Hi all, no news, just marking my place.

Beccus · 14/05/2012 20:21

Yomping, i am getting over my cold, at last. Dont feel bad for taking the day off. I also hate taking sick days off and thought I'd challenge myself to see if i could get through the whole pregnancy without taking a day off. But i had such a rough nite last wednesday i took Thursday off, and also felt guilty, but it was definitely the right thing to do and has helped me get better quicker that had i soldiered on and gone in. Your bean will thank u for it.
Oooh, movements and scans are all exciting....1st baby, 17+4, so I think I have a little longer to wait.
lol at milk's bum tum :)

HampdenMum · 14/05/2012 20:33

Hi All,
I've been lurking for a while but got a genuine niggle and would love some advice / support.

Ive noticed this last week or so red marking on my left boob (to the right of my nipple and in the middle of my chest when wearing a maternity bra and my boobs are well supported / pushed closer together.). It isnt really a rash as such and def not stretch marks. It doesnt hurt or itch just a bit funny coloured. The texture of my boobs is very firm not loose or saggy and my boobs actually look the best they have for ages!
Should I be worried? Is this normal in pregnancy (18 weeks)? is this a symptom of anything else and has anyone else experienced anything similar?

I plan to see GP next week if it doesnt go off but thought I would put it out there before hand to see if anyone has tips.

MrsConfusion · 14/05/2012 21:40

Evening all,
gucci, great to here there's another F1 fan in the group! I'm hoping this season stays as good as it's been so far, should see us through the pregnancies with regular Sunday entertainment - and a reason to sit on the sofa for a few hours every few weeks...

Hope all those with colds shake them off soon and bumps keep growing. Mine suddenly seems bigger (particularly by the end of the day ? anyone else change shape massively from morning to night?), so had a cull in the wardrobe on Sunday which was very cathartic. Maternity clothes purchases here so far consist only of bras and tights, haven't been able to find anything in my size in the (very few) shops with maternity sections round here. May need to resort to internet...

yomping there?s nothing wrong with being a control-freak. I am in charge of arranging the books in the house and DH does the CDs ? total chaos ensues if we each interfere with the others? systems!

squid hope you?re feeling a bit better about the scan now. Mine?s not until 23rd but am really nervous, and totally understand the fears about C-section. There?s plenty of time for things to move so don?t fret yourself too much.

I am very impressed at how far ahead you all are with birth planning and buggies and things ? am I the only one who doesn?t know anything yet beyond vague notions? We?ve been offered a travel system/car seat from my cousins ? which is great ? but it is 8 years old ? is that going to be a problem? I?m not sure how quickly these things date, especially safety features. Apparently it?s a Britax Ultra Travel System, any of you ladies who have been researching got any info on it?

In less stressed news, shallwedance I've been feeling very faint feelings too, bubbles is a good description, really hope it is the baby saying hello Smile.

Guccigirl79 · 14/05/2012 22:22

Yomping we've booked to go to Pineda in Costa Brava for a week,I would've loved to have further afield but dont think I'll be able to face it by then ( I'll be around 26wks)

Hampdenmum I'm afraid I cant help with your dilemma so I'm absolutely no help to you whatsoever!!

Mrsconfusion I know!! Wasn't yesterday a turn up for the books??!! What a lovely result for Williams after such a long time, though sadly it didnt last, did you hear about the fire they had in their garage where several mechanics had to go to hospital?? Such a shame Sad

Well,I think I have made some progress on the pushchair front tonight Grin providing the height is ok for lanky DP I think we will go for the Britax B-Smart I've noticed that Mothercare have it with some money off so that helps & we've decided we will only get the car seat to go with it & not bother with the carry cot option, but as I'm going to the babyshow Saturday I'm hoping it will be even cheaper there!!!

Zoeplankton · 15/05/2012 11:26

Bump feels big and weird today. I don't completely like it.

Roll on the bit where I'm used to this...

MrsConfusion · 15/05/2012 13:25

I know what you mean Zoe, I keep being taken by suprise when I see myself in the mirror, suddenly actually looking quite pregnant... I tend to forget when sitting at the desk unless I'm looking down!

