*kept - not kepted - im making up my own words now you see ;)

I suppose the good thing is that its hopefully going to be gone before DCs arrival, & its the first time in 18months that shes been unwell. never been sicky, even as a baby. I think shes caught it from playgroups considering we've been everyday this week

Cewafwb · 27/04/2012 18:48

littleray don't give her milk, it irritates the stomach lining when sick and also for the runs. Avoid dairy, but definitely milk. Hope she is ok now and its just a 24 hour thing. xx

Wommer · 27/04/2012 19:04

Was having a nap and sods law got woken up being booted by the bambino!
Still, however uncomfortable it is (and it really is!) I'd much prefer that to the panic this morning!

As the midwife/nurse said tho it's not the last sleepless night I'll ever have worrying about what he/she is up to! Lol

Hope your dd is better littleray
xx

Littlerayofsunshine · 27/04/2012 19:28

Oh right, Luckily she has fallen asleep without milk tonight. She hasnt had much to eat still, had a tiny bit of porridge (small amount of milk and made with water) tiny amount compared to her mammouth bowl in the mornings. but she didnt want anything else. I made her dinner but said no.

I hope that small amount doesnt irritate her tummy :( I didnt know that milk made matters worse.

She's not had diarrhoea since this morning, and not been sick since this afternoon. the only thing she's still got is a temp.

Will see how she goes. Hopefully a better night. I probably wont sleep still as i'll be worrying about her x

Cewafwb · 27/04/2012 22:21

Good luck, hope it gets better. Calpol definitely not Ibroprofen (also irritates the stomach lining - try taking it on a hangover and you will wish you hadn't!) for the temp and not any dairy for at least 24 hours AFTER she is better. Especially milk. x

Cewafwb · 28/04/2012 16:35

Littleray How did it go?

Wommer · 28/04/2012 20:39

How's everyone's Saturdays going?
I had a lovely surprise today - my 5 closest friends threw me a baby shower! Dh was in on it and orchestrated me getting to my friends house (I had planned to give her half the fish from our tank which we don't have room for) and they were all there with presents and food and games Grin

Have to admit that as they opened the door, was completely floored and... burst into uncontrollable tears!

Ended up having a lovely lovely afternoon - with lots of prezzies again dh had been liaised with and they hadn't duplicated anything which we already have got :)

Having a nice soak now, and lunch with our NCT group tomorrow which will be lovely too.

And 5 days left of work!! Woop woop!!!

Hope everyone's all good Smile
Xxx

alwaysanauntie · 29/04/2012 18:14

Ah, Wommer that sounds lovely! What a nice surprise, beats my weekend of helping DH tile the ensuite! I now have a sore lower back, fat feet and hands, so am resting up on sofa watching Mulan :o

Littleray hope your DD is better and yesterday's visit went well xx

We think we've got our name chosen for the LO which is one less thing to think about, after DH got a bit drunk last night have found out he's terrified there's going to be something wrong with her, and I just thought he wasn't interested in the pregnancy Blush poor sod! Have tried to reassure him that things will be ok, and if not we'll cope anyway... Anyone else's DPs having issues?! :)

Wommer · 29/04/2012 20:07

Hi always, yes it was a lovely surprise :) made me really appreciate my friends Grin

Glad you've had a bit of progress on the name front, we've got reams and reams that one or other of us don't like, but none really that we love....Confused it's just such a huge responsibility!

Glad that you your dp to open up a little bit, I guess they find the whole thing really scary from so many angles.
I know my dh is dreading me being in labour, as I'll be in pain and there's nothing he can do about it. He's already said how difficult that will be as he's quite (very) protective and is also a bit of a "fixer".

On another subject... Cankles... Please tell me they go away postnatal?!?! Please!!

I now have no delineation between my legs and feet at all to go with the pudgy hands/fingers, awesome.....

Hope all have had a good weekend, am starting my last week at work tomorrow - only 5 days to go!!

Xxx

Littlerayofsunshine · 30/04/2012 08:27

Hi All, tough weekend, and still no better. Poor little DD
Has gastroenteritis, doctor checked her over yesterday.
Been sick and had diarrhoea since Thurs. And a temp on + off.
She's not had a temp since Saturday but had the other symptoms.
Had a good nights sleep, but threw up just now. Wanting her dummy

  • blanket more too. (Usually only bedtime/naptime) not A problem. I think its comforting her so that's fine.

