Yes I have finally started this thread. A bit apprehensive though as I'm still getting period pains.

I have worked out that baby number 2 should be due on 7 August.

Anyone else joining me??

M2T - my mum was 3 months before she realised she was pregnant with me as she too had a light period etc so you could be...don't swap threads though...
am waiting to hear from my consultant today about a date for a scan for my ovarian cyst, had to cancel the appointment I originally had today as DS has his nursery party and thought that was more important but that was before I knew I was pregnant, am hoping it has gone or is no larger as they said they would operate. feel positive though and hopefully will get appointment before christmas and everything will be OK...also need to get to see GP so can get booked for nuchal fold scan but after m/c last time am reluctat to tempt fate and actually go..maybe next week. M2T have you been to your GP yet?

M2T · 05/12/2003 08:45

Sibble - No I haven't been yet coz I know they won't really do anything. Just confirm the pg and weigh me etc.... and probably prescribe me lots of Iron & FA tabs. I'm taking FA anyway. Good luck sibble.

Thanks Quacks. Think I'll try to get an appointment at the docs today (HA!).

Hi folks. I've got my booking appointment on Monday at the GPs. But yesterday I was getting horrible shooting pains in my lower tummy when I stretched, coughed, sat up, stood up!!! It was agony.

I got an emergancy appointment and it turns out its only a UTI! I've been given anitbiotics which I don't usually get for them. However, the doc thinks I maybe a couple of weeks further on!
Don't know how thats possible though. He thinks my light AF on 1st Nov was actually not an AF and I maybe ovulated very late in my cycle. He estimated about 6 or 7 wks after feeling my tummy. Won't know for sure until I have my scan though. Very frustrating!

sibble · 07/12/2003 02:53

M2T sorry about the UTI, hope the antibiotics work soon. let us know your dates when you have the scan.
I had forgotten how tired you get in the early stages, had to have a sleep yesterday and could fall asleep at the moment if DH was not going psycho outside the window with a chain saw with DS in tow. Brain has also switched off, has never been fully switched on, but today put Dh's car keys in his undies drawer - he had spent 1/2 hour looking for them and is still rolling his eyes about the months to come...
Managed to go to a Robbie Williams concert last night though - fantastic. Was not going to tell anybody about being pregnant as so early and could not bear the thought of telling everybody had lost baby like last time if it all goes wrong but can't help myself and DS is tellin all and sundry - from friends to shop assistant's. Really hope for his sake everything keeps going well.
Will book into the Gp next week I think so I can get on the list for a nuchal fold scan and then start the task of finding a midwife. Here in NZ you find your own, interview them and take the one you like and is free. Sounds great but is a bit of a pain ringing around. Everybody is also into home births and as I want a hospital birth (had emergency c/s) last time my coince is limited to start with.
Well am off to sit in front of the fan again - is really humid today here.
Love to all

Hi Sibble - I must say I seem to be telling a lot of people and I promised myself I wouldn't. I SOOOOOOOOO hope nothing is gong to go wrong.

I felt a little sick this morning, but not very much and my breasts aren't that sore. I have a worrying lack of symptoms.

And also I seem to be having trouble sleeping!! Although I feel quite tired most of the time when it comes to going to bed it takes ages!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can someone reassure me that they had very different symptoms with their 2nd pg and everything still turned out okay????

Please?

can't reassure you from experience except to say - now don't have sore boobs, hardly any nausea but also cannot sleep am waking at all hours and taking ages to go to sleep...only symptom I still have is am permanently tired.

just popping in from the july thread. but just to reassure M2T i have sore boobs in the morning when i wake up but that is the sum token of ALL my symptoms! i was like that with ds. everyone said i was v lucky, but then i developed chronic spd at around 30 weeks and couldn't walk for 2 months! dread to think how i'll cope this time with a 3-year old!!!

coppertop · 08/12/2003 10:35

M2T - I've strayed on to this thread but I'm not pregnant. I just wanted to reassure you a bit about your pg symptoms. With my first pg my body seemed to go into overdrive. I had 4 months of being sick, my sugar levels were just below the gestational diabetes level, and my blood pressure kept 'spiking' to the point where I had several BP profiles. Ds1 arrived after 40 hours of labour. With ds2 everything seemed to calm down. I felt queasy but was only sick once. My BP was normal, and so were my sugar levels. Ds2 arrived after only 6 hours of labour. I think your body just seems to have a better idea of what to expect the second time around. Congratulations!

elwar · 08/12/2003 11:34

Hi M2T, i'd like to join the thread as i'm due #2 on 6th August , though having had a nightmare labour ending in emergency c-section with DD (2 yrs ago) am hoping for an elective section a couple of weeks before that date.
Feel strange telling people, (have told family, drinking friends(!) and a few collegues so far) as i didnt find out till 10 weeks(!) with DD.
Now have extra worry as DD's nursery has had cases of slapped cheek syndrome and so am seeing GP asap to check immunity.
Main pg sympton is weeing ALL the time - no more snoozing in the morning as i wake up busting for the loo -despite also going in the night! Also pretty tired, not quite as exhausted as last time though, but its early days.
Look forward to seeing how everyone pg progresses! J

Thanks so much every one!! I've can't wait to see the Doc this afternoon even though they aren't going to do much. It'll just feel more official and real! AAAAAH!

Welcome Elwar! Ditto with the peeing thing. But I thought it might just be my UTI.

Hi elwar - welcome. ditto too about peeing during the night.

Am having a dilema about whether to tell at work, I know it is really too early but my sister's friend got me the job after my m/c (mutual favour type of thing) I was honest with her about trying to get pregnant but as nothing had happened for 6 motnhs 2 weeks ago I signed up for another year, more pay, more hours etc. At the moment they are reducing the work force to 25% of the existing (research this happens) but my job is secure while other people's are not. If I end up having another m/c I will want to keep working but if I am still pregnant at 12 weeks I will probably give up and spend time with DS who will be 4 in Feb and nearly starting school by the time the baby arrives...I have no intention of going back afterwards - been there and done that with DS and too hard.
DH thinks I should keep quiet, I would like to tell my sister's friend but am not sure I can rely on her to keep quiet. I just don't want her to feel in a few months time - why didn't I tell her - and I don't want to leave her up the creek staff wise but on the other hand I don't want to shoot myself in the foot... am rambling now so will go and have another think.

what do you think?

Sibble - I agree with Dinosaur. You really don't have an obligation to tell her just now. You need to look after YOU.

Right - I take ALLLLL that back about lack of symptoms!!! Woke up at 5.30am feeling incredibly sick..... now at work and still feel terrible! and also coz now I feel like I'm pregnant!

Anyone else feeling sick already?

Helloooooo!

Did you see we worked out your due date?? And we worked out that you are 4wks on Thursday.

BTW.... I FEEL SICK!
Have I mentioned that all ready?

OP posts:
elwar · 09/12/2003 14:47

hi dinosaur - slapped cheek syndrome is a parvovirus (?) also called 'fifth disease' i think. rash and fever in toddlers/children, but not something you want in pregnancy. off to docs in a mo so hopefully he'll put my mind at ease...

M2T · 09/12/2003 14:51

Good luck Elwar - Hope it all goes well.

good luck elwar and congratulations oliveoil.

think I will hold off telling at work yet as have woken this morning and have NO symptoms at all whereas yesterday felt slightly sick all day. am trying not to worry but very hard.

have appointment with GP on Thursday so she can book me for nuchal fold in the new year as everything will close down over Christmas. am also waiting for appointment for scan for my cyst so...if baby hangs on in there I'll get to see it lost which will be great.
