M2T · 30/11/2003 22:22

Yes I have finally started this thread. A bit apprehensive though as I'm still getting period pains.

I have worked out that baby number 2 should be due on 7 August.

Anyone else joining me??

Hi SK and Dino.

SK - Could you speak to your GP on the phone? My surgery sounds like yours, but now they do telephone appointments! (whatever next??). You can phone and make and appointment to phone back to speak to a GP!! If you manage to speak to one on the phone tell them you are in agony and need a referral to a phsyiotherapist. There is nothing really your GP can do other than refer you. HTH.

I have my scan a week on Monday. Can't wait, but like you Dino I am incredibly nervous!! Are you finding out the sex? I am, hopefully.

dinosaur · 12/03/2004 11:59

Not planning to find out the sex, no. Just don't want to this time.

sweetkitty · 12/03/2004 14:07

Thanks for the advice m2t I know it seems silly to have to go there for a whole appointment just for a referral.

I've got to wait until April for my scan, DP announced that Tuesday is a very busy day at work and we're already on holiday that Monday so his boss might not want him to have some more time off! Not that the scan important or anything.

We are finding out the sex because we are both dying to know and I am so impatient I want to know now. I want it to be our little secret but I think DP will tell everyone.

dinny · 12/03/2004 14:10

Thought I'd say hello to you all on this thread (well, dd was a month early so I may well be an August mummy). My September thread has gone v quiet. How is everyone? Dinny x

dinosaur · 15/03/2004 10:07

Hi dinny! This thread's quite quiet too at the moment. Hope no news is good news for everybody.

I am cross at the moment because I have just splashed out on two pairs of Next maternity trousers. They are meant to fit over the bump (can't be doing with these under the bump things) and have an adjustable elastic bit at the back. Trouble is, even with the elastic bit adjusted to take in the trousers as much as possible, they are still too big and keep sliding down. Fine when you're only sitting about the house, not so good when running for the bus with DS1 and DS2!

Spent most of Saturday morning climbing around an indoor play centre with DS2, wondering whether this was really the correct exercise for a twenty weeks pg mother of two who's pushing forty...

sweetkitty · 15/03/2004 10:52

wow dino I have exactly the same problem, I bet we bought the same trousers from Next. I've been keeping mine up with safety pins but they keep falling down, not a good look around the office.

Got a hen weekend this weekend coming in Scotland for BFs wedding (where I am bridesmaid as well!) Managed to get a decent going out top from Oasis size 14 that isn't too big at the shoulders etc. Tried on my big Size 12 trousers and got no chance of wearing them on Saturday. So I'm going to try a size 14 and if that fails it will be up Oxford Street to Mothercare for me. I don't think I can handle the falling down Next ones on a night out!

dinosaur · 15/03/2004 11:00

As well as the falling down trousers, I also have the black jersey trousers from Next and they are brilliant, although maybe not what you would wear for a night out (I wear black trousers everywhere, but I know they're not everyone's cup of tea!).

sweetkitty · 15/03/2004 16:22

Don't have black jersey ones though - I tend to keep away from jersey type things get too many cat hairs on them.

dinosaur · 16/03/2004 11:08

Morning everyone!

I'm feeling very cheerful today, mainly because the horrible acne on my chin is finally clearing up - hooray hooray.

Getting lots of kicks now as well, which is lovely. I'm really savouring them because I know that this will be the last time.

Scan on Friday - nervous nervous nervous....

M2T · 16/03/2004 14:19

A VICTORY!! I WON I WON I WON! I got a letter from and MP ......
I will now be going for a 20wk anomaly scan courtesy of the NHS.
The private scan for Monday has been cancelled (saving my £140!) and my NHS scan will be on Wednesday 24th March.

How is everyone? Apart from heartburn I am okay. Had a horrible dream last night though about the baby.

OP posts:
dinosaur · 16/03/2004 14:21

That's such good news M2T! Hurray hurray hurray!

Sorry to hear about the heartburn. I am taking fish oil supplements (good for the brain, apparently) - I have one with my main meal at night, and twenty minutes later I start getting these revolting anchovy-flavoured burps - horrible. The wretched things better be doing some good, that's all I can say.

dinosaur · 16/03/2004 14:23

Oh, and don't worry about the horrible dream - I've had really vivid and sometimes unpleasant dreams each time - when I was pregnant with DS1 I dreamt that he was born and then I put him back again, ifswim, and with DS2 I dreamt that I was breastfeeding a little pig (not so far wrong, as it turned out, he was a very greeder feeder)...

