I'm a bit nervous about opening this thread as I've only foundt out I'm pregnant and anything can happen...anyway, due date 1st november, I still cant believe it.....
This is my second baby but I'm even more anxious about this pregnancy than first time round...I'd been wantind a 2nd baby for over a yera now, but dh wanted to wait longer, and now it's happened, but it wasn't planned at all!!!

We're both over the moon though, but trying to contain our happyness just in case....(easier said than done)

anyway, I fell better now, having shared this with you..

off to play with dd1 now!!!

Yes Ive seen the dentist - only one filling needed thank goodness.

I too am really bloated by the end of the day. When I get up in the morning I have a slight bump, by bedtime I look like I am on the brink of labour. It is really uncomfortable.

I am 16wks 2 days and dont think I have felt movement yet. Should I panic?
Sam, glad it sounds like the MIL from hell problem is solved

Webmum, that is a great story

libb · 10/06/2004 20:45

sorry to hijack your thread again but just wanted to say hi to Samcj and check you are all doing well.

Just read further down about your MIL, I would let it all go unsaid for now - when baby bean arrives there will be masses of people wanting to come and say hello. I am sure you will slot her in somewhere, just make sure that you call the shots! I got quite narky when every man and his dog kept turning up and instructions to phone were soon issued! (apart from one night when "D"P invited his friends round for football without telling me . . . that is another story though and it won't be happening again!). People are really kind and sweet for being interested but you need to look after yourself, baby and DP first!

Take care of yourselves everyone, so glad you are all doing well and things are going to plan! Lots of love, xxxx

Samcj · 10/06/2004 21:43

Hi Libb!!
I saw your story on the other thread actually, didn't post but just nice to catch up with your story... glad you have him in check now!!

Oh I don't know about the whole MIL thing, still bothering me, just had another spat about it, he realised that I had posted on here about it, got all defensive. So I let him read what was said, he was still insistant he was in the right, only have to hope things change before his plan becomes necessary!

I wouldn't mind if it was just a case of 'slotting her in', that isn't a problem at all, just don't agree with Dp taking the baby all the way down to see her alone, because she won't bother with baby, which seems to be what DP is expecting to be the case. Told my mum earlier, who likes him very much, said we should tape his mouth up to stop him saying such silly things!! Wants to know what world he was in...I love my mum!!

How's reuban? Always worry I'm spelling it wrong! How many weeks is he now? Are you enjoying life as a new mum? Was it anything like what you expected? Still can't imagine what that will be like, such a shock to the system I reckon, for me at least!! It's so nice to hear from you again, you are so sweet, I must make the effort next time to hijack your thread!!
Lots of love

libb · 10/06/2004 21:56

Samcj, bless your cotton socks - I have mailed you direct so I don't upset everyone else here! Its the first time I've done it so don't know what to expect in return!

Don't worry about spelling Reuben's name. I am expecting lots of variations. Poopants (very popular right now) is doing fine, at least as well as he can be with an uptight, cranky mum and muppet for a dad . . . .

Samcj · 10/06/2004 22:42

Libb, sent a reply, hope it gets too you!! Night night.

Twinkie · 11/06/2004 11:31

Bunny - I bet you have felt something - it is a light fluttering feeling - almost indiscernable but still there ever so slightly!!

Indegestion is common - just take a sip of gaviscon and you will be ok - I had it terribly with DD and have it aain this time.

And my belly is small in the mornig and like a big round bolder at night too!! - its soooo exciting!!

bunny2 · 11/06/2004 17:27

Twinkie, a few times I have felt a flutter, so quick I am not even sure I have felt it. It only happens every few days. I was hoping it was the baby.

