Hi
I am 43 and expecting my first and these next several months are going to be a challenge so hoping to meet others in the same situation.
I can believe I have a baby growing in my dusty cobweb ridden womb. It has taken me 3 weeks to get my head around the whole thing and it is still worried about the future and being able to cope. My partner is fab and great helping me with the ups and downs of baby hormones. Nothing beats hot sweats, night panics and freeze in the middle of tescos wondering our we doing the right thing. I feel better this week and got my head around things .
Any ladies who also need support or just to have a good moan every now and again. xx
Ps thinking about having a toilet built next to my bed to save time going to the loo quite a bit in the evenings!!

Midgetm · 11/04/2012 10:11

Tenner and zombo - so sorry. Having had MC myself after seeing a HB I know how heartbreaking it is. Huge hugs and I hope you are both being well looked after and that we see you back here soon. Please come back and let us know how you are doing. x

Bananna1 · 11/04/2012 10:45

Am new to this thread but just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear your news Tenner and Zimbo. I had a miscarriage with my first pregnancy before seeing a hb on a scan, so can't imagine how you must be feeling. As Midgetm says, hope you are both being well looked after :(

Hpbp · 11/04/2012 11:16

Tenner, Zimbo, don't give up, we will see you back on the thread soon, I am sure. Take care in the meantime.

dollyindub · 11/04/2012 11:47

Hi ladies,
Sorry not had time to read all posts - at work (ahem). But so delighted to find this thread! I am nearly 44, 16 weeks preg, and will be raising baby pretty much alone as exP has turned out to be a bit of an arse, but that's one for the relationships thread :(
I'll take time to read everyone's posts later, but for now, just to say hello!

exexe · 11/04/2012 13:04

oh no, Zimbo and Tennerlady. So sorry to hear that dreadful news.
Fingers crossed we'll see you back soon.

Hi Dollyindub. Congrats and sorry to hear about arse of an exp.

I have my scan at 6.15 this evening! As its probably the last one, it'll prob be delayed. I am soooooo dreading it.

StellaYoung · 11/04/2012 13:46

Another old timer joining in! I'm 40, already have a little boy who just turned 2, and now 32 weeks pregnant with twin girls. How all that happened I don't know, considering less than 3 years ago we were told we had virtually no chance of conceiving naturally .... hmmmm really? lol x

Midgetm · 11/04/2012 19:54

welcome stella and dolly, come join the old birds.

Seems wrong to update good news on a day when 2 of us have had such shit days but need to share that I had the NT scan today. Measurement was 1.1 and everything was looking good. I understand the result will be skewed by the whole being 40 malarkey but it a much better result than I hoped. Delighted, elated and a little bit exhausted. I know you will all get where I am coming from on this one. I don't always feel old but I am....

ValiumQueen · 11/04/2012 20:01

midget Good news is always good news Smile

Welcome stella and dolly

My MIL had a heart attack today (age 60) so DH in bits, and my brother is suicidal again (long story) Both live a long way away, so I cannot do much to help. DD2 is on the mend thankfully. All this means I am barely thinking of this little bean...

Midgetm · 11/04/2012 20:27

Blimey VQ you are getting a ladle load of strife these days. Poor DH. Sending hugs x

exexe · 11/04/2012 20:28

Hi Stella. Thats amazing after being told you wouldn't conceive naturally.

Midget thats great news.

Oh gosh ValiumQueen thats a heck of a lot of heavy stuff going on! Glad dd2 is better though. Make sure you look after yourself.

My scan seemed good too - only one hooray! And I'm actually less pregnant than I thought so I don't know why the gp scared me to death by going on about how I was much further along than I thought! Thats also probably why I kept getting negative test results - must have ovulated really late that month or something. Exactly 12 weeks today.
I need to get my blood test done tomorrow as it was too late today.

Jules125 · 11/04/2012 22:21

Can I join tentatively? 41 next month, 8 weeks, have 15 month old DD.

Much wanted baby but feeling so so anxious right now - I have a terrible past history with several early miscarriages and one still birth at 26 weeks due to early, severe pre-eclampsia. This is a very high risk pregnancy. Have already seen HB though so as good as possible at the moment.

