Cewafwb · 28/03/2012 19:18

Hi all, haven't posted for a while, but have been catching up. Slightly bad times although nothing compared to some. Turns out I now have a heart murmur and irregular heartbeat, all of which should go as I give birth but need to have a heart ultrasound to make sure its nothing more long term/serious etc and to make sure the anethetist knows for c section - which is now booked. Then sister rang me to tell me that nephew has slap cheek which whilst very small chance of problem, happened to be seeing midwife who wasn't impressed and took bloods and said cross fingers, and whilst I was there it turns out the baby is measuring 27-28 weeks, not 32 or at least I am, so am off for another scan next week to see if its just me hiding the baby well or if the baby is too small and why. I haven't put on a pound since half term which was 5 weeks ago! I know I run at a flat out pace looking after three boys, dh, 3 dogs and building my house, but still, I would have thought that at least half a pound would have gone on in such an important time of the baby putting on weight. Still, will find out all in the next few days.

SirCharles I would imagine you are very upset to be leaving SA no? I know I would love to be there, although having said that, the weather here in the last two weeks has been utterly crazy - we had 23 degrees down here today, and I'm not sure we have seen a cloud in the sky for two weeks either - just sun sun and more sun!

Dozey when do you find out whether dp is going to have a tag or be allowed out or not? They are leaving it quite close to the deadline no? Poor you, thinking of you lots.

No ideas on names, none, nothing, nada. Need girls, as think ok on boys. I have one I love, but dh hates it, and whilst I am pretty sure I could swing it, I'm not sure I want him to hate the child's name!!!

Dozeyland · 28/03/2012 20:59

Cewafwb They could leave it until the day before if they wanted. (The potential date would be 20/5) Its unbelievably frustrating right now as not one person is saying the same thing. inside, they're saying he isnt going to get it. Then his outside officers said yeah you will, then today she said no you're probably not. so we are very confused. What they are putting it down to is the 3 criteria. DP meets 2/3 - The third being disablement - How can he help it if he's not disabled? surely thats against his rights. And as his brief said - if disablement was one of the criteria to have to be met - then all inmates would make sure that they are disabled just to get tag? RIDICULOUS

I honestly can't think about October. Breaking my heart everyday. I have a constant void thats hurting. I absolutely am SO grateful to have DD and our DC. but feel guilty for DP missing out. We should be counting down the weeks with our DD...and feeling 100% excited. I just keep feeling so alone, and afraid of doing it alone. emotionally more so. physically you just have to deal with it. but living with heartache 24/7 absolutely sucks. :(

On the baby front: - very low, very active and very achey lower back. I REALLY need to finish my hospital bag too, and DD's bag. Has anyone finished? whats your lists again? and for you 2nd timers?

OBEM starts now - yay. Finishes next week thought DOH

DP isnt getting tag

OP posts:
karatekimmi · 29/03/2012 20:39

Dozey, how awful for you. I really don't know what to say, it just sucks!

I am still undecided when to work until, have given the 18th of may as my leaving date, figuring if I need to get signed off, it'll be easy to do it. This would put me at 39 weeks, although I think my due date is slightly early.

Not sure if it's true about the headphones, but that's what I read on the Internet!

hippieshake · 29/03/2012 21:37

karate I'm going off at 36.5 weeks because in my last scan the baby was measuring 9 days early, and I've always had a feeling that I'll go into labour around 38 weeks. I also stand up all day so didn't fancy pushing it much further than that.

Dozey I hope that you are okay. Do you have family around you that can support you during/around the birth? Keep your chin up chicken, I know it's hard and I can't begin to understand how you feel, but you've come this far so don't let it beat you x

Cewafwb · 29/03/2012 22:15

Dozey so sorry - what a shocker - does that mean October then?

Spent the entire afternoon in hospital as thought had had leakage (turns out sex not such a clean act when 32 weeks pregnant!) and have had contractions all day. Happily cervix clamped shut so no worries about that, but had steriod injection and another one tomorrow incase come early anyway because of contractions, which could be braxtons but they really hurt and they aren't supposed to. Was advised to stay in, but ignored and came home - I know what painful contractions are like, and these aren't they and I'm not staying in to find that out tomorrow again! Steriod injection is utterly painful and am not looking forward to tomorrow's one, but can't hurt baby, just my bum and leg - OW! Spent entire 4 hours on monitors which was nice, also nice lying still and reading mag for that long - been a LONG time since I stayed still that long during the day! Had growth scan too as all measuring too small, but infact is fine and dandy inside as is fluid, so no idea why I look so small! Constant movement - vaguely worried that am going to have a baby that never sleeps when it comes out! My 3ds's are all wonderful sleepers and slept from 7pm till 7am at 8,10 and 15 weeks respectively! Not up for looking after 4 kids when one doesn't sleep! Anyhoo - having not even today apart from just now incase they had to do emergency c section - I am knackered - so am going to take my braxtons/contractions to bed and hope they go away!

