A new thread for us all to share our mutual anxieties, hopes and fears.

OP posts:
SnowBoo · 23/04/2006 20:01

Well i need a morning to catch up with all this!

Slink, how are you? I've been getting some really sharp pains shooting from my cervix upwards. Not sure if its baby kicking or what! And backache. AND rally bad BH's. So bad i called dh to tell him i thought i was in labour. Obviously panicked (not) and told me to chill out.

Am dreading journey to work tomorrow, now have a fear of A40 on a Monday needing to pee every 15mins Blush

diddle · 24/04/2006 08:02

morning ladies,

well you've all chatted far too much i have no idea whats going on with most of you.
Slink - you're still a worry matey Grin can't believe the treatment you're getting i'd have been sobbing my eyes out if my midwife had said to me what was said to you. i can't understand why someone like that goes into a profession where they need to be caring and considerate and supportive. She obviously has no idea how to do those things.

Petunia - can't believe how close to your date you are, how exciting, i'll be so excited when its me, i can't wait, and i've got 6 + 3 left.

Hellkat - hope you're doing ok, sounds like you had a good weekend, can't believe your weather was nice enough for DP to be out in a vest in the garden, you're not that far from me and it was grey and horrible here.

Oinker - thinking of you, still getting positive vibes from you, whens the scan??

HellKat · 24/04/2006 08:31

Morning all.
Oinker- All my symptoms disappeared before and at at the beginning of the brown muck (that was the missed mc). Definitely stopped feeling pg. Never realised at the time that something was up though.
Diddle- I'm great ta hun, how are you? Weahther turned shite after Saturday lol.
Mygirl- Shock at charging to find out the sex. Stuff that. I'm going up next Wednesday for mine and won't be too impressed. If they do start charging, I'm not bothering finding out lol.

Had pants night's sleep, ds2 had the major fidgets then the bloody cat started scratching the carpet Angry. Had really bad bh over the weekend and getting pains in my cervix, plus a weird heavy feeling. Deffo not proper contractions. Wondering if lo has switched position again, been wriggling and booting me like a good un lol.
Have a great day all x

slinkstah · 24/04/2006 08:34

morning all:)
i have squits again!

hiya diddle how are you feeling hun?

snowboo- ive had a few scares recently too, with bh and cervix pain. i reckon cervix pain is the stitch pulling so i reckon its definatly a sign to take things easy as baby is getting heavy now. i can't see myself having much cervix above the stitch left if any! are you still getting scans?

oinker- not long now til scan, hopefully today will go fast.

petunia- omg your gonna drop any day!

mygirl- glad your booking went well, weird about the sexing stuff.

cori- hard day for you today, its coming up to a year for me too, doesn't feel like a year at all.

twocats- congrats about nuchal:)

hk- i could do with some fake tan to cover my stretchmarks too lol

HellKat · 24/04/2006 08:40

Pmsl @ that word Slink. Makes me die even when I see it but looks hilarious in writing. Fake tan is a must for stretchies!!!! Grin

diddle · 24/04/2006 09:36

Cori - hope you're doing ok today, hows the movement going? we're all thinking of you, i know this is a tough day, feel free to share your feelings, just because you have another child on the way doesn't make the loss of the previous one any easier.

Hk & Slink - I'm doing ok thanks, must have done a good job of my makeup this morning as everyone has told me how well i'm looking, unless thats secret code for fat Smile
Feel tired all the time, and baby is sitting on my bones, both pelvic bones feel immense pressure on them, such an odd feeling. DH tells me every day that it looks lower and bless him checks if my waters have broken, he keeps me smiling. He'll have a shock when i say yes Grin

mygirllolipop · 24/04/2006 09:50

Hi, omg can't type, cut finger on washing basket that MIL left in the wrong place!
Oinker - I think Sundays are for booking in cos when I moved down here I was pg with DD3 and my first appointment was a Sun. I thought it was a Sat and done urine, MW didn't come then turned up the next day! So I gave her the stale wee, it was fine apparently! Altho there was a heavily pg woman had her appt after me so maybe not booking in only. It's the Shrewsbury and Telford Trust btw. I don't know if it's only my trust that charges. I don't think they'll charge you lot who are further on, just us newbies.
Another funny story, the MW who was based at my GP had major bust up with GP apparently so I have to go to the hospital for MW. Not that I mind I get free parking on DH work permit!

diddle · 24/04/2006 10:51

mygril - think your typing has improved since cutting your finger Grin Wink
Wish i had free parking, our hospital charge £2.50 for 4 hours or less and
£5.00 for any longer, heres hoping for a quick labour.

oinker · 24/04/2006 11:14

Mine charge £1.20 an hour Shock

Still no change here. I have an original appointment at 0945 (made 4wks ago) which hospital clerk said did not exist and an 1145 one he made for tom. I have my 0945 appointment card so will go then. They always keep me waiting anyway.
I will be alone as DH is on a course in surrey and cannot get released for the day. Sad

Thanks for all getting back to me regarding your symptoms.
I hate to say it but I have started to beleive that I am still p/g. I have tried not too but have so many symtoms, I feel tired, sore boobs, light headed, nauseaus etc. Surely, I can't be imagining it? Shock

Regardless, I have to wait until the morning!!

oinker · 24/04/2006 11:16

Have you guys compiled a list of EDD?

I have only just got onto this thread so am not really sure of all your dates.

mygirllolipop · 24/04/2006 11:19

Didle - hey you cheeky minx! Our hosp charges £2 no matter how long you stay. But we've got a staff permit so nahnahnahnahnah!
Oinker- really wishing the best for tomorrow, take sometihing (like mag) to hosp so you're not bored waiting. Thinking about you honey.

slinkstah · 24/04/2006 12:13

mine doesn't have any parking, there is metered around paddington but am guessing they would be ridiculous price

oinker- being alone for your scan tommorrow is not good, we will all be thinking about ya though.
it does sound like your still pg.
there is a list of EDD on the stats thread that i posted, will not include any newbies though so could do with an update. i will bump it.

