In bed again with ligament pain. second night in a row. it is like the worst menstrual pain but somehow still bearable...

I thought ligaments only stretched once? have already had a session of this in week 11...

Apart from that, everything is ok & glad about the sunshine. even visited a few nurseries. we might get our names down on a waiting list next week.

McBaby · 22/03/2012 18:53

I have my scan tomorrow so very excited not find out the sex but will be nice to see it and make sure everything is ok.

On a more worrying note and hoping someone can help, I have been getting horrid pains in my lower stomach and back, th

McBaby · 22/03/2012 18:55

Sorry iPhone

Thought it was a uti but it's not, any ideas what it might be and if I should try and see the midwife about it when I have my scan tomorrow.
it sore and achey and gets worse if I lean forward!

Also does anyone know when we should get our mat1b forms?

geekette · 22/03/2012 19:06

My MW says I get my mat b1 in week 25.

Aches in lower belly could be just stretching and growth pains?

hamncheese · 22/03/2012 19:07

Mcbaby I think I had something similar recently. I thought I was getting a kidney infection as it was around that area, below the ribs on the back and coming round the front too. Like a really bad cramp when you have a stitch running but weirdly started when I was sitting still and moving around in a sitting position... didn't have any other symptoms of UTI/kidney infection so assumed muscular/ligament. I had it on the left and it went away after about 6 hours, and then I had it on the right a few days later went away after about 2-3 hours. Keep an eye out for if you have a temperature to make sure it's not infection though. Let me know if you do see MW! And have a great scan tomorrow :)

PoppyS34wantsgoatscheese · 22/03/2012 19:09

Hi McBaby, my MW said to go to the doctor to get MatB1 form anytime after 20wks. Don't know if that is usual?

Maybe call MW re pains,or try and see tomorrow ? Hope they ease up soon.

NeedlesCuties · 22/03/2012 19:30

Hi everyone, hope McBaby feels better soon, I agree you should tell your MW.

I'm going away with some friends from church this weekend, so I won't be back on MN till Monday. Will stick up the list now. If anyone comes along between now and then I'll add them on next week.

Have a good weekend, all :)

hamncheese · 23/03/2012 07:53

Think I may be a bit dense bit how does this work out:

Pregnancy lasts 9 months

I am 20 weeks on Sunday. 20 weeks = 5 months pregnant. So 40 weeks would = 10 months pregnant. WTF?
Confused

capecath · 23/03/2012 08:19

*hamncheese hmm got me thinking... Well technically most months have 30 or 31 days in them rather than 4 weeks, so that would be 9 x 30 / 7 = about 38.5. Dunno whether that then rounds up to 9 months... but I tend to go by weeks rather! Also full term baby is technically from 37 weeks and the 1st few of the 40 weeks count as part of your pregnancy even though you were prob not pregnant... So perhaps we should rephrase to "pregnancy lasts ABOUT 9 months" :)

Stinkyminkymoo · 23/03/2012 08:47

I have my 20 week scam today! Exciting! Am 19+6, so excited!!

hamncheese · 23/03/2012 08:47

Makes more sense now! People keep asking me how far along and I tell them in weeks and they look a bit confused, understandably cause before I got pregnant if someone said they were 19 weeks that's mean nothing to me! Then I go to tell them in months and think, but am I REALLY 5 months pregnant? Surely not!

Stinkyminkymoo · 23/03/2012 08:48

Scan. Am not scamming anything, honest! Wink

Gingerelle · 23/03/2012 09:24

Wow loads of 20 week scans, hope all goes well for everyone...one week to go for me and I can't wait!!

And it's nearly the weekend- yippppeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Vinolover · 23/03/2012 09:51

Good luck with your scan today stinkyminky... Are you hoping to find out the flavour?
6 more sleeps until my scan and I can't wait! I haven't seen him for 4 whole weeks lol.. How on earth will I cope in the second half of my pregnancy!? Eeek.

Well the little guy was really quiet all yesterday and last night so I have just had a can of ice cold coke zero and he is bouncing around nicely now :) I just love watching my belly move lol.

Hope everyone has a lovely day today and it's as gorgeous with you as it is with me :)

The3Bears · 23/03/2012 10:39

Hi everyone,

Hope your all okay been a little quiet as nothing much too report and been v busy.

