Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

VQ - thanks honey, glad you replied as being an nurse, you're an expert. Headache is going slowly, being replaced with a mild sickness feeling. So i am going to take it easy today as I feel shattered, lacfk of sleep did not help. I do think I am coming down with something. I have had a few flashing lights in my vision earlier but gone now. Baby Dylan has been moving well. My feet and hands are not swollen, well my feet seem fatter but thats the biscuits. I will rest this morning and if I feel the same this afternoon, I will take your advice and nip into my GP to have my blood pressure checked. I keep thinking I have made an error when the midwife last week mentioned the flu jab and she was not keen on giving it to me so near to my due date. I have another appointment with the midwife in the morning. What you think about the flu jab so near to my due date?

ValiumQueen · 27/09/2012 12:21

LRM I am no expert, I am very deskilled unless you are an addict Grin Pregnancy can make everything that little bit more complicated, so always check with a MW or DR as nurses can only be reliable in their own speciality or field of experience. I am a bit concerned about the flashing lights. I have them too, so off to MW this afternoon for a check. Had them since weekend. No other symptoms apart from feeling fucked, and not in a good way!

I am going to ask advice about flu jab today as I have mine booked for 10days pre- section.. I think it is a live virus so they would not want you to have it too near delivery as it may leave you a bit under par. I will let you know what they say.

riversidelibrary · 27/09/2012 13:28

Hello ladies, can I join the thread?

I've been lurking for a while and found it very reassuring. I'm 42 and DS1 is due on 27th January, so I'm 22 weeks now.

We finally saw the consultant for the first time yesterday, he was happy with my progress, and he's passed my care back to the midwive until week 39, when he'll review and discuss options for week 40.

Congrats to Seaside Thanks, I hope little seaside gets the all clear to go home as soon as possible.

littlepinkfizz · 27/09/2012 14:20

Welcome babyseaside! How wonderful.

Sorry to hear about those headaches.. I agree, if it's out of character for you always contact your gp or mw. Take no chances with your precious cargo.

Just a question for all you mums to be. I am on cd 15 , normal cycle 28 days. Had mmc in July so this is my 2 nd cycle. Using opk but still no smiley although definite ewcm today. We Dtd last night but due to do erectile probs it may be fri or sat before we Dtd again.
So the question is , in your experience, am I too late or too early Dtd? Does ewcm mean I have ov or am about to.? Really desperate to know .

Thank you ladies Thanks

i had my private scan this morning - it was really worth the money. the risk was the same but it explained it - my scan results are literally perfect, but my blood results are close to the line, which is what i suspected. The net result is an ok, perfectly acceptable result.

even better, v good results for the other trisomys, which i didn't expect at all, so all in all very good value for money in reduced anxiety.

also some great pics and what definitely looks like a penis, although the sonographer assured me it could equally be a - ahem - clitoris.

seaside sorry i sort of forgot who you were - you disappeared for a while there. can't wait to hear more.

knotty i get apalling headaches during pregnancy but have never had a whisper of pre-eclampsia, high blood pressure or GD. I have taken loads of paracetomol but you mustn't take any other pain killer.

xxxx

littleredmonkey · 27/09/2012 14:30

VQ - Started to feel abit better, just knackered and have a very thick head and weak as a kitten. Let us know how you get on with the MW later. Nice bath and early night and fingers crossed I dont have to go to the loo 8 times like last night.

Hey welcome Riverside.

Hope everyone is dandy xx

somewherebecomingrain · 27/09/2012 14:37

oh god sorry not knottyhair i meant littleredmonkey. big sympathies - i get hideous migraineous days during PG and i know how you are feeling. technically just a headache but you can hardly get out of bed.
hope u feel better soon
xxx

ValiumQueen · 27/09/2012 15:23

LRM my BP is low apparently. Everything else fine, but told to rest more. She said they positively encourage me to have flu jag. I would ask your MW again. I would encourage you to have it if they are happy for you to do so. Hope you soon feel better x

ValiumQueen · 27/09/2012 15:25

littlepink the conception thread would probably be better for such technical questions. We only DTD once in Feb, and were not actively trying.

eagleray · 27/09/2012 23:21

Evening and welcome to RiversideLibrary - we are pretty close together in terms of age, experience and gestation!

LRM - sorry to hear you have been feeling rough - I have had a couple of terrible headaches during this pregnancy and found it quite scary not having access to the usual drugs. I hope you get some good quality sleep tonight without too many to-ings and fro-ing to the loo (I have been extraordinarily lucky on that count so far - perhaps I am not drinking enough...)

