Just been diagnosed with posterior pp after small bleeds at 24 and 26 weeks. The placenta reaches but doesn't completely cover os.
I have been advised to stop work, pelvic rest, no lifting, pushing supermarket trolley, exercise and to take life very easy.
I have put myself on modified bed rest- spend a lot of time in bed/ sofa but get up to potter about the house and for a short slow gentle walk daily to prevent dvt.
I am really struggling emotionally. This is an ivf baby after 3 years ttc and 2 losses. I am so so scared baby will come very early and be poorly. We were so happy and now it just seems a nightmare.
I'm 27+1 today. Baby seems fine at the moment and oblivious of all the worry it is causing.

How are you doing blackcat? Are you home yet?

I have to say, I may have been totally fed up with being in hospital, but the consultants certainly know their stuff, what they were worried about happening happened.

I was literally in theatre in a matter of minutes.

Bump is doing well, he's off oxygen and can breath on his own, he can maintain his own temp fairytale well.

He's so incredibly tiny, but has put a bit of weight already, and I had my first cuddle tonight :o

I forgot to say, these are very positive signs for firstly 36 hours, but we've a long road ahead.

That's brilliant news. Ds3 was a 32 weeker and had to be ventilated on the second night as his levels went down, but by the time I saw him in the morning he was good and breathing on his own in the tank! He only stayed in there a week, then out into the cot. Gosh this is bringing it all back now. That first cuddle is fantastic. The nurses took photos for me. Looking at it now, I'm so smiley and he's so tiny!

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 30/05/2012 07:24

I cried, I feel so bad disturbing him and he doesn't like it. I don't blame him with all the tubes and wires.

The night time nurse is lovely, and she was really reassuring as I was scared of hurting him. He's special tiny.

Loved my cuddles but feel awful for putting him through all this. X

blacktreaclecat · 30/05/2012 07:40

Hi Poppy
Glad to read your update. Great that he is off oxygen and gaining weight. He is obviously a little fighter! I know it will be a long road for you and there may be a few ups and downs but they can do amazing things these days with preemies and I'm sending all my vibes that by his due date he will be home with you safe and well.
I'm glad you managed a cuddle, that must have been very special.
Don't you dare feel guilty for putting him through this- it isn't your fault! If we could control our placentas we would!
How are you feeling? Try to make the most of bump having the best, kindest, most skilled babysitters ever and get some rest.
Keep updating I'll be thinking of you.
AFM- I came home on Monday afternoon so just back to lying around doing very little. Sometimes sit on a comfy chair in the garden in the sun. Knicker checking constantly brown discharge which is usual after a bleed. Blob is very wriggly.
34+5 here

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 30/05/2012 10:30

34+ 5 is amazing blackcat keep resting up and taking it easy xx

captainbarnacle · 30/05/2012 13:18

No wonder you cried. It's the most emotional thing - much more powerful than the term births with my other two. You haven't put him through this. It's not your fault, ok xx

deo357 · 30/05/2012 20:36

All sounds positive poppy , rest up for him & u will be able 2 be there for him while he grows in size & strength .

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 31/05/2012 03:51

Thanks for the messages :) managed to express almost 1ml last night so that made up almost half his feed. We just need him to start getting bigger and stronger now.

He was having a little bit of a grumble last night, but I managed to settle him a bit with some comfort touching.

I think he can tell it's me even though he's so teeny, he always tries to open his eyes and his eyebrows go up. Or it could be coincidence :o

Poor little mite xxx

blacktreaclecat · 31/05/2012 07:16

Well done on the expressing Poppy.
He will know your voice so know you are mummy.
Hope things keep going in the right direction

I used to express tiny amounts for my little 4lb babe too ! Anything is liquid gold !!!

cmm · 31/05/2012 18:44

You're doing so great!!! Like deo said even small amounts are precious!!!!! How you feeling too? Xx

blacktreaclecat · 03/06/2012 16:31

How is everyone?
Any news on your little boy Poppy? Hope he is doing well.
35+2 here. Yesterday it felt as though the blob was grinding its head into my pelvis/ cervix. It worried me a lot, don't want it engaging and squishing the placenta.
Is 38+6 really late for a pp planned cs? Would really prefer planned to emergency, obviously and wondering if I should be asking for it earlier. I was under a different consultant until 30w (just moved house) and she said my cs would be around 37w?

