Hi Lib, just popped on here to see if the little man had managed to put himselve in the right way to be born, he obviously did! CONGRATULATIONS! So pleased for you, must have your hands full by now!!
Good luck with your little one! So glad he came out quickly, look after your tear, a friend of mine had her baby in feb, her tear got infected, so be careful (Still hadn't been able to try for another when I spoke to her last if you see what I mean!!)
Have my scan on thurs, but thanks to everyones support, a relaxing holiday and a bout of abdo pain I'm now a lot more chilled - had to have a scan to check the cause of the abdo pain, my baby was having a little party!!
Lots of love and good wishes.
Sam xx

Hello everyone else left.
Im still here unfortunetly.
Had a bit of a fall in the garage yesterday. Decided that clearing all the rubbish seemed like a good idea at the time, but managed to fall onto a corner of a shelving unit. I was in hospital overnight for observation but everything looks ok. The trace showed that i'm having BH every 5 minutes but they've been like that for a few days so im not getting too excited. Saw the consultant on Friday who says im 1/5th engaged although my midwife says its 3/5's and I think I had my show on saturday. It was a bit like snot, as if I had blown my nose in a hanky( I think its the show anyway). Ive been getting a bit more each day since then. Apart from that nothing more to report, fed up now of going to bed each night and wondering is tonight the night!
Hope by the next time I log on someone else wouldve had their baby.

libb · 18/05/2004 19:46

Congratulations Vivat, you must be feeling relieved! Linnet and Egypt, your time will come - don't you worry! I found the beef curry in the freezer I was going to try on Thursday night earlier, it was weird coming home from hospital to find things lying around the house that were there before "Before Baby" - that sounds really lame . . .

Samcj, you are really sweet to come and find me! Please let me know how you get on with your scan, or have you had it? - I am sure it will all be fine. I will try and find which thread you are posting on. The stitches are fine to be honest, I was sat out cross legged out in the sun when the midwife turned up this morning so it can't be too bad - my relationship with the showerhead is starting to sour though! still, it'll be worth it if all stays well!

I am thinking of you all - hope Kbaby is also okay, she's been quiet recently. xxxxxx

Kayleigh · 18/05/2004 19:46

Vivat, congratulations honey !!
Don't usually look at the pregnancy threads but was wondering how you were doing and thought I'd look and see if you'd been posting lately. Absolutely perfect timing. Well done you. And welcome to the world baby Vivat

libb · 18/05/2004 19:47

Oh Kbaby, you made me jump! Glad you are okay

Egypt · 18/05/2004 21:06

CONGRATULATIONS VIVAT!!!! can't wait to hear all the details, sounds like it was so easy.

hiya kbaby - sorry to hear about your fall but glad all is ok. BH's are very misleading, i agree. Wish they'd stop or develop but they just linger. Have had them most of today and this evening.

Had a go on my Avent breast pump this afternoon, and i would say that definitely made the BHs frequent. I should try it girls...seems to be true what they say about nipple stimulation

shall go to bed again tonight thinking the same as you kbaby- is tonight the night....only to wake in morning and realise NO.

Linnet · 18/05/2004 21:23

Congratulations Vivat

Well, as you can see I'm still here, looks like the 18th is going to pass me by as well. Was talking to one of the mums at school today and she said, oh I see you still have some growing to do, should have seen her face when I told her that I was actually 5 days overdue.

I also go to bed every night thinking is this the night? I always lay everything out ready for dd for school in the morning just in case we have to rush off and my granny has to come look after her and every night I tell dd that I might not be there in the morning etc. She said to me tonight, I know mummy you tell me this every night. oh well she can't say I didn't warn her if the baby does arrive in the middle of the night, lol

binkie · 18/05/2004 21:56

Vivat (and family), congratulations! Lovely name, and looking forward to more details.

Kayleigh, thanks for tip-off!

redfiasco · 18/05/2004 22:47

Guess what?? Still here... Still huge!!
Am now 4 days overdue, thought I was really going to start last night, had a little "show" ( not sure, small amount of gunky stuff, sorry, gross, I know) and some regular serious stomach cramps, rang to warn my mum that dds could be staying with her, got very excited, then all of a sudden got an overwhelming feeling of tiredness, so decided to get some sleep while was able to. Big mistake, again, woke up, as before, NOTHING!!! So frustrating, have run out of clothes that decently cover bump and are summery enough for this weather were having.
Had hospital appointment today, declined a "sweep" as really didnt like idea. Have been booked in for an induction next Wednesday, and REALLY dont like that idea. Had both daughters with very little intervention, and would like dss birth to be similar!! So have until next Weds, have got raspberry tea, had a curry for tea, but think Ill give the diy sweep a miss!! But could change my mind next Tuesday if nothings happened.
Congratulations to new arrivals Well done to you.
Hope next time I`m on here will be more cheerful. And not pregnant!!

redfiasco · 18/05/2004 23:18

spots · 19/05/2004 18:09

Well done vivat and Polly! people called polly are always nice in my experience...

kbaby glad your fall didn't do anything bad, what a horrible thing to happen.

