Thanks everyone, I'm feeling much better now. I dragged myself out with the dogs which seemed to snap me out of it :)

I'm so excited for us all to start having our babies!! It musn't be long for some of us now, I've got 6 weeks which seems ages away!

Is anyone using rasberry leaf tea? x

BlueCrane · 22/04/2012 17:32

I bumped into a friend this morning who had her LO last Monday and she was clutching a box of gaviscon tablets...my face dropped as I said 'oh no, please tell me you don't still need those? she grinned and said 'no...I had them left over and brought them for you!! As well as an unopened box of raspberry leaf tea Grin Her DS is v v cute and seems to be doing v well and we had a very frank discussion about labour, breastfeeding etc which was good. And the relief of the thought of not needing gaviscon anymore...almost makes me dizzy with happiness at the moment!!

angel I feel your pain - I could pretty much have written that post myself!! In the last week I have suddenly transitioned from 'ooh this pregnancy thing is v cool'...to...'ok, fed up of all these discomforts now, let's get this baby out' am only 35 weeks on Tuesday Sad so could still be a while to go yet!! But at least only 1 more week of work Grin Grin so so pleased about that!

hippie I think a frank discussion with your DH if it is what you think on Tuesday would be good...the pregnant hormones won't be helping but if you're not going to wear it and it can be swapped then it might be best to do that. Not necessarily an easy conversation but I'm sure that he'd much prefer you to be happy and have something that you will use rather than something that will sit in the cupboard and make you feel upset each time you see it!

Right...now to attack the ironing...

Littlerayofsunshine · 22/04/2012 21:45

Hippie I stated using RLT at 34weeks with DD. Had a speedy labour. Not sure how much of this was down to RLT though. Been told to steer clear this time as she was very fast and I had PPH.

I'm 36weeks tomorrow, Have consultant check on Thursday (just to check bloods i think due to previous PPH) last week baby was 3/5ths engaged so i wonder if its anymore. Its very low, rock hard & I can feel its head really pushing down. movements are very strong too.

DP will have his first home visit in 2 weeks. God just imagine if baby wants to make an entance then - eek.

So......... Who thinks you'll be early, on time or over then??????

Everyone thinks i'll be early, but i bloody bet i'll go over again. Hmm

Hope you're all well. :)

BlueCrane · 23/04/2012 13:09

Aargh!! SO uncomfortable sat at my desk today...only got to manage until the end of this week thankfully but having taken a dislike to my left hip I think LO has now found my rib cage as well so has starting booting that too and it HURTS!!! No matter how much I rub my bump and try talking to LO saying that those bits are immovable bits of Mummy it just doesn't seem to listen and carries on trying to move them Confused Any other suggestions (that don't include crawling around on all fours trying to get it to move - that really might be waaay too much for the guys in the office!!)

katykuns · 23/04/2012 13:16

Angelyaz.. you have just summed my discomfort up for the last 3/4 weeks lol. The discomfort/toilet trips in the night are really getting to me!

BlueCrane - I nearly cried when my sister told me she still has heartburn since being pregnant.. sobs lol I barely had it in my first pregnancy and it has been terrible since 30 weeks this time round. I am getting through masses of rennie (hate gaviscon) per day.

Not sure about being early etc. Everything has been so different. Last pregnancy I was a week early. I kinda hope I am 'on time'! Even though I am desperate for the pain to end lol... I don't want any big surprises! lol

Wish me luck guys, I am going to bang some heads together at work and get that damn form sorted! (or spend the afternoon sobbing because I haven't got the backbone to get nasty lol)

alwaysanauntie · 23/04/2012 19:22

katy any luck with you maternity form at work?

Have been :o :o :o at all our discomfort posts, oh how things have changed! I've got fat fingers & ankles at the mo, like wommer I also thought it might be PE as I has flashing spots in my vision & shortness of breath, but all BP and protein checks have come back fine, so they're just some more joys of pregnancy!

littleray a couple of weeks ago I thought i'd be popping early (am 37 wks tomorrow) but not so sure now. Am definitely much more tired but we still have so much to do I'm rather hoping we can at least finish the ensuite before she turns up. Plus although there's been a definite growth spurt she's still moving around fairly freely, so who knows... Am too scared to try any rl tea etc in case it works & we suddenly have a baby on our hands!

I've also realised I need to sort out a tens machine asap, hadn't thought about the fact it will take a few days for delivery if I buy one so need to sort it tomorrow, plus will see if the big boots in town will have pethidine to fulfill my prescription, at least it clearly states it's for a home birth & they won't think I'm a pregnant junkie :o Am also getting a haircut (poss the last for a few months?) and meeting friends from work for lunch so will have to wear something other than trackie bums & a sweatshirt :( looking forward to getting out of the house (other than to b&q) though :)

SammyB1985 · 23/04/2012 20:27

Hello ladies, I've just come across this site and realise I am very late to the conversation, but thought I would introduce myself.

