Yes I have finally started this thread. A bit apprehensive though as I'm still getting period pains.

I have worked out that baby number 2 should be due on 7 August.

hi everybody
thought I would join you in the festive fun and change my name. I live on the pohutakawa coast (just south of Auckland) and the pohutakawa is the NZ christmas tree because it is green with bright red flowers and comes out this time of the year. have a lovely one in my garden. can't beat a lovely piece of holly though imo. 'deck the hall with boughs of pohutakawa' just doesn't sound the same, does it...
well, am looking forward to today, a friend is picking DS up at lunchtime so I have the whole afternoon to myself, will either laze in the summer sun or venture to the shops to buy pressies depending on how sick I feel, then off to a friends for a swim.
Am going to call GP today and ask for a scan request form to hopefully get scanned this side of christmas to check evreything is OK. one of the good things about NZ health care not being entirely free, GP's will usually do as you ask because you have to pay anyway!!
Twins - now that is a scarey thought, it might just tip DH over the edge

I'm 8 weeks today, due 29th July 04 - I thought I would keep checking in with this thread though, as went a week overdue with last one.

Despite signing on with the GP three weeks ago, I haven't got a booking-in appointment yet or an appointment for a nuchal scan. I would be grateful if you ladies could please tell me whether you have/had your appointments yet and when did they come through?

Right folks.... for the past 2 days I've been getting what feels like period pains. Quite strong too!! I haven't had any bleeding, but I'm getting so worried and I'm sick of going to the toilet avery 15 mins to check.

Should I go the Doctor or will he just tell me to come back if there is any bleeding? My period would've been due in about a week so this ties in with when I would normally get period pains. I'm worried sick and DH just doesn't understand.

hi gladtidings - sorry to butt in on your august board but you sounded worried so I wanted to reassure you that it could just be 'stretching pains' - I had absolutely loads of them first time round - lower abdominal cramps like a period pain.

GladTidings - if you are worried do go and have a chat to the GP.

I saw mine yesterday and told her about the funny sort of crampy sensation I have been having in my lower right side, and she was very reassuring. She did say it is certainly not to early to be feeling "stretching" pains.

Unofortunately it takes about 2 wks to get an appointment at my GP's and they won't talk to me on the phone.

It does seem to be all on my left side though. Oh thanks folks, I hadn't considered stretching pains so soon! Although I DO seem to be doing quite a bit of expanding!!!

GladTidings - that's outrageous! How on earth can they possibly justify that?!!

Tell me about it! I would need to get an emergency appointment which would involve me going there at 5pm..... sitting and waiting for an hour and a half to see a Doctor who is pissed off with you coz they would rather be home.... They have a real "This better BE an emergency"!! attitude.

I cannot see how they can justify not speaking to you on the telephone though. Our GPs' practice is horrendously busy, but they will at least talk to you by telephone.

p.s. got my scan date - 14 Jan.

My GPs used to be like yours, GT. But Now..... now you can only book an appt. by phoning up on the day -- that's right, you can't book anything in advance! Don't ask me how they expect anybody to sort out childcare or other commitments on the day. And talk to me on the phone???? Ha, now that is laughable!!

We do have a Walk-In Centre in town, at least.

I have to agree, I have had what felt like crampy twinges and even pains that have taken my breath away and I was convinced that was it, but it must have been stretching!

Hello folks.
I love the name Quacks.

The cramping pains have stopped and the sickness has started with a vengeance! Had to take yesterday off coz I had the spins everytime I stood up! It felt like a really bad hang over. I feel a 'bit' better today, so came into work to tie up a few loose ends (ahem.... look at MN ).

I will be 8 wks on Friday and I think I'm going to have to go shopping for trousers with stretchy waistbands already!!

I have my MW appointment on Monday so fingerscrossed I'll get a date for my scan.

Great news Dino, you're getting a scan nice and quickly, can't wait to hear all about it. :