Linnet · 19/05/2004 18:28

Well, I'm still here!!! I'm not really surprised dd was 10 days late so this one probably will be too.

Still getting bits of show, phoned midwife today to ask her about it as I was a bit worried about the colour of it. Hasn't been pink tinged but been very strange thick yellowy/green colour sometimes so wanted to check that was ok, she said it was fine.

I now have a big dilema. If I don't go through the night and deliver I have to go to my overdue appointment tomorrow morning. They will probably give me an internal to see if I'm dialted I really don't want them to do this as I think they will probably give me a sweep at the same time and I really want to avoid a sweep. I will tell them this but after last time you never know they might give me one anyway.

Also they will want to give me an induction date. Usually, at my hospital they give you a date when you are around 10/11 days over. That takes me to next Sunday/Monday, they aren't likely to do inductions on a Sunday night though so it will probably be the Monday night. I would much rather not be induced at 10/11 days I'd rather wait and see if anything happens and then if I get to 14 days overdue then start to think about induction...but...My friend is going Abroad a week on Saturday to work for a whole month so if I haven't delivered before then she won't see the baby until she comes back at the end of June.

Such a dilema I don't want to be induced but at the same time I want my friend to see the baby before she goes away. Why is life so hard?

Had fresh pineapple today when dd got home from school, I hate pineapple but gave it a try anyway dd was laughing at the faces I was making. Also feel like having a curry for dinner tonight so that might help things along, who knows it's worth a try. Dh's boss phoned today to ask what shifts to put him on next week. She told me that dh and I are to have lots of sex tonight to see if that starts things off, LOL DH was not impressed by this suggestion especially from his boss, LOL

Well, going to go for now. Kbaby how are you feeling now? Will let you all know if anything exciting happens.

Egypt · 19/05/2004 18:49

Poor you Linnet. I wouldn't think they would give you a sweep if you strongly asked them not to. Sounds like you were unlucky last time and i'm sure its no often that that happens. you should also try and stick to your guns about the induction. ask them to monitor you past days 10/11 if they feel that you should be induced then. i would feel the same about my friend, but it's your baby/body/delivery and nothing should change what you want to do. your friend will totally understand and i am sure wouldnt want you to go against your wished just because of her.

We are having a curry tonight too! Love them. Had about 4 in the last week!

Bit heavy on the discharge front at the mo! (sorry) but hoping it could form into a show. you never know - something MIGHT happen to me oneday! Glad to hear that your show is nothing to be concerned about, linnet.

Having a sweep tomorrow. Cant believe really that its so soon, as i will be only 3 days overdue. but i dont mind. i really dont think it will have any effect whatsoever. in a way, if it does, i hope it will be AFTER tomorrow that things get moving anyway, as its our wedding anniversay, and i kind of want 20may to be just that. our anniversay will always take second place to baby's birthday if it is born on the same day. stupid i know. it is also dh's stepmum's bday and he hates her, so another reason not to!!!

curry's here!!

kbaby · 19/05/2004 19:06

Hi all.

Linnett Ive been getting the same type of discharge as you. I had a big blob of egg white on saturday and since then I seem to get a bit each day and like you sometimes it seems to been green( sorry I know tmi) Ive told DP that we have to have sex friday night he didnt look amused! and in desperation ill even try Egypts tip of swallowing not spitting
I cant face the hot curry though. I keep having visions of being in labour and pooing curry poo everywhere urrgghh.
As instructed by DP I have done nothing today apart from lie out the garden with a few magazines although there isnt anything left in the house that hasnt been washed and hung on the line. Hope everyones doing fine.
Good Luck for tomorrow Egypt. Im off now to get the breast pump out and do a bit of nipple stimulation though eastenders.

Egypt · 19/05/2004 21:55

lol at the curry!! i have the same visions at times - uughhh.

good luck with the nipple stimulation and when you go to bed - take a drink!

xx

madgirl · 19/05/2004 22:16

just crashing this thread to say well done to vivat and lovely name. madgirl x

Linnet · 19/05/2004 23:29

Well, I've had my chicken curry, just have to wait now and see if anything happens.

