We're all anxiously waiting new from CWest30 - hope everything went well with the scan today.

Bought first maternity clothes this weekend as couldn't stand the digging-in any longer. I loved squidkids little bump, mine is much all over rounder (not helped by being a bit overweight before the pregnancy started).

Had my first pregnancy wobble last week. On tuesday I was traveling on a train and I had this feeling that I had wet my pants (trousers were def. damp). I was a bit worried but at a conference so no chance to check with the doctor - figured that if there was no more leakage then I was probably OK. Then on Friday I had a big (sorry TMI) sticky, mucous like discharge and freaked out that I was loosing my mucus plug. Again - was traveling so wasn't able to check the google until I reached the airport lounge. Had to use those banks of computers that are not very private - I pity the poor person who saw me googling '17 weeks pregnant discharge' into the search engine. Anyway - I reckon that the discharge was either leucorrhoea or the after effects of the lovin' that DH and I enjoyed the previous evening! Wink. Anyway, managed to freak DH out in the process and everything has been fine over the weekend.

Sorry for the long post but I'm a first timer and it seems that there is quite a lot that they don't tell you!

Hello peeps,
My colleague informed me today he would be covering some of the work I had been doing - like it was a done deal. I rang our boss who said there had been no such discussion, my job was unchanged. He thinks he can just elbow me out of the way. Thank God I am in a unionised job - boss would not entertain favoritism so I will not be treated unfairly. However, if I choose to step aside, that would be my own business. Later in day he asked me to do something trivial as he had to leave, he acts like I am his junior/assistant. I told him I hadn't time. I also told him I thought he was being high handed - I don't mean to sweat it but I would be a wimp to let him push me around.
I don't want an open fight or bad feeling/atmosphere, but HE IS NOT my senior/manager.
I'm going looking at Asos. He is not going to live 'rent-free' in my head.

Squid best of luck in your campaign.
Happy shopping everyone else Smile

lisbethsopposite · 30/04/2012 21:07

I just realised I've missed loads of posts - don't know what I was reading.

To anyone with a social life - going to open air concerts, meeting friends in the evening, cooking a meal for friends - I congratulate you. My battery is flat after 7pm. I could go to bed with DS.

Fjord sounds like things have gotten better.

Zoe was it your DS advice that any problem that will resolve spontaneously without action is a good problem? Good advice, think I will take that on board.

CWest hope you're just tired and the news is good ...

CWest30 · 30/04/2012 21:15

WOOP WOOP WOOP

As probably the last one to have my 12 wk scan, I am estatic to announce that all went well and our lil squib is absolutely fine :o They moved my dates forward a few days, so I'm now 13+1 instead of 12+4, but it feels good to know that I'm already over a week into the second trimester!

Scan itself was simply incredible, as it always is! Baby didnt move much at first so I had to cough to make it turn over so the lady could measure the skin at the back of the neck. But after that. baby was rolling and stretching, at one point it even pushed up so it looked as if it was standing haha.
We were there for what felt like ages, and got some great pics! Is it me, or have the pics become a lot clearer since I last did this 5 yrs ago?

Anyway, the world now knows, thanks to facebook lol. I think Im up to 62 "likes" and 54 comeents of congrats on my pic. What lovely people I know. Just so so happy right now, thanks for all your messages too ladies, now lets bring on trimester 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xxx

Midgetm · 30/04/2012 22:27

Phew, congratulations CWest, that's a full house now then. Let's have a Wine or two

Midgetm · 30/04/2012 22:28

Ps been out all day at work and then after and now could weep I am so tired so it's all a front....

YompingJo · 01/05/2012 06:52

Yay CWest Grin Glad to hear your good news and to see you sounding so happy after you were so worried.

Lisbeths, guy sounds like a dick. Give him hell!

Velo, you're super calm, that would have terrified me. Glad things seem to be OK.

Due in October 2012 party, anyone?

milk · 01/05/2012 07:26

So now the last member has had her 12 week scan, who is the first to have their 20 week scan?

Mine is on Thursday 17th May :)

CWest30 · 01/05/2012 07:54

well they said I could have my 20 wk scan on 26th June, but dammit we away so its gotta be after that now. :-( Feels like ages away lol but thats fine, we should be feeling movements soon anyway! x

milk · 01/05/2012 08:12

CWest30- With DS I felt frequent movements/kicks from 15 weeks. With this baby, I am now 18 weeks and I have barely felt a thing. I even went to the birth centre to put the doppler on me to make sure the baby was still all right. The midwife told me some babies move more than others.

milk · 01/05/2012 08:12

CWest30, going anywhere nice? :)

Midgetm · 01/05/2012 08:13

Mines 6th June I think. Can't wait as telling dd then. Telling my team today.

DameFlatYouLent · 01/05/2012 10:36

Hi all and huge congrats CWest! Huge sigh of a relief that we're all past that post now.

