Just been diagnosed with posterior pp after small bleeds at 24 and 26 weeks. The placenta reaches but doesn't completely cover os.
I have been advised to stop work, pelvic rest, no lifting, pushing supermarket trolley, exercise and to take life very easy.
I have put myself on modified bed rest- spend a lot of time in bed/ sofa but get up to potter about the house and for a short slow gentle walk daily to prevent dvt.
I am really struggling emotionally. This is an ivf baby after 3 years ttc and 2 losses. I am so so scared baby will come very early and be poorly. We were so happy and now it just seems a nightmare.
I'm 27+1 today. Baby seems fine at the moment and oblivious of all the worry it is causing.

Thanks for the tips Deo, it was the neonatal coordinator who suggested the 1am - 7am gap, so that I'm getting a decent chunk of sleep. I did read your thread, I was telling my DP about it today as your story is incredible... glad you're all through it and out the other side.

I discovered my breast pump is broken today, I am so not impressed!! So expressed by hand tonight. Took an hour but the amount I'm getting it slowly going up.

I know everyone says don't stress, but I really want him to have breastmilk as I'm so scared about him having too much formula and hurting his poor tum.

Blackcat how you doing today? x x

Coppernoddle · 10/06/2012 20:20

Good luck for tomorrow blackcat x x x x thinking of you x x x

Minipop, hope Thomas is doing well! X x

agnesrose86 · 10/06/2012 20:48

Hello everyone, glad you are all doing ok. I am going into hospital tomorrow. I will be 36 weeks and still absolutely no bleeding, I am finding it hard to believe it is necessary for me to take up a hospital bed but I guess they just want to minimise the risk. I have found everyone's comments really helpful and don't feel so bad about 2 weeks in hospital now, have got lovely new pjs, creams and cleansers for doing facials and lots of books. Fingers crossed I make it to 38 weeks and baby is a good weight. Thinking of everyone else. Hope it goes well tomorrow blackcat.

blacktreaclecat · 10/06/2012 20:49

Thank you
Excited but so nervous. Not sure I'll sleep tonight. Just so hoping the Blob is ok and I don't bleed too much.
Hope Thomas is ok today

Good luck black treacle cat, will be thinking of you tomorrow. Fingers crossed for not much bleeding and a happy blob with a good weight. :)

I know this thread will be the last thing on your mind, but do let us know how you get on..

Agnes Good luck with your hospital stay, Don't worry about taking up a bed, you really are there just in case, but fingers crossed it won't be needed and you'll get to 38 weeks with no probs.

Thomas is doing ok, had some cuddles with him today which was lovely, I helped do his cares, and he pooped on me when I changed his nappy..! :o

cmm · 11/06/2012 08:07

Black treacle - wishing you well today. It is such an emotional time. You will be so relieved when it's over and that horrid placenta is out!!! Take care. Can't wait to hear all is ok x

cmm · 11/06/2012 08:15

Mini pop - hope things are going ok with Thomas, love the name too.
Agnes - it is tough. Like the others, I had a long stay with pp. just over 5 weeks. But like they said to me you need to be there incase of big bleeds, they can then act so quick and get you in theatre. I do know people who havent had a bleed with pp though so fingers crossed. I did the same as you. Lots of facial products, magazines, DVD player and visitors. It's really hard but is worth it when you hold your little one.
Big hugs to you all x

ImissMiniPop · 11/06/2012 11:04

Good luck black treacle cat :) Thinking of you today x x x

deo357 · 11/06/2012 11:29

Good luck black tc !!!!

Pop - Stanley had formula solid for 5 days then 5 days mixed then just bf & I fed til 6 mths so u will be fine . Get your new electric pump ! Don't worry it will come GrinGrin

ImissMiniPop · 11/06/2012 22:06

Thanks Deo I am just so stressed about him having formula and developing NEC :( I think at the moment I am producing enough for half his milk needs, the rest is being made up with formula, and it's day 14 today. So stressful.

