Evening all!

Crackers so sorry to hear about your cat Sad what a shock!

On the changing bag front I have treated myself to an OiOi leather Hobo bag in denim blue (which I got a fantastic deal on eBay - usually £180 and I got it for £75 Smile) It was a bit of a splurge but I couldn't find any that I liked and a friend had one of these in a different colour and said it was fab...plus I've always been fussy about having leather handbags and suddenly realised that was probably why I wasn't liking any of the other change bags IYSWIM.

I am exhausted this evening...had a late night chatting to DH who was stressed out last night and then didn't sleep well due to heartburn and then work has been sooo full on today! Plus I had to leave early to go and get my tooth sorted at the dentist (another chunk of filling fell out last week - now have temporary filling with it to be sorted properly after baby has arrived!)...so now I have work to do but am still feeling rather sleepy as fell asleep on the sofa for an hour when I got back from the dentist Blush and as you can tell I am on MN rather than working so clearly not being very productive at the moment!! Only 9 working days left though Shock

We have our first NCT class on Saturday so am interested to see what that will be like and I have just bought a gym ball as they said to take one along! We managed to get a tour of the hospital from a friend who is a MW there which was v useful and much better than being herded around like sheep which is what the proper tours are like because they're so oversubscribed and they wouldn't let us on the NHS course as we're doing NCT!!

Sorry for the long post, hope everyone is doing ok with their little bouncers kicking away inside them and the heartburn, BH and lack of sleep not causing too much stress!!

alwaysanauntie · 12/04/2012 21:00

With you all on the heartburn front, I thought it had gone away, but back with a vengeance the last 3 days :( I too hate gaviscon etc so have been trying to take my calcium supplement before I go to bed as it should counter the acid, sleeping ok but just irritating that it's lurking all day.

I'm in bed already as knackered today, hopefully will get more than the 6 hours I've had the last 2 nights...

Littlerayofsunshine · 12/04/2012 21:08

The BH's are just very strong +++, and I am stating to feel the shooting pains (up vertically if that makes sense) MW said that this is normal as baby is burrowing in now and just making more and more pressure.

Baby is SOOOOOOOOO active its unbelieveable. DD was very active but this little one is doing aerobics in there!

Even though we have been told to expect DP to not get tag, still not written confirmation Angry - we'd rather have the confirmation to make closure on it.

Spoke with the probation officer yesterday - useless. she's bloody useless.

Sorry to hear about your cat Crackers, that must have been very sad and shocking. I'm also sorry to hear that they are still keeping you on tenterhooks about the tag, Littleray. The not knowing is really difficult. I've certainly reached the stage where I want a good sense of things being organised, and that must be ten times harder in your situation.

I am still getting used to being very obviously pregnant, as it didn't show much for ages. Yesterday I went to the supermarket and had a real laugh at my conveyor belt of stuff -- 1 pack MASSIVE black cheapo knickers, energy bars, pack of newborn nappies, mega bottle of Gaviscon. Plus a big bump. I'm not surprised the lady thought it was safe to chat to me about the baby Grin.

katykuns · 13/04/2012 13:02

haha VeronicaSpeedwell, I was like that yesterday, newborn clothes and a massive packet of Rennie and some smints... made me feel even more pregnant.

I am getting fed up of people saying 'ohhh not long now!' and 'wow that went quick!'... I know they are well meaning, but I feel like its taking forever!

Today I have a pain right under my tummy button... it hurts whenever I walk... I am a bit worried :S I have had spd and backpain throughout but this feels like something else. No pain sitting down, but I really wanted to do some tidying on my day off :S
Anyone else had this? It kinda feels like squished bladder with added pain lol

Also, any suggestions on how to prevent leg cramp? I avoided it a bit by sleeping on my side last night but kept stressing myself out worrying about it lol...

Blush just noticed my typo so just correcting it!

Anyone else glugging gaviscon or other anti-heartburn stuff at a crazy rate at the moment? Mine seems to have gone into overdrive!!

littleray hope you get some answers soon!

veronica LOL at your shopping!! I have had similar trips to get maternity pads etc!!

My DM just texted me to say that he flight is 4 weeks today Shock which seems to have come around v v quickly!! I'll be nearly 37+4 when she arrives!!

