Yes I have finally started this thread. A bit apprehensive though as I'm still getting period pains.

I have worked out that baby number 2 should be due on 7 August.

Anyone else joining me??

Thought I'd pop in say congrats, and explain due dates.

Due date are 40 weeks from frist day of last AF. BUT before you get carried away, this assumes a 28 day (4 weeks) cycle. So if you cycle is longer than that you need adjust the due date for this. So if you have a 5 week cycle you add 41 weeks, 6 week cycle add 42 etc.

An alternative if you know when you ovulated add 38 weeks to it.

Sorry for numbers but am an accountant......I'll stop before I bore you more

SpringChicken · 02/12/2003 15:27

Sorry to jump in - Pollingfold, maybe you can help me then.

My lmp was 30th September - cycles we not regular - between 28 & 38 days - i know that i conceived on either 12th, 16th or 19th of October - when am i due?

I worked it out as 6th July without taking irregular cycles into account, doc worked it out as 9th July but nidwife thinks i could b further on than i think.

pollingfold · 02/12/2003 16:37

Spingchicken

By my calcs, assuming you conceived the on the 12th your due date would be the 4th July. But EDD are just that - estimates. In France they use 41 weeks from LMP (if normal 4 week cycle), this is especially relevant for first timers.

All this really does tell you is when the baby MIGHT make its entry into the big wide world.
My DS was 2 weeks late, other friends have had theirs 2 weeks early. Doctors take a week either side of the EDD as "normal". I only know one person who arrived on their due date of the many people I know with kids.

As long as they come out in the end, healthy and happy and with the minimal amount of pain thats all you really need to care about.

I haven't Dino. Basically for the fact that I don't think I can get time off work for a booking appointment until after Christmas. I contacted them at 6 wks last time. I think the important thing in the early weeks is to take Iron and Folic Acid supplements.

I was taking Folic acid anyway so have just carried on. I have loads of Pregaday Iron/Folic acid tablets from when I was pg with ds.... d'you think they will be okay to take?

well, although my last period started about 7 weeks ago - we had unprotected sex on the day my period was due (8th november) and then the day after i got the mucusy stuff which suggests to me i ovulated then. so by my reckoning i'm only 5 weeks pregnant - does that make me due in august then??? can i be in your gang?

by the way what does AF stand for???

oh and ds1 is 4 in march. (i'll have 3 under 4 and a bit! aargh). plus have whinged on another thread already, but may try and get the sympathy vote here too - have had a prolapse after ds2 and recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism! must say on the positive side though, no sickness yet which i was plagued with so very very early with my other two.

M2T · 03/12/2003 12:29

Percy you are confusing me. (easy to do!! )

If your last period starting 7 weeks ago then how could you be due another one on 8th November?? That would mean you have a cycle of about 2 weeks!

When was the first day that you bled? It will be counted from the 1st day of your last AF (Aunty Flo..... or period ).

If you are 5 weeks now then your last AF must've started around the week commencing 27th October?

Or am I losing the plot?

I am just BURSTING to tell people!!!! I've told a few, like all you lot.... and My Mum. And a couple of friends who I was supposed to be drinking with this weekend.... BUT I WANT TO TELL THE WORLD!

I told everyone when I was 5 wks with ds! Then again I didn't realise all the things that can go wrong..... ignorance is bliss in this case.

Ignorance IS bliss M2T, I know too much know. I hadn;t a clue with DD whatsoever!! Besy way!

percy · 03/12/2003 15:14

ok diary is out - last AP started on 14th October - had unprotected sex on 8th November and I think I ovulated on the next day hence pregnancy. so basically what i am saying is i had a very long cycle and ovulated very late. i'm confusing myself now!

M2T · 03/12/2003 15:21

Percy - Thats a tough one!! If they take it from your last AF then you are 7wks pg. If they take it as 38 wks from ovulation then you are 5.5 wks! So you might still be in the August thread. Coz your cycle is irregular you probably wont get the exact date until they give you a scan. SO you might get one quite soon so they can date you!

I have to wait until 12 weeks pg which is the end of January!! Grrrrroan.

Hi everybody. Am dipping my toe into this thread as very early days - if all goes to plan will be due 11th August. Still have a pain on my left side and mild period pains but nausea +++ which I guess is a good sign(!!). Now I know why I have been feeling sick and tired the past few days - thought I was coming down with flu. you would have thought after trying for so long i would have guessed but had really convinced myself that there was no way on earth I could be pregnant this month..
Anyway I don't know anybody born in August at all - what are they meant to be like?

we are actually going away on saturday for 3.5 weeks - do you think i should try and get a scan before hand or not bother? also i'm hoping they won't want to book me in before i get back, as i won't know about it... maybe i should call the antenatal team?

M2T · 04/12/2003 15:51

Congrats Sibble. I'm still getting mild cramps too. I don't have sore boobs yet which is worrying me.

Percy - I would definitely phone the,! If there is a debate about your dates they will probably want to give you a scan asap.

I'm having a dilemma..... I just realised looking back in my diary that my last AF was extremely light and only 2 days long!!! Normally like a torrent (nice!) for 2 days then lasts another 3 days after that.
WHAT IF I HAVE MY DATES WRONG??? Perhaps this wasn't a period at all. That would explain why I got a Positive pg test 5 days before I was due!??

Could it be possible that I'm 9wks instead of 5wks????

MUM2ELA · 04/12/2003 16:04

Blimy M2T!!

Could well be!! Thats what happened to me, thought I had a period but it was actually just a withdrawal bleed from pill, which is how I got pregnant the month before we spent the whole on January shagging like bunnies!

Am getting even more excited for you by the minute!

So you may well be on the wrong thread . .(says she who isn't even pregnant!)

M2T · 04/12/2003 16:08

lol Mum2ela!

I'm kinda hoping I'm only 5 weeks as it'll mean an extra months wages at work! However, if there is doubt with my dates I might get a scan early! And that would really put my mind at rest.

Anyone else feeling really bloated and constipated?? I am getting horrible trapped wind pains....

OP posts:
quackers · 04/12/2003 16:55

M2T, you could be 2 weeks inot your pg longer. Loads of people have this and mistake an implantation bleed for AF!!!!!! Only a scan will tell you as you say!!
Well done Sibble again!