Hi black treacle, glad you're doing ok and keeping going! I went in hosp at 34 weeks and stayed in until baby four days old, delivered at 38+2 and I was booked following day. They'd originally said 39! Apparently even with pp they like to get you as far as an even if bleeds. I bled every day but as they kept tailing off, eg bright red then slowing to varying shades!!! (sorry tmi!!) then they wanted to keep me in. They were getting jittery as like we know with deo and poppy the bleeds can get worse and they have to act quick, or some people dont bleed at all. Anyway, te morning before I was booked I was in my side room and started proper bleed again so they put me into theatre that morning but it was still fairly calm though.
So you can still get to a later date with a pp!! Also they told me the nice guidelines have changed and they prefer after 38 now. Hope this helps. You're doing great, keep resting! Is it your first? X

agnesrose86 · 03/06/2012 20:23

RhiannonElward, I'd love to know how you are doing as my situation is very similar to yours. I am 35 weeks pregnant tomorrow with complete anterior previa. I have had no bleeding at all but I am being admitted to hospital next Monday (when I am 36 weeks) until my c-section at 38 weeks. I feel really worried about being in hospital, I also have a two year old son. I have never been away from him for longer than two nights and I'm not sure how we are both going to cope. How has it been for you? Do you have any tips to help me get through it? I hope you and your baby are well, and everyone else who is going through this.

Coppernoddle · 03/06/2012 21:09

A86, I had posteria pp, only had very light bleeds, and they said I was going to be admitted too, but in the end they left me at home on 24 hour watch! As I didn't have any major bleeds, I lived 10 mins from hospital. But don't worry if you are, I know it seems like a very long time, but in the grand scene of things, it's for the better and little one will forget fairly quickly! We ladle ourselves with too much guilt and forget about the bigger picture!!

Blacktreacle, your doing very well!!! Take this time to watch as many trashy movies and novels as you possibly can to take your mind off it!! Maybe get a lovely pampering kit and make the most of your days!! I know it's easier said than done but give it a go! Anything to make the days go faster and more pleasurable is always a bonus!

agnesrose86 · 03/06/2012 21:36

Thanks Coppernoddle. I think I just feel really scared about the whole thing. It's really great to see other women, even those who have had big bleeds and early c-sections, are doing fine and their babies are fine.

ImissMiniPop · 03/06/2012 21:51

a86 try not to worry about going into hospital, I know that's easier said than done, and I was so fed up being in there for three weeks, but it really was the best place. If something does happen then they can act upon it really quickly. The advice I was given was take lots of books/kindle/magazines, I learnt to crochet and finished off my knitting. Get into a routine, and line up lots of visitors. and watch trashy daytime TV. Buy nice PJs too :) they really do help. I also had my laptop, which helped keep in touch with everyone.

Baby bump is a week old tomorrow :) he's doing ok so far, but we need him to put on some weight, so please can you all add him to your prayers and send him positive thoughts.

Everyone told me this, but he really is worth everything I've been through. I just can't wait for him to get better and come home :)

cmm · 04/06/2012 00:38

A86 luke you prob read I was in hosp for those long 5 weeks, have a little girl, she was 4 then, won't deny it was hard but definitely best when I was bleeding, you're on hand for theatre so quickly. I got into a routine after I eventually tried to stop fighting it and resign myself to being in there. Hosp is so structured too. Used to get breakfast, then sit with coffee and read mag till dr ward round after nine each day, then went for a shower if I was able or cleansed toned my face, basically got lots of facial products and asked people to bring samples to try! Never felt my skin was ever better! Then nap or reading on bed till lunch, then had visitors, then evening meal and visitor then cleansing etc before bed and nighttime drink. I often napped during the day as I didn't sleep as well at night, seemed to get lots of tightenings at night and more monitoring incase going to labour. The thing that made a lot of difference for me was moving to a side room on my own, try for that if so, pps do mess with your head and having the personal space for you alone and when visitors there was important. It was hubby's birthday one night sp he brought an Indian takeaway in one night too! Xx

Coppernoddle · 04/06/2012 08:47

Imissminipop, hope little one is doing well! How early was LO born? Sending all my positive thoughts your way x x x x

blacktreaclecat · 04/06/2012 12:52

Another bleed here. 4.30am. 7 hours so far on labour ward on ctg but seems to be settling so being admitted. Just had lunch and have been told I should hopefully get a side room. Fingers crossed.
Fed up.

Copper He was born at 30+2, and he's a week old today :) and has put on some weight :) yay! We're very pleased about that.

Blackcat :( sorry to read that, glad it seems to be settling, and fingers crossed you get a side room, that'll be nice. :) Why do they always happen during the early hours?!?? Is your DH with you? sending you lots of hugs and non-fed-up-vibes. You're almost there, 35+3 is brilliant. Thinking of you x x x

blacktreaclecat · 04/06/2012 16:18

Glad he is gaining weight Poppy that is great.
Well on ward and yes have a side room. Still spotting red blood though. Feeling quite scared and tearful for some reason.