Samcj · 11/06/2004 17:56

Yet another of my questions... you must dread seeing my posts (what is she going on about now?...) but has anyone booked their pre natal classes? Brought a magazine which reckons they should be booked by now... but I haven't even 'met a midwife' yet, am I supposed to have organised this myself?

bunny2 · 11/06/2004 21:18

Sam, I was told to book an NCT class about 4 wks ago when I was 12 wks. There were only a few places left at that time, they do get booked up. However, I decided against NCT as I have already done the course when I was pg with ds so I asked my midwife to book me onto the Parentcraft ones instead. I dont think the Parentcraft ones get so booked up but I could be wrong, it's best to make enquiries now.

We told ds at last that we are having a baby for him. He is so excited and keeps kissing my tummy declaring he loves his baby already. It is so sweet. He is going to be the most lovely big brother.

Is anyone else really hot at night? I have slept on top of the duvet with a fan blasting cold air at me for the last few nights, it's the only way I can get to sleep.

bunny2 · 11/06/2004 22:18

Twinkie, I have just seen your "Everything's fine " thread. Dont konw how I missed it when it was current but wanted to belateldly add how pleased I am that everything is looking so good for you.

bunny2 · 14/06/2004 09:45

quiet here, how is everyone?

Twinkie · 14/06/2004 10:28

Oooohhh we have now told DD and she is sooo excited - we went out for pizza express on Friday night and DP told her then - we had to stop her telling everyone in the place though!! - we haven't told her that its a boy thuogh - DP wanted to keep at least one surprise for her - but she sooo wants a sister I am getting a bit worried that she is going to be really disappointed!!

Mind you when we got home she started crying saying that if a baby is in my tummy where will my actual tummy go and all my food and stuff - goodness I thought she was going to say something serious!! Showed her baby book and she appeared to understand!!

Bunny am so glad that you have finally felt your baby - it is every so often - days go past in the beginning and you think - I must have imagined it but it will get more frequent as time goes on. Am sooooo pleased for you.

We booked our NCT classes a while back - DP wanted me to go to them so I have friends for when I have given up work - I have been to them before but now I live in a new area I would like to have at least a few people I know in the vicinity that also have babies!!

The midwife for some reason insisted that we also go to parentcraft classes which I also don't mind - the more the merrier!!

Twinkie · 14/06/2004 11:29

Oh if its a boy DD wants to call it Buzz!! (ala Buzz Lightyear!!)

For a girl she likes Patch - not sure where that one came from though!!

Samcj · 14/06/2004 13:19

Hi all, just about to go to by booking on app, so hopfully that will stop me asking you all my inane questions for a while!! Getting worried whether they will listen for the h/b, I'll worry if they don't and I worry if they do and can't find it!! Oh well, speak later. (Congratulations on buzz twinkie!!!)

bunny2 · 14/06/2004 19:10

Love the names Twinkie, so far ds has suggested Radiator and Baboon, dont think so sweetie!

bunny2 · 14/06/2004 19:11

Sam, how did the booking appt go? Hope it was all well and you heard the hb loud and clear.

Samcj · 14/06/2004 19:25

Hi, thanks bunny 2 it went fine, apart from the fact I nearly didn't get seen at all! Thank you for asking! I can't see skimming through the thread, have you had yours? Sorry I can't remember.
They messed up my appt, the midwife who was supposed to see me was away, but bless them they found a slightly harrassed but lovely midwife to see me. Can't believe how long it all took, very thorough. Hb loud and clear, she said it was a good strong heartbeat and (I thought) looked impressed, but now I'm away can't help thinking that's how I wanted her too look...! God hope I'm not one of those awful parents who thinks everyone should think their child is the most wonderful!! they are the worst! All in all though a happy lady and (small) bump!

Bronze · 15/06/2004 13:50

well we're all very quiet. Hope everyones well and I'm assuming theres no posting because theres not much news (as is the case with me) and cos the sun is still shining.
I'm off tomorrow to stay with a friend in scarborough for a week so pray the sun stays out. Hope everyone has a good week.
Bron

Samcj · 15/06/2004 14:50

Have a lovely time away Bronze.

bunny2 · 15/06/2004 19:11

Cheers Bron, have a good one.

