hi vivat - well there's you, me, linnet, although she hasnt posted since thursay, bozza, kbaby, redfiasco and i think thats all!! sorry if i missed anybody.

redfiasco · 16/05/2004 06:56

Well, still here, still huge!!
On Friday night thought I was starting, had several hours of pains every 20 mins or so, I decided to see if I could get some sleep, as could be a long night. Woke up at 8 oclock next morning...nothing. DH had got up and done breakfast with DDs, as think he knew how frustrated I was going to be!!
Im starting to avoid the phone ringing, and mobile beeping, as I know its going to be people asking if anythings happened!! As if Im likely to keep it to myself!!
Have removed all loose covers already this morning and washed them, so now baby can wait for me to get them back on before showing up!! Being overdue has made me very bolshi!!
Congratulations to those with new arrivals, you lucky things.

vivat · 16/05/2004 08:11

what are you two doing up so early ?

I've had another night of period style cramps (that makes about 10 days of it now !) but nothing else. More acupuncture at lunchtime otherwise it's the dreaded induction tomorrow...boo hoo

Linnet · 16/05/2004 10:30

I'm still here. Very p*** off, nothing to wear temperature is soaring and today is my wedding anniversary. Not going anywhere because my dh won't take me out incase something happens while we're in a restaurant so I'm going to meet him from work at 12pm and we're going to go to Marks and Spencers and get something nice for dinner. Something will probably happen in M+S, lol

I get twinges now and then but I think they must be Braxton Hicks as nothing ever comes of them

Egypt · 16/05/2004 10:45

you three in total sound like me. was up early as very light and couldnt go back to sleep after achy hip and toilet trip! did go back at 6-ish and slept til 9.30 though, so feel fine.

I too get period style cramps every night and everynight i think - maybe....i know i'm not due til tomorrow, but a girl can dream. especially after that mw told me LAST saturday, i should have it in a day or two grrrrrrrrrrrrr. if i lie on my side in the evenings i also seem to get quite strong braxton hicks and backache..they were q strong last night but STILL didnt develop into anything, and like you, redfiasco, go to bed to hope to wake in agony in the night but wake up - nothing. cured.

is our anniversay on thursday, which is when i am having a sweep so we thought it may not be a good idea to go out for a meal!! so, had a lovely curry in the local curry house last night. dh only drank two pints, bless him, incase. he must be getting so so fed up. he's going to play golf this afternoon. BUT finally, it is a lovely day so i can read my book in the garden - although mustn't slouch back on the chairs because baby will more than likely never turn from posterior - GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Why????????????????????????? sorry, ramble!

Bozza · 16/05/2004 10:58

Well guys DD was born yesterday morning at 7.46 am. I am going to do a Birth Announcement thread in a minute but thought I'd let you know first. She is Caitlin Mary (Caity) and was 8 lb 12 oz.

Good luck to those of you still left BTW.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! wow bozza! I am shocked - that was quick. And a day early Lovely name xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Egypt · 16/05/2004 19:16

where are you all??????? coo-eeeee?

Have you all gone and had babies without me??

Its been a lovely day here. Sat in garden reading, had a few period pains - bloody things, they just trick you on purpose. Now feel very heavy in the groin region. Come on baby....tomorrow is your date....

I would like to place an order for a delivery like bozza's please - anyone know where i can get one?

And Twiglett - WE ARE TRYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Linnet · 16/05/2004 22:52

ok, I have found a saying that is more annoying than people saying to me "oh are you still here then?"

The most annoying saying ever, I have decided, is when you meet someone, like neighbour from across the road and they say..."I see your still here then, why are you still holding onto it?" AAGGHH this has happened today as you might have guessed.

I mean what am I supposed to say, "oh yes I know I thought I would be selfish and just keep baby inside me in this tremendously hot weather because I like being hot and uncomfortable and not having anything to wear etc. Now that you've pointed it out to me I'll just phone the babies mobile phone and point out that it's late and better get a move on!"

After typing all that I realise that Twiglett has asked us all what we're still waiting for, lol Sorry Twiglett this isn't a rant at you it's a rant at my mindless stupid neighbours who I don't like anyway asking stupid mindless questions.