I feel kicks alot now im 19+6 and dp felt baby on Sunday dont feel them regularly though, had terrible pains low down in my stomach on Saturday and was really worried all day Sunday as didnt feel any movements but I went to bed and sure enough baby was kicking away :)

I have my scan on Tuesday and im so excited just hope this weekend passes quickly. Loving all the sunshine aswell its making me feel alot better just need some more summery clothes now that stretch Blush

We ordered baby a gorgeous baby chair starlight swing thing from Mamas and papas this week and it arrived yesterday its sooo cute cant wait to put my baby in it, getting v excited now Grin

Hope everyone has a great Friday x

MrsMigginslovespies · 23/03/2012 11:54

Ahhh, nice exciting baby kicking going on with us all! Swing sounds v cute The3Bears might have to have a look. I've not seen my tummy move AT ALL Vino so am quite jealous! Still can't even really feel with my hand if I press down. But I'm sure it'll come, as a I do feel things now. This time next week, I'll know the sex and am so excited about it all. DH goes on holiday from school in 10 minutes and can't wait to have some time with him. It's been a sh*tty week and we're both looking forward to London (although tragically, am going to really miss DDog). I ordered some sleeping bags (in a bigger size to put away) from Achica who were doing a GroBag sale and they're arriving later so can't wait to see them. Looked v cute online.

Am mumbling on, so will go for now, but happy sunny Friday all. BTW, I think pregnancy can almost be 10 months if you go over 40. The 9 months thing can be v misleading! Yikes! x

PoppyS34wantsgoatscheese · 23/03/2012 12:32

hamncheese I wondered this, but I think it's because pregnancy is 36 weeks, so 9 months, but it's actually 40 weeks because they count 2 weeks before you even are pregnant (first day of last mp), and then you can go up to two weeks over due date I'm told. Anyway, that might be a load of rubbish, but that's how I understood it. Confused

Good luck Stinkyminkymoo, how exciting. Let us know how you get on :o

Vino the can of cold coke works for me too, poor bump :(

Everyone is very organised at getting stuff sorted any buying things, can't wait till we find a house and then we can start thinking baby!

MrsM what are you up to in London? Looks like it's going to be a lovely weekend down here, so hope you have a nice time.

PoppyS34wantsgoatscheese · 23/03/2012 12:34

Also -
I might post this as a question on the main board, but does anyone know if I can request to have my 36wk scan (to check on low lying placenta) any earlier?

I really want to take some time off before bump arrives, especially if we're in a new house, but I've been reading that if placenta is blocking exit, then they book you in for c-section one to two weeks after the scan, if that's the case then I won't have much time before bump arrives at all.

Angel786 · 23/03/2012 13:00

vino no words other than arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

poppy Shock 935k wow! Would hate to lose the convenience of living so close to work but we just can't afford to buy locally Sad

mrsm - share the tips from your DM and DD please... my ILs periodically drive me insane...

all with scans - good luck! so upset that although I'm 20 + 4 I have to wait another 2 weeks Sad Sad Sad

panpipe · 23/03/2012 13:15

Hi all, been a bad bad MN'er and not posted for aaages - I can't actually figure out if I've even posted in Part 3 yet!

20+3 for me today. Had 20wk scan on Tuesday; everything was fine but we didn't find out what it was. Tbh I found it more difficult to tell which bit was which this time than at 12 weeks so I don't think I could have seen anything accidentally either!

I've been feeling baby move for about 2 weeks now; it's quite odd and more like little bubbles a lot of the time. Very exciting though. Bump also seems to change shape throughout the day but it's more gradual than being able to see any particular movements.

Saw a new MW last night as I'm planning on a home birth. She was lovely and answered my long list of questions and is the only person I think so far that hasn't thought home birth is a stupid idea - my mum included! I got my MATB1 form from her too, which I'm looking forward to sending the the train company as they do free upgrades to 1st class for pregnant women if there aren't any normal seats availale, which is quite often the case on my commute!

We haven't bought any baby things yet but I'm going to the local NCT Nearly New Sale next weekend to see if I can pick up some bargains!

Hope you're all doing well on this lovely sunny day and are looking forward to your weekends! :)

glittershoes · 23/03/2012 13:22

Hello, so nice to hear that so many of us have scans in the next week or so. Mine is next Thursday and is the one thing that is keeping me going at the moment.

Can I have a bit of a stress and moan?

I am feeling so very down at the moment, I am currently sat at work in tears (luckily it is a quiet day and there is no-one else in my office!). It is all due to money really. As I have mentioned, we moved last weekend. The new house is much, much better than our flat was. It has more space, a garden and is in a lovely village but I think we underestimated how much everything would cost really.