Feel so sorry for her :(
Luckily I slept reasonably well last night to re-charge. Just hope
She's better asap, and before baby arrives. 37 weeks today.
Seems crazy to know a newborn will be here soon!
My head feels like its swimming lately, just with all the circumstances.
And just knowing that even though DP can come to the birth (if he
Makes it on time) its a very hard feeling knowing he's got to
Leave soon after + potentially not see us until a week later.
I really hope I find strength. Need to make sure I'm caring for myself
As well as 2 kiddos, need to have energy, and feel well myself to breastfeed well.
At the moment I don't feel hungry.. And I have no energy to cook for me once DD is sorted.
All went pear-shaped when DP went :(

How are you all?

God my skin is awful on my hands, SO dry, brittle nails and red
Patches of eczema :s?

I had beautiful nails with DD, not getting enough nutrients maybe as baby is
Taking them

So is everyone feeling "prepared"? How about you 2nd timers too?

katykuns · 01/05/2012 09:50

I don't feel ready :S lol the house is getting better etc though which helps. I am also really anxious about the birth, but I guess that's got a lot to do with an appt I had with an anethesitist (can't spell lol)... who had no people skills. Repeatedly referred to me as 'big', and threw a load of risks etc in... despite noone knowing how things will go! I had a perfectly okay labour with my first daughter, but she slowed down and they had to pump me with some hormones to speed things up - he said if that was to happen this time, the risks were too high and they would have me go into theatre with forceps O.O
Made me very upset... I feel like they are expecting me to do terribly simply because I am carrying some extra weight... despite having a good first pregnancy, birth and having no issues in this pregnancy etc.

Trying to put it to the back of my mind, and be positive. I am sure everything will be fine and if not, we will deal with it. Feel like I'd rather not know the risks when I can't do anything about it!

How's everyone?
I had a better night's sleep last night, but very achey in the back and my legs feel like I did a work out yesterday lol. Saw my partner's parents and sister yesterday, so we were rushing about getting the house ready lol...
Have a good day guys x

Wommer · 01/05/2012 10:38

katykuns that's horrible, really sorry they're making you feel like that Sad

There are so many different factors which can officially tip us into the high risk category, and I guess they have to cover their asses by stating any increased risks but there are ways of being tactful ffs!
(especially when talking to a very pregnant woman who's likely to be a bit anxious and sensitive anyway!)

I'm trying to take a what will be will be attitude. Would really like a waterbirth, but there are so many reasons that this may not be allowed that I'm really trying not to get my heart set on it.

On my 4th to last day at work today! Yay!!!
I also feel like I ran (harhar) a marathon yesterday and for the first time my back has started hurting.

Water retention is getting worse still... Hoping this will halt if not get better after last day on Friday.

Not sleeping at all well either so am completely drained.

Hope everyone's well
Xxxx

SirCharles · 01/05/2012 16:28

Afternoon & happy May day!
So excited - babies are due this month!!! Grin
Still unpacking here & tbh am soooo bored of it.
37+3 now & hoping Baby is exactly on time! Still need to buy baby bedding (any recommendations?) & finish sorting new flat. Need a cleaner & ironing lady to help me......
I do hope B is not late tho - am fed up with piles, heart burn & the new symptoms which have started to appear..... Ankles = cankles. When will they deflate??
Had to take my rings off at the weekend due to swollen fingers Sad. Shame as DH has bought me an eternity ring the same size as my wedding & engagement rings but I just cannot get it on Blush. I hope my fingers deflate quick so I can wear the beautiful ring soon.

Sorry to hear of some of the problems people are having. I keep trying to smile through the bad bits & use hypno birthing techniques to ignore the scare stories & stay positive. Seems to be working. My happy bubble is still intact!!
Saw my doula today. Lovely lady. She & DH will look after me well.

Hope the sickness on this forum clears up soon. Not nice in the run up to our due dates.

Russki · 01/05/2012 17:17

How exciting that this is the month! I'm also slightly amazed that nobody's baby has arrived early. I'm 37+3 but keep thinking that I'm going into early labour bc of back pain, diarrhoea etc etc, but i certainly don't have the burst of energy that is supposed to precede labour - quite the opposite, in fact - i'm shattered, although that may be partly to do with recovering from a bout of flu that is taking ages to shake off.

I'm with you all on the cramps - i also find flexing towards the knee helps, and cramp immediately comes on every time i flex away from the knee.

Yes, definitely time to smarten up down there for the birth - really hoping i won't be caught unawares. Also planning a hair cut as everyone says it's the one thing you don't have time for afterwards - and perhaps a daytime trip or two to the cinema!

