Yes I have finally started this thread. A bit apprehensive though as I'm still getting period pains.

I have worked out that baby number 2 should be due on 7 August.

Anyone else joining me??

hi all, this thread seems to have take off again having been quiet. I assume the mw meant 3 epsiodes/day - bh's, having said that it was in the context of my bleeding and they do seem completely the opposite to mw's in the UK. By that I mean she seems to want to refer me to the ward/doctors for the slightest thing ( am seeing Dr's not her next visit) but last time with DS in UK I had high BP, swelling, breathlessness etc and the mw didn't seem bothered. Something inbetween would be nice.....
Had my first day back at work today so am very tired but was nice to be with adult company and sat on my butt all day so hardly strenuous....
have been having a great time window shopping didn't get to buy anything for DS as parents bought everything from clothes to cot etc as gifts and although the thought of none of my family being around to see the baby after he is born brings a tear to my eye am looking forward to decorating the nursery and buying some clothes this time (hope that doesn't sound ungrateful)

Aw, really sorry to hear that Podmog. It sounds really stressful, but good for you for keeping your cool.

Is there any way you can go see your midwife, maybe if they can just monitor the baby's heart rate for a while it might reassure you?

Thinking of you xx

littlerach · 24/03/2004 11:26

Hugs to you, Podmog.
Try not to worry, BH are a pain, relax if you can.

podmog what an awful time. I am pretty sure bh's can't harm the baby although they are scary and not pleasant especially at this stage. mw told me the other week the uterus is just a big muscle that contracts and to relax when it happens.
I go to a playgroup too where there is alot of tension at the moment, bought about by 1 person in particular and it can be so stressful for everyboy but to be singled out and shouted at in front of your dd was completely not on. I hope you manage to sort things with her or at least get her to back off.

M2T · 25/03/2004 09:05

Podmog - Don't worry about the baby though, BH don't harm them.
She sounds like a right cow.... you rose above it and that's what's bugging her. What is she texting to you? Does she want to reconcile??? I'm sure things will start to feel better in a day or two when it's not so 'fresh' in your mind.

Well, on a lighter note.... I had my scan yesterday!! All is fab.... baby was waving and opening it's mouth. Saw its face really clearly . Unfortunately she couldn't tell the sex as one of it's legs was covering the 'area'.

Now it's just the waiting game until due date. 21 weeks tomorrow.

sorry to hear about your colleague pogmog

I went on a factory visit yesterday and this morning and felt it was too much for me, spent 4 hours on a train there and back. Gonna tell my boss I can't do any more visits.

Still don't know if I feel the baby or not sometimes I think I do but it could just be my tummy rumblings!

sibble · 25/03/2004 19:15

M2T glad the scan went well for you, it's just so exciting to see them isn't it? Sadly we don't get a picture here just the full fimls to look after ourselves so I haev nothing to send home - did you get a picture?

Podmog, hopefully the mediator will be the way forward. Let the mediator know the effect the incident had on you...

Everybody else, take it easy and have good weekends.

Quackers · 25/03/2004 20:20

dinosaur · 26/03/2004 15:39

Good luck Podmog. Try not to get too stressed out, whatever happens.

sibble · 26/03/2004 20:29

hi all, anybody else got weird skin things going on - my legs are shedding skin quicker than a snake despite how much cream I apply, my chest is reliving it's youth and having some kind of dod to dot acne outbreak but my face resembles a babies butt despite for the first time in 38 years me not bothering to cleanse properly every evening. Very weird....

stace · 26/03/2004 22:30

Hi everyone, is anyone else getting uncomfortable, my bump is already getting heavy and i find i have to support it a bit for comfort as the day wears on. I remember having this last time but much later on. Does anyone know if its a sympton of SPD. Also have a feeling of being bruised between the legs somes days. Anyone got any advice?

sponge · 27/03/2004 16:37

Sibble, we must be twins. I have gone very dry and scaly on the arms and legs, quite a recent delvelopment, and my chest has been nice and spotty for many weeks, also my bum and backs of legs which is attractive - thank god only dh gets to see these bits and he's very forgiving! Face is in good shape though so everyone keeps telling me how well I look - if only they saw me in the shower!
Stace, I've been having this too. Bump getting quite uncomfortable as the day wears on, especially if I've had to stand or walk lots, and quite tender - sort of a bruised feeling - across the bottom of it. I only really remember having any discomfort very late on last time round so I asked my midwife about it. She didn't seem to think it was much cause for concern. Said there were serious ligaments across the bottom of the bump which could be stretching and for the rest to try and take it easier. Only a cause for any concern she thought if there was bleeding or real pain rather than aches. I put most of it down to being much bigger, quicker than last time, and to being 4 years older.

stace · 27/03/2004 23:44

Thanks sponge that makes sense and makes me feel a bit more at ease with the worries of it!!! Hope you start to feel better soon!

M2T · 29/03/2004 08:23

Ditto the dry skin on legs!! And I've got a very spotty forehead and chin!

I had my Physio appointment on Friday. She showed me better ways to stand/move/sit/carry and also fitted me with a rather attractive Obstetric Belt!! Lurrrrrrvely..... feel mega sexy with my flaky skin, spotty face and my weightlifters belt. Sigh.... how glam?!

I'm 21+3 today and I'm HUGE. Went to my friends house on Saturday night and they couldn't believe how much I'd expanded in just 3wks. Hope this slows down a bit before I need a pushchair to carry the bump!

Have you all noticed the April thread??? Everyone is in early labour, getting shows, starting to dilate, waters trickling..... CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT TO BE US! Seems a lifetime away though.

M2T, I am a wk ahead of you, and just the same, I grew loads all of a sudden, and really feel huge now. Just a month ago, no-one believed I was pg, now it is so obvious!!

stace · 29/03/2004 10:53

M2T well done to you for feeling so excited and positive about the birth. I have to say i am somewhere between denial and terrified. I just want to go back about two weeks when i was huge and uncomfortable, how come your so excited what am i missing?

Im having my 20 week scan tommorrow maybe it will settle me down a bit !

dinosaur · 29/03/2004 11:16

hi everyone

another candidate here for the spotty/flakey skin club!

stace - I wasn't terrified until I had to go to delivery suite last week - it was really busy, there was lots of screaming going on etc etc - and I just thought God almighty, why have I let myself in for this - again?! But then I saw someone's gorgeous new born son being wheeled past in his little hospital crib and I just thought - awww, I remember now, that's what it's all about!

ber-limey podmog - how did you manage that??? I've piled on about a stone (at least)!

stace · 29/03/2004 11:36

thanks dino for the reassuring info perhaps i need to spend some time with some mums with little one.

Weight wise i am 20+4 and have put on 2 kilos dont know if that is good or not, i was so sick for the first 3 months that i lost wieght but fortunately i had plenty to lose!!! Almost wish the baby could keep on eating up my fat now

I really am shocked at how uncomfortable, exhausting and wearing it is the 2nd time around, i really didnt take it on board when friends moaned when they were going through it. I feel like i was i completely unsupportive cow to them all, flower all round it think!!

sponge · 29/03/2004 13:28

How are you all managing to keep your weight down so well. I'm 21 wks + 5 and have put on over a stone but I don't think much of it is fat, I've just got this huge bump already.
I'm with MT2 on the looking forward to the end front, but more because I can't wait for it to be over - pregnancy was much more fun first time round