Egypt, I really don't want to hang on until I'm 14 days over to think about induction, really hoping that I go before then, but at the same time if my body isn't ready I don't want them inducing me too early. I think body might be almost ready though with this show that I'm getting, fingers crossed anyway. I'm going to ask them tomorrow about monitoring me because I disagree with the dates etc, I won't go into all that again I'm sure you're all fed up hearing about it.

Plus friends mum is throwing a going away buffet/party next Friday night and I really would like to go to it along with dd and new baby hopefully then everyone will see it. Plus the last episode of Friends is on next week and I can't possibly miss that! LOL

I know what you mean about the baby arriving on your anniversary Egypt. I worried all day Sunday that the baby would arrive as that was our 2nd anniversary. Everyone kept saying but it will be nice to share your anniversary with the babies birthday and I kept saying no it won't. I like my anniversary being just that MY anniversary the baby can have it's own birthday. LOL

I was 4 days over when I had my sweep last time, did absolutely nothing for me except give me niggly period pains from then until I went into labour properly, by which point I was exhausted as I hadn't slept properly for days. The dr didn't say he was going to do one last time he just said oh your 2cms and I've given you a sweep, I just lay there and thought wtf is a sweep? I was young and didn't know as much about pregnancy as I do now. This time nobody is going to boss me around!!! LOL

Egypt · 20/05/2004 07:51

good for you linnet. maybe having a sweep is the wrong thing for me...not q sure what to do really. mw is coming round at 1030 so will ask her about it all again - although she is coming round to do it and dh has taken morning off work. oh well, we'll see.

i remember now about your dates confusion, good thing to ask them to monitor you from now. sounds like you are close though with a show. STILL havent had anything

right, another day..............

SpringChicken · 20/05/2004 11:31

Egypt??? How did it go? Did you decide to have the sweep?

Linnet · 20/05/2004 12:00

How did it go Egypt?

Well, I had my appointment at the hospital this moring at 9.30am. I'm going to have a moan here feel free to skip bits if you want but I'll feel better once I've written it all down.
First talked to nice midwife who said that if I wanted the dr could do a sweep. I told her about last time and how I'm reluctant this time to have one done and she said it was totally up to me. She had a feel of baby and said that it's still head down with it's back on the left hand side which means it's moved as usually it's lying on the right hand side. I asked her if she could guess what weight she thinks the baby will be and then immediately wished I hadn't as she said "oh it seems about average probably about 8lbs!!!" OMG I really hope she was wrong and I told her that as well considering that my first baby was only 6lbs 9oz.

Dr came in and gave me a date for induction which is Sunday night. I've to go in at 5pm if I haven't had it before then. I'm really not happy about this as they take me in at 5pm and I get gel and the idea is that I go into labour during the night. But if the gel doesn't work, although she said it would, I asked what happens if it doesn't and she said oh we give you a drip with oxytocin which of course means continuous monitoring which is exactly what I want to avoid. She did say though that the fact that I'm having Bh's and a show probably means that I'll deliver before then. I've actually been quite upset about the whole induction thing as they put you in the general ward for that and my dh won't be allowed to stay with me he'll have to go away and then if I need him during the night they will phone him. But what if he doesn't hear the phone, aagghh.

I really don't want to go down the induction road but they don't do monitoring at my hospital you get a date for 10 days over and that is that.

Oh well hey ho I guess I'll just have to have more curry for dinner and see what happens. Got a spicy mexican sandwich for lunch so I might add some tobasco sauce to that see if it does anything, lol.

Will let you all know if anything happens. And looking forward to hearing what your midwife said to you Egypt. And Happy Anniversary, how long have you meen married?

SpringChicken · 20/05/2004 12:09

Linnet - I am not as far on as you yet obviously but this is also something i worry about if i have to be induced.
Although this is my first, i know my hospital operate in the same way as yours as this is what happened to a friend of mine.
She was taken in at 10.00 in the morning, her Dp was only allowed with her during visiting hours - he left at 8 that night and she started labouring at about 1am. She wasn't taken down to the delivery suite until about 4am and it was only then that her DP was rang and told to come to the hospital. Now knowing my DP he will sleep straight through the phone ringing - it is something that worries me. The thought of having to go through the early stages of labour on your own and partners only being contacted once you are moved to delivery - i think it is totally unfair.

I don't mean to make you feel worse but just wanted to let you know i understand exactly how you feel - Hopefully you will start before Sunday - i will keep my fingers crossed for you.
