I'm a bit nervous about opening this thread as I've only foundt out I'm pregnant and anything can happen...anyway, due date 1st november, I still cant believe it.....
This is my second baby but I'm even more anxious about this pregnancy than first time round...I'd been wantind a 2nd baby for over a yera now, but dh wanted to wait longer, and now it's happened, but it wasn't planned at all!!!

We're both over the moon though, but trying to contain our happyness just in case....(easier said than done)

anyway, I fell better now, having shared this with you..

off to play with dd1 now!!!

Scantastic Jellycat and Samcj . Great news for you both.

Samcj, dh has been banned from fiddling with me boobs cos a) they have been sore and b) it might lead to other things which are off the agenda (doctors orders due to my miscarriage history). Though I did say to him tonight he could have a grope if I get final choice on the baby's name, he turned me down.

eidsvold, good luck and bon voyage. We shall miss you and look forward to your return.

PotPourri · 21/05/2004 10:09

Cool news about your scans girls. and Eidsvold - good luck with your move. Hope we hear from you once you are settled.

I am also having probs with sore boobs - just posted a message actually asking for some advice on 'scafolding' to use collision's expression. I'm at the end of my tether and back in my underwired bras (which is working, but I know I'm not supposed to be wearing them).

Sickness is still with me. Will it ever go? I am nearly 13 weeks, so fingers crossed it will go soon. But worse than the sickness is the exhaustion. I am absolutely cream crackered. I just fall asleep without even knowing it - I did it yesterday and only knew I had been sleeping when the phone went and I realised I had missed Hollyoaks! I guess the blood tests at my scan next week will tell if I am anemic or something.
Am really looking forward to my scan now. I can't wait to see the baby and prove to myself that I am not just imagining the whole thing!

Twinkie · 21/05/2004 11:14

Hi all - glad your scans went well and you are all doing good.

I bought some maternity bras from M&S and they have been great - not too flattering but comfy and soft and thats all I care about with them at the mo - DP is impressed though - he says at least once a day - My God you have such huge boobs!! Did catch his staring at my belly when got out of the bath last night and felt a bit fat so told hikm not to stare at me but he said it is natural and he is just so happy and proud and it is all part of being pregnant - am taking the Miriam Stoppard book off of hm now I think!!

Bunny have had prelim results and have no syndromes that are immediately discernable, Pataus, Downs or Edwards but there may be other problems but the nice lady I spoke to said that these would be the same in terms as risk as a lady who had not had a CVS - they would not be brought up by a high nuchal result but are just checked anyway - we will know about that in about another week and half. Have heart scan at Kings at the end of June but Sonographer at CVS said that as far as she could see the heart looked fine.

Wea re out to tell DPs friend and his wife on Saturday - ooohhhh can;t wait for that - she doesn't like me much so will be all fun!! (She likes DP v.much though!!)

Hello to everyone I have not said hello to and hope oyu are all well. XXX

webmum · 21/05/2004 14:27

good luck with the move eidsvoid and have a good trip

good news about all the scans, I got my appointment for the cardiac scan at UCLH in june, cna't wait.

Had to rush to hospital last night because of v. bad chest and back pain, it turns out I have a chest infection, never had one in my life, I had to wait til I was pregnant!!

Anyway, feeling much better now with the antibiotics, but still a bit weak.

Have a good weekend everyone!!

Twinkie, that is really good news about yout cvs results, you must be walking on air

webmum, get well soon.

Ds has chicken pox, I should be fine as I have already had it but my gp wants me to have blood tests anyway. sigh, another thing to worry about.

PotPourri · 24/05/2004 09:41

Oh, am sooo excited. I have my first scan (dating scan) later this morning. Can't wait to see the baby, and confirm my dates etc. Am a bit nervous too. It says you should have a full bladder, am a bit worried about that as I need to pee constantly, so it'll feel really uncomfortable. I think that is so they can see the baby better, so it'll be worth it.

Will report back later...

Twinkie · 24/05/2004 09:43

PP - all the scans I have had say that a full bladder is no longer needed even as early as 12 weeks - when I had DD 4 years ago I had to have a full bladder but apparently that is no longer the case!!

bunny2 · 24/05/2004 10:14

Good luck PP

PotPourri · 24/05/2004 12:44

Well chicks. Scan went well. I could see the little arms & legs, and it's heartbeat. I was complimented on having a full bladder, so glad I held off going to the loo. It wasn't moving at first so she wrote up the report and then came back to me, and the baby was jumping and bouncing like mad. Relief.

But I am less far on than I thought - only 11 weeks and 5 days. So my due date is now 8 December. I'll probably see if I can get into the December thread as I will be the only one left standing!

Glad to see that I have not imagined it and there is a real little baby in there. And bonus, no morning sickness today so I am going to wallow in it!!

bunny2 · 24/05/2004 13:05

good news, pleased for you. Sad to see you move over to the December thread though. Good luck with the next 6 months.

vivie · 24/05/2004 14:30

glad your scan was a good 'un pot pourri. I'll check up on you on the Dec thread and make sure you're okay.
Hope you're feeling better webmum.
I have a confession - I'm still wearing underwired bras. My boobs haven't changed size or shape yet so they still fit really well and apparently it's only a problem if the wires dig in and affect the milk ducts. Don't tell the pregnancy police!