And Amazon mucked up the delivery of the new pump today, queue hysterical blubbering new mum on the phone to Amazon customer services squealing about how I should be at the hospital with baby and not sorting out their mess Blush

Yesterday when we had cuddles, he was slobbering on my chest and making sucking-like sounds. So today, the nurse helped me try him next to the breast. I put a little bit of milk on his lips and he was making all the right signs and sounds, and managed to take a few drops, which was amazing.

He repaid me by not only pooping over me (and the incubator) but by peeing over me too when I changed his nappy. :)

Blackcat hope things went ok for you today x x

Hi
Nicholas was born yesterday morning at 6.25am. He was in a hurry and didn't make his planned section time. I woke at 4.50 a small amount of red on the pad. Pressed the call bell and rang H to say get up and come down just in case.
The Mw said have a wee then we'll put you on the ctg. In the loo I had a flood with huge clots. Slipped over (stupid dvt socks!) getting back to bed. It was basically "the bleed"- soaked the bed.
But the team were amazing. He was happy on the monitor throughout. In the end it was a category 2 emcs. When we got to theatre they spent ages (15 min) trying to decide spinal/ GA. Anyway I got my spinal, H joined me and all calmed down. We even got our chosen music (Beatles). He was out fairly quickly and they lifted him up so I saw the sex for myself. He cried immediately.
H was able to trim the cord. He loves weeing everywhere and weed all over the scales when he was weighed. 6lb15 which is great for 36+3.
He is gorgeous. He has my toes, fingers and nose and his daddys chin.
He is doing really well, no breathing or temperature issues. Very sleepy. He won't suck so after quite a lot of trying we are hand expressing colostrum and cup feeding formula. He is on the ward with me :)
TBH I wanted a girl but n

Hi
Many congratulations on the birth of Nicholas! So pleased that your both safe. You'll be so relieved!!! Been thinking of you and checked mn when up in the night with my little one!!!
Agnes - not long now! This is like our thread last year this time! Slowly one by one we delivered and all ok. Feels like forever at the time when in hospital though and such a rollercoaster of emotions. You'll get there xxx

ImissMiniPop · 12/06/2012 09:30

Oh that's wonderful news, congrats blackcat :o sorry you had the 'bleed' but he's here and a great weight, and I am so pleased he's on the ward with you.

Sending you and little baby Nicholas (and your DH) all the best & lots of hugs, too. Xxx

deo357 · 12/06/2012 13:55

CONGRATS black cat !!! fab news, what an entrance, the bleed arrived !!! all done now, what a fantastic weight !! enjoy him xxx

poppy - u need to change your way of thinking, at least u are giving him something, you need to chill, think to yourself whatever i give is great, realx about it, it will help, but him sucking on you soon will help even more because your hormones will get all excited !!!!! so change your thought process to even 2 mils is good !!!!

Coppernoddle · 12/06/2012 20:43

Huge congratulations black cat!!! And a fantastic weight!! Little boys will melt your heart!! You'll be sooo in love with him! And don't worry, they love wearing frilly dress up and dollies just as much as girls!! My little boys got no chance with two older sisters! I hope your recovering well! Brilliant needs x x

Poppy, I totally understand your melt down! I'm queen of melt downs, it's the end of the world and someone as to pay!!! But deo's right, relax!! You might find it'll flow faster! And drink!!!! And eat!!!! The more he drinks from your boobs you'll release hormones! Skin to skin has more benefit than you realise! It makes you release the hormones you need for feeding! It's still early days too! And how funny with the wee! It took me ages to get used to little boys after two girls. Every time I got peed on!! Every time!!!! Hope hes plumping up nicely!

agnesrose86 · 16/06/2012 16:15

Congratulations blackcat. Glad you and Nicholas are doing well. Are you home now? It's great to hear you were able to have spinal despite having a big bleed and that your partner got there in time. They are my two main fears.

