FFS if another person brightly tells me that they went into spontaneous labour at 37 weeks I will not be responsible for my actions.

Had a sweep today - well tried to, but cervix so high there was nothing much they could do. 1cm open apparently but this is baby #3 so I don't think that means anything.

Baby not engaged.
No pains.
No braxtons.
No cramps.
No show.
Nothing.

RARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Am managing to stay cheerful in real life so I thought I'd come here for a rant and a weep. I'm done now. I have been pregnant for a very VERY long time. Could I PLEASE just have my baby now please?

Go SilentBoob Grin

Indith · 05/03/2012 13:13

Yay silent, hope you have a baby by now!

Ds2 born 6.05 this morning at home :)

TabithaChanges · 05/03/2012 13:36

Congratulations Indith :) lovely news. Hopefully silent will be along soon with her good news. I'm still pregnant 40 +11 can't wait for newborn snuggles.

SilentBoob · 05/03/2012 14:07

Yes yes I'm here and I'm not pregnant any more! Baby girl born about 2 and a half hours ago. Had a good feed and now having a sleep. She is delicious. Am just working up to phoning the family.

Didn't really need to induce in the end. They broke my waters, contractions started, progressed very quickly, a few pushes and she was out (she says casually!). About 3 hours of actual roaringly eye-crossing contractions I'd say. Didn't even have time for a paracetamol.

Congratulations Indith!! Am so thrilled for you that you got the homebirth you wanted. Well done you.

Who's next?

Lovely news Silent , I'm so jealous of you and Indith! Had 2nd sweep earlier so will have to see if anything happens. My hospital lets you out 6 hours after pessary insertion if labour hasnt happened and dh is allowed to come so that's positive at least.

Flisspaps · 05/03/2012 15:39

Double HOORAY!

babydust27 · 05/03/2012 15:47

Congratulations to both of you :-)

Stogan · 05/03/2012 16:06

melliebobs · 05/03/2012 16:18

Well get out the party poppers. Midwife been round and at the third attempt in 6 days was ABLE TO DO A SWEEP!!!!! She said i was 1cm too so 10% of the way there! But just in case it doesn't work, induction booked for wednesday! Feel like i'm finally getting somewhere. In one form or another

banjopink · 05/03/2012 18:30

Hello All

Firstly - huge congrats Silentboob and Indith. Really brilliant news for you both - happy cuddles.

Thank you all for providing the only smidgen of sanity that I have come across for some time. As of today I am 41+12 and seriously seriously peed off. So nice to see that I'm not the only one fighting the battle of the midwives, hospital, induction etc, etc, etc. Local policy is to induce at 41+12 which I've managed to fend off, but booked for induction on 42+1 (Thursday). Going for daily monitoring between now and then.

What really gets my goat (apart from the usual comments from all and sundry and a new particularly special comment from my usually quite sensitive father today "have they checked that your hips are wide enough". Of course they're bloody wide enough - have you ever looked at me??????). Back to the goat - is the incomplete story given by midwives when trying to coerce me into complying with their policy. My experience is that they don't give the full picture from all sides in terms of the relative risks at any given stage. Grrrrr - ranty, ranty rant.

I've planned for a home birth and have a gorgeous pool set up in my lounge. I want to use it (well, have been using it daily - is bliss to take the weight off, but want to use it to bring this little one into the world). But no show, no waters, no nothing. Come on baby! Let's do this before Thursday.

Melliebobs - yay for the sweep and everything crossed (except legs - couldn't cross them even if I wanted to) for you that your baby comes before Wednesday...

melliebobs · 05/03/2012 19:00

Just been for a long walk so Here's hoping. I'll be 42+3 (40+17) on Wednesday. I officially give up if nothing's worked up to then and that induction Is at MY request.

But I know what you mean re rushing induction. Here it's policy at +10 which is a bit rushed if you ask me. Great if you want it. But all the literature the hospital gives you say labour can occur naturally anytime between 37+42 weeks. Well if that's the case if people want to go that far and there's no risk and they are healthy LET THEM! At the end of the day though no one can force you to do anything without your consent. So as long as you've done your reading and you know the risks and benefits involved stick 2 fingers up to them

GavisconJunkie · 05/03/2012 19:19

Congratulations Silentboob! So pleased for you, you must be so over the moon.

I'm 37 weeks with DC2 (poisted way upthread). I went 14 days over with DD1 and ended up with emcs. Really, really don't want that to happen again. Aiming for a VBAC but worrying now and wondering about just asking for an elective (as I have a feeling that's where I'll end up anyway0.