Twinkie · 24/05/2004 14:33

I am too - my boobs look awful in those maternity ones (M&S do 2 for £20 - maternity ones that is!!), think wearing a maternity bra now would be giving into my expanding everything too soon!! I have already said goodbye waist I can;t say good bye nice shaped boobs too!!

Samcj · 24/05/2004 18:02

Hi PP, glad your scan went well, Sad news that you will be leaving us (or will you be active on both?). But some good news, I can categorically state that the 8th of december is the best date on the calender, very nice people are born on that day!!! yes, its my birthday!
Didn't realise that you only have to stop wearing the underwired bras when they start digging in, damn! Just been out on fri to buy some M and S maternity ones, DP face quite literally fell when I showed him the one I had on today!! Might resort to the old favourites, I wouldn't mind these apart from they keep sticking out over the top of my tops!! No good!
Hope everyone is well and happy.

vivie · 24/05/2004 21:25

I have an appontment with my midwife tomorrow. I hope she can pick up the baby's heartbeat!

webmum · 25/05/2004 12:42

feeling much better, thanks to those who asked.

antibiotics worked wonders!

on the subject of bras, I found a really nice lacy one in mothercare, which amazingly manages to keep my boobs separate instead of merging them into a shapeless blob (as most of these support bras seem to do) and it was even half price!!

gingernut · 25/05/2004 13:34

PotPourri, great news about your scan. I'll pop over to the Dec. thread every now and then to see how you're getting on. My ds's due date was 10th Dec. (although he was late).

I can't believe some of you are still in your normal bras - my boobs have gone up by 2 cups sizes already (still not big, they were just virtually non-existant before!). I am wearing horrid maternity bras from Mothercare which I had when pg with ds. Last time I wore them till the end. This time I think I'll burst out of them before then (good excuse to go and get some new ones ). It's probably just chub though but nice to be well-endowed!

vivie, how did your m/w appointment go, did you hear a heartbeat? Don't worry if you didn't, it can be hard to pick up in the early stages.

Mum2Ela · 25/05/2004 14:31

Hi everyone. Haven't been on for a while, have been lurking fmore than anything.

Well, I'm 15 + 2 now and am getting excited!! I don't 'do' maternity bras. I just buy bigger ones somewhere cheap (like matalan). After I had DD and went to buy some nursing bras from Mothercare, I realised they didn't go up to my size (like a 34e+!). Actually am getting pissed off with DH commenting on them all the time and trying to grope them. Owch!

I'll have a read of everyones messages in work tomorrow and have a gossip then!

Hope you are all ok.

x

bunny2 · 25/05/2004 19:42

Hi M2E, good to have you back. My dh is very excited by my fast-increasing chest too! They arent so sore now but I still wont let him near them, might lead to other things and I just dont have the strength!!!

The midwife listened for a heartbeat today and said it was "perfect". It was so great to hear, much less stressful than going for a scan so I am going to hire a doppler. Then I can indulge all my worries by listening in every day. Scan tomorrow, I am going to ask about the nasal bone, if it is missing at this stage that can be very significant and I have been checking my scan pics for evidence of one but cant locate it so far. Fingers crossed we'll see it tomorrow.

vivie, hope your appt went well.

vivie · 25/05/2004 20:56

Appointment went really well. My baby was swimming around and the heartbeat was really clear. I must admit I almost cried - I blame it on the pregnancy hormones.

Actually, I think I must be blooming or something because I'm feeling really well, really relaxed, healthy, confident. I don't think I bloomed when I was pg with ds because I was doing a job I hated and was totally stressed and unhappy, but this time I'm a full time mum, I adore being with my son and as he's a fairly easy going chap, I can rely on a rest at nap time. The fab weather is a mood boost whatever!

Bunny2 I will be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping for good news.

plantpot · 26/05/2004 11:05

hi all (not been very active on the board lately just lurking)just a quick question has anyone had to have a glucose tolerance test after routine bloods showed a possible problem?

webmum · 26/05/2004 11:45

gingernut

if that's any consolation I've gone from a C cup to a E cup, in just a few weeks. WIth dd1 I only got as far as DD, so I've had to invest in some 'scaffolding' to use collision's phrase!!

OP posts:
gingernut · 26/05/2004 12:04

Well, webmum, it's not that awful really - I was an A' cup and am now a C' so it's not really a case of needing scaffolding, I just can't wear my normal nice bras (in fact, I gave up on them when I was only about 5 weeks they were so uncomfortable).

plantpot, I've not had a GTT but a friend of mine has. What did you want to know about it?

bunny, hope the scan went well.

plantpot · 26/05/2004 12:49

gingernut as much as possible please ive heard they give you a sweet drink and then asses your blood at regular intervals someone said they felt weak and faint after the test im due to be at work the same day do you think its best to take the day off,how long did your freind wait for her results.

gingernut · 26/05/2004 13:03

Plantpot, I am seeing my friend this afternoon so I'll ask her. I do know they give you a sweet drink and then take blood samples at certain intervals after that. I found some information here . It is quite likely you'd feel faint afterwards since you have to fast from the night before. I'd take something with you to snack on afterwards. I would imagine the results are availabe immediately because blood sugar levels can be tested just like that. My dh has diabetes and tests his blood regularly using a monitor which gives the result in about 30 seconds.

plantpot · 26/05/2004 13:47

ta very much for the info gingernut i think i just panicked a bit as this is my 5th pregnancy and ive never had any sort of problem before
