Scan is next Wednesday and I think I will be 14+1 weeks so there should be lots to see. Will find out the sex at the 20 week scan.

Sickness is wearing off at last but am exhausted......dont know how I worked so long last time. Am still eating for Italy and the UK and am nearly wearing maternity clothes!

Have a lovely weekend everyone.....weather is fab today.

eidsvold · 16/05/2004 08:17

yeh - first morning without being sick or even feeling sick - despite a very busy day yesterday - cleaning and packing!!

bunny2 · 16/05/2004 21:02

Some cheeky old bloke across the road said to me "you've put alot of weight on havent you?" how rude. I would have been really upset if I wasnt pregnant.

vivie · 16/05/2004 22:01

Hi everyone. I just realised I haven't said hi to plantpot, I was so worried about bunny2 and twinkie. I'm very sorry, plantpot, congratulations and welcome!
We've just had a lovely weekend playing in the garden with ds in the sunshine and eating barbequed food - lots of it. My bump is so big you'd think I was at least 20 weeks, and not all of it is potato salad!
I hope you are all also feeling relaxed and healthy.

Samcj · 17/05/2004 12:05

Hi there everyone! I've made it back from my hols, very nice time, got a bit of colour to me now, but it's nice to be back.
Bunny, sorry to hear about all your worries, glad things seem to be getting better for you, sometimes it seems we get to know too much, the more we know the more to worry about.
Twinkie, I wish you all the best for your results, they should be back in the next few days?
Pot pourri, I know linseeds are supposed to be one of the best things to take every day to help keep things moving! Have a handful in between your bouts of sickness (you poor thing!) or on your cereal or toast. Should be able to get in health food shop.
Had one bit of a drama on hols. Went for a nice walk after breakfast on friday morning, and started getting abdo pain, untill I couldn't actually walk anymore! A local woman sat us down in this hotel next door to where she worked, I told her I was pregnant and she convinced me that this pain was not normal and I must see the doctor! She scared me into it!
The long and short of it is I had a scan a week early. I think everything is fine! The baby was literally jumping up and down like it was in a baby bouncer! I could not believe how much it moved around. The only thing is now, not that I am complaining really is that I don't know if they did all the tests, Her english was not good and my turkish leaved even more to be desired!
All the report is written in turkish too. I have just been told I have a normal twleve week pregnancy. I'm just not sure to tell people or not, it was so exciting, can't believe that is actually 'in there'! We have decided it was having a little party! I'll do what I always do I think, speak to mum, get her opinion first!
I think I have felt my baby move a few times too, I could even feel it oustside my tummy, and see it too! Not happened again quite the same since, have begun to just put it down to wind.
Not looking forward to tomorrow night, back to work for a twelve and a half hour night shift, I'm an ICU nurse, I have been having afternoon naps every afternoon for the past two weeks, it will be a BIG shock to the system!!
Anyway, do you think I've just about made up for my two week absense with this post?!... Sorry everbody, nice to blurt everything that is going through my busy little mind to other people! Hope your ears aren't bent too much! Thinking of you all! xxx

Twinkie · 17/05/2004 12:06

Bunny can you contact me through mumsnet - when I try and send something to you it crashes my lono!!

bunny2 · 17/05/2004 20:30

ok Twinkie, sorry abou that. I'll send you an email.

Samcj, good to hear from you and that all is going well.

Hows everyone else?

PandaBear · 18/05/2004 14:05

Hi everyone, glad to hear you are all doing well. I had my first appointment at the antenatal clinic today and was quite disappointed that they didn't try to listen for baby's heartbeat! All they did was take blood pressure, and check my wee!!! Oh well, some time soon I guess. How's everyone else find there appointments?

eidsvold · 18/05/2004 19:18

have not had any antenatal appointments - just 13 week scan - the midwife figured it wasn't worth getting involved as we are going soon - in 16 days to be precise we bid a farewell to these shores... then 5 days relaxing in Singapore - can't wait - getting very cranky and fed up at work.

Then finally arrive in Aus - after moving into our house - find a GP quick as I will be almost 20 weeks - and ready for scan no 2 and some antenatal monitoring I guess I used to get so annoyed at weeing in the pot but I kinda miss it now.

libb · 18/05/2004 20:01

Samcj, I told you I would come and find you - glad to hear your scan was okay! I shall dip in to keep an eye on you so look after yourself!

Reuben says hi by the way, at least he would if he could xx

libb · 18/05/2004 20:02

Oh, and best wishes to all you other mums to be. xxxx

bunny2 · 19/05/2004 09:33

thanks Libb.

I had my first antenatal tests - blood in my urine and high blood pressure. Wish I hadnt bothered .

How is everyone? It has been quiet on here lately.

jellycat · 19/05/2004 13:43

Hi everyone. I have my scan tomorrow so wish me luck! I am a bit worried ATM because it seems as though I may have been exposed to slapped cheek disease, which is apparently dangerous in the first 20 weeks and particularly in the second trimester . No idea if I'm immune.

PandaBear, sometimes they don't listen for the heartbeat because it is quite hard to hear until after about 14 weeks (can't remember how far on you are). Also, midwives have apparently been told not to listen for it routinely unless the woman requests it, so next time if she doesn't offer, ask!