Sam, yes I've had my booking appt and was also complimented on a good heartbeat . Really glad to hear yours was a good one too. Have you been feeling movements yet? We are both due around the same date and I am worrying about whether or not I have felt the baby kick yet. I have had a few rumblings but it could just be wind.

Samcj · 15/06/2004 22:04

I think so, seemed to feel something yesterday morning when I went to bed for a few hours before my scan. I didn't realise (!) how high up the baby is by now, and since they found the heartbeat I have been aware of some I think. Very light, nothing to feel on the outside and don't notice when I am busy. Quite reluctant about it all though, as awful as it sounds I've been sort of not paying any attention to flutterings, I would worry if it stopped! But there is definately something going on in there! But it is quite hard to be certain that what you are feeling isn't just wind, especially with my digestive system the way it is at the mo!

Is your due date still the same? I think mine is now officially the 23rd, my GP added on a few days as it was my first, but that seems like a bit of a crazy system to me. My scan shows the 23rd as well, so we'll go with that untill the next scan! Try not to get too worried about it all, (says she!)still little tiny baby at the moment!!

bunny2 · 15/06/2004 22:31

Hi Sam, my edd is 22 or 24th Nov depending on which scan I choose (I've had 8 of them). I read that if you eat chocolate and lie down, you arem ore likely to feel the baby move - what fab advice, chocolate and a rest love it!

Samcj · 15/06/2004 22:36

So if we average out the two, still basically the same as me!!

I heard (on another thread here) if you drink an iced drink and then lie down on your side the baby is likely move then too, but I think I prefer yours...!

gingernut · 15/06/2004 23:02

Hi all. Bronze, hope you have a good time in Scarborough and that you're feeling better.

I've finally had the results of my blood test for slapped cheek - no antibodies detected, so I don't have immunity. They want me to give another sample next week to see if I have made any antibodies over the last few weeks (which would indicate recent exposure and would mean I have to have extra scans). So now I have to wait another few weeks for those results! I'm not too worried about it any more since I don't think I caught it (have been in rude health really ) .

Had an antenatal appointment last week and heard the heartbeat loud and clear . Everything else was OK as well.

Sam, the NCT classes do get booked up. I booked on to mine when about 19 weeks last time and apparently that was leaving it a bit late. I went to parentcraft classes as well and made lots of friends at both. The NCT ones were more informative because we had more time but I was more interested in making friends so it didn't really matter to me (I had gleaned most of the info from books anyway). Did your m/w mention the parentcraft clases to you? If not, just ask her next time. One thing we did in NCT classes that was largely ignored in parentcraft was breathing techniques and positions for labour. OTOH, the parentcraft classes were run by an experienced m/w (NCT classes by a trained teacher but she wasn't a m/w so only had first hand experience of the 3 births of her children) and the m/w did mention a few points which I found very useful to know.

I'm off to try that chocolate and rest theory about feeling baby move. I'm feeling more movements now and they seem to be getting a bit stronger. In a few weeks time I'll probably be whinging about how much I'm getting kicked .

Mum2Ela · 16/06/2004 08:02

We are having a boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had our anomoly scan yesterday and there it was, clear to see! We are going to call him Luca. Really pleased!

Had a nightmare weekend though. Have never been in so much pain. Had terrible rib pain (I think where my ribs are moving to make way for my ever expanding uterus) and cried a lot. Could not get in one comfortable position. By Sat afternoon I was in agony so DH called our midwives (both had phones switched off - thought you were always meant to get one of them?) and then the ward at the hospital for advice, who told me to take gaviscon! Its not bloody heartburn!! Thankfully, by Monday it has subsided, but now am trying to catch up on sleep as I didn't sleep for 3 nights, spent most that time in the bath trying to be comfortable.

Bronze - have a fab holiday!