My 20 week scan is on 21st May. My uterus is still somewhere round my pubic bone, which is weirdly low, but I'm feeling loads of movements all the time which is fab Grin I felt DS really early too - I think it can have something to do with whether the placenta is anterior or posterior. And possibly to do with the fact that I seem to have hyperactively wriggly babies Hmm I remember last time, at one point, thinking that DS was actually going to by-pass labour and actually just come bursting out of the front of my tummy, alien-style.

Good to see you back, FjordMor! Sorry you've had a stressful time, but hooray for early scans in Norway, even if they're dating you wrong!

Lisbeth can't believe you have to work with such a tool! Sounds like you're handling it well though, and with a good attitude. Stick to your guns and maybe try "delegating" some work in his direction!! Wink

Glad all is well, velo - that sounded alarming.

Beeble unlucky with the sneezes! It's pretty touch & go with me at the best of times - I imagine as I get bigger my pelvic floor is going to give up totally. I may have to lie down every time I sneeze to give it the best chance!

I'm not sleeping well again at the moment, so am going to grab the opportunity while DS naps to get my head down.

Zara1984 · 01/05/2012 11:20

YAY! So glad CWest has had her scan! Wooo! :) We're all officially in the second trimester now!

lisbeth your colleague is a massive nob.

Fjord there is a Swedish company called Boob Hmm that does maternity and breastfeeding wear. Is is a bit pricey but they often have sale stuff it appears? Just wondering if that might be a better option for you given what you've said about shipping charges (maybe less custom charges between Sweden and Norway?)?

So cheerful and feeling not very productive this morning - my boss just came in and told me his wife is pregnant, about 2 weeks behind me! She's 40+ and they've been doing IVF I think, so that is really good news. No wonder he was so nice when I told him weeks ago! Even though I have never met this woman I am feeling very excited for her! :)

Also on the topic of work is anyone else thinking about when they will start mat leave? In my head I have decided the last Friday in September and I am actually counting down the weeks.... and the days (102 work days now Blush )....

My Maclaren XLR I bought on eBay turned up at the end of last week - structurally it's in very good nick, hood and wheels are great, but the harness and seat has got some annoying tears. It looks almost like a Jack Russell had a go at part of it?! Confused I'm going to try and see if I can buy some replacement bits online.

Also booked a short trip (4 nights!) to Sardinia in late July - hopefully a nice sunny relaxing break with nice food before I get too big! :)

LondonMrsS · 01/05/2012 13:30

V happy to hear good news from CWest. Happy we've all survived the first trimester, and sad for the few people who left the group in the first few weeks due to sad news.
Will only be 19 weeks by my next scan at the end of this month. We're hoping to find out gender so we can stop talking about 'it'' and start using a different pronoun.

Hugs to all :)

londonlivvy · 01/05/2012 13:40

oh YAY Cwest so delighted that scan went well.

Can't believe your 20 week is so soon, milk, that's mad (I know, it's actually all just normal calculations but it seems like just round the corner!)

lisbeth that doesn't sound fun at all and well done you for managing so well.

I haven't told work yet as my workplace is very young & alcohol social and I don't think it'll help with the office bonding (I'm already a bit of an oddity cos I love sport so much). Boss is also tricky - he asked me 3 times over the first 3 years that I worked for him (it's now been 5 years) whether I was pregnant or planned on being so. On the last occasion I reported him to HR for discrimination (they did nothing). He's not promoted me on several occasions because (IMO) he thought I was going to get pregnant. Then last jan I got a promotion in terms of responsibilities but no more money nor a change in title to reflect this extra work. ANYWAY, this April he has finally come good - I have an improved title and more money (only £100 more a month, but still). So now I feel super bad about telling him. I realise that a) he should have promoted me earlier and b) I've been effectively been doing the upper job for 16 months already and c) tough... but it's not going to be a fun conversation (or a fun working relationship afterwards). So I'm working the tunic dress look and hoping to postpone as long as I can... All advice on how to manage that particular beauty of a conversation very welcome!

Fjord poor you re no bargainous Maternity stuff. is there not H&M over there? Bra wise I can only suggest you persuade a friend to come and visit you - get the bras delivered to her, try them on while she's here and then return the ones you don't like afterwards?? My sister does this (she lives abroad!).

Velo that sounds scary. glad all ok now.

Guccigirl79 · 01/05/2012 17:22

Cwest congratulations on your scan even better you've jumped a few days ahead :) I'm all for a virtual party Wine

Fjord glad you managed to have a little break & dsd is starting to behave herself (teenagers are funny creatures at best) also pleased you have finally got yourself into the system over there, now we just need to get you sorted with all the other bits :)

On the symptoms chat,I'm still flatlining after 7pm most nights & still cant manage a decent size meal in the evening but on the plus side I'm learning to be better at portion control (which has never been a strong point of mine!) been experiencing heartburn at random times of day & night & as much as gaviscon does the trick it tastes bloody horrible!! No movement as yet I'm 16+2 & my first so maybe it's a little early.