Littlepinkfizz - I was never very good at the highly detailed technical side of ovulation monitoring. All I know is the month it worked, all the monitoring/plans went out of the window as we were abroad on holiday (we were in the jungle and it was too bloody dark to see the stupid ov sticks I got off the web, and then I started bleeding mysteriously and thought oh I really give up now) and then 2 weeks later I got a bit of a surprise. Sorry this isn't a particularly helpful story, but I am proof that throwing all the plans out the window sometimes works (oh and there was some Conceive Plus thrown in there too)

Somewhere - great to see all is well with your scan

It is now gone 11pm, I am whacked and full of cold and tonight is my last night for packing for this holiday as have to take my luggage to work first thing tomorrow, then onwards to airport! I have everything in a pile on the bed - just need to try and get it into a bag. I have an embarrassing amount of crap, given I am supposed to be relaxing - inflatable pool lounger (sadly no room to take the sit and ride inflatable crocodile as well), SLR camera and 3 lenses collectively weighing about a ton, altimeter watch, ipad, mask/snorkel and far more clothes than I could need which may not even fit me.

Anyway, it is nice and hot/sunny out there, and I am going to look like Ursula Andress in my La Redoute maternity bikini, no?

Have a lovely week y'all and good luck for those who are imminent and get well soon to those who feel rough. I will hopefully check in from time to time from the comfort of my hammock x

somewherebecomingrain · 28/09/2012 06:01

Ooh have a lovely time eagle

Hpbp · 28/09/2012 07:41

Eagleray, you sound very happy about these holdays, have a wonderful time in your hammock !

knickyknocks · 28/09/2012 08:40

eagle have a wonderful holiday! Loving the thought of you checking in from the comfort of a hammock in sunnier climes. Perfect.
somewhere lovely news about the scan, so glad to hear it's relieved a bit of the anxiety. Everything is as it should be.
riverside welcome and congratulations! You're over half way through!!
lrm poor you, sounds like you're having a rough time, though good to hear you're feeling a little better.

I also have fairly low blood pressure so usually have dizzy spells on waking. It gets particularly bad when I haven't had quality sleep. Talking of which, I think my pregnancy hormones are having an effect on my sleep patterns, with a touch of insomnia going on. Had restless legs for a lot of last night. Yuck. Hope this phase passes soon! I just really don't like pregnancy. Does that sound awful? I always wish I was one of those ladies who bloom - but find pregnancy as something not to enjoy but to endure. Sad

Midgetm · 28/09/2012 11:06

Ursula oops sorry I mean eagerlay have a cracking time. Alas my window for holidays has passed and I can but dream but I hope you have a lovely relaxing and stress free time. Hope you shake the cold.

I'm another one with low BP. Which is ironic seeing as last pregnancy it shot through the roof. Not really caused me any problems so far as it tends to be a little on the higher side when pregnant so hope it stays that way.

Littlepink I am also not much cop on advice with ovulation sticks - only dabbled with them and never really trusted them much - I kind of know when I am ovulating because I feel horny as hell and I get a strange pain/feeling and my CM is different - I trust these signs more than the sticks. I also get knocked up at the drop of a hat and have been pregnant over 12 times if you count all the chemicals too. It is getting them to stick that is my issue.

LRM hope the headache has passed - if not please go get checked out. Just for me? You know I do like to worry about you.

Welcome Riverside it's a nice cosy safe place for old birds here - you are more than welcome to join us.

Somewhere Glad you got some reassurance from the scan - now to enjoy the brief bit of peace this gives you and then get on to worrying about the next one.....

I have the day off (hurray) but have to plan for DD's party tomorrow (boo). Don't know what possessed me but we are having a huge party tomorrow (25 kids) and I am the size of a baby elephant. What the hell was I thinking? Managed to keep heartburn at bay but think it may have got me - oh well the longest I have to go is 2 weeks so I should consider myself lucky.

Fjord Hope your wrist is feeling better - that you do not need.

Right best go and freak out about entertaining 4&5 year olds and guzzle some gaviscon. Big love to you all.

littlepinkfizz · 28/09/2012 13:43

Thanks midgetm, eagerly and valium. Already have 4 dc but desperate for sibling for ds19 mths. Remember with last mmc and ds we seemed to Dtd at end of fertile days on the conception calculator and managed to get pregnant.

Hope all your lovely bumps are doing well and I would love to join you soon x

littleredmonkey · 28/09/2012 16:06

Midget - Hey honey thanks for worrying about me, I am headache free today thank god. Baby Dylan kept me awake for hours having his own personal game of footie last night. Hope you hav had a good day chilling before the party. Look forward to hearing how you get on. Bloody good excuse to have some party food hahah . You will need the sugar honey to power through.

valium - Hope your are resting twinkle xx

Fjord - How you doing ? Has the thrush cleared up? Not long till Monday !

