nikki- omg!!! this is a shitty week eh! is it brown or red? brown is best but bleeding can be normal, i know you must be so stressed with it being so close to your last mc. try and get your doctor to refer you for a scan tommorrow. will be thinking of you xxxx

thinking of you too piffle

Piffle · 16/02/2006 22:51

Nikki I'm so sorry that you are going through this again, I really hope and hope that it is ok for you.
I came on to thank people for all the emails and messages.
I'm ok physically, emotionally wrecked so may not be around for a while until I get my head around this, a big thanks for all the support and best of luck to everyone with their pregnancies
Hope to see you all soon and special love to Nikki tonight
Love and hugs
Piffle

Arabica · 17/02/2006 01:14

Nikki, I really hope it's all OK and you get some answers as soon as possible.
Piffle, take care of yourself (more hugs).

HellKat · 17/02/2006 07:07

Nikki- {{{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}} I really hope it's eased off hun. I'm an expert now in bleeding in pg after the crap I've had. If you need a chat or anything hun, let me know.
Don't bother with the dr's, ring the epu and they'll get you in for a scan. Bleeding's never great, whether it's brown or red, but it's the pain factor that's worse. I had this along with heavy red bleeding (plus light brown). I was in agony and thought it was over again. You won't know until a scan.
Thinking of you today, fingers crossed you can get seen xxxxxxxxxxx

Piffle- Hunny how are you bearing up too? Bleeding and pain eased off any?

It's the most stressful thing and the cruellest. Lets all send out big positive sticky baby dust vibes and keep our fingers crossed our girls get sorted a.s.a.p.

Morning ladies thought I would check in well I am not going work today. rang drs I have apt at 10am with my good dr will ask him to get me scan he was good last time so fingers crossed. I am in constant pain in my lower back and (most of time feels hot inside) and abdomen although the bleed went from bright red and is now like a brown mucus now (tmi) but thats what happened last time. it was light for first 2/3 days then came like normal af. Thanks HK for your offer I may take you up on it. At my whits end and fearing the worst.

Thanks for your wishes and support ladies you are really fab.

Piffle how are you today thanks for your thoughts to are thinking of you and sending you lots of hugs {{{{}}}}

HellKat · 17/02/2006 08:30

Nikki- That's what I'm here for hun. I've been through this so many times (especially with this pg).
My last mc to was all brown as opposed to red so does'nt really matter on the colour.
Here's hoping (as I said to Piffle to) it's what i had. Excess womb lining coming away as an af.
My email addy is : [email protected].
I've just got to nip to the shop (top of the road) but will be back soon.
x

FirstNikki · 17/02/2006 08:32

HellKat · 17/02/2006 08:36

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} hunny, best of luck. Thinking of you xxx

diddle · 17/02/2006 08:48

How you doing this morning NIkki? I had a bleed early on in this pregnancy, was pink for a bit then when to brown discharge. it could seriously be nothing, but i would definitly get it checked, for your own piece of mind. esp as you have, wihtout wanting to scare you, if its ectopic it could be serious for your own health. get it checked hun

diddle · 17/02/2006 08:50

Hope piffle is doing ok too.

Nikki - i'd see the doc as early as poss today because come mid afternoon they won't do anything for you because of the weekend. I called my midwife last time and got sent for a scan the same day. get on the phone now!!!! or you'll be waiting all weekend.

kreamkrackers · 17/02/2006 09:19

nikki - hope you get your scan today. i do think it depends on which hospital your booked in at for how long you have to wait for a scan, at my hospital i phoned up the saturday night and was scanned the sunday morning. {{{{{hugs}}}}} try not to worry, i read that only 1 in 6 bleds in pregnancy results in mc, which are good odds. i agree that it doesn't matter on the colour of the blood, you definetley need to get checked out.

piffle - i know you said you won't be coming on but here's some {{{{{hugs}}}}} i hope you're getting some rest.

wools · 17/02/2006 10:18

Nikki, have just seen what's happening to you. I'm so sorry and hope that as HK says it could be excess womb lining. I hope that your doctor will be able to refer you for an urgent scan so that at least you won't spend the weekend in limbo. Hope that you are doing okay Piffle and managed to get some sleep. Thinking of you both. Here's hoping today will be a better day.

FirstNikki · 17/02/2006 12:40

Hi just checking in..

dr was great advised to go home and rest with feet up. scan is tuesday morning. could go a&E but would get same apt or later as would be treated by same dept. Also bleeding has eased so hoping it stays that way..no bleed on wipe tmi but still in pain. got mum here so she is keeping me company x

thanks everyone you are great support

wools · 17/02/2006 13:13

Very glad to hear the bleeding has subsided Nikki - definately put your feet up and rest. Glad your mum is there with you for moral support. Take it easy.

kreamkrackers · 17/02/2006 13:18

that sounds good nikki. try to relax, i'm sure everything will be alright for you. are you taking anything for the pain, cocodamol eased the pain for me, it also helps you to relax a little more when you're not in as much pain. hot water bottles and lots of warm baths (with lots and lots of bubble bath) also helps. also a nice warm cup of steamy hot chocolate (made with milk instead of water), yummy.

also did he check your water? just asking because the pain i was in and the spotting was caused by a water infection. if you think you might have this drink lots and lots of cranberry juice and water to clean your system out.