Have my 16wk check with MW tomorrow morning & hoping to hear heartbeat etc.20wk scan is in for 31st May at 8:50am Shock that will be a killer since being pg I really struggle to get out of the house before 10am these days lol

milk · 01/05/2012 17:39

Guccigirl79, I'd call up and try and get a later appointment.

They tried to give me a 9:20am appointment and I got it changed to 4pm Grin

Kyyria · 01/05/2012 19:21

Damn this baby brain!!!!

The whole Post Office is going to laugh at my answerphone message in the morning..."you tried to deliver something to this address today but couldn't because it was too big to go through....damn...erm, it was too big to go through...ah crap, what's it called? I don't know...you're just going to have to make do with it was too big to be put through the hole in the front door that you post things through. Anyway, can you redeliver it tomorrow please?"

FjordMor · 01/05/2012 19:36

Evening all :) a holiday here today so a lazy day for me (had to get up to drive DP to work at the crack of dawn so have been in and out of snooze all day...).

velo - hope everything continues to be ok.

lisbeth - agree with the others at the 'tool-ness' of your colleague. Sounds like you're taking exactly the right approach. I know what you mean about the flat battery. I'm usually useless after 6.30pm. Luckily my outdoor concert started at 5pm. Had to mainline sugar (Haribo Starmints) to drive my lot back though past my 'useless' curfew.

CWest - so thrilled for your lovely scan experience :) - I want my next one soon now! I wish I could make my fbook announcement. I think I've more or less decided I'll wait until my 20 week scan now as I still feel like I'll tell the world and something will go wrong Blush.

Re 20 week scans - seems likely mine will be in May but I haven't had the letter yet. I'm sure I won't be nearly the first. Looks like that will be squid or milk :)

milk - I'm tempted to get a MW appt this week and go the doppler route. I need to hear signs of life soon!

FjordMor · 01/05/2012 19:40

Kyyria - hahaha Grin - they'll love that!

Dame - hurrah for you feeling movements! :) :) I was feeling some flutters around 15 weeks (sonographer told me I might feel early because of the rebound effect off my fibroids) - they were daily as I went to bed, now they've stopped although I'm sure my uterus has shifted since then. I did feel what felt like a couple of convincing 'kicks' when DP was playing loud music last night and I was lying on my side. I do hope when I can feel 'him' daily I don't get neurotic about whether I can feel him or not Confused.

Zara - hurrah for the holiday! Sardinia's supposed to be gorgeous :). Thanks a ton for the tip. I looked up this 'boob' and it looks like they may have some bras that might fight the bill and there's a Norwegian online stockist at least (which also seemed to be carrying some other promising stuff) so thanks for being the catalyst :) :)

londonlivvy - there is H&M over here - thanks for reminding me of them. I hear their maternity leggings are good. I'm virtually living in a dress I bought there for a tenner. I guess I'm still in my usual stuff because my boobs are so big I have to size to fit over them so there's still plenty of room in my tops/stretchy dresses for the belly Blush.

GucciGirl - good luck with hearing the heartbeat tomorrow! :)

Right - back off to tend to 2 tweens with 'a touch of the sun' after a day at the theme park... pouring drinks down them and a bit of salty popcorn. The moods and lassitude are lessening a little and the faces are after-sunned at least...

41, 17+3, size of a house

Kyyria · 01/05/2012 19:41

Re: 20 week scans - mine is 12th June...seems an eternity away. I agree with milk and fjordmor - not feeling/seeing anything yet..am debating sending in a search party just to make sure that the bean is ok! Smile

lisbethsopposite · 01/05/2012 19:59

Hi Peeps,
Zara - you are going to have a great time with your boss. My DH works in the construction industry and hadn't a clue about women's stuff, but he is fab to me while pregnant. Minds baby loads etc. Hopefully your boss will have a tired DW at home and think you are great just for trying.

Londonlivvy what a strange boss. Having conceived with IVF I regard the BFP as better than winning the lottery. You be out and proud.

I met my boss today - she was a bit naughty. Said she had told him to agree changes among ourselves. Normally I love her 'hands off' approach as we have lots of freedom which suits me. Anyway I told her in this case we needed a referee as he was acting as my boss. She agreed any changes would be only from her and none were planned.
I came home and thought of putting the meeting in an e-mail to her. DH has stopped me, says she'll feel lined up for trouble. Thinking of your advice Zoep Think I'll say and do no more, the problem is solved.

I need to do some maternity shopping and I want to try some Boden stuff but I am determined to wait til they have some kind of sale/discounts. Any ideas???

milk · 01/05/2012 20:01

One friend told me today she didn't feel regular kicks until 22 weeks Shock

Zara1984 · 01/05/2012 20:22

Just went to my amazing yoga class. New person who is about same size in the midsection, asks me how far along I am. I say nearly 15 weeks, she says 18 (!). Then she said (looking at my portly tum) "oh but it's obviously not your first?"

I mumbled Blush errr yes it is Angry