Feeling a bit better now. So as you've all guessed I'm still here. Had a lovely day took dd to meet dh from work at 12pm and we wandered around town and bought a few things for dd then went to M+S and bought ourselves something nice to have for our anniversary dinner. Sausage and Mash, not very exciting but lovely all the same yummy mash with cabbage and spring onion in it, to die for in my opinion. Now having an anniversary glass of wine and going to do some stern talking to my bump to try and talk it into making an appearance.

How is everyone else getting on? Hope you're all well. I'm off to post some congratulations to Bozza now. Will check in again tomorrow see if there are any developments.

Egypt · 17/05/2004 08:21

morning all.
poor you linnet, i know just what you mean by the things people say. what are you SUPPOSED to do about it???? and i'm not even overdue yet. baby is due TODAY - so shall spend the time jumping up and down and rolling on my ball! want it to happen now.

vivat · 17/05/2004 12:25

well i'm now 10 days overdue - my due date seems a long, long time ago ! Went for a sweep this morning and was told that i'm 50% effaced, and 1cm dilated. So something is happening at least. Now booked in for induction on Wed if nothing happened before. Keep positive everyone

Egypt · 17/05/2004 18:29

good news that something is happening vivat. the sweep may do the trick as you have already started to dilate. good luck - thinking of you........where is kbaby? and redfiasco? think there is only us 4 left!

Egypt · 17/05/2004 19:17

cant believe i've just read this about a sweep!:

If your midwife explains the procedure to you and you don't much fancy it then why not do it yourself? If you squat on the loo you'll be able to reach but you won't hurt yourself because you'll be in control. It feels amazing to reach your cervix and feel the baby's head behind just nudging your fingers! I've also known a couple of partner's do the honours (much more gently than a midwife - more of a bit of inquisitive searching than an in depth examination), so don't feel that you have to rely on a midwife if you are already confident in your body.

NOT recommending it!!!!!!!!!!!!

also reading some funny stuff: how to get you started (dh would LOVE the second one!) best not mention it!

A brief summary of traditional DIY methods:

Exercise lots! Bouncing up and down...

Sex, but especially oral sex - the 'natural' (and gentle) prostaglandins in semen are absorbed more effectively through the gut than through the cervix... if you can face it! (more on this below!)

Hot curry

Reflexology often very effective, if you can get organised and find someone to do it quickly.

Failsafe method of inducing baby: arrange lots of things to do in the next week that you would really enjoy - massage, facial, hairdresser, etc..!! Even if it doesn't work, you'll have a nice time...

Nipple stimulation - apparently you really need to keep at it for at least an hour, and that one way is to get going with a breast pump while you're watching telly!

Linnet · 17/05/2004 19:51

Eeeww don't fancy trying doing my own sweep at all. And I don't think Dh would be all for it either, lol

Well, not wanting to get anybodies hopes up but I think I've been getting my show. Some lovely(not) gunky mucousy stuff as been appearing, sorry don't mean to be so gross. I haven't mentioned it to dh though as I know that you can have the show and nothing can happen for days so I'm waiting to see if anything else happens. Dh has gone off to work as usual none the wiser. Will let you all know if there are any more developments.

vivat · 17/05/2004 20:04

Linnet i've just had a show too - after my sweep this morning i've been having small ie uncomfortable contractions all day. I managed a sleep and went out for lunch so not too bad at all. Then my waters went at 6.30pm ish and i'm now getting stronger contractions. Looks like this baby is finally getting a move on !

Egypt · 17/05/2004 21:35

oh girls!!! so excited - you'll be next!! sorry linnet, i somehow missed you off my list earlier - 5 of us left not 4. you are on the list beside the computer though!

how did your waters go vivat? gush? trickle? where were you? tell all!

Linnet · 17/05/2004 21:58

Ooh viviat your news is much more exciting than mine.

Since posting my message there hasn't been anymore gunky stuff, lol I've jinxed my show, lol.