Water is three times what we budgeted as it happens to be in one of the most expensive areas, the house is all electric (no gas) and the estimated bill is through the rough and the house is still freezing as the heaters aren't great. Our last energy provider has just sent us a final bill that is double what we thought possible (apparently we managed to use £250 worth of electricity in 7 weeks, how I don't know). It just seems like we won't ever manage.

We were always going to be stretching ourselves slightly - we are paying more in rent and now commuting further as well on top of saving for maternity leave but, with these new bills, it has reduced my personal spending money to £180 a month. God, that sounds like lots; I suppose, I have always been used to spending what I like to a certain extent, not on designer handbags or anything but if I needed something like a birthday present for someone or a new top then I generally was able to buy it.

I am sorry to moan and miser - I am so lucky, I know, but I feel like we have made a mistake and we won't manage and that I am letting the baby down somehow.

I have looked at the figures every which way and, while they are affordable, I can't seem to sort it at all. We have more one off payments in the coming months - road tax, car insurance, a service on the car, my husbands part time degree fees, not to mention needing to furnish the nursery.

I am just panicking and stressing and crying (damn hormones!) and then feeling more stressed and panicked and I am worried that the stress is hurting the baby. So so silly but I just can't seem to relax and think clearly.

Added on top, the new house isn't 'home' yet and still feels cold and alien and not nice.

I am so sorry to post really, I didn't want to but DH just keeps saying it is fine and it will work out but I can't see how! And I just wanted a bit of reassurance/advice and support I suppose.

All your lovely happy and positive posts have really cheered me up reading them so I may have a bit of a reread of the thread and try and remember that I have a lovely baby who is amazing to look forward to.

Thanks for reading and hope I haven't brought any of you down x

sc0ttishlass · 23/03/2012 13:27

hi all - its so nice and sunny - i can just picutre us all out and about with our prams! so exciting and time passing so quickly ;)

great news on all the scans - i have to wait till the 3rd, so a week on tuesday - no flavour finding though - i think from this group - more people are finding out which is interesting.

Mrs M - re the sleeping bag/grow bag things - most of my friends recommend them - a question - do you use that from birth??

has anyone bought sleep suits yet for new born? i wanted to buy a wee pack just to see, but they dont do many neutral ones where I looked in John lewis...also my mum laughed when i said i was just going to get around 10-20 of those to start with - she said she had 3 each for my twin brothers - one on, one in wash and one spare!! I have talked her in to knitting me some cardigans too...

does anyone have any other tips on what good things we shoudl buy? my SIL said one of those vibrating rocker things that baby will sit in was a god send - she is getting us one....

oh and last thing - i dont think i have felt any movement yet - maybe the odd flutter but couldnt be sure - also if you 'feel' your tummy, should you feel anythign? i feel hard points below my belly button (i think) - is that the baby???

happy sunny friday all :)

Vinolover · 23/03/2012 14:39

Ah glitter :(. Sorry you're feeling upset about everything. I kind of know how you feel because we're renovating our house at the moment and still have an extension to build out the back and a kitchen to buy to fill it and god only knows where the money is going to come from to pay for it! I just keep telling myself that it will all work out fine in the end... I'm sure once you have your house more homely then you will begin to relax much more.

poppy I'm sure bump doesn't mind the odd can of coke :). A friend of mine used to get through at least 2l of diet coke a day whilst pregnant Shock

glittershoes · 23/03/2012 15:00

Thanks Vino.

It will be, I am sure, and I will get used to my new budget! I think, what with my hormones and all the change, it just seems a bit impossible and difficult. I am not great at change at the best of times so right now, when all I really want are my home comforts, it is not great!

I think that this on top of being pregnant has just thrown me off a little - all my go to treats are either not allowed or unaffordable; wine, a nice meal out, a weekend with friends, a new top, a pedicure.

Really looking forward to the scan next week when hopefully the baby will become a little bit more real and I can refocus my energy and be a bit more positive.

Thanks for being so nice. xxx

ps I usually am a positive person, I promise! x

sc0ttishlass · 23/03/2012 15:42

glitter just read your post - sorry to hear you are so down.. i now how you feel as we are in a new house, that still needs some things bought which we just cant, as have to prioritise now... have you tried u-switch to see what the best utility providers in your area area? also if you havent ever looked at martin lewis money saving expert usually useful stuff on there.

my husband keeps saying it will be ok (re money) and im sure it will but only if we think about it and do something about it! :)

buy yourself a bar of chocolate and chill out tonight - tomorrow is another day :)