Samcj, glad you had a good holiday.

eidsvold, hope all goes well with the big move.

I'll let you all know how the scan goes tomorrow (it's in the afternoon).

PandaBear · 19/05/2004 13:52

Thanks Jellycat, I'll definitely ask next time. Good luck for tomorrow!!

collision · 19/05/2004 22:06

Hi all..........had my scan today and everything was great! Was much less emotional than with ds as ds was there with DH and he could see the baby too. We were only there for 5 mins and we saw its heartbeat and the spine and its legs and nose and we got a good clear photo too.

Such a relief and now the sickness has gone too so I am feeling on top of the world. I have a new support bra which doesnt support and I feel I would be better off with some scaffolding.......my boobs are HUUUUUUGGGE! We left the hosp without paying the 36 euros too! Haha!

Love to all

Twinkie · 20/05/2004 10:13

Bunny got your mail - when do you want me to call you??

Hi everyone else hope you are all ok - my boobs are HUGE too much to DPs delight!!

Off to dentist this afternoon and then going to see DPs parents - can already feel myself blushing that they will now know that I have sex with DP!!

webmum · 20/05/2004 11:48

My boobs are much bigger than with dd1 (and so is my bump), I don't fit into any of my bras anymore, will ahve to buy new some new never tried sizes!!

am feeling ill today, had a weekend away, which was lovely, but got back with bad cold and bad cough, and finding it difficult breathing. Really wish I was at home in bed but had to come to work...

had a lovely chat about baby with dd this morning, she' so sweet!!

vivie · 20/05/2004 14:25

jellycat, what's slapped cheek disease? good luck with your scan.

bunny2 · 20/05/2004 18:33

Big boobs too but out of bounds for dh much to his disappointment. Wait till he sees the huge amternity bras I bought in M&S, they are like parachutes.

Twinkie, you can call anytime. I am ok wiht it all at the moment, how are you? When do your results come back?

Collision, really glad to hear your scan was good.

bunny2 · 20/05/2004 18:33

Jellycat, hope everything went well today.

Samcj · 20/05/2004 19:04

Hello all!
I thought my boobs were getting bigger (I've always hated the lack of any substance in that area!) but now I'm not so sure!! Dp thinks they are or says he does but not sure if he is just saying that to keep me happy!! No noticeable bump yet, just my normal gut!! How attractive am I making myself sound!!
Emotional though! Watching cra**y hollyoaks and crying at ben and izzy!! Sad I know. Having temper tantrums too!!
Had my 'proper' scan too this morning, everything seems fine. Baby obviously knackered, not doing a lot but then I had been working all night and had only just finished. Poor little thing, have a scan picture of it having a big long stretch.
About to tell all the people who don't know yet tonight as well, quite scared actually! Apparently my grandpa wasn't happy when my mum (who planned me) was pregnant, his response was 'oh god.' Wimping out and doing it by e mail to everyone I can! Have to ring my tactless aunty though... oh well...wish me luck.
Must stop such long emails!
Lib! Thanks for your message, good to hear from you!! Let me know about your progress with little Reuben, best wishes to the three of you!
Jellycat hope your scan was ok too.
All finished!!

Samcj · 20/05/2004 19:07

Bunny2, so sorry I have to ask why boobs out of bounds? is it because they are sore? Or his he being punished??!!
Tell me not to be so nosy by all means! Sorry.

eidsvold · 20/05/2004 20:16

just wanted to say a little thanks for your support and best wishes - this weekend we move out of our house and off to stay with the inlaws. Then off to Singapore and finally onto Aus to settle into our new home and new life.

So you all take care over the next few weeks - not sure when I will be able to get back here - probably after my 20 week scan - byt the time we get settled in.

Take care.

jellycat · 20/05/2004 21:41

Everything was fine, baby was wriggling around loads and the nuchal measurement was good. Phew! It took ages because the sonographer couldn't get the right angle for the measurement so we had a good look at our little bean. The images were startlingly clear, much better than with ds. Thanks for all your good wishes.

I also had my bloods taken to test for immunity to slapped cheek. Apparently there is an antibody injection which I can have if I am not immune, so much relief there too.

As promised ages ago, I shall now reveal my `normal' mumsnet identity which is gingernut. I shall probably post under this name in future, although I have grown quite fond of jellycat so maybe I'll just change my name in favour of the wobbly feline.

vivie, slapped cheek disease is one of the common childhood illnesses. It is caused by parvovirus. There is usually a bright red rash on the cheeks which makes it look as though the child has been slapped, hence the name. It is dangerous in the first 20 weeks of pg - it can cause miscarriage and foetal abnormality.

eidsvold, all the best for the move and I shall look forward to hearing from you again in a few weeks' time.

Samcj · 20/05/2004 22:05

Jellycat, glad to heat your scan went well, do you know when you will get the results from your tests? Best of luck, although like you say with the antidote hopefully not too much to worry about.
Eidsvold, I wish you a good journey and hope you settle in quickly in your new home, how exciting!! Don't forget us here with all the new life you will have over there, we all want here how everything is going for you over there, some different medical experiences too I'm sure!