Hope all well.

alwaysanauntie · 30/03/2012 08:08

Dozey MASSIVE hugs to you, as hippieshake said, you've come so far, try not to let the bastards get you down xxx

Dozeyland · 30/03/2012 13:47

Release date October. - can't find the words for how we're feeling right now

I have also noticed the past few days that I have more CM? This didn't happen
Until the last few weeks with DD. Currently 32+4

iowmum88 · 30/03/2012 15:03

dozey please go to hospital or at least phone the maternity department, midwife told u baby had engaged and u were starting to dilate. Best get checked out as the last thing you need is to go into early labour!

katykuns · 31/03/2012 11:10

Dozey - hugs Have you got other family/friends around for support? I know its not the same, but I hate to think of you struggling on your own :(

We have been making progress on names front, as partner not very forthcoming with names but seemed to manage to dislike many I came up with lol. We aren't spreading it around as we want to see that the name suits her :)

Wommer - I really hope that by him being a SAHD, he might be able to master some more DIY'y things, at the moment we are both awful lol. Bought the cot yesterday, and he will put that together :) I will probably still cook... he isn't bad though. He is better at keeping on the housework than I am. He is also far less career driven, very laid back... whereas I would quite like to move up and work to achieve that... so it just kinda made sense having it work this way!

Got it confirmed by work that I will finish sooner! Hurrah! 5 more shifts to go! it all feels more manageable now :)
I just wish they would hurry up and send my SMP1 form (I am claiming maternity allowance)... I have been asking for it for over 2 weeks and haven't really heard anything back :S its looking like I will have to go in and cause a scene! lol

Hope all you lovely ladies are well :)

SirCharles · 31/03/2012 19:07

Went to see buggies today. How ugly are they?! & HOW MUCH? Christ.

Anyway - any thoughts on the Uppababy?
2nd hand (well, only 2 ebay roght now) does not seem cheap enough to warrant buying 2nd hand but new still seems expensive..... But not as expensive as a new Bugaboo!

Dozeyland · 31/03/2012 20:37

I'm thinking of buying the britax-b Dual for DD & DC. the best deal i've found is 370.00 including 2nd seat & raincover.

Its so hard trying to find a tandem that i 100% like & feel will be used well.

Saw DP today. Just trying to remain positive. He should be able to get a 'pass' for the labour. BUT I have no idea how we can arrange it as if i know if its the real thing or not. he can leave within minutes of being told. but will need to be picked up. and returned there within 12 hrs. :(

OP posts:
SirCharles · 31/03/2012 22:04

Returned within 12 hours? Jesus christ dozey. you poor thing. 12 hours could be too soon.... Have been thinking about you & how to approach thi problem.... Have you contacted a support group for prisoner families? I wonder if they can give you practical advice & share their experiences? Ie how do other labouring woman ensure their man is with them for as long as poss & what happens if you have a 30 hour laboour o a false labour....?
Just a thought..... Thinking of you. Hope you have plenty of family & friends to support you now & on the birthing day of your LO.

Good luck with the tandem buggy purchase. We had a quick look today just in case it was worth buying a single which could be converted to tandem later.... But the lady said there was such a huge amount of compromise on choosing a tandem that she would not recommend going that route until we have used a buggy & know how it would be used in our lives. Sounded sensible!

Russki · 01/04/2012 16:28

haven't posted in a while, but have been avidly reading. Sorry to hear about delay for your partner's release date, Dozey.
have been having a slightly stressful time as routine 28 week scan four weeks ago found baby had mild ventriculomegaly (fluid in the brain), so have since had foetal MRI and will be having a late amnio (so that we can make informed delivery choice, as live abroad, and my preferred hospital doesn't have an NICU). I think the prognosis etc is quite good, as the dilation is within the mild range at 14mm and is only on one side, and no other problems identified so far, but what was a very stress-free and hands-off pregnancy has suddenly become very medicalised.
Otherwise, have yet to prepare at all - certainly in terms of getting a buggie, but as a late amnio can bring on pre-term labour, i should probably get this sorted out asap! Same for moses basket...
Baby is getting so large now that pushing up constantly against my ribs... but i do enjoy watching my tummy leap and jerk.

absam32 · 01/04/2012 23:24

Sir Charles... Just a quick one as flagging this late on but I bought a new Uppababy from US amazon in Jan after much deliberation. Saved self at least £200 on the UK price even factoring in import tax and delivery. There were a couple of little differences but nothing deal breaking. Might be worth a look...tho I can't guarantee prices will still same...