I am 36+5 now. I've been in hospital 5 days and still no bleeding. I feel so ridiculous being here because I'm not ill but I'm not finding it so bad after all. My little boy comes in everyday and seems perfectly happy spending lots of time with his dad and when he comes in we have nice cuddles and watch cbeebies. My section is booked for 26th, so fingers crossed I will get that far and my baby will be a good weight. They estimated he was nearly 7lbs at my 36 week scan but I don't know how accurate that is. Everyone is having boys!

Poppy - hope you and Thomas are doing well.

cmm · 17/06/2012 08:27

Agnes rose - good luck with everything. Had pp this time last year. Hosp from 34 weeks with bleeds. I too have another little one, well she was four nearly five then. She visited every day. It was so hard but like you've read you are in the best place as hopefully they won't be if things do change they need to act fast. It is high risk to them and theyd rather have you close to theatre! I worried I wouldn't have spinal but did have despite starting with another bleed. I had the music i chose! (Michael buble!) and I remember it all and it was so professional and calm despite their concerns. The staff are fantastic. Yes, isn't it strange all the pp babies on this and our thread last year are boys!!!! Take care and post when you have the little one!!! It's such a relief when they're here!! Mine is one this week coming and my little girl 6 in summer xx

Hi
Came home on Wednesday tea time. Loving being a mummy- N is wonderful. We are FF after trying and failing to bf and this is good as H can help too. Had a rocky day yesterday when my milk came in and boobs hurt but settling now. N also dropped his weight by 11% which was concerning because normal is 10, they did bloods and all ok. They insisted on weighing him again today and up 40g so hopefully on the right lines. I think it was those couple of days trying to bf where he got v little that did it.
Agnes Rose- hope the time passes quickly for you
Poppy - how are you and Thomas?
Xxxx

Hi blackcat, congrats on being home and so pleased you love being a mum!!! It feels a million miles away when in hosp with the dreaded pp but now you can start to enjoy being a mum and settling into being a family. Think often the last weeks when you don't have pp or other complications must be starting to get excited but with pp it isn't like that is it! But now you can start to enjoy it all fully!!
Poppy - hope things are ok with you too!
Agnes - keep thinking of holding your little one, not long till you cs xx

ImissMiniPop · 17/06/2012 20:33

Good luck Agnes you're in the best place (although it is hard to think of it like that from your side of the fence :)).

Blackcat Glad you are home, that's just wonderful. Hope you're settling in ok, and glad you love being a Mum.

I can't wait for MiniPop to come home, he's still doing ok but having a little trouble digesting the formula (it makes him sick and also bungs him up a bit, he has to stain to poo) and he hates being tube fed.

He is putting on weight again now, which is good and he's even started taking bottles, despite being so little. It tires him out a bit though, so they don't give him one every feed.

I gave him his first bottle feed the other day, but then moved him too quickly and he threw it all back up - stupid Mummy! :o He gets weighed again tonight, so will find out tomorrow how big he's getting. :)

cmm · 18/06/2012 03:30

Mini pop - just seen a baby today (family friend) who was born at 25 weeks!! The little girl is doing great now though and no probs, very cute. Obviously she was in hosp a while but is perfectly ok now. That's the second little girl I know born at that age which is strange as know it is rare!! She's ok now too xx

ImissMiniPop · 18/06/2012 04:32

Thanks cmm. I like hearing about stories like this, it helps me stay positive :)

deo357 · 18/06/2012 12:47

black cat - when your milk comes in it send your hormones mad so totally normal. & weight wise, he will catch up again, they stressed about my DS weight that he wasnt gaining enough but i insisted on BF even though they wanted me to FF - and of course all was good after 3 weeks !!!!

poppy - feeding them bottle or boob does tire them out, but u will be surprised how they start to love to feed as it give comfort too. cant wait to hear his weight, is he on cpap or anything now ??

deo357 · 26/06/2012 13:49

hello girls how r those babies doing ???