Midgetm · 12/04/2012 07:03

Hi Jules of course you can join us. So sorry you've been through so much to get here and no wonder you are anxious. The first trimester is a nightmare for everyone but even more so when you have had recurrent losses and such a late loss. I have also had multiple MC's an also had pre eclampsia with my one successfully pregnancy. Luckily mine was not so early and they managed to get her out in time. I hope you find some comfort here. You are very welcome. X

Tennerlady · 12/04/2012 07:46

Hi everyone sorry didn't get back to u all yesterday was bit of haze had to go straight into work after I found out as didn't want to give them any more aminution to use against me (I already blame them anyway as baby died around time when they informed me about investigation) well that's how I'm looking at it . . .hubby been great he was guttered but he said he had feeling so we have decided to actually try for baby as last 2 pregnacy have been a accident and he feels that as it is actually planned it will be fine god love him but leave him in his little world ha ha I will stay on following u all if you don't mind might not post but I will be reading as I feel apart of all ur lives and the adventure you all have ahead of you but once again thank you all for ur support sending big hugs to everyone and keep positive and smiley faces x x x
Signing out but not gone x x x

Midgetm · 12/04/2012 08:03

Be lovely to keep you with us tenner. So glad your DH is being so supportive. Hopefully you wil be updating us with better news real soon x

bytheseaside · 12/04/2012 11:17

Tennerlady and zimbomaman, I'm so so sorry to hear your news - it's all of our worst nightmare, and I can only imagine how sad you must be feeling. It's so utterly unfair.

I'm also feeling guilty about my good news this week - I just feel so lucky. I had a lovely scan yesterday (10 weeks) - all looked ok with our baby despite the (continued) bleeding, and was told I could start feeling confident. Although I don't, needless to say... just wish the damn bleeding would stop.

Can I ask you more experienced ladies a question about timing of blood tests and nuchal scan? My midwife and fertility clinic don't agree on how to date my ivf pregnancy - 4 days difference between them, and so I'm really trying to get this right. To be fair the clinic does seem to be counting it in an odd way, counting 2 weeks back from embryo transfer rather than egg collection - has anyone else had this? I think there were some other ivf ladies on here. I heard there was one blood test that needs to be done around 11 weeks, but I don't know what and I'm completely clueless - more than you could imagine. I don't actually have my first meeting with midwife until I'm over 12 weeks... so will be too late to ask her then, just had brief phone call so far. Aargh, so much confusion. Is there more than one blood test and what is it for?

A big welcome to new ladies - I'm looking forward to chatting some more :)

Hpbp · 12/04/2012 11:25

just a quick reply to bytheseaside, at work, hum hum...
I don't know anything about calculation with ivf but I do know that tri test and nuchal scan can be performed between 11 and 13+6 weeks, so if your MW appointment is around 12 weeks, you should be fine
back to work, will catch up later with all your good news

exexe · 12/04/2012 11:42

Hi Jules. Sorry to hear about your past pregnancies. Hopefully this one will be fine.

It will be lovely for you to stay Tennerlady and hopefully with your own good news to share soon. Your dh sounds lovely Smile

Bytheseaside I'm not sure about ivf either and I've just heard exactly what Hpbp has said. good luck.

I joined slimming world and was shocked how much weight I've put on in just 12 weeks!! I really need to sort it out otherwise I'll be far too heavy for my small frame to be a fit and able parent to 3 children under 7!
Valiumqueen I started another thread in pregnancy specifically for healthy eating. I know you did one in the weight loss section but I thought not many pregnant ladies would visit there. I hope you don't mind.

Hpbp · 12/04/2012 12:32

although Bytheseaside, I just reread what I wrote and
the nuchal scan and tritest are usually performed in hospital between 11 and 13 +6 weeks and not done by the MW
so you might want to speak to the MW team before your appointment to make sure they have booked you already in hospital for these tests, does that makes sense ?
sorry for being confusing

ValiumQueen · 12/04/2012 16:04

exexe I have a lot of s**t going on in my life atm, and have fallen off the healthy eating wagon - I have lost well over a stone in the last 12 weeks, so have a little bit of a safety net, and will get back on plan soon. I am just so stressed, worried, busy and not getting any sleep, and cannot cope with anything else. I will join your thread then Smile

The hospital were pleased with DD1 today (clotting disorder) but I was actually brave enough to ask today just how low her platelets were - wish I hadn't! Want to wrap her in cotton wool. She is doing well though, so hopefully on the mend.

Other blood tests are just routine, full blood count, sugar, liver function, plus they test for HIV, Hepatitis etc. They only test with your consent.

york67 · 12/04/2012 16:42

So sorry tenner and zimbo. Hopefully you will be back with us soon with positive news. x
Welcome new ladies.