SirCharles - i agree, the hypnobirthing is great - my problem is that i'm just too tired to listen to the CDs at the mo - or at least i can but i'm afraid i'll just fall asleep! but until i got so sleepy, they were great.

Littlerayofsunshine · 01/05/2012 17:50

Katy That's so rude, try not to listen. I had a consultant
Say to me she was too busy to feel my tummy. Uh hello.. Nearly
At the end, risks? Silly woman. I'm seeing the MW tomorrow to get
Properly checked.

My back is also very sore. Lower back ache. And I am devastated
As I have notice new stretchmarks on around my belly button.
So down :( I know its a small price, but I had minimal with dd
And they were the same until this past week where I've felt baby
Really pushing so hard against my belly button.

alwaysanauntie · 01/05/2012 18:13

katy take no notice, bedside manner isn't taught as part of becoming a Dr anymore and some people just have no tact.

littleray with u on the stretch marks around the tummy button, only appeared in the last few days :( what really annoys me about them is that my tummy button is still very much an 'inny' and lo spends most of her time at the side, so not sure how marks have appeared in the middle :s

russki I'm 38 wks today & the super tiredness has suddenly hit me as well, had a snooze for 45 mins this morning & another one for at least an hour (possibly 2!) This afternoon, DH won't be very impressed as there's so much to do but stuff it, I'm 8 1/2 months pregnant! :o

I've got a mw appt tomorrow as well, hoping that she will tell me baby is engaged, must make sure I walk the dog before I go as that seems to help encourage her down. Now I just have to summon the strength to start dinner so I don't look completely useless when DH gets home!

katykuns · 01/05/2012 20:34

Thanks for the support. I am just doing my best to forget all about it. There is nothing I can do to prevent bad things happening... and whatever happens, as long as I get a healthy baby at the end, it will all be worth it :)
I think consultants have a rather good knack of not giving a crap about each person as a person.. I think you are right though, he was just doing it so I can't sue them if things go wrong lol.
I have midwife appt tomorrow, and she is lovely and tends to apologise for the consultants whenever I go because she knows that they tend to be a bit patronising and rude! lol I am sure that will make me feel more positive :)

Oh.. and am 38 weeks today :)

Wommer... hope those last days at work go quickly for you, so you can have some much needed time to collapse and prepare for baba :) x

Wommer · 02/05/2012 12:44

Thanks katy only 2.5 days left to go now!! Can't wait!!

Glad that your midwife is better than the specialist, she's probably a lot better at seeing patients as actual people and of the opinion that pregnancy is not an illness IYSWIM.

Am feeling really uncomfortable today. I just can't see this baby staying put for another 2.5 weeks! But maybe I'm wrong, after all I've got no prior experience to base it on.... Just gut feeling.

Hope all are having a good day

Xxxx

Enfyshedd · 02/05/2012 16:29

Hi everyone. Good to see everyone's still tucked up nicely - have had 2 worries on my team in work (the dads work with me) which thankfully have turned out ok (1 had waters breaking at 34wks, held on to 37wks, the other had waters break at 32 wks & had the baby at 33wks - both babies doing well). I think my managers have been keeping an extra close eye on me to make sure I'm ok ever since!!

Have had a lovely day off work today to have a lie in. Have officially only got 2 days left in work, but I (insanely) volunteered for overtime on Saturday afternoon as they were offering a really good rate for it and "techinically" I'm taking 2 weeks holiday before my leave starts on the 21st. It's only a couple of hours though and will be able to do a bit of shopping before or after as I'm in the city centre for work.

Wommer - Am praying that Wriggles stays put until no more than a week before due date (27th) - any earlier will be really close to DSS2's birthday and I don't want to take the shine off it for him! At the same time, the extreme tiredness has started getting to me and I'm struggling to stay awake in work after lunch. I think I'll be spending a lot of time in bed during the next couple of weeks in between organising DSS2's birthday party (6)...

SirCharles - Have started noticing my ankles swelling a bit in the past week. Seeing the midwife on Friday morning so should remember to mention it then - shouldn't be a massive cause for concern at 36+ weeks though, should it?

LittleRay - I think I've had it fairly lucky on the stretch mark front (although first timer here), but I have more on my left than on my right, which seems weird considering Wriggles is always lying on my right side. I'm guessing that it's just due to the weight pulling my stomach over to the side when I'm sleeping.

alwaysanauntie - My belly button's shown no inclination to pop out at all. In fact, DP keeps joking that it's anchored to my back and Wriggles is trapped on the right because of it!