M2T · 16/03/2004 15:56

I dreamt I had my scan and then the MW phoned me at home to say the baby was a boy and only had 1% chance of survival once born.

Anyway.... enough of this morbid talk! You heard the heartbeat Podmog! Wahey! It's so lovely isn't it??

I'm getting loads of kicks daily to reassure me that baby is doing fine. Can't wait for my scan.

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 16/03/2004 16:33

great news m2t!!!

dino what did you use to clear up your acne? I have it bad on my back now (usually only Dianette (the pill) clears it up).

Wearing strapless bridesmaid dress in a few weeks and don't fancy showing off my spotty back!

Wish I was getting some kicks, think I might be getting flutters but don't know!

dinosaur · 16/03/2004 16:43

sweetkitty - nothing worked, it just seems to be that now I have got to the second half of the pregnancy, my skin is improving. I did get some lotion from the doctor but that was hideous, it just felt like it was burning my skin.

sweetkitty · 16/03/2004 16:45

thanks dino

Hopefully mine might improve a bit only thing that works is sunlight and Dianette. Could be a lot lot worse than a few spots on my back so I should quit moaning, I'll be back on the pill after bubs is born anyway.

sibble · 16/03/2004 19:16

congrats M2T.
I had my scan yesterday and baby appeared well, didn't realise how uptight I was about it until it was all over, with the bleeding and being so ill, but all looks well. Knew he was active as can feel movement all the time but he wouldn't keep still. Yep, looks like baby is a boy. We would have liked a girl as already have DS and am definately not doing this again but am just glad he appears to be healthy. Anyway he may turn out to be gay and still want to come shopping, for lunch and live with me forever!!! Will just have to really learn about football and rugby now....
I used a face mud pack on my hideous spotty backa nd whether it was a coincidence or not it cleared up, maybe give it a try, just bought a single pack from the chemist.
Am probably going back to work next week for 15 hours/week for some extra moeny as am feeling better and looking forward to some adult company.
Hope everybody elses scans go well.

sweetkitty · 16/03/2004 22:30

Phoned my mum to tell her about NY and Dp's new job, seems everything I tell her she has to find fault with and relate it back to her experience of child birth. She says I shouldn't be flying as any bump could start me off at 7 months as thats a critical time and she fell down the stairs hence me at 29 weeks. I said that was 30 years ago and was probably due to you smoking during your pregnancy than anything else. She drives me insane does she think I would put my babies health at risk ever? Not like she would have won any parenting awards as it was.

Right stop moaning, glad to hear everything is going well sibble!

sweetkitty · 17/03/2004 22:07

me again not going to rant this evening

20 weeks today half way there! I think bump is growing by the day now although Next maternity trousers still falling down.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

dinosaur · 18/03/2004 10:37

sweetkitty, sympathies about the trousers!

I wore my other new Next maternity trousers yesterday - the neutral combat trousers with the embroidery on the legs - and for some reason the waistband is much more adjustable on them than on the other trousers so I was able to make them tight enough to stay up.

Unfortunately have got the JojoMamanBebe catalogue now - lots of lovely clothes but expensive! However I am going to buy myself one nice dress - we are going to a wedding in May so I need something to wear for that after all - and I can then wear it to work in June if it's really hot then.

dinosaur · 18/03/2004 10:40

sibble - glad the scan went well - don't be too disappointed about it not being a girl - I have two boys and it's lovely! My DS1 has always liked make-up and shopping and my DS2 loves food and cooking, so all is not lost!

Mine tomorrow - yikes! I am confidently expecting talipes (DS2 has talipes) but as long as there's not anything worse...oh mustn't think like this!

sweetkitty · 18/03/2004 13:30

bought a pair of black non maternity trousers yeaterday in a size 14 for my night out on saturday think I might get a good few weeks use out of them after taht as well, so much for not buying many clothes!

dino - what is talipes???

dinny · 19/03/2004 09:16

Well done on your victory, M2T!

I think I remember you talking about early Braxton Hicks on a thread somewhere - I think may have had a couple but am worried it's too early (16 weeks). Any comments? Thanks Dinny

M2T · 19/03/2004 09:41

Hi Dinny - I had them from 15wks and they were so bad I phoned the hospital. I spoke to my GP and a MW who both seemed totally unconcerned by it. I was advised to take some paracetamol and listen to my body telling to take it easier. It was the warning I needed and haven't felt any BH now for a few weeks.
They told me not to get concerned unless I bled or they got stronger and longer (real contractions).

So get your feet up and take some painkillers....