LoopyLa · 15/05/2012 14:40

Hey all

I'm still here just been to busy to post or even lurk Sad

I shall try to catch up with everyone's news ASAP but really marking my spot for the time being Smile

lisbethsopposite · 15/05/2012 17:16

HamdenMum - sounds like a blocked duct, google it. It is possible because our boobs are producing cholestrum by now - even though we don't see it.
Careful with the bras. Blocked ducts are not a big deal but I had mastitis (during breastfeeding) and it is the sickest I have ever been in my life.

MrsConfusion Don't look a gift horse.... Britax is a good brand. Accept and if it works out you'll be saved loads of expense and hassel.

nenehooo · 15/05/2012 17:29

Wrote a big long post about feeling my baby move at 4am and just lost it!!! Aargh!!!
Have been very unsociable lately as I literally haven't had time to read post so finally caught up this morning. So...
Shallwedance bubbles are the baby - have been mistaking my baby for wind for ages... Oops!!!
Gucci and mrs - I'm also a f1 fan, almost cried when they announced the sky changeover last year (and tried to convince ourselves we needed sky - we don't Sad) GREAT season so far.
Yomping - wanna do some reports for me?! Please?! Yay for you getting them done!
And angelico - just saying hi - it's nearly gemini season, yay!!! Hello to all newbies and oldies Grin I've missed x

Kyyria · 15/05/2012 19:04

Evening ladies Smile
Not really got much to say - struggling to keep eyes open and back is horrendously sore - thinking about having an early night!
Hope everyone else is well

31, 16+2, #1

YompingJo · 15/05/2012 19:14

LisbethsOpposite, Happy Birthday, hope you had a good day!

ZoePlankton, ROFL at this: Roll on the bit where I'm used to this... - I reckon I could say that about every single new symptom/inconvenience/terrifying realisation of this pregnancy so far - and then when I AM used to it, there have been at least 5 new things crop up that I am NOT used to!

ShallWeDance, I agree with nenehooo that the bubbles feeling is the baby. My 'bubbles' started very subtly last week, could only notice it when lying down in bed, but today have been feeling it all day and bean is currently going crazy, think it might be high on all the chocolate I have eaten today must just be feeling like getting its groove on today!

Gucci, sounds fab, bet you can't wait!

Beccus · 15/05/2012 21:00

Kyrria, i have been tired all day, too and am giving up now and going to bed like a nana...even though it's still nice and light and this time last year i would have been enjoying the long days somewhere with a white wine.
Anyone else noticed cankles yet? Mine are definitely expanding, and i do not approve! Hopefullly they will deflate in the morning like our bumps do :)

MickeyTheShortOne · 15/05/2012 21:28

Hi everyone. Thanks for all the well wishes on my shit week. My great grandad was moved into a residential home as he has alzheimers and my nan cannot look after him anymore as she is 86 herself! Was just generally crap as I was the first one to visit and the entire family have put off going because they are too scared he will get upset with them... and yes I jyst generally have been very annoyed and grumpy and upset. All the others in the home just look so unwell and Grandad still looks as fit as a fiddle. Its depressing really but I have come to realise that it is probably the best place for him... Anyway. Been very traumatic :(

On good news though, I can officially feel my bean moving!!!!! The only way I can describe it is as wind. it feels like wind! But I'm so happy :) Amazed how early it was but it is all becoming real now, and I know that its still in there :D I thought I felt a kick earlier but it was very high up in my belly so I'm not sure.. and i had a big fart after
boy has been away since yesterday morning and i miss him :( but he is coming back tomorrow so thats good.

Anyone found any cheap maternity leggings? I Can't find any!

Hope you are all welll, lots of love to you all! x

MickeyTheShortOne · 15/05/2012 21:30

oh, i forgot my stats,
20, 14+5, crazy moving belly, DC1.

MickeyTheShortOne · 15/05/2012 21:30

P.S. Am so jealous of those that have hit 20 weeks and are having scans soon- mine feels like ages away!

FjordMor · 15/05/2012 21:51

Hello all :-)

Haven't been posting for a while as have been having horrendous problems with the teen from hell since just before the weekend. Felt like much Wine but didn't...

Anyway all is looking a bit better this week and I have my first midwife appt tomorrow!!! :) :) :) at last!!!!! Also got my 20 week scan appt today through for next Tues, 22nd May :) :) - so lots of reasons to be cheerful, even though I've convinced myself there can't be a baby in there anymore (despite my grand size Hmm).