I'm going for an afternoon nap now... zzzzzzzz

iowmum88 · 02/05/2012 17:16

36 weeks today had another growth scan as Bs tummy was measuring a little small but all evened out now and he is weighing around 5lb 11oz so not very big bless him! Next appointment at hospital is on my due date 30th may for a sweep so hopefully if not had him by then should have him around then!! Very excitedGrin
Bs pram arrived today and am loving that very happy with my decision!! Been babies r us and brought pretty much everything else we needed today so am ready for the baby now jus need to finish wallpapering his bedroom and were done!!!
DS bless him seems to be getting very confused with everything! Was my bday yesterday and DP took me out for dinner so he stayed at nana's for the 1st time without us and think that hasn't help he was very well behaved but think it wore him out a little. Was very strange not having him at home was 1st night in nearly 3 years that he has spent away from me!! But was a lovely evening and just what me and DP needed!!
On the cramp front, haven't suffered with it until this morning it was horrific really feel for the rest of you who have it often my leg has been hurting all day!!!

alwaysanauntie · 02/05/2012 18:34

iowmum88 happy birthday for yesterday! Glad you had a nice evening and the growth scan looks good (I'd say 5lb 11 is a decent weight for 36 weeks, at least you know you're not going to have to birth a whopper!) :o

enfyshedd I guess at least if you do the overtime you have money to spend on the lo... and a good excuse to go shopping :)

Wommer hope yours holds on until you finish work!

I had my 38 wk MW appointment today, she only checked wee and listened to the heartbeat. I'm under orders from her to have the baby saturday night as she's on call and desperate to attend a homebirth for one of her ladies! Apparently the baby is engaged, although she didn't feel for how much, and didn't seem remotely bothered, my next appt is with the gp at 40 wks and I was told I ought to have a stretch and sweep then to get things moving, not sure I really want that though (would rather let nature take its course)...

Guess I just have to start serious baby movement tactics next week once we've got ensuite work out of the way this weekend (and DM will come Mon/Tues to wallpaper the bedroom - bonus!). DH has already suggested hot curries to get things moving, and I told him sex and eating pineapple have more clinical proof of working! :o (he's still a bit funny about the sex thing, I think the bump puts him off, still if it works... :)

Hope everyone else is doing well and getting lots of rest where possible!

Littlerayofsunshine · 02/05/2012 19:51

Always Dp + I had sex, then DD made her appearance the next evening!
She was 40+5 by then.

I am joining the queue for MEGA tiredness, its ridiculous!
Also complete loss of appetite :( making DD's dinner makes me
Feel bleurgh. I am feeling so weak too.

Had MW today 37+2, she said she would offer a sweep at 39 weeks,
Well more of a dilation check. As baby is still 3/5ths engaged
But very low, bh's are frequent + very strong.

I just can't imagine baby staying in there for atleast another
2.5 weeks? I hope I have energy to push it out!!

Any of you 2nd timers worried about the first few weeks with the two
Of them? I'm worried how dd will react, and I stupidly feel
Guilty that she won't have me all to herself. I will
Do my best to get the right balance, just going to be tough as
I'm alone I guess.

Must find strength from somewhere!!!!!!

How are you all? Sorry for wierd typing, I can't stand this phone!

PreciousPuddleduck · 02/05/2012 21:15

Am 38 weeks plus and getting intermittent really low pelvic pain as though baby is pushing head onto cervix?? Anybody else having this?? 1 day left at work now!

Wommer - lovely to hear about your surprise baby shower! X

Cewafwb · 03/05/2012 07:18

Littleray - the first weeks are seriously tough! Haven't you got someone who can come and stay for a bit? Mother? DPs mother? Sisters? You will need help at the beginning for sure - please tell me someone will help you!?!?

Preciouspuddleduck yes the same pain, and many sore BH's. Thought I might be off during the night, but luckily still here now. Have been 2/5ths for a long time now, but am still running around, literally, so can't be fully engaged yet.

Wommer · 03/05/2012 10:49

puddleduck I had that for the first time yesterday, and really wasn't sure I'd make it home. Have been consistently 3/5 palp but I reckon when I see the mw on weds it will be different this time.

Had the worst nights sleep ever last night, so uncomfortable interspersed with dreams of my waters going on my final commute tomorrow! Reeeeally relaxing.... NOT!

Enjoy your last day Grin we've (almost) finally made it!!!

Xx
