Yes I have finally started this thread. A bit apprehensive though as I'm still getting period pains.

I have worked out that baby number 2 should be due on 7 August.

Anyone else joining me??

Sibble - We have decided not to have the tests done.
When DP first heard about them he said he wanted them doing as i wasn't overly keen - however, thanks to some great advice from M2T and a good link to a website from Mears I discussed it with DP and we have decided not to have them done.

I will try and find the link for you.

Basically it was very good and gave you lots of statistics - helped me put things into perspective - plus the fact that i am only 19, Dp is 20 and neither have any family history of DS, Spina Bifida or the other things they test for.

BRB with the link

Here we go - there are 2:

this one talks about the quadruple test which you can have done privately i think
and this one is figures from what is available on the NHS

Hope i've got that the right way round

M2T · 13/01/2004 09:25

Aw thanks SC - Do you that on another thread I was being verbally attacked by another poster for being high and mighty and abusive!! And the advice I gave you on the triple test was used as an example!!!

Dino - I can't actually remember, it was just before Christmas. I was careful about which threads I read after that just to avoid a retaliation.... I can't bite my tongue so I'm best off not reading their posts! Doesn't matter.... I s'pose it's just another example of the little heatwave that is sweeping MN again!

M2T · 13/01/2004 10:01

Good luck with that Dino.

I'm feeling okay. The sickness has gone although the funny taste in my mouth hasn't! It's weird, I just don't fancy anything to eat, but when something is put in front of me I scoff it down no probs!

How about you? I can't believe the 12 wk mark is nearly here! Even though I found out I was pg at 3.5wks, it's still flown by!!!!

I never knew that M2T! Although i wasn't here just before Xmas so probably missed it completely.

I didn't take your comments in any other way - just simple advise from a "friend"!

Good luck with your scan Dino - do you have to wait long for the results?

Back from Midwives now - so peeved

Appointment was at 11.00 - finally got seen at 11.55 - was so rushed when i was in there absolutely forgot to mention about the number of birthing partners allowed! Not seeing her again now until 18 weeks so best hope i remember next time!

One good think is that i heard baby's heartbeat - As it is the first time i'd heard anything like this it was really strange - asked the midwife if everything was OK and she said it was fine - baby sounded nice and happy (Unlike his mum at this point!)

Sc thanks for the links, am still really undecided, will go ahead with nuchal fold test then decide from there. I am 38 and DH is 44 so I thought we were at higher risk but am now not so sure having read teh info.
I am so jealous of those who havn't had sickness or it is easing, mine is getting worse by the day rahter than better.

sweetkitty · 13/01/2004 21:57

thanks m2t

yes this is my first baby and apart from telling the doc at about 5 weeks I have heard nothing form midwives etc At least I have had the first scan so I know everything is Ok up until now.

I don't know anyone in this are so I'm worried about the options for the birth. I would like to be in a birthing centre not a big hospital but I've searched the net and there seems to be none in this area. All the talk about scans and quadruple tests freaking me out I'll have to do a bit more surfing.

similarthing · 13/01/2004 22:00

Hi ladies
I am still keeping a check on this thread as I am now not sure.
Glad to hear that you are all doing well!

elena2 · 14/01/2004 17:05

Good luck similarthing, whoever you may be!

similarthing · 14/01/2004 19:10

Sorry ladies. That was meant for the September thread

M2T · 15/01/2004 11:18

Sweetkitty - Don't let it all baffle you. I've never heard of a quadruple test either. (??).

How old are you? If you don't mind me asking. A lot of these tests are only offered to the..... ahem..... more mature mummy.

My MS is still staying away mostly. Don't feel sick anymore, but I still have the taste in my mouth and have gone off soooooo many foods, most of them healthy ones!!
11wks tomorrow!
Count down to the scan then I can really feel pregnant and make plans. 6 days to go....

How is everyone?

Hi All, Hope you don't mind if I hover over this site too-been given 2 EDD dates, 30th August and 1st September going by lmp. I have a feeling it will be at the end of August all being well Anyone else due at the end of Aug?.

sibble · 15/01/2004 17:52

Hi All, how is everybody.
Am nervously reporting that felt semi-human yesterday, still feel pregnant (boobs resemble 2 steak plates and minor nausea for an hour or so) but 24/7 pass me a bucket feeling disappeared overnight and so far so good today. Am so hoping it is going, it is DH's birthday on Sunday and was our anniversary on Wed so would be really nice to go for lunch on Sunday. Good luck dinosaur with your scan tomorrow.

Hi sibble - Glad you're feeling better! Time to start enjoying being pregnant.

Pdomog - Although I think that my MS has passed I too have been feeling shocking from about 5pm until I fall asleep! I have a long commute to and from work and I have to use public transport. I seem to have developed terrible travel sickness and I feel all dizzy on the tube. I am putting it down to tiredness. And I hope it'll disappear when I get through the 1st trimester and into the 2nd trimester. I felt fantastic from 14 wks to about 30 wks last time.

I'm 11 wks today! WAHEY! And only 5 day until me scan. , but still a little as I seem to have developed this feeling of dread about it!

Podmog - You've confused me (not difficult to do!).... why do you hope you go over your EDD?