Piffle · 17/02/2006 13:20

Hi just wanted to check and see how Nikki was doing, I'm glad your bleeding has eased, hope that you get rest and that everything is ok this weekend petal.
Nothing hopeful for me I'm afraid but I feel a lot better than I did yesterday.
Absolutely no pain which has surprised me, no cramps nothing, just bleeding and lots of it. I guess cos it was so early maybe...

kreamkrackers · 17/02/2006 13:27

oh piffle, don't give up hope yet {{{{{hugs}}}}}
i still think they should check your hormones to see what's happening and that'll help you get some answers one way or another. try to rest as much as you can.

wools · 17/02/2006 13:43

Piffle, glad to hear you feel a bit better today. I'm so sorry about the bleeding. I understand that it may be too early for a scan but think that at the least your consultant should have offered you blood tests to check the hormone levels - how can they be happy to leave you in limbo?

Piffle · 17/02/2006 13:53

Thx, the consultant I saw yesterday was in my town, so there was no tv scanning equipment there and they would have had to send me to the hospital 35 miles away to have the tv scan
Seeing as I had dd with me and (no dp until tonight - with ds finishing school at 3.45pm), was bleeding heavily and fairly calm and accepting, he asked would I be happy to see how the bleeding went and I said yes.
They have said if the bleeding stops etc they will scan me next thursday.
All pg tests have been negative since yesterday morning so I'm pretty sure I'd be silly to hope for anything really.
Thanks for all the thoughts too x x x

kreamkrackers · 17/02/2006 13:55

oh piffle {{{{{hugs}}}}} same advice as before really, keep your feet up and rest as much as possible.

slinkstah · 17/02/2006 14:30

piffle- thats awful i really hope the bleeding stops, defo put feet up and take care.

sorry this is a long rant, i should prob chill and shut up especially after what piffle and fn are going thorough. had to get it out somehow dp is not much of a listener today either.

i had an appointment today and i am getting fed up of different drs with different opinions on things anyone else had the same inconsistancies???
eg-
15 weeks told no stitch for me as it wasn't needed but cervical scans were
16 weeks told no cervical scan as they weren't needed
17 weeks told stitch needed but as i refused because later = more risk, scans were defo needed
19 weeks cervical scans aren't really needed by 1 dr and cervical scans are needed by another dr! progesterone pessarys are needed. itchy thrushy is not a prob in preg don't worry
22 weeks progesterone isn't needed! itchy thrushy? well lets swab!

i feel like im being pulled pillar to post- can the medical profession just not flipping agree!!
this new dr i saw today said no need to take progesterone pessarys anymore and said will give another 2 weeks, she has given me 200mg not 400mg, she has made a flipping mistake!
i don't trust this new dr and would rather prefer to see the person who perscribed me the progesterone pessarys in the first place before i agree to come off them.
what shall i do, i seem to be forever fighting the drs, am i really suppose to trust a person i have only just met because she says she is a consultant and she wouldn't have perscribed me progesterone unless it was early pg??? or do i stick with the professor who wanted to see how i went on progesterone for a while and gave it me mid pg to stop the contractions which may or may not cause preterm labour!

why are they causing me this stress, am i an experiment? what if i do stop the progesterone and then go into labour? does she realise she is playing with my babies life ?

anyway what shall i do, i have 5 days of normal progesterone left and a few 200mg which they gave me today which if i was to keep the same dose i would have to take 4 a day!
shall i ring the hospital and try to explain all this to them ?

wools · 17/02/2006 14:44

Slinkstah, I think I would be tempted to get a second opinion on this. Is there no way you can see the doctor who first prescribed the 400mg dose. If this is not possible, definately ring the hospital and explain your concerns. If I was in your position, I would feel exactly like you. Is it worth posting a new thread to see if there are any mums to be in a similar situation to you to see what their advice may be.

diddle · 17/02/2006 14:45

Piffle - so sorry you're bleeding hun, make sure you're resting.

Nikki - Very pleased the bleeding has subsided, but i am very concerned about your pain, did they do any checks or ask any questiosn to rule out an ectopic?? If the pain gets mega bad, i would defintly go to A&E, my hospital always said they didn't scan at weekends but i have since foudn out that they do have emergency scans on a saturday. Don't let them fob you off, if you're not happy at all, then tell someone, or call NHS direct.

Slink - what shall we do with you, right well i would try and make sure they get you the same doc for all future appointments, and don;t fob you off with docs who don't know your background.
I would not stop taking the pessaries just yet, and call the hosp and explain that you ahve been prescrbibed the wrong dosage, say that you should have 400mg ones liek the current ones, but the consultant wasn't your normal one and they must have got it confused. I wouldn't go into mega details, you'll only confuse them.

I would arrange an appointment to see the original doc who prescribed them too you as well as you suggested, definitly before coming off them.

Remember - you are in control, thsi is your baby, your pregnancy and your life, don't let them tell you what to do, they're there to help you, not confuse and stress you.

HellKat · 17/02/2006 14:49

Nikki- Fingers crossed things turn out ok.Rest up and take it easy hun.

Piffle- {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}} If you want to get it sorted quicker, pull the pain card (you're already bleeding) and go up to a&e. They'll scan you there & then. If not then 9am Monday ring the epu hun ,you really need to know. This limbo is a nightmare, I've been there.
Thinking of you both. x
Slink- Aww hunny. I'd give the hospital a call and find out. What a nightmare. you need to relax though hun, you've come so far. you don't need the stress of bloody dr's atm.
xxxxxxxxxxxx

kreamkrackers · 17/02/2006 14:49

YES you need to tell them. personally, from what you've said, i think it sounds like you need to be on the progesterone. i would be so annoyed. i have had doctors say different things when it came to dd needing her second heart operation, i was told she wouldn't need it for another 6 months, went back six weeks later and they said she was booked in for the week after as they reviewed her notes and it was now priority. apparentley her main consultant had been very worried about leaving it any longer but nobody told me that until dd was booked in. the hospital which my dd goes to is great but i've always said there is a lack of communication between the different doctors, it sounds like it's not the only hospital that has this problem.