SnowBoo · 24/04/2006 13:30

Oinker, wish you all the luck in the world for tomorrow.

My hosp charge £1.20 for 4 hours but we park across the road for free. Otherwise you have to queue for half an hour for a space!

Feel like a baby elephant now but looking at bump it must be all baby as i haven't been eating a great deal (hence the low blood sugar Blush) Have promised myself a nice bag of raw carrots for my afternoon snack. Maybe i should change my name to Donkeeboo....

cori · 24/04/2006 14:47

Hi guys,
I am OK. Spending half the day at the hospital being monitored has taken my mind off things. The trace was fine, said movement appeared to be fine as well. I explained how over the past couple of days there is been next to no movement during the day, then it starts up at night. They asked me to do a kick chart and to come back in on thursday to be monitored again if still worried.

Slink, Arabica, are we doing lunch tomorrow. Covent Garden, 12.30 ish. Hope you can both make it.

OP posts:
Wills · 24/04/2006 16:46

Wow, I missed LOADS! Sorry went away for the weekend to our new house. Was fabulous but am nervous how many more I can get away with doing. Only want to go there if we've got a friend going with us as otherwise if Little one does make an early appearance dd1 and dd2 will be sharing the whole experience with us Grin.

Pet - how ya doing honey?

Oinker - everything crossed for tomorrow

Cori - how did today go?

Slink - again? God start taking iron tablets now! Grin - or is it because you keep having the epsom salt baths GrinGrin

Diddle - 2.75 for 2 hours!!!

Backache is absolutely awful so they've put me on codine which also binds you up so along with the iron tablets am seriously considering coming and finding you slink!

Wills · 24/04/2006 16:47

Sorry Cori - missed your post. Am going to "phone a friend" and see if I can join you tomorrow. Back later with results.

petunia · 24/04/2006 17:20

Wills- I'm doing OK, thankyou for asking. I'm still here! (Perhaps I should just post that in the evenings instead of going on about how fed up I'm getting, how wide my ankles are, how my back aches etc)!
Cori- glad things went well at the hospital.
Oinker- will be thinking of you tomorrow.
Re: hospital charges, do you get any exemptions? The LRI used to find that people would use the car park and then go off in to Leicester (using the bus or something) shopping, come back and then get their ticket stamped so they didn't have to pay. Think that was a pretty low thing to do. So now, nobody's exempted, including cancer patients who have to make regular trips to the hospital and women in labour etc. There's been real uproar about it because quite often it can take 1/2 hr to wait for a space. And it's not helped by them actually expanding the hospital every now and then so that reduces the number of spaces as well.

Arabica · 24/04/2006 17:26

cori, I'm fine for 12.30 Covent Garden!
Had lots of movement today. Last night had squits! Must have caught it from this thread. Luckily we did have the bottom part of a loo even if we had no mains water. I would rather have shat my pants than go downstairs to moany neighbours!

Wills · 24/04/2006 17:26

Pet if you wanna moan - then moan away! Is your hospital the one recently reported on the news?

petunia · 24/04/2006 17:55

Wills- not sure whether the Leicester Royal Infirmary has been on the news recently or not. When the exemptions stopped it was on the local news. I think out of the hospitals in the area (Infirmary at Derby and the Queens Medical Centre at Nottingham) the LRI has the most expensive parking. We think when I go in, it'll cost £7.00 or £8.00 for the hours I might be there (going by how long I was in for when I had DD2).

twocatsonthebed · 24/04/2006 18:06

hello everyone (and their squits)

cori - glad that it was all OK at the hospital, and also very good that they were taking it seriously.

mygirl - wish we had mw's appointments at the weekend. My lot only want to see me on a Monday morning. That's when they see people from my surgery - but it's also when we have a big office meeting with everyone up from London etc. They tell me I am supposed to have paid time off, and won't budge, which isn't very helpful (esp as I'm only in the office 2-3 days a week). Am not looking forward to having that row every time...

oinker - really hope that tomorrow goes well, we'll all be thinking of you all day.

Hope that all the stomachs are better - and I've only been to our hospital once so far, for a scan, and that cost me £4. Makes me think that having the baby in the local community hospital could be quite a saving...

Wills · 24/04/2006 18:16

2Cats. Had the same problem i.e. This is the time slot that we do MW visits and YOU are entitled to have paid time off so that's when you're having it! Great!

slinkstah · 24/04/2006 18:26

squits have died down, been to drs and she says its going round and asked for a sample. she did bp and checked babies hb and weighed me too- im almost reaching 11 stone which is a 2 stone increase at 31 weeks [ooopsy on the cakes] isn't it this trimester you put on all the weight? i could do another stone yet!

cori- will defo try and make it, i am not eating anything so hopefully they'll be no more squiters.
glad you went to be monitored and all was ok.

wills- thats what dp thought but haven't had epsom bath for a week, i may well blame his cooking though!
be great if you can make it tommorrow- im so weak and shaky i reckon i will need a carry lol

petunia- i had my 2 at LRI i remember the nightmare parking. although i had nightmares in labour with my ds as we broke down in the middle of a 4 lane ring road in leicester on the way to the hospital!

arabica- sorry for giving you the squits

slinkstah · 24/04/2006 18:29

oh and forgot to add the stupid arse of an exP asked me to get out and push the car- you can imagine the argument!

twocatsonthebed · 24/04/2006 18:40

ah, well we're women so our careers don't really matter, do they?