BlueCrane · 13/04/2012 13:15

katy sorry x post...I had a random lady in Argos ask me how long I'd got left yesterday and I said 6 weeks...she replied, oooh your bump looks small! I feel like a whale so was not v pleased as bump is quite large enough and uncomfortable enough for now thank you very much!! Also getting quite a lot of 'not long now' comments and whilst in one respect the weeks do seem to be flying by, in another I know that as soon as I finsh work each day will no doubt feel like a week!! Re. the pain I get bad and sharp pains in my lower bump quite a lot, I have put it down to ongoing stretching/LO making itself comfortable but if it's accompanied by frequent urge to pee etc then it could be signs of a UTI? Re. the leg cramp I'm sure I read something somewhere about stuff to take to help prevent it, but can't remember where Blush will have a look through my books when I get home!

katykuns · 13/04/2012 14:15

Thanks for replying BlueCrane :)
Yeah... its got a lot more uncomfortable today, but had my midwife appt on wednesday and mentioned it and she tested and got it confirmed its not a UTI. It was just a mild ache then, so I just put it down to my bladder being squished. Now its far more uncomfortable and just took me 5 minutes to go upstairs.
Wondering if it might be trapped wind or something... or maybe just pains where her head is being pushed down? If it isn't better after a bath, I will have to get checked out...

and yes, I am a big build, and a little overweight... people hear me say 35 weeks and honestly look shocked. Everything aches and I feel the size of a house.. it really makes me feel like I am just being a drama queen when people make out I am much smaller lol.

BlueCrane · 13/04/2012 16:48

katy trapped wind can also cause that sort of pain (how could I have forgotten!!) Hmm do you have any lactulose in the house? I have found this the best way to 'get things moving' ie make my body expel the air Smile it can be pretty unpleasant for those around you (hence I have had to go home from work a few times due to the (extreme) pain and knowing I cannot take lactulose and stay in an open plan office for fear of gassing everyone Blush ) but the relief from pain is worth it once it comes out! Obviously prunes, tinned pears and other such items can also be useful in helping too. HTH and the pain eases soon!!

katykuns · 13/04/2012 19:09

Haven't got any lactulose... might have to go get some! thanks for the advice :)

hippieshake · 13/04/2012 19:47

So glad to see some posts about trapped wind. I've had it really badly the past two days, my stomach is making some awful noises!! Will lactulose make me poo? Because I am not having a problem with that Blush

BlueCrane · 13/04/2012 19:59

I was originally prescribed lactulose to help with constipation and trapped wind as it does help to get the bowels moving as well as helping with wind release...hope you both find some relief soon!

hippieshake · 13/04/2012 20:09

Ahhh, best steer clear of that then :)

Might try some warm water, apparantly that helps. I feel like I've been inflated!

karatekimmi · 13/04/2012 20:23

blue crane I have my nct classes this weekend in Shrewsbury

I put my name down for an allotment ages a couple of months ago, assuming it would take ages, but I got it yesterday!!! Very excited, but a little Hmm at the timing!!

Oh well DH will have to do all the weeding and I'll have to boss him around make tea.

I am a teacher and having 2 weeks off has been so good, but have a few weeks left at work!! :( I'm not sure how well I'll cope when I go back!

Katykuns I often get trapped wind and indigestion, in the right side of my bump, the first time I got it, it hurt so badly that I went to the hospital to make sure nothing was seriously wrong! I don't get heartburn, but I think that I must get that instead and gaviscon just does nothing for it. Prunes and water!

Crackers I am SO sorry to hear about your poor cat, that is so sad :( big hugs. Happy to hear about your maternity pay though. Is that cos they have to calculate your last 3 months pay as your basic rate for SMP?

BlueCrane I was waiting in Argos the other day in the returns line, and when I finally got to the front a lady barged infront of me and said 'I was waiting in the line, but I was sitting down as I have a bad leg'. I almost choked as I had been STANDING and waiting for about 15 mins and I am heavilly pregnant! Some people are just so rude. The lady behind the counter felt so sorry for me that she gave me a £10 gift card though which was nice.

karate i just finished my antenatal classes, they were brilliant and some of the other ladies and I are planning to meet up in a couple of weeks once we are all on maternity. THey are really good for meeting people in your area....

katykuns · 14/04/2012 11:41

It was wind! lol...

