Just been diagnosed with posterior pp after small bleeds at 24 and 26 weeks. The placenta reaches but doesn't completely cover os.
I have been advised to stop work, pelvic rest, no lifting, pushing supermarket trolley, exercise and to take life very easy.
I have put myself on modified bed rest- spend a lot of time in bed/ sofa but get up to potter about the house and for a short slow gentle walk daily to prevent dvt.
I am really struggling emotionally. This is an ivf baby after 3 years ttc and 2 losses. I am so so scared baby will come very early and be poorly. We were so happy and now it just seems a nightmare.
I'm 27+1 today. Baby seems fine at the moment and oblivious of all the worry it is causing.

I think feeling scared and tearful is completely normal blackcat, based on my experience. I just felt scared all the time, of what exactly I do not know, as it really is the best place to be, and I cried on a daily basis. I was (and still am) an emotional wreck. I cried because it's so unfair, because I was worried for Bump, worried for me, because I was fed up, because I was sick of bleeding, you name it I cried about it :)

Nothing I can say will make you feel any better, I know, but sending you lots of hugs and you're in my thoughts as I know this is a really tough time.

I went to the hospital today to see Bump, and he's so small and tiny but I love him to bits and I'd go through it all again, I love him to bits.

Rest up and take care x x x x

Poppy, you explain pp so well. It's so hard and emotionally difficult. Reading your texts brings it all back but like you say once you get your baby it is worth it but just the most horrid experience. My nan is on hosp and was at first on ward opposite where I was for five weeks and it brought it all back. poppy, will keep you and your little one in our prayers.
Treacle, we all understand and are rooting for you. It is scary and just horrid bleeding. All the ctgs, cannulas, bloods every three data, anti clotting injections in your stomach etc, they are constant reminders. I also had loads of tightenings and felt like the head was pushing down but it's so scary as you obviously don't want to go into labour with a pp! Like poppy said though, it really is better to be in there. When you bleed they can act so quick.
Take every day and even hour as it comes and cry if you need to. All the midwives agreed afterwards that it's the worst condition to have emotionally and physically. Thank goodness though for modern medicine. You're doing great and every day your baby is getting a little more stronger xx

blacktreaclecat · 05/06/2012 08:38

Hi
I'm sure Blob will be worth it all in the end. But I am really struggling. I just feel so out of control and am terrified. Wish I could fast forward time.
I'm glad your little Bump is doing so well though Poppy, great news.

Blacktc, it absolutely is worth every second of complete hell that little person you are creating!!! When you've given it your all and you get to how ever far you get, that little one will take over and the love you have for him/ her will be immense!!!!! Even more so with what you've been through!!! You keep baby in there for as long as you can, then when the day comes, it'll be a weight lifted and you can concentrate on being a mother x x it'll be amazing!!

blacktreaclecat · 06/06/2012 18:46

Hi
Deo- Airedale in Yorkshire.
Well saw my consultant today and I'm in until delivery......on Monday at 36+3! So we just need to stay out of trouble for 4 days. A bit stunned. Had a scan today and a decent est weight of 6lb6. Although not that accurate and long legs we are hoping for 6lb ish.
Fingers crossed for a v boring 4 days
Poppy how are you and bump?

Good luck treacle, keep crossing off the days, 6lb would be good! My little girl was that full term and my little boy was 6,8 with the previa. I know it is scary and boring but you're almost there and being there means they can get you immediately into theatre. Take care xx
Poppy - hoes things with your little one and you?

ImissMiniPop · 06/06/2012 19:05

Oh wow, blackcat that's great news. 4 days is not long at all. and 6.6lbs is a good weight from my limited experience. At least you have a few days to get used to the idea and get excited about meeting your little one. Here's to a very uneventful 4 days for you :o
Thinking of you. :)

Bump is doing well, he's out of HDU and was moved to SCBU today, he's managed to put on some weight (3.3lb now) and he's only on one monitor how, which is reassuring, but he's still so teeny tiny.

He has a brain can this week, so fingers crossed that doesn't uncover anything :(

thanks for all the thoughts, they are all very appreciated. :)

xx

Coppernoddle · 06/06/2012 21:43

Minioop, all my fingers crossed for you! Soooooo glad he's put on some weight!! And that's such good news that's he's moved to scbu and only on one monitor! Sending all my thoughts to you poppy, must be a very stressful time for you x x x x x

Btc, good news for you too!!! 4 more days!!! And what a weight! Well done!!! There must be more working in there than what you think there is with all your episodes! Well done!! And not long till you meet your little one, and introduce your siblings! What a special time you'll have x x

blacktreaclecat · 07/06/2012 01:59

Introduce siblings? Blob is our first and will be our only. Never going through this again!
Hope the scan goes well Poppy.
Trying to work out what to expect with a 36 weeker.

ImissMiniPop · 07/06/2012 10:46

Blackcat my friend's baby was born at 35 weeks, he was 7lb and absolutely perfect. He had to go into special care for a few days to sunbath because of Jaundice and he had a little trouble feeding, but apart from that (and being a bit smaller in general) he's absolutely fine. :)

I have to say, I said the same thing about never going through it again but he's so perfect to me that I think I probably would do it again (my DP may disagree though, he's not designed to cope with all this stress). Blush Baby Bump is worth it though.