I don't know if it's wishful thinking, but I've been having twinges for the past couple of days and vomited a couple of times yesterday. Like I said, I'll more than likely go over, but I don't plan on letting it go any later than 40+7 because I just can't go through what happened last time.

I'm not allowed to be induced this time due to risk of scar tearing.

What would you all do in my situation? (given that I'm 90% sure that these twinges are my mind playing tricks and that it's Easter around my due date?)

Indith · 05/03/2012 20:50

That's great Silent!

Good luck everyone else

babydust27 · 06/03/2012 08:44

I think things are starting :-)

Im 40+5 today and have got bad cramps in my back and sides, and im pretty sure I've lost some of the plug. tmi but its pale pink when wiping

im going round the house like a mad women getting the washing n cleaning done just incase!

GavisconJunkie · 06/03/2012 08:49

Ooh good luck babydust!

Mine wasdedinitely wishful thinking :(

I'll bugger off now & come back in 3 weeks...

likelucklove · 06/03/2012 08:58

I'm joining but only just over!

The hospital have my dates as 40+2, but community midwives have me at 40+0 because they didn't take into account the leap year.

Been told I will go overdue and have an appointment today where they are going to do a sweep. Also have an appointment at the hospital tomorrow to talk about induction, due to high BP and preeclampsia symptoms. Hoping baby will be here by weekend!

Have have some signals, TMI warning! I've had such bad diarrhoea since yesterday with bad tummy ache which feel a bit like contractions? Not sure.

I haven't read the rest of the thread yet but hope you ladies haven't been here too long and hope our babies grace us with their presence soon! Grin

melliebobs · 06/03/2012 08:59

42+2 still here.............
Come on baby we don't want tomorrows induction

babydust27 · 06/03/2012 11:01

anything happening yet mellie?

I think im having contractions now but this is my 1st so not to sure what they would feel like! I get a pain in my lower back that feels warm then progresses round to the sides and bottom of my bump. Ive timed the last 3 and thet are 8 mins apart and last for 35-40 secs (found a great smartphone app!)

Not sure whether i should get dp back from work and send my little westie to my mums. I really dont want to make a fuss as im not really sure if this is it

melliebobs · 06/03/2012 11:58

i've lost alot of plug (but i know that can go on for days before hand). I've had period pain on and off for the last 5 weeks so that's nothing new. Only other pain i've had is what feels like someone shoving a red hot needle up my fanjo. It literally only lasts seconds no regularity to it or anything. Going to go for a walk this afternoon and see if that does anything

TabithaChanges · 06/03/2012 12:02

Babydust and mellie sounds like things are happening to me. I'm now 40+12, and nothing.

banjopink · 06/03/2012 12:18

How exciting babydust - that sounds like contractions to me (also my first bambino, but I've been doing pre-natal yoga since 17 weeks and we regularly talk about this sort of thing - sounds like exactly what has been described as contractions to me....)

Mellie - totally feel your angst. I'm on a count down to Thursday's induction (41+6 today). Just been for acupuncture this morning - not feeling anything yet, but hope that the walk up to the hospital this afternoon for todays foetal monitoring session will get things moving. That red hot needle pain sounds familiar - interesting when you're walking along and it stops you in your tracks or makes you take a few decidedly odd looking steps - people must wonder what the hell is going on!

Back to what Mellie was saying yesterday about choice, I couldn't agree more. If we are well informed (sounds like we all are), why should we be pushed to comply with hospital policy? Similarly if induction is the right thing for you after 40 weeks, well you should be allowed that choice too...

melliebobs · 06/03/2012 15:21

Just been for a 2 mile walk with the dog and dh. Dh is nervous wreck and finished work early cos he can't concentrate! Lol still loads of stabbing pain but that is it really. Merrily walking along normally then STAB and your walking on your toes looking like a right nutter!

babydust27 · 06/03/2012 17:33

Just come back from the hospital, am 2-3cm dilated with contractions every 5 mins lasting for about 50 seconds.

They sent me home as they are full and im not far enough along, im to go back when the pain gets unbearable or my waters break.

Im finding the tens machine a great help, i had to take it off to get examined and i was very relieved to get it back on afterwards.

I think its going to be a very long night

Sonriente · 06/03/2012 17:37

40 +6 and no sign of any movement here.
So fed up, looks like I'm in the right place!

Sonriente · 06/03/2012 17:38

Oh, good luck babydust!