Eagle- Hey you make sure you have a fab time on holiday and get a brown bump.

Knicky - How ya doing today honey, dizzy spells suck I had them the midwife told me to have more orange juice and broccoli . lack of sleep was the same with me, I realised I had to take more time doing things and also saying no at work and not over doing it. Easier said then done I know.

Been to the midwife today and all ok with baby Dylan, had the flu jab. We had a chat about whooping cough and she checked with the nurse and they didnt have any vaccine in the surgery and would have to wait till Monday. I rang the hospital and Lincolnshire trust does not have any vaccine till next week. Any one else been discussing the vaccine with your midwife or hopsitals ?

ValiumQueen · 28/09/2012 16:32

LRM I am having to wait until 15th Oct for flu jag, and my GP knows nothing of the whooping cough vaccination programme. I am awaiting a callback from occy health as they have both, and I want them ASAP!

My dad used to call me twinkle toes as a kid Smile I am trying to rest, but not easy with a crazy 2yo who is not well, and has been up the last two nights!

clickingtock · 28/09/2012 18:46

Hello everyone - can't keep up with you all!

Have a great hol Eagle.

Knicky - hope the dizziness goes. I'm struggling with sleep patterns too. Not sure how to fix this one. Fx it gets better eh?

VQ hope you get a better night too. My DS has decided to challenge bedtime and gets up on the dot at 6.15 whatever time you put him to bed. Better than 5am I guess!

TTFN for now - DS want a playmate.

somewherebecomingrain · 29/09/2012 07:57

I know clicking i can't keep up either!

knicky I can relate big time. After the high of the private scan it's just back to feeling like pregnancy is a gruelling endurance test. I know I am very lucky and don't feel proud for feeling this way. But I just don't enjoy it. Pretty tough once the baby comes but you have a baby to gurgle at you which is just beyond compensation. in PG it's all waiting!!!!

lrm glad your headaches are getting better.

fjord i am concentrating my baby brain and doing the math... it's two days to go?!?!?! i'm wishing you a calm/thrilling delivery (you know, the right balance of calm and thrilling cause it's never going to be totally calm) and lovely scando baby bliss.

midget good luck with the party - you're either a crazy loon or just very competent - i suspect it's the latter.

in a whisper - my MS is getting better. felt intermittent waves of biliousness yesterday but not continuous drilling nearly-wretchingness. it's allowing me to fully appreciate how grumpy and oversensitive i feel. hurrah.

xxxx

riversidelibrary · 29/09/2012 08:54

Thank you all for the lovely welcome!

Went to DP's work do last night and we didn't get back until after midnight, exhausted this morning, but LO's gentle kicks have put a big smile on my face.

somewhere thanks for adding me to the list and very happy your scan was so positive.

eagleray we are very similar in history and EDD, it'll be good comparing how we are doing Smile

Right, need to find some energy and get ready to go out, it's my hen party today, wedding in four weeks!

eagleray · 29/09/2012 15:09

Big sunny hello from fat lady sat under bougainvillea tree!

Bit of a pain to get here as had to leave house at 2am for airport and not slept since then but it is so nice to have a break at last and not have to do much. Hotel is v small, more like a private house and there's a lovely pool which I have been bobbing around in all afternoon (trying v hard not to scare the guests with my un-ursula-like figure)

There is wifi here too so can spend all day buying crap off eBay for the baby between swims Smile

Hope you are all doing ok wherever you are and wish you were all here sat under these blue skies too

riverside - congrats on your upcoming wedding!

littleredmonkey · 29/09/2012 15:45

Eaglray - SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous right now the only sun I have is coming through my bedroom window so taken 40 winks me and my kitty. Outside is a tad chilly. Hello autumn. Enjoy your holiday honey and relax and may your ebay shopping be a success.

Riverside - Happy Hen do xx

Well been up since 5 drinking decaf tea, partner joined me so really knackered now. friends and family have all put days down for when they think baby Dylan will arrive, mine was today I know my due date is next week but felt right 4 weeks ago, partners was yesterday and I have a chum in Florida at the moment who is flying back Sunday and keeps texting to see if any twings as she is Monday.

knottyhair · 29/09/2012 16:06

Seem to feel better today, have been into town with DS to meet my parents for lunch and bought a baby outfit for my friend's baby boy, born on Wednesday Smile.

firstbubba · 29/09/2012 17:22