Just need to find a flat to rent really quickly before Bump gets out Confused as ours is too small and mouldy.

blacktreaclecat · 07/06/2012 13:41

Hope you find something soon Poppy. Moving with Bump in scbu sounds stressful!
I'm an only and love it so have always just wanted one. It isn't just the pp and generally rubbish pg, it is the last 3 years of heartbreak. Looking forward to putting it all behind us and enjoying being a family, albeit a small family.
Just about to go for my cs preassessment. Have bf counsellor and scbu person coming to see me this afternoon too. Busy!

fab news blacktc, be prepared that if u have a big bleed over the weekend they might just do it early. lol - re: the one child , u may change your mind after u have a beautiful blob !!! cant wait to her the news. you may be ok with a 36 weeker , possibly no probs at all, ive had 2 36 weekers , one was fine , one was in scbu for 2 weeks & my 32 weeker was in scbu for 2 weeks too, so u can never tell.
poppy - thats great news, its all progress, wont be long & he will be home & have u a name yet !?!?

ImissMiniPop · 08/06/2012 11:10

No name yet deo, we're stuck between two (or should I say Daddy is stuck between two!!) :o

blackcat how did the cs preassessment go? Hope the bf stuff and scbu chat went well. How are you feeling today? not long to go now. x x

blacktreaclecat · 08/06/2012 16:59

Hi
Reassessment was good. I'm happy that I've only gained 1.5 stone during pg. The anaesthetist was very reassuring and made me less worried about the spinal.
The scbu lady was also fairly reassuring. She said at 36+3 the chance of blob ending up there is not much higher than for a term baby. It is more likely to be on the ward with me. It will be on the hypoglycaemia pathway so needs 3 hourly feeds and blood sugar checks. Other potential problems are temperature but they have a hot cot they can use. Or it may need oxygen because cs babies don't get the gunk squished out of them.
With her bf hat on though she scared me to death. I'm really nervous about bf and had a total meltdown on H last night. Anyway I'm going to give it a go with the aim of colostrum. Then we'll see but have sent H to asda for formula supplies. Feel a bit better for being prepared.
Anyone else more scared of bf than of the cs?
Poppy my friend took 6 weeks to name her baby girl, take your time

if it's any reassurance about breastfeeding I had to hand express colostrum into feeding syringes, to feed to Bump, it was literally 0.4ml at first then I managed to get it up to 1ml then 2ml by the time I left hospital. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to stress as that makes it worse, and hospitals are really geared up for helping you breastfeed. Great that baby may be iwth you on the ward, and yes I heard that too - cs babies don't get the mucus squidged out of them like then do with a normal birth, but lots of babies sick this up apparently (or so I heard the MWs tell people! :))

We have a name - at last - Thomas :o

He's still doing ok, but was really really sleepy today. Just completely out of it, which was abit unusual. So the nurses did his blood gasses and they were fine, so just being a worried new Mum Blush.

Had some more cuddles today, he's stopped putting on weight, so they're giving him some extra vitamins and other stuff to help. I just wish he'd get bigger and stronger. I know it takes time though.

deo357 · 08/06/2012 21:50

ahh thomas - lovely - he is doing very well & sometimes they haveoff days , dont worry.

blackTC - ive had 6 cs sections ! & yes the problem can be the mucusnot getting squidged out as u say - sometimes takes 24hours

as 4 the breast feeding every mum & every baby is different i find, all my babies have been different & i ve dont different according to the babies be it, too hungry, too long feeders & like no 6, perfect & i didnt want to stop !!! so go with the flow & have no expectations & dont feel guilty one way or another, happy baby equals happy mum !!!

blacktreaclecat · 09/06/2012 01:04

Thomas is a lovely name :) My best mates LO is called Thomas (Tom) he is a sweetie.
Hope he has a better day tomorrow
BF- I'll give it a go and aim to get the colostrum in. After that we'll see.
2.5 sleeps to go (pg insomnia!)

I'm also awake too, but that's because I have been given a different expressing plan to try and up my milk output. Every two hours during the day, once at 1am then again at 7am confused my poor boobs hurt so much and they're really not refilling!

Have to try this approach over the weekend and if it doesn't work they'll give me a letter for some medication to help...!

Not long now black cat :) xx

deo357 · 09/06/2012 09:53

I used 2 express 2 hourly & 3 thru the night . R u using an electric pump ? It will come . I was very I'll after cs as u prob already know , but I got there in the end it took a while to get going . I never took the meds either in the end . 1am til 7 is very long to leave it . I would pump 15 mins each boob .

deo357 · 09/06/2012 09:54

Oh and r u drinking lots & eating that affects things as I couldn't eat either so had to force myself

Coppernoddle · 09/06/2012 16:09

Congratulations on th name! I love the name Thomas! Hope he's doing a little better now!

Bc, couldn't say anything more about the bf! Eat heaps, drink heaps, and don't stress!! 3 most important things!!!