My name is Sam, I'm 27 years old and am 38w5d pregnant with my first child, a little boy, due next week on 2nd May.

I haven't had the chance to read all of your posts yet but would like to wish all you May mummies-to-be good luck for your labours and hopefully i'll get to know some of you as we go into the next stage of our lives getting to meet our beautiful little babies! :)

Littlerayofsunshine · 23/04/2012 20:37

Welcome & Good luck too, not long for you now! :)

SammyB1985 · 23/04/2012 21:08

Thanks hunny! Not long at all! I Keep flipping between bouts of excitement and pure panic that I wont know what to do to get the baby out, even though in my head i know it's a natural process and everything will be ok.

Have started nesting today, woke up and just felt like everything was a tip and needed cleaning (much to my fiances pleasure, until i made him start helping me! lol!) it's his birthday today too, poor fella, so the nice relaxing day he had hoped for ended up with me making him help tidy up! :)

PreciousPuddleduck · 23/04/2012 21:19

Hi, am 38 weeks tomorrow and getting tired. Still at work. Can completely understand wanting to wear trackie bottoms all the time! I wish.
This is my first baby and starting to get nervous about the change in my life and always having to think about another person who is completely dependant on me. Just too many years of being blissfully selfish I suppose??? Does any body else feel like this??

Enfyshedd · 23/04/2012 22:08

I was asked last week in work if I was nervous about the birth. I said it was a bit late for me to be nervous about it as it's a bit late to do anything about it now short of requesting major abdominal surgery. Hmm

Have been getting away with trackie bottoms in work since I returned my maternity trousers last week for disintegrating after only wearing them for 3 months (think I worked it out at about 50 days wear) - am making sure that I wear long tops to cover the waistbands, but with 2 weeks left I doubt they'd try to enforce the "smart/casual, no sportswear" rule on my clothing.

Just trying to summon up the strength for another 9 days of work...

Wommer · 24/04/2012 08:45

Enfyshedd - do you finish on 4th as well?
CanNOT wait!! Nearly finished my 17th to last commute. Grin

I know if I make it to the end of next week I'll be so chuffed as I'll have made sure I have the max time off after Bumpy makes his/her appearance... It's sooooo hard now tho!

Still got fat hands but they don't seem to be hurting as much, guess I'm stuck with chubby fingers until afterwards now.

Did have a moment on Sunday when I wondered if we might be heading to the hospital... Had about 2 hours of coming and going period style cramps. (which is exactly how nct said labour starts) they didn't get any worse tho and eventually stopped so maybe just practice. (if that's even possible!)

On another note... (this might be a bit premature as we've not even started having babies yet!) but with regards to getting in shape afterwards has anyone got any experience/thoughts about belly binding?
I know various celebs are meant to have done it, and it's standard practice in many Asian/southamerican countries. Figure it might be worth a try?

Hope everyone has a good day and welcome to the newbies Grin not long for you guys now!

Xx

katykuns · 24/04/2012 08:47

Alwaysanauntie - I got it sorted! I ambushed the manager just as he got off his fag break! He was full of crap excuses, but despite going in Thursday and providing him with everything, then him promising to do it... nothing had been done! I took everything with me again and basically said 'oh it won't take 5 mins' and thrust it towards him lol. He tried to sheepishly make an excuse about how he was busy etc but I stood my ground... what an ass!
It did take him about 5 minutes as well. I stood and angrily watched him fill it out from the waiting area lol. When he did it I was very polite and left feeling rather proud of myself lol. Got it straight in the post as well so hurrah!
I celebrated by buying myself some more tracksuit bottoms lol.

Oh and go have a really good treat on the hair appt front.. I don't think I had a proper hair cut until Faith was about 2 and a half lol. Although granted that kind of thing doesn't bother me too much.

PreciousPuddleduck - That's perfectly natural... but try not to worry... once baby arrives you will be so wrapped up in what's happening that you won't have time to panic Grin
I think we would be a bit mad if we approached the birth like it was nothing lol.. but have to admit, despite my anxiety, I am really quite excited to not be pregnant anymore! It's hard work!

Welcome SammyB1985! How you getting on? I think you have the earliest due date out of everyone? hehe

PreciousPuddleduck · 24/04/2012 09:25

Thank you katykuns! I won't miss not being able to get comfy on the sofa!! Have 7 days (including today) left at work, not that I am counting!!
What is belly binding? I am intrigued!!

X

katykuns · 24/04/2012 09:34

I am excited for you Wommer lol... I am relieved to be on mat leave now, been so tired!
As for losing weight, I will watch with great interest for people's replies, because I made no effort last time round... and ultimately I have really paid for it! Although granted I have always had trouble with comfort eating. I am determined now that I shall get down to a healthier weight! I haven't gained a crazy amount in the pregnancy which helps (suppose there are benefits to having horrendous heartburn eh? lol)

Do you guys all have facebook? Would you be interested if I made a page for us (or a group I could make private) so when the baby's get here, we can put photos up etc?
Just an idea... don't want to do it if it makes anyone uncomfortable or anything x

Wommer · 24/04/2012 10:00

preciouspuddleduck does that mean your going to be working at 39 weeks? I'm in awe Smile I thought I was pushing it late leaving 2 weeks before edd!