I felt the bubbles thing back at around 15/16 weeks most nights but haven't at all since. I did feel something in bed while on my left side the other night - like a giant hiccup - like my whole belly did a seismic shift! DP was spooning me and also felt it (said to him it felt like someone just shot me Confused). Other than that, just vague feelings when I press hard on my left under-belly that might be like little feet treading water Sad. Occasionally feel a funny 'rising' feeling from mid tummy like a palpitation but rising quickly from my belly button up to my throat (not gastric) - like the 'bubbles' but moving in that direction. I'm grasping at straws I know Sad. Still, trying to take heart that many women don't feel much until 21 weeks+ and I'm only 19+2 (I think - losing track). However :) seems uterus has moved up near my belly button if change of belly is anything to go by (not much down below, now more around and over belly button and 'growing pains' on left) so I should be feeling more once baby's up there - right?

Still getting up at least 4 times in the night to pee Sad...bladder seems to only hold about a teaspoonful at once and londonlivvy - yes, I'm finding it very hard to stay on my left side - wake up on my back and if I manage to stay on my left side, get shoulder pain and carpal tunnel numbness that wakes me. Think I'm going to have to start wearing pajamas & sew a ping pong ball into the back of them...
Going to try and catch up with all your posts properly now. However, Happy Birthday lisbethopposite and Beccus - yes, sporting a pair of cankles if not enough 'feet up' - and they fairly swiftly resolve on 'feet up' (thank god!) :).

No sexes from 20 week scans yet?

gigglewizz · 15/05/2012 23:14

Hi all, still here, good to see everyone still enthusiastic and doing well.
MICKEY hope your grandad settles and you can feel less stressed!
FJORDMOR enjoy a Wine if you need to I know teens can be difficult!
And the carpal tunnel who would have guessed it would start so early? I am also getting it and it's waking me up too.

Anyone disturbed by turning over in bed and hearing their pelvis cracking? My symptom of the week it seems, been walking more slowly and trying to get up from chairs and the car with my knees together and swivelling so that it doesn't get worse.

Is anyone going for VBAC or got any advice? My obstetrician wants me to forget about a repeat c-section (last one was emergency) and I thought it was a done deal to get another one but no they want me to try and then if not working give me c-section. All which I am really keen to avoid as last time was 20 something hrs labour and then c-section and I really felt like I was trying to recover from two extremely tiring experiences.

Anyway off to sleep and hopefully keep my hubby up with MY snoring, another interesting new 'symptom' ha ha!

Londonmrss · 16/05/2012 12:00

Mickey, you're feeling movements?! That's so early, I'm really jealous! I'm 16 + 5 and desperate to start feeling something happening in there...

londonlivvy · 16/05/2012 12:11

Yay for everyone who's getting to feel movement. That's fab. I'm 16 weeks tomorrow so no chance of movements yet I think! (my sympathies LondonMrsS). Cervix scan today and consultant tomorrow to find out if my cervix is indeed incompetent (or not). Am trying to remain calm but really am quite stressed about it. The more I read (yes, yes, I KNOW that google is not pregnant woman's friend) the more I find that the "quick stitch" that the consultant referred to isn't quite as simple as he made out. Very much hoping all is ok and not required after all.

Other than that, I've been stressed about our flat sales with endless people visiting boyf's flat but no offers and the survey on my flat due tomorrow (hopefully there will be nothing awful wrong with it). Fingers crossed for me please ladies. I want a house. But more than that I want somewhere away from this godawful flight path. Being woken up at 430am every fricking day by the aircraft is doing my head in. I have earplugs and can sometimes get back to sleep but cos I'm worrying so much about everything it's hard and I need all the sleep I can get at the moment.

SIGH.

Sorry to be the moaner. In more positive news, bump is looking more bump-like and less I-had-a-curry-like. Yay.

Mickey that does sound like a stressful week indeed. I hope he settles in quickly.

Fjordmor yay re midwife appointment. Do let us know how it goes - intrigued to know whether the norwegians are like the french and like a good close-up or like the brits and just take blood tests!

LoopyLa · 16/05/2012 13:35

I'm so Envy at everyone feeling movement - 16+3 and not a sausage here!!

