Yes I have finally started this thread. A bit apprehensive though as I'm still getting period pains.

I have worked out that baby number 2 should be due on 7 August.

Anyone else joining me??

just popping in from July- hope all went well Dinosaur- mgx

dinny · 19/03/2004 09:48

Thanks, M2T - thought I could remember reading something like that on a thread. I've just had a couple and it was when I'd been lugging heavy dd1 around around more than usual. What can you do though, hey? I never got them the first time so didn't know what they feel like. Are they a sign of overdoing it? Thanks for the reassurance. Dinny x

M2T · 19/03/2004 09:48

Oh yes Dino - How did it go?????

Dinny - Apparently they can be a sign that you are overdoing it. But I know what it's like when you've got a toddler too. Just make sur eyou get loads of time in the evening to sit and relax.

I had my scan - and it was great!

The technology seems to have improved even more in the the three years since I had DS2 - it was really clear! We saw Freddie drinking (!), waving his/her hand in front of face and kicking legs. The legs and feet look beautiful - no sign of talipes (clubfeet) which is great. She couldn't see any problems with anything else, measurements are all okay for 20 weeks etc. We did say we didn't want to know the sex but I am pretty sure I saw a little willy waving about - so I reckon it's another boy! Can I cope with four males in the house - outnumbered or what - and I will never ever find the loo seat down. Oh well, I guess I can live with that. Anyway, I'm on a real high now, so love to everyone and hope you all have a good weekend.

Love

Dinosaur

Great News Dino. Another Boy!! I have a feeling this is a boy too...

Do you think you'll keep trying until you get a girl?

sibble · 19/03/2004 19:23

glad everything went well dinosaur, know what you mean about the technology, my scan was amazing. I don't think there was a bit of his anatomy she didn't look at and point out, down to the lips, nostrils, all the heart chambers and vessels, everything. so reassuring.
i spoke with my midwife last week about braxton hicks and she also said to take it more easy!!! 1 a day is fine but more than 3 to go straight to the hospital.
Am going back to work on Tuesday, just 15 hours/week. Will be sitting at a desk/computer all day so figured is the same as sitting in front of the TV all day and can't ignore the housework, shopping, cooking etc when at home but if am working DH will have to help more. Am quite looking forward to it as miss adult company and any company when DS at nursery. Am going to work at an hourly rate so if need to go home or can't make it in, I don't have to take time sick and feel bad.
Have good weekends all.

madgirl · 20/03/2004 10:06

logged in v quickly to see how it went, vv glad to see the good news, have a good w/end mg x

Hi all, just got back from a week away so catching up on all the news.
Have been skiing and now my bump feels quite sore. Not sure if the two are related but am trying to take it very easy now, although not so easy with a 31.2 year old to take care of.

Had my scan just before we went. All looked fine and it seems we're having a boy (have a dd already). Dh was incredibly disappointed at first - wanted another girl - but is getting used to the idea now.

Many congrats on your news MT2. Fantastic to know that putting up a fight sometimes works!

Dino, consider the under the bump route - most are dreadful but I have a great pair of jeans which have a strong jersey band, about 4cm, which sits across the bottom of the bump. They're really comfortable and give some support too. I thought I'd be OK with my maternity stuff from last time round but although I'm pretty big already all my old stuff is still really baggy - it must stretch with you more than you realise.

Morning All,

20wks + 3 today! Glad all is going well.

Sibble - More than 3 what? Barxton Hicks? I thought you got them regularly all through pregnancy. I definitely get more than 3 a day.... is that bad?

Sponge - LOL... a 31.2 yr old to look after? Me too..... he's at home painting a door as we speak.

Hope everyone is great. I feel really good just now, apart from the aching pelvis. I've got my scan this Wednesday then my Physio appointment on Friday. A busy week! Hope you all had a fab Mothers Day.

I have more than 3 a day, too. Was worried last week, but they have decreased now. Guess I shopuld mention it to mw on Fri, but she usually says to take it easy, yeah right!! With a 3 yo!!!

dinny · 22/03/2004 10:44

Hello, sneaking on here again! I feel so full and insides all kind of twisted up in middle of night last night (17 wks). Anyone know what I mean?

dinosaur · 22/03/2004 11:08

Hi everyone!

M2T - really good to hear you sounding happy. I don't know what it is about hitting twenty weeks, but I have felt like a new woman since I got to that particular watershed.

I had a lovely Mother's Day thanks - my boys (incuding DH!) seem particularly scrummy and gorgeous at the moment.

Hi Podmog

What about hiring a doula - she could help you sort all this out? I'm hiring a doula for this birth.

I am paying £300 which I think is fairly standard. I contacted Pupuce through Contact another talker and she posted me a link to the doulas UK website. I will see if I can find it, and if I can I will post a link on here.

dinosaur · 22/03/2004 12:30

here

M2T · 22/03/2004 13:16

Hi Dino - Yeah I'm feeling much better since hitting 20wks too.... I have been getting those sore BH again, so had to take some painkillers on Saturday. But apart from the aches and pains I'm fine! Emotionally I'm feeling strong and DH is seeming quite delicious too!! Must be the hormones eh?

Podmog - In our area we are put into teams consisting of around 10-12 midwives, so I find it hard to tell which ones I've seen and which I haven't. I had never met the MW who delivered ds until I was in labour! I would so like to have to opportunity to strike up a relationship with the MW who will deliver this baby, but the 'team' system makes it hard.

The idea of a Doula sounds great, but it is a lot of money.

Dino - What do you get (as such) for £300?

Oh sorry Podmog - I should have been more thoughtful before I went gaily recommending a doula.

Hope I haven't caused any offence.

hello everyone

i've been away for awhile, so aven't been able to update on my pregnancy. i am now 19+1 weeks.

i had the baby's heartbeat checked last week and it was absolutely fine. it was very difficult for the mw to check the heartbeat as it kept kicking itself away.

i have got my anomaly scan on the 29th of march. i hope everything goes well.

sweetkitty · 22/03/2004 20:49

hi everyone just back from my hen weekend had a very good (if sober) weekend. Had every man and his dog touching and assessing my bump to see if it's a girl or boy, funny thing is each person had a different view about the out front versus roudn the middle, lucky I know there's not truth in it. Oh and apparently my mum has been told it is illegal for me to fly at 27 weeks, so I may be arrested before I get to New York!!! I was killing myself laughing when she told me. I'll save some of her other gems for later on (oh she's the only person I know thats had an epidural in her leg - she swears on this)!