I can't believe how badly it hurt :S glad I didn't go and get checked out... would have felt like I was wasting their time lol. Can't stand prunes, but drinking lots and grab some lactulose later lol

Feeling a bit meh today, as I really need to clean the house, but I just don't have the energy to do anything... :S

BlueCrane · 14/04/2012 22:49

Evening all...just a quick post to say hello. The NCT class was v good, though very full on a it was from 10-5! It also covered a lot of stuff that DH and. Have already read but was nice t meet other mums in rl who are due at a similar time to me. One of the v interesting parts was some pictures which showed how the baby pretty much takes over our insides and how much our stomach, intestines and bladder get squished and moved around...no wonder we're all suffering with a variety of different digestion and bowel/bladder related issues as there's just no space left in there now really as our little ones are just hogging all the room!! We then had a friends house warming party to go to tonight which was v tiring but good...except that we found out they have been ttc for ages and are really struggling and been diagnosed with various health concerns and now about to try ivf...just really sad as they have a time limit of only a few months to try and get pregnant due to the health issues so it all looks rather unlikely! DH has booked us a hotel in London tomorrow night so we're heading into London tomorrow afternoon and have seethe afternoon and evening and then Monday which will be nice - just a hectic weekend though...really want to enjoy it but hoping I have the energy!!

katy glad you're feeling better - I have been amazed at how much pain trapped wind can cause!!

karate hope your class went well!

alex can't believe how rude the lady was in Argos...but great about the voucher!

Right...bed is calling, here's hoping I can get comfortable as beany seems to have woken up and be mid kick boxing practice at the moment which will no doubt step up from warm up exercises to being full on as soon as I lie down!!

SirCharles · 15/04/2012 06:33

Morning all!! Wakey Wakey - come & play!! Some of us have been awake since 5am due to Death by Acid Hell - aka heart burn. Shame DH is breathing so loudly as it is really IRRITATING me......

Anyone else suffering?
So we got the keys on Thursday - woo hoo. Storage contents arrived Friday. Gawd I was tired by Friday night & it felt like I had barely lifted a finger to help all day - how on earth all the boxes are going to get unpacked I do not know. I know, One box at a time!! & fingers crossed have enough time to sort it all put before Bubba arrives.
DH returns overseas tonight for 4 days. Am feeling sanguine about it but it will be weird after spending every day together for the last 4 months. He will miss me & B too - even told the B that last night!!
The hypno birthing classes + NHS classes over the last 2 weeks have really made an impact on him - really connected us both & helped him bond with "Bubba"(as DH now refers to "s/he"!). V mixed emotions watching him - makes it all v real for me. 35+1 now - B can come any time in the next 2-7 weeks - crikey!!!!!!!
We have a lovely doula booked For the birth & any post natal support I need in case DH is still overseas - yippee. have been reassured he should have enough time to get back tho as 1st babies take a while. Our hypno birth teacher also recommended talking to B to encourage him/her to come at a weekend when DH is here..... Well, if they can turn a breach baby it is worth a go Grin
Started NCT classes in local area yesterday. Seem to be some lovely people so might even make a few yummy mummy friends to hang out with!
Right, apologies for stream of consciousness. Good luck to everyone for the last few weeks & hope the discomforts are out weighed by the joy of meeting LOs soon Smile

Twittwooo · 15/04/2012 11:13

Hi everyone, I'm a bit late in spotting this thread but would it be okay to join you? I'm due on 30th May, so it's all becoming a bit real and some virtual support would be lovely!

I'm just coming to the end of two weeks off work and am about to return for another two weeks before starting maternity leave. I'm feeling quite strange about finishing work for a while, but I'm sure when the time comes everything will feel right.

It's good to see that some of you have been doing Hypnobirthing - I have too and am trying to fit in all the practise in advance of the birthing day! I'm not doing NCT classes but have started NHS classes and am also doing pregnancy pilates, which is great.

I have also been suffering from heartburn as it seems many of you have! I'm reluctant to use gaviscon and things but have found that milk, yoghurt and love hearts work well (not at the same time)!

Anyway, I hope you all don't mind me gatecrashing this thread. Hope you're all doing well and looking forward to the big event. x

Wommer · 15/04/2012 17:22

Hi twitwoo welcome on board :)

I've got another 3 weeks left at work, am due 20/5. Had our 2nd nct today though and they all reckon that I'm mental to go that close.... This is not the first time I've heard it either!

Would like to finish earlier, but every day extra I do at this end is an extra one off at the other end... Also I HATE my job so possibly quite alot of it is not wanting to be there pregnant or not! The fact it pays the bills is the only good thing about it!

sircharles my sleeping's been terrible again this week too - was awake at 6 today and yesterday... And back to work tomorrow.... JOY!!