Dd and I were visitng my granny tonight and I was telling her about how the neighbour had said why are you holding on etc. When we were leaving I said see you tomorrow unless I need you through the night, she'll be coming to look after dd when I go to hospital you see. And what did granny say to me? She said "oh no don't go through the night I'd much rather you went during the day"!!! Hadn't I just finished explaining that I don't have much say in the matter? Honestly, lol

I've been having what I would call Braxton Hicks rather than contractions. They are round my middle not like period pains at all, which was what I had with first baby, They aren't very regular and they aren't sore so I'm assuming that they are only BH's. Maybe in the middle of the night I'll be woken by period type pains or waters breaking, here's hoping anyway.

Well, no more news for now so I'll go. Hoping to come back soon withmore exciting news. Good Luck Viviat if you see this.

Egypt · 17/05/2004 22:02

still sounds positive to me linnet - bet your waters go in the night

not that i know anything, thought i had a show 10 days ago now, remember?! yours definitely sounds like one. its prob all come out so thats why theres none since......says oh wise one

Egypt · 18/05/2004 08:41

well? any news??

Linnet · 18/05/2004 11:19

No, I'm still here

I realised last night that the braxton hicks were coming every 10 minutes but after a couple of hours they tailed off.

Was a lot more gunky stuff this morning when I first got up, sorry to be so graphic, but there hasn't been any since. I'm getting quite annoyed about it now as I had a good feeling about the 18th and thought maybe it would happen today, well there are still 13 hours of the 18th left so you never know but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Was reading in my pregnancy book that the show can happen as far in advance as 2 or 3 weeks before the birth, that really wasn't what I wanted to hear, lol. I didn't get a show last time so this is new to me but at least I know that it means something is happening, or at least it's thinking about happening.

No word from anyone else yet? I wonder if Viviat has had her baby yet, did she know if she was having a boy or a girl?

Well, going to go and find something to do, might defrost the freezer since it needs done and I've tidied everything else for the umpteenth time already. One thing I do know that is definitely going to happen today is that the chest of drawers for the baby's room is arriving, so that at least is one positive thing to look forwad to, I guess, lol.

Hope everyone is doing ok and I'll let you all know if there are any developments.

Egypt · 18/05/2004 12:46

at least you know, that although a show can come 2-3 weeks before delivery, you won't have to wait that long, being 5 days overdue already. i have a good feeling about the 18th too, as lots of things that are significant seem to happen in my life on the 18th. or at least they did! just a moment ago had quite a horrible strong pain shoot through my abdomen and it lasted for a few seconds. never felt that before, and ended up thinking, 'oh god, this isnt what a contraction feels like is it, because it really hurts'. then another came very soon after. then had massive urge to go to toilet!!!! realised that was what it was! i assume contractions feel like period pains and off course, accompany a tightening. only feel much more intense as time goes on. there is no shooting pain involved is there?? please tell me no!

fingers crossed for you today linnet. hope you are able to lap up the sunshine whilst you can.

not sure what vivat is expecting. she seems to be very quiet though, and i expect with her waters having broken, she is underway

spots · 18/05/2004 14:29

hello m'dears just taking the scene in on the home thread with baby in sling, she says hello... Hope you are all still feeling on top of things. It looks like it's one after the other right now eh? Great news from you Judd, hope oliver is thriving.

Egypt Idon't know about the turning thing. Like I mentioned beflore the fact that I'm tall seemed to make m/wives think it wouldn't be a prob, and after 8 hour labour it obviously wasn't... either that or I can offer you hope that it needn't slow things down too much. I can definitely give you good news about horrible stitches tho. |Don't know how libb's finding hers but mine surprisingly ok. And I hsad to ask 'did I tear' so whar our mums said about reduced blood supply obviously t rue - I hadn't known myself!

Libb.... 3 hours...! am speechless.

all well here but crazy feeder makes nipple hell. BF threads ahoy....

vivat · 18/05/2004 17:49

Polly Isabel born this morning at 3.45am after very short labour of about 3 hours (only 11 days late !). Didn't go the induction route and had totally natural delivery with just the TENS machine. Will post on birth announcements when i am able to string more of a sentence together ! Good luck to every else and looking forward to hearing your news.

GeorginaA · 18/05/2004 18:04