Who was it who had an all too intimate fanjo check?! I've actually been offered an internal scan with my next ultrasound to check the health of the cervix, etc. Initially, I was but we're going to end up having fuck all no dignity whatsoever when it comes to labour so may as well embrace that side of things early! Hmm Blush

HaggisNeepsTatties · 16/05/2012 14:49

Hi everyone,

I've been quiet recently - busy at work and was away for a hen do at the weekend...was good fun but exhausting. We did a spa day and then cocktail making before going out for dinner. They were really good at the cocktail making and had some lovely virgin cocktails. I was the only sober one though and after the multiple bottles of prosecco at the meal it really felt like it! I bailed at aboutr 11.30 (along with the Bride to be!) while everyone else went out dancing. While I was away the bump seemed to balloon. Got home and DH said "Bloody Hell, you've grown". Charming! I went in a bit of a strop with him for being so insensitive.

In baby news I'm really not sure if I've felt any movement. Sometimes I think I do, but then I realise that I also have REALLY bad wind and it's most likely that. I'm 19 + 1 now so hoping for something more definative any day now.

Getting more uncomfortable at night...I've been doing really well at sleeping on my left side (thanks to my Thermaline pillow) but now I'm finding I'm waking up after a couple of hours and my left hip is sore/numb/tingly. Have taken to propping another thin pillow under my hip which is helpping a bit, but not completely.

My skin has also gone completely hormonal - what happened to "blooming" I've got raised bumps and whiteheads all over my cheeks. Anyone else suffering and found any products that help?

In other news we're getting a new kitchen at the moment. It's going to be amazing when it's done, but at the moment my house is just messy and dusty and resembling a building site. It's also not helping keep the weight gain manageable because we're eating out every night!

Squid Gingerdoodle and any one else that has had 20 week scans congratulations! Mine is on 28th May so a week on Monday...can't wait!

Willowtree Welcome!

YompingJo well done on reports and hope that you're feeling better now?

LondonLivvy hope the survey on your place goes ok!

Over half way through the week now! Hurray.

19 & 1, DC#1, 33

PS - really hoping that labour isn't quite this quick!!!!

Zoeplankton · 16/05/2012 15:29

Had my 20 week scan! Everything fine.

GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Apparently I've got a wriggly, wriggly, wriggly bubba, but my placenta is chocked up against the front of my belly, and that's why I haven't felt anything. The placenta's in the way.

We saw little lips and a little nose! It was fantastic.

I have to go back for a cervical length test in a couple of weeks, as I had CIN3 (that's 'bad but not cancer - yet') cells removed from my cervix last year. God bless the NHS, truly. If I was American... well it doesn't bear thinking about, does it? Suffice to say I doubt I'd be in line for a free cervical length test 'just in case'.

Anyhow when they remove CIN cells from the cervix there is (this sounds dumb now that I think about it) less cervix left, so, hopefully I've got enough to work with.

Speaking of, emmy are you still around? I've been thinking about you. If you get super-bored in bed and think 'hm, I fancy developing a new skill set for my Fabulous Career' or somesuch ping me - I work in elearning malarkey and can send you in the direction of the good (free) stuff, no bother. There's lots of top resources (and accreditation!) available online for capable adults with time on their hands.

Tonight we are taking the little envelope with the gender in it to our favourite restaurant and opening it over a glass of bubbles! Very excited!

milk · 16/05/2012 15:30

HaggisNeepsTatties- my face skin is also hormonal :( Also the skin on my hands have become really dry :(

LoopyLa- I only started feeling movements at week 18/19. With DS I felt kicks at 15 weeks so I was annoyed with DC2 kept quiet for so long :P

As for me... I have submitted my last uni assignment of the year Grin and my scan is tomorrow at 4pm Grin and I will find out what gender the baby is Grin I'm going out for dinner tomorrow night so can only inform you ladies in the evening so please don't worry if you don't hear from me. I feel so blessed to be pregnant, so I honestly don't mind what gender the baby is, but I am so curious to find out anyway! - if it is a girl I finally have an excuse to buy cute little dresses, and if it is a boy I can buy DS loads of new toys as they will be an investment as DS2 would also play with them :) Basically I just love shopping Grin

Londonmrss · 16/05/2012 16:09

Happy news Zoe! You must be thrilled. Hope your cervix test is equally reassuring.