Dozeyland · 02/04/2012 19:55

Hi all.

Just here to say that I am deleting my MN account. I posted today and am now apparently racist. The whole conversation was added to by certain MNers who were just putting their two pence worth in. and I later received an email from MN HQTS. To which I have promtly replied. and will be seeking advice elsewhere about this. I apparently offended someone by putting my title as 17m DD, how do you deal with the paddy's? Me and my family are of irish origin and have never found this offensive. but apparently a few people on here do and are now calling me a racist. I am not a racist. never will be. thats the insult being called one. and on this website. So i just dont want to use this site anymore. I'll find another website. I dont want to leave this thread. but i really dont want to use the services of MN anymore when they have no idea what the thread was asking, what i'm going through, and also taking the sides of the other people when all i simply was saying is that i have freedom of speech as much as them. They chose to be offended. I have never in my life ever found or met an irish person who has been offended by the term "having a paddy"?

anyway. in floods of tears now as i've had the worst day ever.

I wish you al beautiful 3rd trimesters and birth and healthy babies x

OP posts:
iowmum88 · 02/04/2012 20:06

Oh shit dozey that's such a shame some people on here I think only come on here to criticise and cause problems. I have used that term since I can remember and have never thought of it as a racist term.
If there is anything we can do to help I'm sure we will do so. Can't you just change your name on here? If not hope all goes well for you, bump your DD and DP. X

Dozeyland · 02/04/2012 20:10

i'm just not sure i want to give them the satisfaction? Me too! I'm just flabbergasted by the whole thing? I have never heard of it being offensive?

I just can't believe they had the cheek to say i'm racist? and report me to MN from saying that one term! :S completely stunned.

and thats whats anoyed me is that I have been on here since 2009, never had a problem. until today.

And I feel so gutted as i've heard from lots of lovely people like you guys and they are taking that away from me basically.

OP posts:
karatekimmi · 02/04/2012 20:15

Dozey, don't do anything too hasty. Fwiw I would assume having a paddy was having a temper tantrum and have never thought of it as a racist term, and noone has ever pulled me up on it. It never occured to me that it would be!

I haven't seem the thread though, so can't comment on it. Well whatever you decide, I hope that everything works out for you and you r dp.

Just name change, no one'll be none the wiser and people can be so 'intense' on here! Wait till tomorrow, it might Seem different in the morning!

Littlerayofsunshine · 02/04/2012 20:15

I'll see how this goes....

Littlerayofsunshine · 02/04/2012 20:16

I am now littlerayofsunshine. (about DD not me lol)

karatekimmi · 02/04/2012 20:41

What a lovely name!

Wommer · 02/04/2012 21:59

Love the name littlerayofsunshine Smile

(btw found that thread from earlier and O M G!! talk about out of proportion!! That was a flaming on an epic scale!! Really feel for you and very very glad you've not left Smile some people seem to make a sport out of being offended.... Too much time on their hands for defo!! Angry)

Did you talk to the mw about CM btw? I've noticed mines increased alot this past week so I guess it just happens around now.
I've got the mw this week tho so shall ask her then.

Does anyone know when we can expect those little delights stetchmarks to turn up? Have none yet and have been religious about bio oil. Not sure if it's working, I'm lucky or they are on their way anyway Confused am hoping its one of the first two!

Can't believe it but only have 20 days of work left now! How exciting Grin can't quite get my head around the fact that I won't be back for 6 months - amazous!!

Hope everyone's doing well this evening

Big hugs sunshine
Xxxx

SirCharles · 02/04/2012 22:04

Great name!

Am being consumed by acid... V slow death by heartburn. Perhaps I over did it today? Too much property hunting :( shame everything is so over priced & teeny tiny. Most disappointing. Baby will be homeless at this rate.... & am so tired I feel like throwing a toddler style paddy - complete toys out the pram tantrum..... DH is somewhat stunned by this new wife of his :)

On a lighter note we had beans on toast for tea - how retro is that?!!

Wommer · 02/04/2012 22:24

Urgh sircharles heartburn is just horrible!!
Never had it before being pg and now is a daily event. Gaviscon keeps it a bay overnight as otherwise would get no sleep whatsoever!
I feel your pain!