Belly binding is where you use compression on the abdomen in the form of a girdle or belt after birth with the aim of helping return it to prebirth proportions. It's also meant to help with reducing water retention and diastasis recti and help support the back particularly while feeding.
There are loads (and loads) out there, the most famous (and expensive) being the belly bandit which various celebs have championed, and there are several others.
I've ordered one called the esbelt (it's the squeem in the us) which has had rave reviews and is half the price of the bb. (and looks to be less visible under clothes).
Just wondered if anyone else was gonna try it anything like this?

Xx

PreciousPuddleduck · 24/04/2012 10:14

Wommer - yep , am working till 39w to maximise mat leave with baby as only entitled to 6m mat leave in my job. I only have a 15 min commute so trying to convince myself that it is not too bad!! I would probably only just watch telly and eat if I was at home anyway!!
I shall look into these belts. Sounds interesting. When are you due?? Is it your first??

Wommer · 24/04/2012 10:58

puddle duck
Am due 20/5 and it's my first... Still slightly in denial that whatever happens will be a mum this time in 5.5 weeks... I'm nowhere near grown up enough for that!!

I'm also only having 6 months off, although thats more down to finances than anything else. When I come back to work in November dh will be giving up work to be a sahd. Fortunately he's WAY more domesticated than I am!

How about you? What's your edd?
Xx

Wommer · 24/04/2012 18:43

Very exciting - my esbelt was waiting for me when I got home :) only order it yesterday so really impressed!

Have to say tho... Certainly not the sexiest thing I've ever seen, but if it works then happy days :)

Xx

hippieshake · 24/04/2012 18:53

katykuns I have facebook and I think that a group would be a lovely idea :)

iowmum88 · 24/04/2012 20:15

katykuns think thats a great idea, will be nice to put faces to names, a lot of us have been talking for nearly 9 months!!
sorry for all the 1st timers this isnt really what you want to hear but all of u 2nd + timers did you tear last time? i had 2nd degree tears and had to be stitched up, do you think i will have to have an episiotomy? (sorry spelling wrong) have any of you tried the massage gel/oil?
felt very tired today had a nap when DS did and that doesnt happen very often! hardly done any house work.
all those on iron tablets did you feel a change after taking then? ie less tired?
reached a new record tomorrow 35 weeks!!!!
birthday a week today will be 24, dont really think i will be doing much will probably just go and do a little bit more baby shopping!!!!! dont need much more now! havent had to buy any new clothes for baby as all of DS stuff was in such good condition! very handy!
having to borrow clothes from everyone at the min wearing DP jogging bottoms and 1 of my mums long jumpers! as soon as i get home i put a pare of pj bottoms on or something comfortable!

Littlerayofsunshine · 24/04/2012 20:23

Iowmum I had a 2nd degree tear with DD, didnt realise though and it didnt give me any bother to be honest. I too have been thinking the same that i'll either need an episiotomy or i'll just tear again... I didnt do much of the massage when pregnant with DD, Havent done any this time :s... I may start.

MW said after giving birth, that I tore when her shoulders came out as she was 8lb9, & chunky. her head i got out so easy. & so did the rest of her it just all happened very quick & my body didnt catch up.

My 23rd birthday in a few weeks too, wont be doing anything. just a usual day this year :/ I may even be pushing! haha

BlueCrane · 24/04/2012 20:24

Only 3 more days of work...yeah!! And our pram arrived today which is very exciting! Currently trying to balance and bounce on my birthing ball to try and calm beany down a little bit as he or she was a naughty little rabbit last night poking me in the hip and ribs from 1-3.30am making sleep impossible at that time! I am also straight into my pjs when I get home from work...much more comfortable than work clothes! 35weeks today!

On the post birth recovery and weight loss three of chat I have a Davina DVD which I've not really managed to do at all...well, once so far, but it has a post natal section so will crack on with that as soon as I can, plus am planning to breast feed which I've heard can help with weight loss, and plan to join my local buggy fit group to get some exercise and nattering in there too! And as far as possible I will try to eat sensibly which will probably fail when I am a sleep deprived wreck

BlueCrane · 24/04/2012 20:25

Ps feeling a little old...I will be 32 in June!!

iowmum88 · 24/04/2012 20:30

littleray i didnt realise either its just the thought of it really! Confused
DS was only 5lb 8oz so this time if i get to term baby may be bigger, even though it is measuring small at the min, dont really like the thought of what will happen with a bigger baby!
i know it will be my luck that i go into labour on my birthday!