Hope everyone's had a good weekend :)
Xxx

iowmum88 · 16/04/2012 07:33

In so much pain at the min in the front of my pelvis/pubic area surely this can't just be SPD! Couldn't turn in bed last nite took me ages to get out of bed and I was almost in tears. I went for a little walk yesterday but surely that couldn't of agrivated it that much. It's a nightmare! I can barely lift DS.
Luckily DP is coming home today for a few days wasn't ment to be coming back till the 29th.
Anyone else getting it this bad?
Also feeling a bit nervous as approaching 34 weeks (when I had DS)
Hope everyone is ok and not feeling to bad! X

Littlerayofsunshine · 16/04/2012 09:07

I thought it was it last night, had a really horrible pain that woke me up, & I had to deep breathe... I thought shit! please not just yet!!
it eased off but i will go to MAU today just to check...

I'm starting to have my days where i'm scared now.. its just all heightened by the circumstances. I just really hope it works out (DP making it on time) and me not haemorraging again, being able to do it naturally again etc.. i dont want to be away from DD that long (as in a few nights.) I'll find it harder than her I think. And I know Im going to be focusing on DC2, but I want DD to feel ok and not that mummy has left her. regardless of how much she loves and trusts her other family members..

A friend of mine had her baby the other day, and it just made me think - ouchie... I've got to do that again lol. Hopefully it wont go on too long, or too short (DD1 was under 4hrs from start to finish)

So overall i'm just feeling a bit down - (no change there)

katykuns · 16/04/2012 13:23

Twittwooo - welcome :) I was a latecomer too... I have so much to moan about that I needed to find somewhere where others wouldn't get fed up with me :P now I can suffer alongside all these lovely ladies haha

iowmum88 - also been having some trouble with pains, and am not not entirely sure its trapped wind or constipation. It seems to get worse after I have been sat down for longer periods of time, however, being the size I am and how uncomfortable walking is... I can't keep standing up! lol
I have had it confirmed again, its not a urine infection. So if you find out what it is, let me know because I can't carry on with this!

My last shift with work is tonight! I would be excited if I wasn't dreading doing a 12 hour shift with this bloody pain. Am yet to find a position that decreases it!
Had a scan done today, and they measured baby and confirmed she is the higher end of 5 pounds in weight! lol The good news is that baby and I are fine (urine also fine, so my attempts at eating/drinking more has helped), but also I am no longer being kept on consultant led care!
It almost felt like the hour and a half wait to see the consultant for 5 mins was worth it to know I wouldn't be back at 38 weeks lol

Am incredibly sleepy now, which is a good thing as I really need to get some sleep for this nightshift! Hope you are all doing well. Good luck with the move SirCharles, don't push yourself too hard!! xx

SirCharles · 17/04/2012 00:26

OMG, why do i have to suffer the indignity of so many afflictions??? If having DH out of the country, just moving house & being surrounded by boxes whilst suffering with Piles & Acid Death/Heartburn were not enough already I seem to be about to add thrush to the list. I have not had it for nearly 10 years so am not completely sure.... but can I get an appointment with a Dr or a MW to confirm & get treated... no, you can bet your last Pound that in the UK it is impossible..... grrrrr.

Has anyone else been treated for thrush? What would you recommend? Will it harm B if s/he is born whilst I have it? (am now 35+3 - i was born at 35 weeks, as was one of my brothers and the other 2 were 32 & 36 weeks, so am a little paranoid!!)

The lovely pharmacist did give me some cream on Saturday but it does not seem to be clearing up very quickly.....

alwaysanauntie · 17/04/2012 04:47

sircharles that's rubbish, poor you. I'm afraid I have no advice to give apart from I've read babies commonly get thrush in their mouths so I don't think it will harm him/her. Fingers crossed it clears up soon.

bluecrane and Wommer I see your 6am wake up call & raise you a 3.30 to 4am one! It's my second day of mat leave & I've woken up ridiculously early again (6am is normal alarm time for us though) so am feeling very pissed off. Yesterday I hid under the duvet so I could go on the internet on my phone without waking DH, but this morning I've moved to the sofa with the dog as I needed some water & food (love waitrose double choc chip cookies! Good job I did a food shop yesterday avo :o ). Hopefully will manage to snooze for a bit soon.

Had my home assessment for home birth with midwife yesterday. She wasn't bothered that half the house is a building site & said if i wanted to I could give birth in a tent in the garden :s not sure I want to involve our neighbours that much! Am 36 weeks today (gp check at 10am) so scary to think I could be in labour at home this time next week! Although I'm a bit fed up with being pg at the mo, I think I'd rather lo waited for another 2 or 3 weeks :)

Sorry to hear about all you ladies in pain, katy hope the last shift at work was bearable, I tweaked something in my lower back yesterday so my left leg randomly gives way every now and again, not what I need right now! iowmum88 and littleray hope the babies hang on in there for a while longer, sending you staying put vibes xx
